  • Equipment: AMP Security uses Honeywell equipment in their home security systems. The Honeywell Touch i5000 is the brains of the AMP Security system. Some of Honeywell’s Touch i5000 unique features include full-color touch screen, two-way voice GSM cell, news alerts, and home control integration.
  • Special Features: Geofencing is smart automation feature offered by the alarm company. It is a digital perimeter around your property that allows users to link AMP system devices. Customers can sync their AMP alarm and AMP Smart home automation systems with a smartphone so your home knows when you are away or approaching. When you come within a predetermined distance of your home, the mobile app network will prepare your home for your arrival without having to use the control panel.
  • Monitoring: Home security and automation can all be accessed and controlled from mobile devices via the AMP mobile app. Availability, however, is dependent on different monitoring options and what is chosen. Some of these options allow you to control your security system and watch video monitoring of your property with your smartphone or computer, yet some do not. The garage door, lights, air conditioning, locks, and even TV can be preprogrammed to how you’d like them for your arrival.
  • Cancellation: If you have AMP Security and decide to cancel it will cost $1,250 or the remaining of your account balance, whichever ends up being less. In addition, it is difficult to find information on AMP Security’s pricing, installation cost, or contract length on their website. We called AMP customer service to retrieve that information, they told us we would have to be contacted by a sales agent at their earliest convenience.
  • Our Recommendation: While they offer quality equipment, the high cancellation costs and other unknowns prevent us from recommending their services. Prospective customers should look into Protect America and Frontpoint.

    You will get stuck in a long contract paying for a system you don’t like. Early cancellation fee is $1800. They play the legal game better than the security game.

    I had a salesman talk with me regarding putting in the ampsmart security ! He did his job on selling but NEVER INFORMED ME ABOUT RUNNING A HARD CREDIT REPORT!!!! Of course they say we need a signature to go ahead and get things started but not informing me that it’s a credit check! That means they have you on the phone and sign at the same time. Watch out for what u are signing ask what it is first! I can say shame on me! I’m also writing to the bbb as well!!!!

    If I could leave a rating less than 0 – I would.
    They have horrible customer service if anything is amiss.
    They have a 60 month – yes 60 months (that’s 5 years) – and forget about trying to get out of it, even if you join the Peace Corps. I was told that was a volunteer service – so the best they could do is put my account on hold for 6 months but I still have to pay the 6 months eventually.
    Only way to get out is to pay 1,250.00 or sell your set up to someone else – maybe your enemy (is the only person I would give AMP too).

    Doorbell camera works when it wants to. Called and they said the panel was installed to far away from the doorbell. They want me to pay for a repeater and a tech to install it. Garbage company. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone and when my contract is up I’m out.

    Amp smart home security systems are the best to have. They are specifically geared to each individual home & work absolutely amazing! I love how I am able to control my home when I’m not home on levels that i haven’t seen a with any other company!

    Terrible, Poor Customer Service –

    Everything was fine until I attempted to move. I scheduled a move date and transfer of service 1 month prior to moving. AMP called 2 times to tell me a technician was not available on the days I requested. As you can imagine with moving, scheduling can be difficult. Once everything had been scheduled, I was called at 8:00 PM the night before the install to be advised it would not be completed because the install tech didn’t have the equipment. I am not sure how this was possible with several weeks of notice. When I called to explain my frustrations, I was told they could reschedule for 8 days later. I asked for a credit on my bill, to which the customer service rep replied “It is only a few dollars, and we typically don’t credit for such a small amount.” At this point, I was irate and asked to speak with management. I am currently still waiting for management to call me back. This is after the 48 hour promise I had to get a resolution. I simply just want to cancel my service due to all of these issues; however, I am told I still have to pay the early termination fee. Even though, the reason I want to cancel is because a failure of AMP to provide the service I signed up for. I am shocked that in 2017 anyone can still operate by this level of poor service. BUYER BEWARE!!!

    Love!! I had recently been thinking about getting an alarm for my house since I just moved into the neighborhood about 3- months ago and AMP Smart exceeded all my expectations in what I wanted in a security/smart home system. Love my doorbell camera. The sales representative was wonderful and I really feel like she did an awesome job with all my concerns. Was very impressed with the same- day install and how professional the technician was with answering all my questions. I would highly recommend this company. I did door-to-door sales in college so trust me when I say take the negative reviews (such as late knocking, no soliciting signs) with a grain of salt. My experience with AMP Smart so far has great. Thanks AMP for my smart home!!

    There is no place to start at how BAD this alarm company is!!! I left ADT after 30 years of service to go with these rude, lying, pathetic people. DON”T DO IT!!! Buy a DOG instead – he will do more for you and your family than this place. The sales pitch bull crap that was give to us is a down right out LIE! Not one thing the sales person told us is true with this company!! I got screwed. I am trying hard to save anyone that hasn’t already!!! PLEASE, Please, please do not buy into this mess!! ADT was and IS SO much BETTER!

    After not reading my ”no soliciting'” sign, the sales person very awkwardly told me that he wanted to ask if I would help him and his boss out by putting one of their signs in my lawn since my house gets “such good traffic”. Why would I agree to advertise for a company that I’m not even using?
    He didn’t even bother introducing himself or his company, just kept tapping the “amp” sticker on his binder. Very strange. I politely said no and locked my door. I would think it would be appropriate for the security sales person to make you feel secure, not creeped out by unprofessional behavior.

    AMP is by far the worst security company i’ve ever had! The sales tactics used by the representative was very pushy & fishy! Customer Service representatives are Nasty! I was misled about the cancellation time frame. They are ting to make me pay thousands of dollars for a service i had on had for 5 days! Do NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

    These people are crooks. Their salesmen are pushy. Once we cancelled. Nothing but harassment. Salesman came back united, several times. Promising the world. This is so we would keep the system. Took over a month to get our money back. Do not do business with them.

    Amp has the best equipment in the industry! I can manage my doorbell camera, door lock and garage all from my phone. Definitely impressed by their products and services. Best part about this system is I have a rare lock and warranty on all my equipment for 5 years :)

    Not very happy with their customer service. We’ve had hall motion detector issues twice. First time the tech came out and really didn’t do anything. Because guess what? About a month later, same issue. Then the tech never called/never showed up. That’s after us rearranging our schedules to be home for this. Had to do this twice! The next tech came out and fixed the problem. He was great. However, woke up this morning to find the whole system down. Not working at all. So, first we had to wait until the company opened up in Utah. So we wait. Then the scheduling department tells us that the earliest a tech can come out is Friday. Today is Monday. My husband spoke to the girl first. Apparently she kept saying that she couldn’t get anyone out sooner. Oookay. Then I called to climb the chain and spoke to Lizzie in scheduling. Best she could do was call the technician. He said he’d try to get to our house, but couldn’t guarantee it. I called a 2nd time (that’s 3 calls to the company in one morning) and spoke to Steve who is customer service manager. He at least had good customer service skills. He listened and told me he’d make our house a priority in case anyone cancelled. I realize other people have been waiting for the tech and rearranged their schedules, but you would think the company would allow for some prioritization or wiggle room in the schedules for priority issues. That makes for a very frustrated client.

    Bait and switch tactics! Do not let these sales people come in to your home. They take advantage of the homeowner (especially if they are older). I was told so many things that are not true and I fell for it. I have a Guardian sign in front of my house, but I do not have Guardian, I have AMP. ?????My thermostat was replaced with a cheap one (I was told that all equpment was Honeywell, a reputable company).     Deceitful sales man. Originally night house that had Guardian and then a year later got a letter stating our contract was sold to Monitronics. 2 months after that Guardian salesman, Grant B, came to my door saying Guardian wanted our business backend by doing so they would up grade our system for free. All I needed to do to cancel the service we had with Monitronics was so wrote them a letter stating they would like to cancel our acct. in fact Grant wrote the letter himself on my computer with the address and information for Monitronics. Got a letter from Monitronics stating we r under contract with them till 2020 and can’t cancel. Called Guardian to have them resolve and they said it wasn’t them that sold me the contract but a third party call AMP Security. I had to cal them which they stated that in order to get out of their contract, I would have to pay $1250 or I would need to submit the buy out of the Monitronics contract which they may or may not pay out, since it would have to be approved by upper management.     This is the email I sent to their corporate office.

    I am writing you to inform you of the unacceptable service that your company is providing for me. Your company came knocking on our door to sale your alarm system, we already had another alarm company which was working fine, but the salesman convinced us that your service was a lot better so we signed a 5 year contract. This occurred on January 6th and was installed the same day. The alarm worked all of 4 days day before it started malfunctioning, we called for service on the 11th and Guardian said they would set up a call for service with AMP and AMP would call us within 48 hours which they did not we had to call back again several times to speak to someone at AMP and finally a service call date was set for January 23rd, on January 3rd someone from AMP called and said that the tech person could not be here until February 13th which this is unacceptable so I called the company back that day to speak to a supervisor and was told a supervisor would call me back either that day or the next day, no one called, Today January 26th I called AMP and asked to speak to a supervisor but was not allowed to instead they said they would talk to the floor supervisor first and let them know my issue, After being on hold awhile the lady came back and said that I would get a month free I told her that was still unacceptable to have an alarm for over a month and only have 4 days monitored and I wanted the alarm fixed before February 13th , she basically said that was not going to happen until the February 13th. I told her if they could not provide he service that was contracted to me then I wanted to cancel the contact she said it would be around 1000.00 to do that. Why does your company provide such bad service by not fulfilling your end contract. Having a working alarm for only 4 days out (by February 13th will be) 35 days, This is not acceptable in any standards. Just to let you know this email will be send to the BBB along with a compliant, this will also be posted on all social media sites and everyone I know. You can not simply provide this quality of poor service and just say oh you will get a month free, I do not want a month free I want my alarm to be operational. I am going to everyone possible know what kind of company you a running before they sign a contract with your company,
