    Don't get stuck with a auto renewing contract with this terrible company. The equipment is outdated and lacking of features. They offered me new equipment when I tried to cancel but couldn't come close to the cost of features of the other company I switched to.. they told me my account auto renews and I am in the middle of a contract even after 5 + years and are now charging me an early termination fee. Stay far away from them and look else where.Read More

    Our home was robbed on 12/9/16 we never received even one communication from LifeShield! We called them to cancel our service, after we tested the system again and it still didn't work, fire or security. They still wanted a huge cancellation fee. They said try this, do this, attempting to service the unit ourselves, still would not send out a technician or simply cancel service without a huge fee. Now 11/15/17 called to cancel again, contract is complete, system has been replaced by another company, and LifeShield crap is in box in garage! Still they are giving us grief about canceling service! Don't do anything with this company! They have only installers no technicians! The products they install are complete junk as well! Waning! The Good

LifeShield Security offers some of the most innovative wireless security systems equipment on the market. The essentials package includes doors sensors, a motion detector, fire sensors, a wireless security tablet, and remote keychain. The alarm company offers an advantage package that may include glass break/window sensors, motion detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors and wireless security cameras, among other security features. The keychain remote and tablet control panel for arming or disarming your home while safely away from the house are also worth mentioning. All systems and alarm notifications can be managed through the LifeShield app. They offer a lot of free products and monitoring services including equipment, remote monitoring via the mobile app, and fire monitoring. LifeShield claims to respond the fastest to emergencies, so you can always trust them to handle such situations in a timely manner and appropriately. Some other benefits include:

No alarm company is perfect, but it looks like LifeShield is working on improving their services. Here is why BHSC experts recommend their services:

  • Installation options – Customers have the ability to decide whether to enlist the help of a professional or save on costs and install the system on their own. The more options the better.
  • Inexpensive set-up – Unlike other home security options, LifeShield customers do not have to pay for all of the equipment and can even install the system on their own. This will save the customer tremendously as it pertains to setting up the system. There is no activation fee.

The Bad

Bad reviews about LifeShield Security systems are hard to come by; however, there are still a few issues that should be dealt with. LifeShield requires new customers to pass a credit check and sign a long-term, three-year contract. If customers wish to cancel but fail to do so within the 15-day grace period, they will be subject to early termination fees. There are also many reviews that make mention of the alarm monitoring center not being as responsive to alarm triggers as they ought to be.

    My Lifeshield home security hasn’t worked for 3 months and I’ve talked to numerous tech & customer service reps without success. It simply doesn’t work & this company could care less. Their customer service closes at 7 p.m., so unless you work evenings, don’t plan on getting in touch with this company. Again, my system doesn’t work.

    Do not under any circumstances sign a contract with this company.
    I foolishly have signed a 5 year contract and thank God this is my last year.
    The customer service and the system is awful.
    I have reached the end of my contract and have been trying for the last 3 months to cancel without success. I have called 4 times and each time spent at least 30 minutes on the phone being transfered to different people who in the end finally tell me for one reason or another they cant cancel my account.
    I am fed up I am writing to the better business bureau to lodge a complaint.

    I have been a LifeShield customer for about 5 or 6 years and have never had a single issue with anything. It is so easy to manage, was simple to set up, and we set it every day both when we’re at home or when we’re not. It’s been fantastic — and the monthly monitoring is so much cheaper than ADT which is what we had before LifeShield. Sign up – you won’t regret it!

    I was looking for a good alarm service, I had just relocated to a new area and was searching for security company that met my needs. Now at “sales pitch” worth selling because I was sold. So, i got the service in November 2017 very difficulty to install (my son had the tech on the phone and still problems). Now, every month i was calling the alarm company because the alarm was going off for no reason. i was sitting in my driveway when the alarm went off and LifeShield representative said that I wasn’t home and that he needed me to reset my alarm. I can’t get out the contract they make you pay the remaining balance so if i have 2 years left I have to payout the 2 years. I do not like this company I cant wait till this contract is over, I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

    If you care anything about your family do not use this company I’ve been offline for over two yearsnever received a phone call asking why the alarm has gone off three or four times without a phone call checking to see what the problem was but you can guarantee they take their monthly fee out of my checking account

    Beware of what you are getting. Ask the salesperson to repeat what you are getting twice. Be advised that what you get and the monthly payments are based on your credit. So you will not get what you ask for. They are currently introducing and month to month deal as well as a 30 day cancellation new customers who started the service on mid Feb- present. Meaning, if you are a current subscriber you are not grandfathered into deal and you are only entitled to what you signed on contract, so stop negotiating and threatening to cancel when you have a contract. The CURRENT system is REALLY easy to install. Just be weary that if you do not have high speed wireless internet , you may be left with some equipment parts or cameras for paperweight. SO ASK what internet speed you need. Lastly the customer service behind every phone is outstanding and the agents go through great lengths to make things happen for you. But you’re going to have to take their word when they say, “there’s nothing they can do”. But overall I feel the service starts at the point of sale and make sure you get ALL the info regarding the system.

    DONT DO IT!!! They lock you into a contract and lie about cancellation!! They told me it would be $15 a month for every remaining month on the contract but when I called to cancel (because Ive never once used it due to horrible equipment) They charged me the 15 a month plus $200!! So I’m going to suck it up and finish out the contract and tell everyone Not to do it!!!!

    LifeShield is the worst security system my family has ever had! The system consistently went offline. The alarm was triggered numerous times without ANY contact from LifeShield’s call center. We never missed a payment, EVER but when our alarm goes off while we are on vacation and no one is called and even with us going to our local police station and being told they were never dispatched to our address, which is what Life Shield told us, LifeShield won’t acknowledge breach of contract on their part and release us from the 3 YEAR CONTRACT you have to agree to in order to have their service.

    My family ultimately had to pay for two security systems, LifeShield and one that ACTUALLY provided security, for the duration of the LifeShield contract. We went with LifeShield because of the discount we received from our DirectTV service but it definitely was not worth it.

    Two alarm events, one for five(5) minutes and the other for approximately seen(7) minutes; I forgot to disarm system after returning home. However, in both events, no one from LifeShield monitoring didn’t call to ascertain if I needed assistance nor did law enforcement show up. I don’t think that LifeShield monitors its alarms systems. In my opinion, LifeShield is nothing but a scam.

    When i decided to leave ADT in February 2015 due to pricing and come over to LifeShield i thought I was making a wise choice. The customer service entices you will great plans of service and equipment. The equipment arrived but YOU are the installer. That part they failed to disclose. I set up all the equipment and billing began. The issues followed beginning with the wireless keypad. You could not have batteries in it and use the ac plug. So we were told by customer service to take out the batteries and use the AC plug and that we would see low battery on the keypad daily but it would still work. I battled the keypad on several occasions trying to get a connection when you arm it to go to work. I was told i would need to unplug it for 30 seconds and replug it in order for the connection to work. That put me behind in my daily commute. Then came terrible breaks in service throughout the contract period. The reason folks sign up for service is to have peace of mind. To constantly receive emails stating sensor communication lost does not give you that peace while you are away. This has been occuring over the 2years and 11 months i have been in service with LifeShield. Two weeks ago the alarm triggered a call from customer service 10 minutes after i pulled off to work. i came back to find nothing wrong and cancelled the call for police assistance. I went about my day again and 4 minutes later the customer service called again to report an alarm. I had them send the police over who found nothing and said it was probably a faulty sensor. I finally had enough of the service and decided to go back to ADT. I contacted LifeShield to cancel and was told my contract was not over until February 2018 and if i canceled prior to that there would be an early termination fee of $349 assessed. So to summarize if i cancel service in month 35 of a 36 month contract I need to pay $359 instead of the monthly bill fee of $50. BUT BEWARE…if you do not call and cancel precisely on the date, they can and will re-sign you to another year contract and you will be on the hook for that early termination fee. IT IS A CRUDE business tactic.

    Technician didn’t install/attach equipment securely so it keeps falling send false messages that the window is open. Also can’t bypass on the code panel to ignore so now I have to try to make it stick before I can turn the alarm on
    The touchpad nor code panel (box) stayed charged

    It was easier to just unplug everything. I will be cancelling as soon as my contract is over and going back to ADT.

    11/10/2017 Lifeshield DO NOT SIGN WITH THIS COMPANY Their customer service is horrible and the supervisor promises one thing and do not deliver on promises. I have had this service and although I call and complain every month about issues with billing, refund, how the customer services are rude, they auto renew my account and told me I had an early termination fee. And if a supervisor promises to work with you on refund you cannot get a hold of that person again. They say no one by that name works here.

    I subscribed to LifeShield Alarm System on June 26, 2017. On 10/25/17 I received a text from the dispatcher stating there was a breach of the system. I did not receive a phone call. I called LifeSheild to inquire what the breach entailed. I was told they had called me and left a message. My phone did not show an incoming call from them on the call log. They suggested I call the dispatcher. The dispatcher insisted they had called me and the local police department. They continued to insist they had called me and the PD. I then called the local Police Dept. and asked if they had been notified of a breach. They said they had not received a call regarding my address. This company falsifed the information in this matter and I am cancelling my contract with them. They are rereliable and dishonest.

    At the start of my contract, there were a number of months that, unknown to me, my security system was not being monitored nor program to contact the police as installed/and set up. (The main reason I secured Lifeshield was because I had a security concern with a dangerous ex.) I only discovered that that my system which I was paying for not being monitored when my alarm was activated by me and I was not able to turn it off (I did not remember the Code as I had been using a FOB that was not working) — no one responded; no call was made. At the time of the discovery, they offered to extend my contract for the number of months that it was not being monitored. (Why would I want to do that?) Now at the end of my contract, I have moved and cannot take or use the system. While I misunderstood the contract end date was one year LONGER than I remembered, Lifeshield will not allow me to cancel the contract and insists that I make monthly payments (but I was given a $10 / month reduction). This was the contract, so I appreciate that I am stuck paying for it though I get no benefit it anyway. However, the customer service rep informed me that essentially I had to contact them 30-days prior to the end of the contract to stop the charges at the end of the contract as they will not take a note or order it now — but she certainly made it clear that she was annotated it was my responsibility to call next July (10 months away) to stop their autopayments from hitting my credit card. Seems like in this day and age of technology and in the spirit of good Customer Care, they could stop autopayments at the end of the contract period IF THAT IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER REQUESTS. They won’t even commit to generating an e-mail message that reminds the customer at the end of the contract to verify whether they wish to continue with the service, but they are designed to continue charging the customer the autopay past the end of the contract. (Certainly feels they are hoping customers forget so they can keep charging them–and based on another review, they plan to charge you for another year!) No telling whether the monitoring still continues if the customer passes the end date, but Lifeshield guarantees they will continue to charge you! (I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE EVER AGAIN). Highly recommend if you want a customer-centric, reliable security company you look elsewhere.

    Best Feature about them is remote access. Their devices are cheaply made, have had issues with them falling off shortly after install. should had paid the little extra and stuck with ADT.

    Their Customers services is Lacking to say the least. They auto billed and sent us emails saying we were past due, so we tried for months to contact them to update info. And we couldn’t get a hold of them. Tried calling during their specific hours and they would state their hours which we were obviously calling during. When i finally got though to them they said they never received any of my emails and only received a couple of calls prior to our issues. Well duh, if i cant get though how are you going to log our calls? Anyways . after i spoke with Supervisor Jill, she was more pleasant than the customer service reps and took my cancellation payment down a little bit after i turned down her offer of trying to keep me. She honestly would had been only reason i stayed had i not already signed back up with ADT. only because of her am i giving them a 4. I was going to rate them 0-1

    The system works well since 2014 install. Just sold the home, moved to lease. Told the property manager we were installing our own, non-invasive or damaging security before signing the lease. He was skeptical until I demonstrated via the system website and he was fine with the install knowing there were no drilling, wires, and other damaging aspects.

    Setup at the lease home took about 30 minutes, switched the address, all set. The base unit is triple connected, no issues with ensuring the system is operational. The smart app is great.

    Also, as a note we were once with Brinks that was bought by the other “guys”. Complete switch from excellent to zero across the board, ended in a major battle to clear my credit from false reporting by the other “guys”.

    LifeShield has better technologies, simplicity, and functionality that hands down beats the other “guys”.

    Ordering additional equipment to enhance the protective system we already have in-place.

    I am using Lifeshield from past 4 years and somehow didn’t use the system much. Very highly complicated to install, parts and window sensor does work, they fall all the times, very bad security system. I requested them to cancel it from past few years and they said i have 63 months agreement and need to pay for next 5 years. Wow, they are crazy. You cannot remove your credit card from their profile. VERY BAD SERVICE, PLEASE DO NOT USE LIFESHIELD.

    I had this system for many years however the product rarely worked correctly. I persisted as the customer service was seemingly a bit helpful. however I would under no means recommend this, not only because of the quality but also the worst is they charge a bomb and when you wish to cancel due to work overseas or move to another place they still hit you with a huge cancellation penalty in the hundreds of dollars…… very very disappointing, a great money making machine, but the rest is pretty dismal.

    We purchased this seecurity system when it was named (Ingrid Security) in 2010. It is now LifeShield which is under the umbrella of Direct TV.
    First and foremost: The SENSORS placed on the windows are UNDEPENDABLE! Over the years we have had many sensors go bad, & you need to send the “bad” sensor back and this company sends you a new sensor at no charge.
    One night we were sitting in our kitchen & the alarm system was activated, telling us the “Backdoor” is open! The door was shut tight and the sensor was bad.
    We were away several hundred miles away this year and last year and the alarm system is again activated…LifeShield receives the alert and & sends the State Police to our home..each in the late evening. There was NOTHING wrong..again a bad sensor!
    We are viglilant about changing the battery in the home base unit and we know this was not the problem in either of these instances above.
    Today (7/20/2017) I called the LifeShield company to CANCEL this service. Josie (tech) informed me that their is a NEW updated system now and that she would sent this to us “free of charge”. She told me this was still based on the window sensor system and of course via the internet like our old unit.
    Why does this company not OFFER this FREE UPGRADE to users with older units such as ours?
    We CANCELLED LifeShield security systems for our home, as we feel this system is just UNDEPENDABLE. It may be cheaper than other companies, but if DOES NOT give us peace of mind. Neither my husband or myself could sleep last night when the alarm system again activated and the State Police were once again dipatched to our home for no reason; again a faulty sensor. The State Police informed us that we would be charged if this happens again!! NO THANKS Life Shield!

    I was under the understanding because I made clear as a single female that it would be hard for me to get the security monitor up that I would get days after I got it up to decide if I wanted to keep it. They forefitted me of that. I have been paying on this for 5 years and only used it for two. Even after they told me I couldn’t cancel When I did cancel they tried to tell me I had to pay the whole bill at once. But that isn’t law. I explained to them that isn’t right and continued to make regular payments. I feel they have taken advantage of me in large. I do not recommend useing this company ever! My house got broke into to begin with I was full of fear so I was definitely taken advantage of by this company in a few ways. I still to this day owe them for a product I wanted to send back and only used for two years yet 5 years later here I am still paying them. My advice for anyone considering this company is. Do not do it. It’s a truck!!

    Bought the system few years back for hundreds of dollars due to the advertising that I DO NOT have to be in any contract with any monitoring companies.
    They deactivated my system trying to force me to subscribe – calling attorney in the morning.

    My security did not work throughout my two years. Sensors didn’t connect, key pad didn’t work, main hub didn’t connect. When I called for service, they wouldn’t send a technician. They made me run through tests for long periods of time. When the equipment did not work they sent more through the mail that did not work. When I finally cancelled, I got to pay additional fees for early cancellation of a service that never worked. I’m be of the worst decisions I’ve made was to sign up with Life Shield.

    Sensors stop working. Cell service is non existent. Most days my service is unable to be armed. Impossible to speak to a human. Only computerized trouble shooting. Do. It sign up for this junk. Be warned. Be afraid. RUN FAST!!

    The ‘attention, Life Shield is now a part of AT&T Digital Life’ should read, “WARNING….”
    The system was installed in October of 2015. I’ve been on the phone with Customer Service and the “Solution Center at least every other month. There have been four Tech visits to date (28 DEC 16). The last was 21 DEC 16 and I’m getting another one tomorrow, 29 DEC 16.
    The system is constantly being knocked off line, you loose connectivity with the APP (Computer and Phone), you’re constantly being directed to reboot the system. CHAT personnel are locked into a script that leads to a Tech Visit. Phone people are sometimes very helpful in restoring service and, sometimes not so much or not at all helpful. Cameras record hours of snow storms even when sensitivity is turned down to the point the camera can’t sense people walking around. Fields of sensitivity aren’t of any use either. Cameras record changes in light so when a cloud sends a shadow over the field of view, the camera records it. Please please please tell me there’s a better system out there?

    With the recent upgrade to the 3G system Lifeshield no longer has enough area coverage to connect to all of the sensors in my house. The maximum coverage with the new 3G equipment is 30 feet from the base unit to to the repeater and then 30 feet from the repeater to a sensor. That is a maximum coverage of 60 feet. This coverage is insufficient for my house. When I called Lifeshield to let them know about this they told me that they would cancel the service and that I should throw the new upgrade equipment away. I now have no security system and will have to look elsewhere.

    This had got to be the worst security company in the planet! Let’s see… where shall I start…. faulty equipment, poor customer service, liars, thieves, now access to your account online and just out right horrible horrible company!

    I think the only way to put a stop to this company’s poor business practice is to seek legal action!

    I’m giving them a 1 only because the equipment is decent minus the couple of false alarms for fire immediately after arming it and them calling the secondary contact and skipping the primary contact all together and dispatching police and fire.

    Had issues with the account for 2 years with logins to the online portal and mobile app. I know the login wasn’t incorrect and the password reset function has never worked. They promised we would not be billed until the issue was resolved. After 16 months the issue still exists and we’ve been billed each month for 16 months. They insist it is user error. Seriously, I’ve been in the tech support/customer service field for 10 years. I know how to enter a username and password.

    There was also an issue with notifications being sent 3-6 times per notification via text and email even though the notifications no longer existed in the system and one of the phone numbers (my ex-wife) was removed from the account/notification system. This went on for about 8 months until they figured it out on the back end. During those 8 months I called at least once a week and they said it was impossible that it was happening.

    The billing seems to fail at least once every 2-3 months and they will tell you that you are overdue, but immediately after the first failed payment the payment will work without any manual effort.

    Their support doesn’t listen, they swear they will call you back within 24-72 hours (and they’ve never called me back). Save your money and go with….well anything BUT this company. Oh and when they sold the system it was Internet only with cellular backup devices you could plug into the wall or your neighbors. They never mentioned that they were planning on releasing their cellular control panel soon. They just wanted to make the sale and then refuse to upgrade the panel. They lied and said that they were working on a promotion to upgrade existing customers. When I called back I was told there was never such a conversation.

    It took life shield 25 min to notify the police
    First they called the fire department because they didn’t have the dispatch phone
    Then by the time they called the right number , I have already notified the police my self.
    We have very valuable stolen

    Useless service – I’ve just cancelled it and they charged me an early termination fee. Don’t consider this company and if you do, ask for a 1-year contract that way when you realize the value of their service and want to cancel, the termination fee will be minimized.

    ive had lifeshield since it was Ingrid. It was fairly easy to install, except the flood detector. There were some early issues with pets settting off motion detectors which they helped me with. Most important, it is flexible, portable, and reliable. Themonitoring service is excellent and most importantly, the customer service is superb. Every time I call I get through. If I am setting it up on a weekend, someone is there to help. They’re patient, American, intelliglble and have always solved my problem. I’m sure other setups, like simpli safe, are good, but i’ve had great luck with Lifeshield.

    I moved and now rent and the landlord will not let me put up the system and lifeshield will not let me get out of my contract without paying a huge lump sum, so I have to pay for another year and few months for nothing. Thanks AT&T and Lifeshield. I will never recommend you and tell everyone I know to stay away from your services.

    This has to be the worst company EVER!! Do not get this garbage of an “alarm system”!!!! I accidentally set the alarm off and it doesn’t make any noise my husband was in the bedroom and had no idea it had gone off!!!! When I called I was told it’s so loud IT’S NOT! The customer service is awful, I also called to cancel this after a few days of having it and was told I cannot that it’s already been set up? I cannot use the motion detector because it picks up my 30lb dog and was told the motion is for 80lbs and bigger! As the previous actual consumer wrote the tablet must be plugged in at all times AND I have to lay it down because of how bright it is in our room!! The key pad has to be plugged in or it shows there is an error on the app so it’s not wireless at all! We constantly get notifications of powered loss, back door lost, window lost!!! Get a real company, don’t waste your money and go for something that is quality and not a joke and lack of good business!!!! I hate that I have a contract with them and cannot get out without giving them an arm and a leg! DO not believe the only positive review it cannot be true!!!! A friend got this also and she is just as pissed as I am!!!!! I promise you if you get it you will regret it and it will be two late?????

    The monitoring part of company has always been great: have had a couple of false alarms and they always called back within seconds of the alarm to check in. No complaints on that.
    On the billing part of the company, they plain suck. On 3 separate occasions I have been overcharged for who knows what reason. I have automatic payment using my bank account and it gets deducted on the first of each month and those 3 instances they overcharged a month’s payment (twice) and two month’s payments (once!!) When you call they make you send proof (bank statement) of the overcharges and then 3-5 business days later they put the money back. Cannot wait for my contract to be up in a few months. Way technologically better and more affordable companies out there in the last 2 and a half years (time I’ve been with LS).
