The services are affordable and the product offering is diverse enough to cater to the needs of different clients. The monthly rates start at $17.95 per month and $45.95 for ‘Smart Home Solutions’. The alarm systems that they offer can also ride on existing systems in your house further reducing the installation costs and the subsequent monthly payments.
The Bad
Generally the company has very positive reviews from customers. However, there are a few important details about the packages they offer that are not properly explained on the website. The company’s website does not clearly set out the terms and conditions of the contract between Forward Home Security and their clients. Specifically, the terms of cancellation of contracts are not explained. The offers on the website are not applicable to existing customers and the information on offers such as free installation is not clear. It is difficult to differentiate between packages that come with free installation and packages that carry a charge for installation.
The Bottom Line
It’s up to you. According to statistics from government security agencies, a burglary occurs every 16 seconds in America. Investing in home security is, therefore, an important step in guaranteeing the safety of your property and your family. We recommend comparing to top companies before making a decision.
The Good
Forward Home Security (FHS) offers a home automation package that can be purchased separately on a piece-by-piece basis. For example, after a customer purchases the Smart Home Plus package they have the option to add on a number of other complimentary home automation packages, such as Smart Home Mobile (which allows remote monitoring via cell phone), Smart Home Energy (remote thermostat control), or Smart Home Anywhere (which allows you to control doors and windows remotely).
The best part about FHS top packages is that video monitoring is included in the Smart Home Plus package, which is not common among many other security dealers. With this package the following equipment is included (and other home automation equipment can be added on for an extra upfront cost):
- Touch screen Go! Control Panel
- Home security system
- Viewable Event History
- Automatic Email Notifications
- Real-Time Severe Weather Alerts
- Lifetime Warranty
- 2 Indoor Fixed Cameras
- Remote Video Surveillance
- 24/7 UL-Licensed Monitoring
- 36 month monitoring agreement
The Bad
While FHS has one of the best video surveillance and monitoring packages on the market, their Smart Home Plus package is missing many of the home automation features that are typically included in a top package offer. For example, most security dealers that offer a home automation package include thermostat sensors, flood sensors, light and door remote access, and garage door access. The only features that FHS includes that are common among other home automation packages are email notifications, weather alerts, and video surveillance options. All other amenities must be bought separately for an extra upfront cost.
The Bottom Line
FHS is a quality home security and offers a home automation package that must be bought piece by piece. Therefore, if you are looking for specific home automation features FHS would be a great choice since you can buy the individual features you are looking for without paying for stuff you do not want. However, if you are looking for an all inclusive package then FHS might cost a bit more since each part of the home automation system must be bought separately.
