Security System Overview
Security Equipment Inc. (SEI) offers a basic package that uses either Honeywell or DMP wireless equipment. Each package comes with installation and activation for $299 and $46/month This basic cellular package comes with the following:
- 1 control panel
- 3 door sensors
- 1 motion sensor
- 1 key fob
- Signs & stickers
- 24/hr monitoring
SEI services over 14,000 residential and commercial accounts throughout the Omaha, NE region. With over 125 employees and 44 years of experience and technical expertise SEI has opened full-service offices in Lincoln, Des Moines and Kansas City. One of the biggest selling points for SEI customers is their customer service and their commitment to making sure they are safe and satisfied. For example, one of their customer-oriented policies is a no-repayment cancelation policy, meaning a customer can cancel at anytime and is not required to fulfill the remainder of the contract. This is one of the only companies in the industry to offer such a policy. Additionally, SEI operates it’s own 24 hour, UL listed monitoring center. SEI customers are quite vocal about the customer service and its quick, helpful responses.
For the new customer the biggest downfalls are the high upfront costs and the limited warranty. Typically, a security dealer that requires a three to five year contract will only require $100-$200 upfront, but SEI asks for more than double that. This might be a deterrent to those looking to save money initially. Second, their warranty only covers one year parts and labor. Since most customers will have at least a three year contract they will have several years of uninsured equipment.
