Home Geofencing

Geofencing is a smart automation feature offered by the alarm company. It is a digital perimeter around your property that allows users to link AMP system devices. Customers can sync their AMP alarm and AMP Smart home automation systems with a smartphone so your home knows when you are away or approaching. When you come within a predetermined distance of your home, the app network will prepare your home for your arrival without having to use the control panel.

Cons

Long Contract; High Cancellation Fees

If you have AMP security and decide to cancel it will cost $1,250 or the remaining of your account balance, whichever ends up being less. In addition, it is difficult to find information on AMP Smart’s pricing, installation cost, or contract length on their website. We called AMP customer service to retrieve that information, they told us we would have to be contacted by a sales agent at their earliest convenience.

About AMP Smart’s Equipment

AMP Smart uses Alarm.com equipment in their home security systems that feature voice control. Home security and automation can all be accessed and controlled from mobile devices via the AMP app. Availability, however, is dependent on different monitoring options and what is chosen. Some of these options allow you to control your security system and watch video monitoring of your property with your smartphone or computer, yet some do not. The garage door, lights, air conditioning, locks, and even TV can be preprogrammed to how you’d like them for your arrival.

Home Security and Home Automation Equipment (monitor with the AMP Smart Mobile App)

AMP smart locks – keypad from Yale to lock / unlock the door. You can check the status of your door through your phone and lock your door remotely.

AMP smart control panel – Smart doorbell camera – AMP uses the Skybell camera that works in virtually all temperatures. This 180-degree view lets you see who is at your door and offers two-way audio communication. You can record video, capture a photo, live stream, and night vision. This camera has a 5x zoom and 1080p HD. You can even turn the doorbell on silent mode.

Window and door sensors – Get a text alert when doors and windows are opened. AMP Security’s sensors are small, so they’re easy to hide, and they have a battery life of 8 to 10 years.

Garage door opener – Open and close your garage from your phone. The company’s Geofencing alerts you if you leave your driveway without closing your garage door.

Smart outlets – Plug the smart outlet into any electrical outlet to control it remotely. With the AMP Smart outlets, you can also set schedules and dim lights.

Motion image sensor – These motion sensors with a built-in camera so when your motion sensor goes off, you can see what is actually going on in your home. The motion image sensor records clips, live streams, and works at night.

Indoor camera – Record and live stream video with AMP Smart indoor cameras. You can also set up text alerts.

Asset safe – This safe is 0.5 cubic feet and has an electronic lock. Because it’s a smart lock, it notifies you every time it’s open. Features 2 emergency override keys.

    This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. 2 months after my initial install the women stopped working. I contacted them many times and they advised me they had no 1 to service said within 4 weeks. I waited the 4 weeks nobody ever showed up i call them again and they advised me that they have no 1 scheduled to come service the equipment. I rescheduled and still no one could come out. After several months, I advised t by email that I am not going to pay for something that is not working. The worst customer service and alarm equipment ever! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

    BUYER BEWARE. Do yourself a favor and RUN if AMP Smart Security tries to sell you their services. In July, 2016, a rep of theirs came to our home and informed us that our alarm security provider at the time (ADT) was “no longer monitoring this area,” and that AMP Security had been sent to replace our service with Guardian.
    We naively signed with them (although the rep conveniently didn’t leave a copy of the agreement, and, when I later called about it, they said it had been emailed to me).
    I wish I had called ADT to verify their claim. It turns out that it was a complete fabrication on the part of the sales rep. ADT never stopped monitoring our area. AMP Smart lied to us.
    Please understand that AMP Smart is a third party managing your service. You are not dealing directly with your monitoring company. They sold us on Guardian, and then, two years later, switched monitoring services on us with no notification and no new yard signs or window stickers. I didn’t even know they’d bait-and-switched us until I called Guardian to get the numbers I needed for our city’s permit updates. Guardian informed me that they hadn’t been monitoring our house for months and that they were no longer doing business with AMP Smart. (Can’t say I blame them.)
    When I called to cancel due to all of the misleading practices, they said I would have to pay over $1,000.00 in early cancellation fees. So, we are stuck in contract with AMP Smart for 33 more months.
    After that, we’ll switch back to an ethical and professional security company.
    I hope this review prevents someone from making the same mistake that we did.

    Amazing equipment. My home is smart homed out! Thier cameras blew a away the ones I that I installed myself last year. I also added some things off Amazon and added them to thier system myself! A Google home now controls my zwave lights and the whole amp smart system including the thermostat and deadbolt I got from them. Never thought changing my home into a smart home could be this easy.

    At the end of the day I was looking for a company that would protect my home the right way. They made it so affordable with no out of pocket cost for the Equipment and they installed it for free. I would highly recommend this company. Great service!

    WORST SERVICE EVER! In less than a month after installation we’ve had 4 false alarms due to faulty equipment, twice police were dispatched. We had two windows that would not arm, the door bell feature works randomly. We have called to complain 8 times and still the service isn’t working 100%. 4 hours after calling, another false alarm! The police say if we get one more a charge of $200 will be given to us. Throughout this whole nightmarish ordeal their customer service has been complacent. No urgency to get it fixed. Today is Saturday and they won’t send anyone out until Thursday! WARNING: do NOT open your door to these people! They promise 24 contact. Not true: weekends and holidays you get no answer. Hopefully the thieves keep this schedule too. I personally feel AMP services are a “SCAM”. Steer clear, do not purchase this service!

    Made the worst decision ever by converting over to Amp Smart. I’ve had the system for maybe a month and has yet to work properly. Everytime I’ve left my home or went out of town my system continues to go off. They’ve came out several times and have yet to fix the problem. At this point I do not have a peace of mind. I had my suspension about this company and should have went with my instinct. I have been a nervous wreck since. DO-NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY.

    Not only do I constantly need to “troubleshoot” my front door security, but when I wanted to cancel my service.. after more than a year of trying to find a resolve…I was told that I signed a 5 year contract and the fee to cancel was outrageous! I most certainly did NOT sign a 5 year contract, so the service rep lied.

    After 5 minutes of talking without letting me say anything, when he said he was going to take his shoes off and come inside, I stopped him and said we weren’t interested. After a few times saying this, he turned to leave and said, well I will go where there’s more intelligent people.
    If that’s the kind of sales people they use, why would ANYONE want their product?

    We have had AMP Security systems for 3 months. It still does not work correctly. The time is still off by one hour instead of 4 hours. So if we have a true emergency we will be dead by the time an ambulance or local police arrive.

    The system is not reliable and we are literally throwing money away. We want to cancel this subscription because it is not what they advertised it to be and has not worked correctly since day one. We do not feel safe and secure with AMP and we want all of our money back.

    First of all the sales man ignored the no solicitation sign on the door. They had a good sales pitch, but very pushy. Told them we were intrested. However after doing some further investigation i learned they worked off commission. That would explain the pushing to sell the system. After calling to cancel the installation. The rep hung up on me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL .

    Beware of shady business practices! Gentleman came to our house to sell when I was not home, he was interested, heard what they had to say. Then.. convinced him to sign at the bottom of a form where he asked for names of any adults living in the house and our address to “see if we were eligible for any home owner discounts” so he signed, next thing I know a hard inquiry to my credit appeared. Ummm, excuse me.. when did I give permission for you to pull my credit? My husband doesn’t even know my social nor did he give him his.. Guy came back next day and I asked him how he got my social.. He said he didn’t, but showed me at the bottom of the form where he told him to sign and it said we may pull your credit. Ok firstly, I didn’t sign it, secondly, pulling my credit off my name and address?? Oh noooooo! Sorry, this should be illegal. Dropped my credit by 11 points just by them doing this. I’ve worked hard on my credit to buy this house and this is just wrong! Need to train your salemen to not lie in order to get that signature. He very clearly didn’t tell him that was being done..l

    I wanted an alarm system as my wife was developing Alzheimer’s Disease and she wandered at night. I wanted something to wake me up if she walked out the door. The AMP salesman stopped by with aggressive high pressure sales. I caved before shopping around. It’s expensive. The sensors on the doors fell off as the glue pad didn’t hold. The company demands $750 to cancel the high priced monthly subscription. I wished I would have shopped around. Simply….I don’t like this company at all.

    This system worked only about 2 weeks .Was installed in my home by a boyfriend that was going to pay the cost.Amp ran my credit and bill me for the system I never signed a contract and never recived one. They installed in my home when I was not home with out checking anyones credit till after completed.Now they want cancel out of my name. They have poor install cut my paneling up for display and left wires so the door and cameras can be cut from outside. Beware of this company 99.00 charge ended up close to 400.00

    Unlike other monitoring companies, Amp Smart is not open 24/7/365. If you have a problem you must e mail them and a tech person/customer service MAY contact you in 48 hours. My system has continual issues with sensors. Techs have no real answers. When I ask if I can have my sensors serviced, I am told to wait for another call which may take another day. I get continual calls that my Glass Break sensor is on alert when nothing is really happening. They WILL alert the police even when you ask them not to. Extremely bad customer service. I wish I had never signed up for this. I can’t trust the system and now rarely activate it because I’ll always get a call saying my system is sending alerts. And even when I say don’t call police, they do anyway.

    I was approached and was told that I would receive free system and monitoring for placement of a sign in in yard. After got started on paperwork I find out I have to pay 49.00 monitoring fee. A bit later and Now an activation charge. sheet shows normal activation at 349.00 and I was getting reduction to 49.00
