LivSecure is a subsidiary of My Alarm Center, LLC. We found that the service offers a free quote and is also very easy for the homeowner to set up. LivSecure claims to also offer the best-in-class professional monitoring. There are also not hidden fees with each smart home security plan, which is a big thing. We found that there were three different plans that made it very easy for the customer to scale up or down depending upon their needs. These plans include the LivEssential ($34.99/month), LivEssential+ ($44.99/month), and the LivPremier for $54.99. One of the unique things about LivSecure is that even the most basic package still comes with a lot of features, especially the key fob and total home control app. We found that a lot of home security systems didn’t have an app available.

The Good

The first thing that we really liked about LivSecure was that the website provided a lot of transparency about what was included with each package, as well as terms of service and conditions. In the home security industry, you often have to make a phone call to ask about prices. Another common issue in the industry is that you get bogged down with some fees. We found that to be not the case with LivSecure. As with most home security services, we found that there is a requirement that you pay the balance of your service if you cancel before the agreement is up.

We were really concerned about the quality of monitoring. We found that everything was pretty good across the board here. When we called in, we found that they weren’t too keen on revealing the locations of their monitoring centers. We were simply told that there were “many” state-of-the-art monitoring centers that are located throughout the US and that all monitoring centers are listed with Underwriter Laboratories. We wanted to know more about the monitoring centers, like what types of redundancies that they have.

We liked the fact that LivSecure has easy do-it-yourself setup. The DIY approach makes it really easy not to worry about waiting on a security technician to come to your home and an extra setup fee.

There is also a warranty with LivSecure. There is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee (one of the most generous in the industry) and a 1-year replacement warranty on parts. We also felt that LivSecure was very easy to take with you if you moved. All you have to do is reinstall the new system in your next home and call the monitoring center to let them know that your location has changed.

The Bad

One thing we noticed about LivSecure was that you don’t get the option to scale up or down with your number of door/window sensors. As the plans get expensive, you only get three door/window sensors. We would like to see more door/window sensors included with the pricier plans.

Our biggest critique of the LivSecure platform involves the limited FAQs on the website. While there is a downloadable electronic PDF in the FAQs, a lot of questions are left unanswered. For example, questions about shipping and receiving are not answered. Additionally, there is not a lot of information available about the home video monitoring and service. There are some infographics available on the LivSecure website. However, we found that these were not the most useful. There is one on preventing false alarms with your LivSecure system, which was helpful. However, the infographics on home flooding and home automation didn’t directly apply to a potential LivSecure subscriber.

We found that both on the phone and from other reviews that there is a $99 setup fee. This made us question LivSecure’s transparency because, on the website, it says there are “no hidden fees.” On the plans page of the LivSecure website, the $99 setup fee message is there, but you have to look really hard to find it. We feel like the setup fee is unnecessary since you essentially install the product yourself.

The Bottom Line

We hesitantly recommend LivSecure. It’s a pretty new company as a division of My Alarm Center, LLC. We were really concerned about the setup fee. Also, there isn’t much information on the site available about the monitoring centers or their redundancies and safety features. While we like the features that come with the three different plans, we would ultimately like to see a little bit more in terms of customer support and transparency on the site.

    I signed the contract to get service from LivSecure. We attempted the entire weekend and after work to activate our alarm. Even though their site indicated they closed at 10:00pm EST, they closed earlier. Over the weekend they opened later than advertised and we received a message indicating all agents were busy. We left several messages and sent three emails, all of which were never responded to. Upon finally reaching an agent on Monday I was informed they had a lot of “issues” and the person working the phones over the weekend didn’t work due to a family emergency. What? Only one person mans the phones?

    Needless to say we asked twice for a pre-paid shipping label and we will be returning the unit thus canceling the contract.

    Great system and very EZ to setup and operate even for non-technical peeps. If you are a techy or a tinkerer this is the system you want. You will save lots of dollars by doing it yourself. And Livsecure tech support is a phone call away if you have any problems. One of the things i hate is buying a system only to find out that you have to buy expensive proprietary equipment to customize the system to your needs. In the case of the Livsecrue system, i was able to find inexpensive compatible devices that work fine. Zwave standard add-ons works well with this system and are easy to find. Of course the biggest value of any security system is reliability. It is extremely reliable. i have had it installed for at least 2 months now, no false alarms, no disconnects from the internet and the components all continue to register as fully functional. i recommend it to all.

    I have to brag on your employees. …I have yet to have a bad or even uncomfortable experience when I call with any questions or trouble shooting. Everyone has gone above and beyond to help me. So thankful for all the help they have given me and their patience! ! This keeps customers as well as had me referring Livsecure to my friends and family!! Again thanks so much!!

    I contacted LivSecure b/c I was receiving phone calls about a sensor error on my system. Diana contacted me back and was able to solve my problem right away. I have serveral systems with LivSecure and whenever there is an issue she is always able to fix it promptly.
