Moni Smart Security offers great smart home technology and equipment for both home security and home automation. There are three equipment plans for customers to choose from Basic, HomeTouch, and HomeTouch Premier. Each of the three plans includes basic system components, such as alarm monitoring services, a control panel, motion sensors, window sensors, and door sensors. The two higher plans provide extra features such as security cameras, remote system control, and text alerts. Other smart home technologies and alarm monitoring equipment, such as video doorbell security cameras, are also available. A mobile app for iPhone and Android users that acts as a remote control panel with many features. Users can access their Skybell HD camera and utilize the two-way voice feature. With multiple plans available to them, customers have the ability to find an option that best meets their home security needs and budget.

Low Upfront Costs

Moni Smart Security will provide its customers with free equipment and installation (minus a few exceptions), keeping upfront costs low and affordable. However, there are some fees to be aware of—more on those below.

False Alarm Protection

False alarms aren’t incredibly common, but they do happen. Moni Smart Security offers a number of protection features to help customers in the event of a false alarm. For example, the company will cover up to two false alarms each year. Additionally, Moni Smart Security will reimburse customers up to $50 for each false alarm. Few home security companies offer any type of false alarm protection, making Moni Smart Security unique in this regard.

Flexible Moving Options

Moni Smart Security offers free moving services to customers who have had a security system for at least a year and are up to date on their monthly payments. This offer comes with the option to extend the terms of the contract at the current rate for up to 24 months. If the customer is not interested in moving the system to their new home, Moni Smart Security will allow them to transfer the contract to their homebuyer or pay off the remaining balance.

Long-Term Contracts

All Moni Smart Security plans require that customers sign into a binding three to five-year contract for alarm monitoring services. While three years is the average contract length in the home security industry, there are some companies that offer a shorter contract length or do not require customers to sign an annual contract at all.

Higher Monthly Rates and Activation Fees

Although Moni Smart Security offers free equipment and installations, the company’s monthly alarm monitoring rates are quite a bit higher than those of other top-rated security system providers. For example, Moni Smart Security monitoring service prices start at $34.95 per month and only go up from there. In addition to steep monthly rates, the company also charges a sizable activation fee, which, depending on the package, can set customers back up to $149. Customer satisfaction reviews have suffered as a result.

Possible Rate Increases

The monthly rates advertised by Moni Smart Security are based on a 36 to 60-month monitoring agreement. However, actual rates could increase after 12 months, leaving customers locked into a contract and paying a higher rate than they were expecting.

    My parents live in Puerto Rico, they have been without electricity for over 8 month, however, Moni is charging them for months that they have not been able to use. Stating that the “grace period” for Puerto Rico has passed. It is unfair that they are being charge for a system that they are unable to use. Very unfortunate for my parents. Very disappointed by this system and the lack of humanity and customer service.

    They are a slimey company… They were originally Envision and they were initially monitored by Moni… I am 3.5 years into a 5 year agreement… In this time I see that my rate has increased 4 times…I had a contract that had a 5 year rate lock because my contract was for 60 months or longer.. As in any Contract I called because there was a breath of contract and because of that I decided to cancel the contract. I spent nearly 4 hours on phone and found out that they did not have the contract there…I can only say that 11 people whom currently have Moni have all experienced the same deal. Moni is scandalous and then they will badger,twist and keep you on the phone so you won’t leave them.. I left them and found a rate that was $6.00 better than there best rate they offered me which was $32.00 cheaper than the rate I was paying with Moni…
    I would say they are not local, they are overpriced and there service was horrific…. I would not use Envision either as they made themselves seem like they were local and they are just Sales People.. They sale all of there contracts to Moni…

    sales person said contract was for 36 month but it was actually 60 month . I signed thinking it was 36 because I would then after 36 month look for a cheaper service but the guy totally lied . After I looked at the contract nearing the end of service it said 60 month . I would of never gave up such a long contract. I will begin Better business bureau complaint and also get a hold of Arizona states attorney .

    WORST company ever! I have been a customer for over 6 years, always having issues with the system, after 3 continuous months of having issues with the system, I tried to finally cancel it.. They put me over 40 minutes in the line and told me that the cancellation can take up to 30-45 days! They will charge me again!
    They charge $40.00 per service (their equipment!) on every service call.
    30 minis to get a call responded.
    This company is a total scam!

    The worst customer service!!! Crazy fees!!!!!
    We were moving and contacting this service without know Moni deals with a 3rd party American Defense…. we had been trying to get with someone for over a week and when we finally spoke to Moni we were informed we would receive callback by the next day. 3days later we got the call from American Defense starting that we will be charged 150.00 to move services since we didn’t have our equipment in the home that was now sold. We were a bit caught off guard but willing to pay them the customer service and rudeness got out of line when asked why are we still paying a monthly fee for equipment we don’t have and being charged, I asked what was the equipment fee and was told over 1200.00 then asked if I was to turn in equipment what is the difference to terminated service and was informed 950.00. Ha!!!! Wth!!!! Very displeased with the service of this company. I have amazing CREDIT and they just make you wanna throw in the towel and say F it!!! Worst worst worst!!! Should’ve went with EMC!!

    I just can’t believe this so called Security / Montoring Co where did this company come from i have been paying this company for no service at all and they never notified me of anything or that my system was out of service for a year and then i canceled and stopped the auto payments and then I started getting notices when they were getting my payments I did not get a statement monthly statement at all no messages nothing the service is bad i wouldn’t let this sercurity company monitor my dog house for free!!!!! Just want them to cancel my contract for services not rendered. I have also made so many attemps to talk to someone about it but keep getting ignorant customer service reps!!!!

    They are so bad. They lie when I moved and cancelled my service I was billed the penalty total of over $500 for termination of contract. And year after..I still received a bill!!!! I kept calling them and they still haven’t cancelled my service!

    This company is awful. I thought they were good at the beginning but then the relocations department cannot fix the glitch where they keep sending me these emails over and over and over again in the middle of the night. I’ve talked to Whitney T. and I’ve emailed a company repeated times but nobody will fix this glitch. I would not recommend this company to anybody and I will post a negative review every time I receive one of these emails until it stops. I’m now going on to Google review and on to Better Business Bureau to post my reviews.

    This may be the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life. I am just simply trying to cancel my serviceAnd I keep getting the run around from the customer service. Back at the beginning of March I submitted in writing that I wish to cancel my service, 20 days later we received a letter from this company saying that The request lacked a proper signature. We re submitted the request cancel serviceAnd hadn’t heard back from them until we see if the billFor past due balance for services we haven’t received in 2 months. I will be seeking legal actions

    I have been with Moni Security for the past 7 years; and luckly for 6 of those 7 years, I’ve never needed anything out of the ordinary from this company. I sold my home approximately 10 months ago, and transferred my services to a new address. For the past 10 months, I have been billed for both addresses. I have called, monthly, for the past 10 months to get this issue resolved, with the same response (that it has been updated in our system, and I should get an update in 2 days), and the same outcome (ABSOLUTELY NOTHING). On top of that, they take the money directly out of my account so there is nothing that I can do from the online portal to stop their automatic withdrawls.

    I have never in my life seen such unprofessionalism, and an inability for a company to handle what seems to be a minute issue. It is beyond ridiculous, and completely frustrating, to say the least. I do NOT recommend this company to anyone that is looking to get quality service, and quick issue resolution.

    This company is a complete embarrassment.

    His had been one of the most frustrating companies I’ve ever dealt with. I waited until I thought my contract was over and called to cancel service. They informed me my contract was 12 months longer than I remembered it being. My bill has increased four times over the last four years, even though I signed a contract for a specific rate. They have no problem breaching the contract by increasing the rate, but will not let me out of the contract or help me with my rate, even though I moved.

    The customer is not the focus in their “customer” service. Had a false alarm while on vacation and police were called to my house to check it out. Tried to work with their customer service to figure out what wrong wrong and how to prevent it from happening again. They repeatedly told me the false alarm was impossible and refused to change their position even though all the facts proved otherwise. After an hour on the phone (with the shift “supervisor” , they agreed to send someone to check out the equipment, but I would be responsible for a $50 “co-pay” which according to the supervisor was a “good deal” (I refused their generous offer)

    I repeatedly asked to speak to the next level but was told “they weren’t working at that time”, but even if they were the next level “didn’t take calls” and address these types of concerns.

    I asked to cancel my service, but the center I called wasn’t able to do that and I would have to call the cancellations department, but they were closed for the day.

    The next day I called the cancellation department to cancel my service at the conclusion of my contract (in 2 months). After sitting on hold for 20 minutes was told I needed to call back on May 1 as they couldn’t capture a cancellation that far in the future.

    For a company that charges a premium on their monitoring fees, their lack of customer support is beyond unacceptable.

    I gave a rating of “1” because they do respond when an alarm is triggered. Take that out of the equation and a zero rating would be overly generous

    HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. When you call and talk to someone they can’t give you an answer about ANYTHING!! I cancelled my service when it was time to renew my contract. I was told I had to write a letter which I did. Forward 3 YEARS LATER and I get a call from a collection agency saying I owe $448.20 to Monitronics for services. I quickly let the collection agency know that I had cancelled my services and did not owe them anything. The collection agency went on to say that I did not write the letter to Monitronics and I indeed owed the bill. I tried to dispute the bill to no avail. I HAD to pay the bill because I did not want this on my credit report as unpaid!! I am sure this is one of the reasons they are NOT listed with the Better Business Bureau. NOTHING BUT A SCAM!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

    After cancelling the account with ZERO balance – they started to send me bills for over $110.00 for services I did not use.

    After calling multiple times (due to calls getting disconnected after 20 plus minutes of waiting time) the supervisor stated that my account will be going into collection.

    The first customer service rep told me the fee was for what the previous home owner never paid ten years before however the supervisor was able to come up with a different story which certainly made me question their credibility!

    Out of principle I wil have to fight this as it’s just not right!

    Called to cancel service and they made me call several numbers. Went through the whole song and dance and finally it was over and the service was disconnected. 5 years a loyal customer paid on time every month. They repaid me by charging me for the next 5 months and putting me in collections. You can do business with this company if you want, but I learned my lesson $380 LATER!!!

    Bought a house that has the MONI system, was told it was not active. After being in the home 2 months, every time I open a door the alarm screams with no way to inactivate it! Called MONI was told “sorry can’t help you” unless I paid up front $50.00 a month for 3 years! No they can’t send a technician this week, no they can’t send any literature, no can’t really do anything… ? with the alarm screaming in the background!
