Home Geofencing

Geofencing is a smart automation feature offered by the alarm company. It is a digital perimeter around your property that allows users to link AMP system devices. Customers can sync their AMP alarm and AMP Smart home automation systems with a smartphone so your home knows when you are away or approaching. When you come within a predetermined distance of your home, the app network will prepare your home for your arrival without having to use the control panel.

Long Contract; High Cancellation Fees

If you have AMP security and decide to cancel it will cost $1,250 or the remaining of your account balance, whichever ends up being less. In addition, it is difficult to find information on AMP Smart’s pricing, installation cost, or contract length on their website. We called AMP customer service to retrieve that information, they told us we would have to be contacted by a sales agent at their earliest convenience.

About AMP Smart’s Equipment

AMP Smart uses Alarm.com equipment in their home security systems that feature voice control. Home security and automation can all be accessed and controlled from mobile devices via the AMP app. Availability, however, is dependent on different monitoring options and what is chosen. Some of these options allow you to control your security system and watch video monitoring of your property with your smartphone or computer, yet some do not. The garage door, lights, air conditioning, locks, and even TV can be preprogrammed to how you’d like them for your arrival.

Home Security and Home Automation Equipment (monitor with the AMP Smart Mobile App)

AMP smart locks – keypad from Yale to lock / unlock the door. You can check the status of your door through your phone and lock your door remotely.

AMP smart control panel – Smart doorbell camera – AMP uses the Skybell camera that works in virtually all temperatures. This 180-degree view lets you see who is at your door and offers two-way audio communication. You can record video, capture a photo, live stream, and night vision. This camera has a 5x zoom and 1080p HD. You can even turn the doorbell on silent mode.

Window and door sensors – Get a text alert when doors and windows are opened. AMP Security’s sensors are small, so they’re easy to hide, and they have a battery life of 8 to 10 years.

Garage door opener – Open and close your garage from your phone. The company’s Geofencing alerts you if you leave your driveway without closing your garage door.

Smart outlets – Plug the smart outlet into any electrical outlet to control it remotely. With the AMP Smart outlets, you can also set schedules and dim lights.

Motion image sensor – These motion sensors with a built-in camera so when your motion sensor goes off, you can see what is actually going on in your home. The motion image sensor records clips, live streams, and works at night.

Indoor camera – Record and live stream video with AMP Smart indoor cameras. You can also set up text alerts.

Asset safe – This safe is 0.5 cubic feet and has an electronic lock. Because it’s a smart lock, it notifies you every time it’s open. Features 2 emergency override keys.

    Just wanted to say that in my opinion Amp Smart is a amazing security company..the rep was amazing when I had a question she called her manager and answered my questions with no hesitation.Im very happy with my system. I feel very at ease and protected and my rep has also called me personally to make sure I was doing ok and I’m completely satisfied

    AMP Smart came by my house and disregarded my no soliciting sign, they wouldn’t leave immediately when my wife pointed it out. It was incredibly disrespectful. Terrible company!

    Best I’ve had to date! A lot more coverage than Moni provided for nearly the same price. Equipment far superior to what we had previously to include the added door camera . Customer service turned out to be superb in responding to a billing error with senior management getting personally involved to ensure our satisfaction. It is rare when we can highly recommend a company, but this one, so far, has proven superior to most!

    AMP failed to provide me with the service they promised. I was told if not satisfied with the service after 6 months they would return me back to the service I had prior to signing a contract with AMP.
    After 6 months AMP could not provide me with the service. AMP did not complete the installment. My garage control never worked, the glass brake was never installed, and the main panel is inoperative.
    If you have AMP Security and decide to cancel it will cost $1,000 or the remaining of your account balance, which ever ends up being less. In addition, it is difficult to find information on AMP Security’s pricing, installation cost, or contract length on their web site.
    End result, I had to contact an Attorney to resolve this matter. Buyer beware.

    `I had the system from AMP Smart installed in august 2017 was told to move out of my rental home in September because I had it installed in it. had it uninstalled September 26 2017 account was to be frozen until I Move. we found a home the first week of October signed paperwork on October 31st and asked to have the alarm reinstalled they told me that they could have it installed on November 11th 2017 and it was installed on November 13th 2017 I have been told so many times that October would be forgiven then turn around and they want there money. I have hade their equipment for 3 1/2 mounts and so far it has coasted me $379.00 and only used the system for 1 1/2 mounts and the system is not working right they will be back in December 14th to look at it. best advise is don’t use them.

    I’m slightly peeved right now, which is probably why I’m actually taking the time to write this review.

    My monitor has been a blank screen for a few days now, it originally was flashing low battery, then shut off.

    I called for assistance, super nice CSR, she spoke with IT and they said it is showing low battery, just plug it back in and give it 12 hours it should be fine… I then explained to CSR the unit plug is literally screwed to the outlet, as in you cannot remove the plug or it can’t fall out unless you take a screwdriver to it! So the next step is to send out a Tech to look over the panel/plug setup, however that will cost you $25.

    I then asked about the cancellation option, since I felt that the product itself had the issue, not due to our negligence and we should not have to pay for the Tech visit.
    She was happy to oblige then hit me with the $1200 cancellation fee…Seriously!
    Well go ahead and send out the Tech for $25, Gee Thanks.

    I feel that the Tech fee should be based on the issue at hand..if it’s an equipment malfunction, it should be their dime, not mine.

    I have had amp smart for less than 60 days. The sales man Kyle Seiter sold the system falsely and told me only what I needed to hear to sign. I was lied too and mislead by the sales rep. The door bell doesn’t work for my house. It is connected by an extension cord that I ran in the attic. I was told there would be an update soon that allowed the chime to be heard on the inside panel. After talking to the tech, he says that is 12 months away at least. I can’t hear anyone at the door cause it doesn’t chime inside the house only outside. I was not told I needed a existing door bell for that to work. I have a sign saying to knock posted by the doorbell. The z-wave light bulbs don’t work for the front or back porch. I have the wrong setup to run just one light. My switches run multiple lights and these light bulbs don’t work for flood lights. These bulbs are just sitting in the closet. The video camera disconnects and reconnects randomly in the middle of the night. After the last service techs visit (Sept 26th, the only way for the video camera to work is for me to pay for a wifi extension. The system is faulty, now they ask for me to pay for something else to get the camera to work! The worst part is on Aug 31 the alarm went off while I was away and I missed there call. 45 min after the alarm was set off, I was able to get ahold of someone and they said no authorities had been called ….!!! What is the point of any of this system at this moment? I was sold a alarm system that is wrong for me and my house. No one from this company will wave the contract that is threatening my credit if I don’t pay for 5 years or pay the outrages cancellation fee. They keep sending techs out to fix it and even the tech will speak to them about my issue, that only 1 of the 5 components work for my home. The customer service rep would not hear what the tech was saying. He is totally in agreement with what I am explaining. They refuse to cancel and want to replace the equipment with new equipment which I don’t need. They want me to pick from the list equipment to replace the things that don’t work for my setup. The only thing that would work is a front door pad lock. I have a front door pad lock. I don’t want to replace anything cause it is just there way of pushing me around. I don’t want the system! They won’t put a manager on the phone that will work with me. I don’t want the AMP SMART system. I don’t want you to send a tech to fix it, you won’t listen to anything the tech just told you today. I do not want you to trade/replace equipment for other equipment. AMP SMART I want you to collect your equipment and stop charging me ASAP. I will not pay your cancellation fee, I have had the system for less than 60 days and less than half the components do not work the way the sales man Kyle Seiter explained. You didn’t contact the authorities 45 min after an alarm was setoff. That is way over the line when that happened. Holding me to a contract after all this and AMP SMART not hold too there end, this is criminal. As a disabled vet who was taken advantage of at my own doorstep, I ask how can this be legal?

    We had a salesman come to our new home tonight. We have only had the keys for 2 weeks and he was in our driveway standing around as we pulled in (who knows how long he had been there!!!). He was very pushy and continually asked to come inside. When we told him we weren’t decided yet on a company to go with, he was very pushy and began to shoot down why every other company was worthless in his books. We told him we didn’t want to make a decision on the spot and guess what he did? He showed up a few hours later asking if we had made a decision. I told him our decision was no and he said he would be willing to write out a fake check number for us to “try them out”. That was instantly alarming to me. He also told us numerous times that they would give us installation and the equipment for free IF we signed today. Along with that, we had to “promise” not to tell anyone else that we received this $2400 value for free, but had to talk up how wonderful the company was instead.

    Long story short- BEWARE. This company was very fishy, their sales tactics were awful, and they are pushy beyond words… hiding all of the fine print while they talk up why they are much better than any others. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE.

    Horrible. Scetchey sales people. They were quick to put system in our home “unauthorized” and I’ve had two different appointments to have system removed and they have been no shows, no call or anything. They tore the ADT system from my wall (which was is MY name) all this without my knowledge. They did “finally” put my money back in my account because again it was installed without my knowledge or signature but the money was taken from MY account, they used a deposit slip to get my account information. They are NOT to be trusted and once that sales guy gets the system in your home no matter what he says you will never hear from him again even if you call and leave several messages. I’m in the process of having ADT reinstalled and I expect AMPSMart to pay for any insulation charges. I first have to get them to come get their system out of my house which isn’t an easy task.

    This Company showed up at my Mom’s home , she is 83 yrs old . Two guys came to the door and told her that the security system she now has is upgrading and changed their name . They proceeded to lie and misrepresent themselves to her . Then after the two men got her to agree for the changes , a 3rd man came in and they proceeded to take out her current system , changed everything and are now taking / debiting a monthly payment from her checking account . They should be put out of business . I have reported them .

    I live in an HOA with no solisitation signs clearly posted. AMP employees have been in our neighborhood for the past week. They have visited my home 4 times in 2 days. Have told me they don’t have to follow the posted signs on homes or the HOA entrance signs.

    They may have great products however our 680 home HOA is running them out of our neighborhood. POOR SALES TACTICS

    I had a salesman talk with me regarding putting in the ampsmart security ! He did his job on selling but NEVER INFORMED ME ABOUT RUNNING A HARD CREDIT REPORT!!!! Of course they say we need a signature to go ahead and get things started but not informing me that it’s a credit check! That means they have you on the phone and sign at the same time. Watch out for what u are signing ask what it is first! I can say shame on me! I’m also writing to the bbb as well!!!!

    If I could leave a rating less than 0 – I would.
    They have horrible customer service if anything is amiss.
    They have a 60 month – yes 60 months (that’s 5 years) – and forget about trying to get out of it, even if you join the Peace Corps. I was told that was a volunteer service – so the best they could do is put my account on hold for 6 months but I still have to pay the 6 months eventually.
    Only way to get out is to pay 1,250.00 or sell your set up to someone else – maybe your enemy (is the only person I would give AMP too).

    Doorbell camera works when it wants to. Called and they said the panel was installed to far away from the doorbell. They want me to pay for a repeater and a tech to install it. Garbage company. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone and when my contract is up I’m out.

    Amp smart home security systems are the best to have. They are specifically geared to each individual home & work absolutely amazing! I love how I am able to control my home when I’m not home on levels that i haven’t seen a with any other company!

    Terrible, Poor Customer Service –

    Everything was fine until I attempted to move. I scheduled a move date and transfer of service 1 month prior to moving. AMP called 2 times to tell me a technician was not available on the days I requested. As you can imagine with moving, scheduling can be difficult. Once everything had been scheduled, I was called at 8:00 PM the night before the install to be advised it would not be completed because the install tech didn’t have the equipment. I am not sure how this was possible with several weeks of notice. When I called to explain my frustrations, I was told they could reschedule for 8 days later. I asked for a credit on my bill, to which the customer service rep replied “It is only a few dollars, and we typically don’t credit for such a small amount.” At this point, I was irate and asked to speak with management. I am currently still waiting for management to call me back. This is after the 48 hour promise I had to get a resolution. I simply just want to cancel my service due to all of these issues; however, I am told I still have to pay the early termination fee. Even though, the reason I want to cancel is because a failure of AMP to provide the service I signed up for. I am shocked that in 2017 anyone can still operate by this level of poor service. BUYER BEWARE!!!
