Criticom Monitoring Services, generally known as CMS, has an outstanding reputation in the security industry as one of the world’s largest, most reliable monitoring services. As industry leaders, they serve over 4000 alarm companies and the more than 900,000 customers those companies protect.
Criticom offers a comprehensive range of services that include fire and security response, PERS (Personal Emergency Response Systems) and medical response. CMS is partnered with highly respected companies all over the world to provide their customers and dealers with the most dedicated, comprehensive service packages on the market. Partnered with prestigious names such as IntelliNet, VoIPAlarm.com, Fire-Lite®, AlarmNet and Honeywell, the company offers everything from video surveillance to cell phone apps that allow parents to monitor when their children come home from school. Furthermore, they offer industrial, commercial and residential monitoring and are both UL listed and FM certified, as well as being a recognized member of the ESA (Electronic Security Association).
The CMS website is clean and easy to navigate but is unfortunately rather skimpy on helpful information. This is due, in part, to the fact that they are not generally an Alarm company but a monitoring company, making their focus on engaging potential dealers rather than listing prices for individual consumers. CMS is also not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, although there are no records of any complaints being filed against them.
Criticom Monitoring Services offers security monitoring that is fast, accurate, and dependable. Each CMS employee undergoes training and certification after going through an intense background check. Even after passing the training and certification, CMS continues to train and work with their employees to keep their skills sharp. Security monitoring is offered for both residential and commercial buildings.
- Two-way voice
- Signaling for burglary, fire, panic, hold-up
- Low battery and A/C power failure
- Environmental monitoring: temperature, power, water and gas level alerts
- Communicator tests
- Supervised open/close of building
CMS provides a virtual command center. This center is complete with an infrastructure that meets activity spikes. The resources and technology that come with the virtual command center include:
- A highly trained staff
- Three monitoring centers that are all UL listed and backed up by two generators
- Connected monitoring centers
- Sophisticated security monitoring technology (using AT&T, Avaya, UTC, Honeywell, and Verizon)
- Virtual server environment using VMware
- Caterpillar generators that provide backup power
Remote video is also monitored for burglary verification purposes and storage retrieval. Burglary verification allows for CMS operators to actually look into a home or office building to verify the alarm and prevent false dispatches. Storage retrieval is what occurs when the CMS operators look through recordings stored on a DVR to see what happened to trigger an alarm.
