I had fire, all alarms installed by construction builder went off but the alarm from guardian didn’t detect the fire, and they didn’t respond to situation. They said “there has to be more smoke” which to me is ultimately they want your house to burn down and then they will respond, then what’s the point of fire alarm ? I didn’t realize I have only 1 smoke detector by them on 2nd floor, no smoke detector in basement and no smoke detector in 1st floor or garage. So if there if fire on either basement or garage wait for it to burn to the smoke to reach to 2 nd floor and then they will respond. They are very smart, saved couple hundred of dollars by not installing enough smoke detectors. Not recommended.Was this review helpful? Yes

User Score06 people found this review helpful!The sign up process was horrible. They sent contracts via e-sign, which were incorrect, and did not include what was agreed upon. I refused to sign, they kept re-sending, with additional incorrect information. they finally agreed to send me a paper copy, but sent it to the wrong address. Still errors, which I crossed out and signed and sent back. They would not accept with corrections, so they sent another. FINALLY, we received an accurate, acceptable contract. Signed and sent back.
THEN, installation was over a month out – since they are “so busy”, BUT – my “rep”magically found a spot he was able to grab for me, which was only about 3 weeks out.
IN THE MEANTIME, while we were correcting contracts and waiting for installation – we had a fire, which destroyed the interior of the house. This being one week before installation – which was to include a smoke detector.
I let me “rep” (Eric) know, – and all they could do is waive the installation fee and offer an additional smoke detector.
THEN…I got the bill, which was sent to the wrong address again, and included the installation fee.
My rep isn’t calling me back – we will see how this goes.
And in the interim, I’m still waiting for window stickers, which I have requested at least six times. Turns out they were being sent to the wrong address.Was this review helpful? Yes -

Now Guardian wants me to pay over $3000 to break the contract. They never keep track of previous promises. Don’t use video services with Guardian. Get any promise in writing.Was this review helpful? User Score010 people found this review helpful!Last yr we had a salesman come and I told him no, kept talking to my husband, I told my husband no, we have ADT, and salesman was persistent. Explained to the man that we are both 65 and on a fixed income, said that it would be cheaper than ADT, yada, yada,etc. I had to leave for an hour, at that point the man was still trying to talk to my husband outside about installing the guardian system, saying how all our neighbors were signing up. When I came back aft an hour, walked inside and the man was still there talking to my husband. I told him again we didn’t want it, kept saying it would 58 for the first 6 months then drop to 34, aft that. I thought that was a good deal, then I noticed it had 60months on contract, he said no, that aft a year, if I didn’t want it , I could cancel, most likely have to pay 100. at the most if that much. After we signed it, and about 3 days later I called the man to try to cancel because I found out none of my neighbors got it, except for 1 and he lived in another part of our subdivision. The salesman was not in, left a msg for him to return the call and why I was calling, he didn’t call back. Called back 2 times and he never called. Waited till next day and called again, lady answered the phone, told her why I was calling, and
she said she would have him call me, I asked if there was any other number to contact, said no, I would have to cancel with him since he was the salesman. Again, didn’t call, called again next day, and was told by salesman that nothing I could do, contract was signed for 5 yrs at 60 a month, told him that’s not what he said or represented to me (he was at my house for almost 3 hours). It was more or less-tough tit**** lady, you signed the contract, I could have told you I was going to send Brad Pitt and have it installed it and then didn’t and there is nothing you can do about it. Thought to myself , ok, have to deal with this at least aft 6months the rates will go down -GUESS AGAIN. We are on a fixed income and cannot afford this, and they keep saying ‘sorry-you signed the contract’, beginning to feel the need for more gov intervention – isn’t this something like taking advantage of the elderly – you say one thing, and then gotcha. Right now looking into lawyers who help people over 65. This company is not right, how they live with themselves is beyond me – KARMA is a b***, and I hope it bites them hard in their a***. Excuse my language but this company really gets me upset each month when I have to shell out 60. Then my alarm has gone off three times this yr and they only called me once, no verification of pw or anything, the other two times/no call.Was this review helpful? Yes -
User Score110 people found this review helpful!After four years with Guardian Security, I am HIGHLY disappointed in my service. Over the years I’ve had alarms; there are times that they did NOT call to verify (the policy is to call even if a disarm has occurred).
When we replaced a door we needed a new sensor. That would have cost over $175 including the technician; they told me that there was nothing they could do on pricing, upgrading, etc.
We were outside our contract period, so we called to cancel after finding another company (Protect America – so far very happy with them), and all of a sudden they could do all sorts of things. Too little, too late, guys.. Worse still they FLAT OUT LIED. They told my husband that they were looking at our contract and it said five years; I spent over an hour, but finally found our original carbon copy of the entire contract. Their sales rep listed his name, crossed out the 60 month area, and wrote “1 year agreement” in a different section. If their rep screwed up (and he had called his manager while in our house), then that screw up is on them. He represented their company, and they have to honor that.. After over 45 minutes on the phone, they said they would let us out but that they COULD have forced us to keep it. Personally, I was willing to have them try and sue us just to show them the contract in court. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. All they had to do was be honest and if they didn’t like what their rep had done, deal with that later with him – that isn’t our problem. I’m still absolutely furious with the way we were treated and lied to.*** Please be aware that whatever their rep tells you, they expect their standard 5 year agreement to apply.*** They have not only unethical but contractually illegal practices, and I would pay a hobo in beer to stand on my lawn and yell at intruders before I would ever sign with them again.Was this review helpful? The sales lady didn’t ever mention contract was for 5 years. Upon request to cancel they are requiring full payment amount so this website is wrong when it says 20% fee.
She also stated ~1$ per day and that turned into almost 60$.

The company presents a fair rate that covers and offers everything, I did not get nickel and dimed to find out later on that I wasn’t covered. My alarm has gone off a few times and I have always received a quick response. Not to mention that with it being a privately owned company I felt that company actually worked with me and showed exemplarary customer service.Was this review helpful? Yes

That does not happen with Guardian, they are very very quick to call if your alarm goes off, which makes us feel very comfortable knowing someone is watching over your home. When you do call, their people are very friendly and ready to help no matter what your problem might be. We’ve been a long time customer and just a month ago updated all our equipment. The first time they got a trouble signal they chose to disregard it on their own accord. Guess what my home was ransacked ! The second time, they didn’t ca the police before my emergency contacts. When I found out about it I called the police myself and Guardian still did not dispatch. I just signed up with Nkther company who offers additional protection and a lower monthly payment amount!Was this review helpful? Yes

And never got a call from them. So I called them just to ask what would happen if the system was removed and they said you would get a call then I asked if they had gotten an alert and he said yes about an hour ago. And I told him I never got a call from anyone from his company. And told him his system was in the garbage where it belongs like there monitoring. The technician was very good and informative. My wife and I have 2 children and have had other security systems in the past but nothing has compared to how happy we are with Guardian. Very poor customer service.Cancellation fees are for the full amount of the contract, they want you to pay 3000$ dollars to cancel after the first month!
I wish I could het my hands on someone from their company but they contract everything out!
They wouldnt even come back and tie the existing siren to the system. I got a keypad from them and thats it.

Not to mention, we had NO IDEA we signed up for a five year contract. I have had 2 alarm emergencies during our time with Guardian and both times I know the Guardian system saved us from very real danger. The camera system helped the police catch a burger in our area. In mid- contract, the control panel installed by their local contractor is no longer communicating with local cellular network. After attempting to require me to buy a new panel or give me one on a new service contract they promised to install a replacement at no cost. Scare the heck out of little children, my little girl while my elder mother was being rushed to the hospital, unwilling to give me the code to disarm the system after it had been set off. With the firemen here, my baby girl screaming, my father had to rush back from the emergency room to contact these, uh, security dealers. And this was just on one occasion. My mother, having alshiemers, totally became distraught from the noise and same situation occurred, except this tw , the police showed up, luckily, and got my mother calmed down. My father decided it was time for the system to go. On top of the worst security help, charged my father almost $800.00 for an early cancelation fee. My advice, stay away from these systems.
I know, I know, read the contract, but we are talking about elders in their eighties almost ninety and didn’t know any better for the sales dealer for “making a sale” or taking advantage of people that think their words are true.

I was repairing the system and needed the master codes. after multiple phone calls and weeks later because they never returned my calls, taking to supervisors they decided not to give me the master codes and said i would have to pay a minimum of $100 for tech to come out and fix the system. I’m a disabled senior citizen who need the security….BUT not @ this cost.
A technician was suppose to come out and change the system to function on my cellphone, but when he came out he didn’t have all the needed equipment and had to go back to the office. User Score51 people found this review helpful!We’ve had Guardian for over a year and a half in a rental house. When we purchased their service, we were told that we could discontinue after 2 years. That sounded good as we had a 2 year lease.
We bought a house and called Guardian and were pretty much told that we were stuck and that we had signed a 3-year contract. The first lady that we spoke to seemed kind of proud that they had us. Unlike the printed area of the this web page, we were told that the only ways that we could exit our contract was: a) find someone to take it over, b) hope that the new occupant for the rental house wanted it, c) buy out the remainder of the 3 years, or d) agree to a 2-year extension by having them put a limited amount of equipment in our new house. Additional sensors to meet our needs were going to be something like $79 each extra. We are paying $39.95 for a system that we are not using; not $29.95 as this web page suggests. We were not told that there is a 20% buyout of the contract. Guardian has either lied to us, or this web page is wrong. The information on this web page is not accurate and needs to be updated.
When I asked to speak with the salesman that originally signed us up, they informed us that he no longer worked for them.
As far as the alarm service goes, it is good service. It always worked for us, but then we never really ‘needed’ it. We were able to log on through our smart phones, pc or the key pad.

They have just updated my system to the newest technology and I love it. (Way more affrodable then the other guys) The technician who performed my update was knowledgeable and very curtious he even vacumed up after he was done. My husband and I like knowing our family and our home are protected whether we’re home or not. Guardian is really easy to use– even our daughter has no problem arming and disarming it. We have the interactive features which make it convenient when I forget to arm the system on my way out or if we need to let the neighbor in while we’re away. It also sends us a text when our daughter gets home from school and disarms. Customer Service and Central Station have always been helpful and pleasant. The installer was pleasant, neat and made sure we understood everything before he left. Overall, we’re very pleased with Guardian.Was this review helpful? Yes

The people in customer service were helpful when I changed my contact information and password. I recently upgraded to Guardian’s new interactive equipment and so far I’m very satisfied with the switch. Now I’m able to arm/disarm my system, unlock/lock doors, change the thermostat and turn lights on/off all from my iPhone. The fact that I can do this at any moment is just great, it will come in handy when we’re on vacation. I’m glad a chose a company that keeps up to date with technology.
