Company Awards / Certifications

  • Named 2014 Central Station of the Year by the CSAA
  • CSAA 5 Diamond Certified
Lydia Security Monitoring markets its services to security alarm dealers rather than directly to consumers. Lydia conducts business as C.O.P.S and has 3100 customers throughout the country. The name is inspired by the policemen on patrol and is also an abbreviation of their Central Office Processing Services. They acquired AlarmWATCH in November, 2012.

The Good

COPS Monitoring keeps a hometown feel despite the larger size of the company and works closely with the client. They work to maintain a response time of less than 25 seconds with the average for February 2013 came in at 19.4 seconds per priority call. The customer service is excellent and available 24/7 as well. Reviews from clients agree that COPS Monitoring is the best with friendly and professional employees and a quick response time.

The company provides alarm monitoring services for independent alarm dealers across the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. Its large network of dealers symbolizes growth over the years. The dealers use company tools online to gain access to their client data and conduct business online. On request, dealers can get their application MPower, private labeled.

Use of modern technology allows for fast response times in medical emergencies. Alarm signals can be viewed in real time on computers and smart phones. The company works closely with its dealer network and maintains good communications via the web and dealer meetings. The company provides 24 hour/day answering services.

There have been no complaints filed with the BBB in the past three years and there are no legal complaints on file.

The Bad

COPS Monitoring does not provide monitoring directly to consumers. If you are a consumer that is interested in getting monitoring from COP Monitoring then you would have to contact it to find an alarm dealer that services your area.

The Bottom Line

We highly recommend using the alarm monitoring services of Lydia Security Monitoring also known as C.O.P.s. Their 6 stations offer the best of service to clients and respond to alarms within seconds using hi-tech applications. The services are both diversified and affordable leaving no reason for dealers to opt for another third party monitoring service.

COPS Monitoring has been monitoring for independent alarm dealers since 1978. Their centers are UL approved for alarm monitoring and they support two-way voice alarm monitoring so they can speak to those inside of the home or office in the event of a disaster. COPS Monitoring also allows clients to tailor their monitoring package to fit their security needs.

Since they have been in business for so long, COPS Monitoring supports old formats of security (dial-up digital communication) as well as POTS alternative technologies (radio, GSM, cellular, IP).

When a signal is sent to the COPS Monitoring Center, operators will immediately assess the situation and then send the necessary help in a matter of seconds. WIth mobile abilities, you can see what is happening with your security as well.

COPS Monitoring has the ability to test your account in just 15 seconds, watch the signals you send in real time, and view all information with their app.

COPS Monitoring provides other forms as monitoring as well. Other services include:

  1. Fire Alarm Monitoring
  2. PERS Monitoring
  3. 2-Way Monitoring
  4. Video Monitoring
  5. Environmental, Process, and Custom Monitoring

I have had several other stations so I feel that I have basis for comparison. They have disregarded published protocols, changed them without notice, and generally taken an adversarial tone. I have lost all respect for this company. They dispatched police after 3 second cancel on my part. Employees not well trained.

I’ve been on the phone with them twice this morning, they wouldn’t tell me that i didn’t have the right passcode….who has a passcode, for an alarm security word…i knew my security word, but they then called my mom twice and then told the police deparment to come out…without telling me, the user/payer, that they would be calling the police. The monitoring staff just reads off of a paper and has no common sense.

COPS has a lot going for it, but unfortunately they are absolutely out of control with the extra, hidden fees which have skyrocketed through the roof. I am finding this out the hard way now. They wont budge to let me out of their contract either. STAY AWAY IF YOU ARE A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER!!!!

They are starting to add fees. They will blind transfer your customers to voice mail hell. And no one is accountable or will follow through with anything. I am moving my accounts a few at a time, They used to be good it’s too bad, I think the monitoring of Comcast’s accounts has had a adverse affect.

They are they monitoring service for my SimpliSafe alarm system. They have been great since I installed my system a year ago. When I inadvertently set off my system they don’t call if I am able to reset my system in a reasonable time. However, they always call if a smoke detector or carbon monoxide monitor trigger. The people I talk to at the monitoring center are always courteous and professional.

3:00 am calls if phone line doesn’t test once out of multiple tests they will call every time in the middle of the night even if you ask politely to call at a reasonable time for such a non emergency. called back again to wake me up to be sure i received the message two hours later just to prove they will do whatever they want. Called to speak to a supervisor in the a.m and was put on hold for seven minutes before i gave up. I have ordered a radio transmitter from our alarm company which will eliminate our phone line and dealing with cops monitoring who can’t seem to even answer a phone call. Will never deal with them again

My first and second calls to the 1-800 # provided for C.O.P.S. was terrible. I was told that after my security alarm was installed, and the 3 days testing procedure was done, I would get an e-mail to confirm that the monitoring was in effect. A week and a half later I received no such e-mail and my two calls thereafter produced rude responses to my question “is my home now being monitored?”. Their response was “Yes, we have your number”. I don’t know if having my number meant that my home is being monitored, however if the answer was “yes your home is now being monitored”, then this would have gotten us on the same page. I don’t know if this was the same person, or customer service at C.O.P.S. is generally poor, but I will definitely write another review if my experience changes.

I’ve been with my current alarm company now for just over 3 years. For the first 2 of those years, they utilized another Central Station. However this past year, they switched over to C.O.P.S. Monitoring and I couldn’t be happier.

I have had the misfortune of accidentally setting off my alarm on a couple of occasions. Both times, COPS Central Station was quick to respond. They were professional, polite and very understanding of my accidental triggering.

I also test my systems communication with the Central Station once a week. Every time I complete a test, the Central Station calls within seconds of completion to advise me that they received the test and everything is working fine. My alarm company says that a phone call from the Central Station isn’t a requirement when testing the system, but it sure does afford me peace of mind to know that someone is ALWAYS listening, even if it is just for a test signal.

I have had my fair share of dealings with different monitoring companies over the years and let me tell you…Central Stations everywhere could take a lesson from COPS Monitoring! In my opinion, COPS Monitoring is the best alarm monitoring company out there.

24/7, 365 days a year, COPS Central Station watches over the people and things I value most in this world…and I’ll tell you I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I’ve been with an alarm company that uses COPS Monitoring for the past 8 years with 2 separate alarm companies. When I moved, I called COPS and asked them for another COPS dealer that uses their services for monitoring.

Unlike the other reviewer, I rarely set off my alarm by accident. However, when I have had an alarm, the response time is extremely fast, and the operators I’ve dealt will have been very friendly and professional.

IMHO, COPS Monitoring is the best in the industry!

I have been a customer of this service since March 2013. In that time span, I have grown increasingly frustrated, and unsatisfied with this company.

The company’s response time when an alarm is received is excellent. Their service after that point is not so good.

On more than one occasion when I have talked with the Monitoring Center following an alarm, I follow the same routine, answering their questions, and giving the pass code. Each time, I amm asked to spell that code out, and each time, the operator asks for the code, using the phonetic alphabet.

When the first code proved difficult for the operators to understand, I called my alarm company, and the owner and I changed the code to one that we thought would be more easily understood. No such luck. It has been four months since our last false alarm. When the Monitoring Center called this time, I again went thru the routine. I even called them back, and provided the same information.

The result ? My son called right after I got off the phone with the Monitoring Center, telling me that the police were enroute.

This company either needs to re-train their employees, or hire some that understand English.

While Maria Malice of COPS Monitoring, fought 4 years to bring about dual licensing upon the alarm dealers of Arizona, she then fought to ensure that employees of COPS Monitoring were not required to be licensed by the State of Arizona.

Maria Malice also, as President of the AzAA, lobbied for Cities throughout Arizona to bring about licensing upon her own customers, through City licensing of alarm companies and alarm employees.

As President of the Arizona Alarm Association, Maria Malice, of COPS Monitoring, has not allowed any public discussion, referencing laws, public policy, alarm industry, that differs from her opinion. This attacks her very own customers, the alarm dealers themselves.
