Pros

  • No Contract
  • Inexpensive Monthly Monitoring
  • Positive Alarm Grid Customer Reviews

No Contract

Alarm Grid explicitly states it will not lock customers into contracts.

This no-contract policy is quite unique in the home security systems industry and provides customers with a low-risk alternative to major companies.

And because Alarm Grid features no long-term contracts, customers will not need to worry about the hefty cancellation fees - in which they would need to pay up to hundreds of dollars towards the remaining balance.

Although customers should note the 30-day return policy on equipment purchased.

Although self-monitoring is an effective way to reduce your monthly monitoring costs, it also presents some inherent risks. Customers who choose this option will be required to contact the authorities themselves, even if they receive an alert in the middle of the night or far from home.

If customers are asleep or otherwise away from their phone or computer, several minutes can transpire before authorities are contacted.

Inexpensive Monthly Monitoring

Alarm Grid provides a number of flexible security options for every budget and preference.

Alarm Grid has monitoring plans that start at just $10/month and increase depending on what a homeowner wants out of their system (up to $45/month).

Alarm Grid has a unique partnership with Affirm which provides its customers who bought equipment an opportunity to finance their systems.

The approval process is instant; allowing individuals with no credit score to get a 3, 6, 12-month loan to help pay for their system.

While Alarm Grid customers pay nothing in terms of activation or installation costs, they will be required to pay for all their equipment and sensors upfront, which can be hundreds of dollars even for a basic monitoring system.

Other home security companies have successfully absorbed the cost of the equipment into their monthly fees, allowing customers to pay for the equipment over time.

Positive Alarm Grid Customer Reviews

While there are not a lot of recent reviews for Alarm Grid on our site, the reviews we have are overwhelmingly positive.

Cons

  • High Upfront Costs

High Upfront Costs

Alarm Grid offers monitoring for a low cost because customers purchase their system upfront.

Their system is not ideal for those who can't afford to purchase all their equipment upfront.

A wireless alarm system costs anywhere from $320 (security system, 3 door/window sensors, and a motion sensor) to $625 (security system, 10 door/window sensors, and a motion sensor).

Any additional equipment is purchased separately. See the "About Alarm Grid" section below for pricing.

For those who are unable to purchase equipment upfront, the company offers financing through Affirm Finance. Customers can pay off their equipment in 3, 6, or 12 months. This is not an interest-free loan - APR starts at 10%.

Our Recommendation

AlarmGrid's monthly monitoring fees and equipment fees are comparable to other DIY home security systems.

If you are interested in a DIY system, we recommend comparing them to other DIY companies.

If you are interested in a professionally installed home security system, we recommend reading about Vivint Smart Home or Guardian Protection.
