Blink Wire-Free HD Home Monitoring & Alert System will start shipping in May of 2015.

This is great news for the consumer who will be able to buy the product for just $49.

Every model comes with an HD camera with night vision abilities and sensors that detect motion and indoor temperature.

A free Android and iOS app lets you watch live video, receive alerts on activity, and review recorded clips.

There are no fees associated with the Blink and an IFTTT channel with a siren are also in the near future.

There is an additional piece of hardware that comes with the Blink to help with the install and the amount of power used. It is a Sync Module that comes with a cable. The Blink batteries are supposed to last for a year before needing to be changed.

In January 2015, the Butterfleye (which will cost $199) is expected to come out and is very similar to the Blink. The Butterfleye has a rechargeable battery that is supposed to last two weeks before needing a new charge.

It also has motion and heat sensors so a burglar or fire is detected early. It also has a Nest Learning Thermostat to adapt to your schedule and know when to be on or off to conserve power.

Blink is targeting the budget minded security consumer with its $49 price tag which makes it very affordable.

Blink could give renters or anyone else averse to full install systems a great alternative.
