  • Low monthly monitoring cost, high upfront fees: Monitoring plans are from $14.99/month to $24.99/month. The more expensive plan is called the ‘Interactive’ plan which gives you SMS/email alerts, secret alerts, and the ability to arm & disarm remotely. You pay for your equipment upfront which typically ranges between $200 and $500+.
  • No long-term contracts: Simplisafe does not require its customers to sign into lengthy contracts. Instead their contracts are month-to-month and you are paying for your equipment up front.
  • Equipment: all standard types of home security equipment is available and customized based on your needs. From window sensors and motion sensors, to security cameras and smoke detectors. Simplisafe also has an app that allows you to manage your system remotely. The one downside with their equipment is that it’s a DIY installation. This is a downside for many who seek to have a system installed for them professionally. The equipment you purchase has a 3-year warranty and a 60-day money-back guarantee.
  • Simplisafe is a really good home security option for renters: the system is wireless and portable, making it perfect for renting situations.
  • Simplisafe and hackers: in years past Simplisafe has had issues with their hardware getting hacked as reported by Forbes back in February 2016.
  • Main customer service issues: according to customer reviews we’ve received, chief complaints center around technical problems with the equipment, long customer service and monitoring center wait times, and issues with receiving the wrong equipment.

    We were broke into with the newest version of simplisafe, and the burglars must have watched the video on Youtube on how to smash the base station within the delay period before the system can call the operators, and we got cleaned out. The burglar took a magic marker and wrote on the living room wall: BUY A REAL ALARM NEXT TIME. I have a photo of it. My insurance company is not covering the claim because they said that Simplisafe is not UL Listed. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. We called a local company.Read More

    The quality of the equipment is terrible and you can't rely on it - it loses periodically connection to the dispatcher center or keypad loses connection to the base. Also, my keychain remote stopped working - and I have it for just about 18 months.. When calling cust support you need to be at home and then you'll spent half an hour doing various testing and resettings. It starts working again but then after a while the same issues come back. Last time when I tried to call the customer support, i spent over 15 minutes waiting to get connected and listening the music and then just hang up. Sick and tired of this, and looking for another and better company, just wasted about $400 on the equipment. Don't wast your money.Read More

    I have had my simplisafe system for one year now. I couldn’t be happier with it. No false alarms, Easy installation. Monitoring is super fast. When testing was called within 20 seconds. Love that I can monitor and control it from my cell phone. Has battery backup when power goes out so it’s always armed and monitoring. Would recommend this to anyone.

    We installed 12 entry sensors, 2 glass break sensors, CO sensor, smoke detectors, freeze sensor, and 2 motion detectors last year.
    I even have them on my outside gate to SMS text me when it’s opened. The base unit connects to the cell and is very reliable, and we love having the iPhone App.
    The system is FLAWLESS and EASY to install.
    Calls from monitoring center are FAST when one of the kids forget it’s armed “HOME” and goes outside. LOL or when we place in test mode each month.

    In my humble opinion, if you have problems installing and programming this system, you deserve to be ripped off each month by the other alarm systems and installers. It can’t get any easier.

    I’ve installed SimpliSafe systems in my home and my daughter’s townhome. Easy to install and works great. Have interactive monitoring and I love being able to activate or disarm my system and get system activity updates on my iPhone.

    I have been using simplisafe for over a year now. First of all the instillation was simple. I have added to my package by adding more smoke detectors and carbon monoxide my insurance also gave me a 15% discount. The only reson I don’t rate it a 10 is that it uses tmobile which is not available in our area so therefore it goes thru our internet which is fine as long as we have electricity. The product works as advertised and would highly recommend it for the price and service it is the best out there.

    In 40 years of having alarm systems, I have never been as happy as I am with Simplisafe. Great product. Simple to install. Very reasonable monitoring fee. Dependable monitoring service. Outstanding customer support. I cannot find any faults whatsoever.

    I think SimpliSafe should tell people that no matter how hard they try SimpliSafe just simply doesn’t work in some areas and they really should refund their money when it doesn’t. I know it doesn’t work in my area and there is no logical reason for that. It’s not like I live in the country, off a dirt road or in the wilderness. I live off two main roads where I get every other convenience. I didn’t want to connect to a phone line but when it wouldn’t work any other way I tried a phone line, troubleshot with someone from SimpliSafe for a looong time, opening up the remotes and trying several things and then that didn’t work. This has just been a complete waste of every dollar I paid for it. I so needed security and this so didn’t offer any kind of security. Invest in a system that works.

    I have had my system over 6 months now and really like it. We use it to monitor temps in house and dog kennel. It is also handy to know when my son gets home from school. Hoping they come out with a camera soon.

    Had the system in place and running for 6 months. So far all is great. Love the flexibility and customization. The $24.99 / month full interactive monitoring is great too. No false alarms. I love that I can add a sensor or component without the need to call a technician (and pay $150). I have the Verizon base station and yes, I do have good Verizon reception at my home. Customer service has been on the good – very good scale for me. I find the negative reviews to be largely from non-tech competent people or just plain complainers. My wife is not tech savvy but loves the smartphone app and text notifications. So far, great. Video cameras (to be released later this year) will seal the deal.

    Awesome alarm system.I have ADT and they are pretty cool too its just one night there was a fire in my garage and I had an alarm go off and no one called even though I pay the bill, I would highly recommend simplesafe securit.Had no problem so far besides my german shepherd max knowing how to open my sliding glass door and the alarm base station didn’t send a message to the company,HOWEVER I called simple safe and they sent me a new one right away at only $5.99 for shipping!

    First off, I only gave this an “8” because we haven’t had a need to see how the alarm response time is. It installs smoothly, set up is easy and convenient. I am currently under contract with another company at my rental home for double the price, but the “equipment was FREE”. Well, for the 42 month contract, equipment and all, I will pay almost 1400.00 more with the contracted equipment. Big disappointment to find out I am overpaying by that much.

    So far, very happy with the SimpliSafe. I can set it from my phone and I can tell when the kids get home.

    We like the system and fact there is no contract for alarm monitoring.
    We installed it 1 month ago and had no issues until this weekend. Returned from a business trip and base station mentions there is no link to dispatcher. Tried to trouble shoot as people recommended on forum (unplugging base station and removing batteries to reconnect to cell signal) and it didn’t work… We don’t like that Simplisafe doesn’t have 24/7 support. Fact that you can’t call during nights or Saturdays is making us reconsider this system. If alarm doesn’t work it’s pointless having it and if tech support isn’t available to assist right away it might not be the best option for our family.

    Wish it wasn’t the case as the system and components are better than average. Plus the alarm monitoring has reasonable rates! Will gladly update my review after talking with tech support…

    I’ve now had my system for about a month and everything has been exactly as SimpliSafe said it would be. The system is the easiest high tech device that I’ve ever programmed. There are several innovative pieces to the system but the programming is the best. It was very easy to install and mine was done in about 20 minutes including the setup using the keychain remote’s USB interface. The monitoring charge of $14.99 per month is very reasonable compared to several other vendors. Another good feature is that if I ever move I can take the system with me which is another real plus. Last but not least, SimpliSafe’s customer service is excellent, they are very well versed on their products.

    I’m a happy customer and would highly recommend their system to prospective buyers.

    I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE SYSTEM AND SERVICE.
    NO PROBLEMS AND HAVE UPGRADED AND ADDED MORE SENSORS TO ANOTHER DETACHED GARAGE AND NO ISSUES WITH FALSE ALARMS OR PROBLEMS AT ALL. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS ALWAYS BEEN HELPFUL. THE ONLY ISSUE i HAVE IS THERE IS NO 24/7 HELP LINE OR HELP ON WEEKENDS. THEY HAVE ALWAYS CALLED ME BACK BUT WHEN i HAD QUESTIONS ON THE WEEKEND RHERE WAS NO ONE TO TALK TO.
    i DID NOTICE WITH NINI BLINDS IF THE BOTTOM BLIND SITS ON THE SENSOR i GET A RESPONSE FROM MY BASE UNIT THAT SAYS WINDOW OR DOOR OPEN. bUT THAT IS THE ONLY THING i HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH. i GUESS DO TO MAGNET AND METAL BLINDS. VERY HAPPY WITH THE SYSTEM.

    I used to have ADT. I was very unhappy how they monitor. Sometimes they never call me back even if my alarm went off. After many occasions of unhappy episodes, I finally switched to SimpliSafe. I have had this system for 10 days. So far it works as they say. Installation was simple even though I had hard time finding right spots for the motion detectors.
    Alarm went off once triggered by my cat. They notified me immediately by a phone and by a message to my cell phone. I understand they are using monitoring company as other big companies do. 24/7 monitoring with interactive control by my computer or cell phone cost $25 per month. I have multiple sensors including door sensors, motion detectors, CO detector, freeze detector, fire alarm and water leak detector. I can check the temperature of the area where the water pipe goes out side at any time using my computer or cell phone. I am impressed. If some sensors are malfunctioning, it tells me where to check.
    One complain is their equipment, especially the keypad has quite outdated and cheap look.
    Overall I do recommend this system highly.

    I LOVE my Simplisafe System! The BEST part is that I am in TOTAL control of the system from anywhere in the World! I love the fact that you can set the motion detectors to “Email/Sms text only, and anytime someone moves it shoots me a text! GREAT to let me know when kids go snooping around in my bedroom when Im not home! I have had a couple of smoke detector alarms go off merely by walking under one with a lit cigarette, they are REALLY sensitive! I had another smoke detector go off while I was cooking, so I think they need to modify these with Sensitivity Settings, but other than that I LOVE it! And Simplisafe called me IMMEDIATELY after the Smoke Detectors went off, so they ARE “On the Ball”!!!!

    Extremely easy install. I had the whole system up and running in about 1/2 hour. No wires to run, no need to watch online videos. Very easy to use the online registration and you can log on quick and monitor your system. Love the system and the price. Will be moving in the next year, and its nice to know I can take the system with me with no extra costs and can be set up again in a new house in less than 30 minutes.

    We installed the system after our garage was broken into. It was so simple. Husband and I installed in less than an hour and then I went online and registered every sensor. Hubby set the alarm off accidently, and I received a call immediately. We have a dog and a cat, 2 motion sensors and they have never set it off. I love being able to set from phone, pad or key fob. Wish they had a camera system. I recommend to everyone. (of course we live in a major city with good cell service). By the way, our city permit is $10 a year, with a min of 3 years. Check with the FD also. ( no fee for us, but have heard others required with all permits)

    Bought a system for my daughter recently. After a couple months the unit quit communicating with the monitoring system dispatch center. Tried to contact SimpleSafe from Thanksgiving on and unable to talk to live help/support. Seems like they had no coverage over the holiday or sense of urgency to get the system back functional. Thought about buying another system but I would not now.

    I own two systems one in a vacation property and one in a rental property. They both work very well.

    Plusses: Easy install, cost, and low monitoring fee.
    There are enough type of sensors to do a normal home. Call monitoring service worked well.

    Negitives: Motion sensor is a infrared only instead of a dual sensor detector. Single sensors potentially have a higher false alarm rate. infrared only sensors also make placement critical in order to aviod them being triggered by heat vents and sunlight.

    Overall excelent system and highly recommended.

    Good company and system works fine. The city of St. Louis however is preventing people from using this companies technology. They require you to get a $25 annual alarm permit. In order to obtain this alarm permit they require you to get an $85 electrical permit even though there are no wires. The system is basically like plugging in your cell phone to charge since it uses cellular data. After finding this out I refuse to pay the $85 extortion fee and wonder when they will try to require me to get an electrical permit to charge my cell phone. No wonder St. Louis City has the highest crime rate.

    I have used this company for 5 years and love it. Upgraded systems a couple of years ago and installed the old system at my mother’s home. When Mom has questions she is able to work directly with customer service without me getting involved. She recently had to change the batteries in the old system I gave her and did it with no problem. I have moved from an apartment to a small house and the transition was great. After the move the cell towers reception changed and they instantly sent me a new card for a different carrier. At no cost! Customer Service is great, they even keep Monitoring is cheap, easy to install, and reliable.

    I’ve had SimpliSafe for 2 months now with 12 entry sensors, 3 motions detectors and 2 smoke alarms. I also have three 50+ pound dogs that have never set off a motion detector. I test the entire system weekly because it’s fun to try to beat it, but I never have. The installation was quick simple and easy but I live in rural backwoods Florida the cellular connection wouldn’t connect. I called, was on hold for a minute and they rushed me a Verizon module that works great.

    Great product and support at a low cost with NO CONTRACTS!

    I orderedy system yesterday. I got online to set up an account and was pit on hold for 20 minutes the first time and about 5 min. the second time. Does this company operate this slow when calling for police ? I am seriously considering canceling after one day. Beware new buyers !

    Have had system for almost 2 years. Have updated to smoke detectors. Roll out of detectors quickly found bugs with them and majority had to be replaced. Roll out was almost 2 years later than first announced.
    Excellent customer service. . Company needs to expand Cell carrier service. T mobile is the only Cell option which is very limited in many areas of the country.

    Have used the Simplisafe product for over 6 months and love the security. Easy to install, a couple of false alarms but the co. called before sending the police* Adjusting the position of sensor (s) solved the problem. 3 cats, cat trees etc have not been an issue.

    *the alarm goes off and you get a call just about immediately from Simplisafe. Very impressive.

    I bought simplisafe after my house was burglarized….so typical right? Had I known something like this existed I would have purchased it. After I got it, it took about 45 minutes to get the whole thing installed. One thing though the adhesive tape the sensors come with is pretty useless, I used the screws. After I move to the next place where I am leaving now, the doors were kind of weird so instead of drilling, I went to the hardware store and purchased heavy-duty high-quality 3M double sided adhesive tape. It worked great. I had the whole house wired in 20 minutes, including easy reactivation of the system online. SO I am super happy, just wish they had video option too, Definitely a great value.

    This is a great great system. Forget the complaints about animals triggering the alarm. Just follow the directions and install the sensors upside down to change the scan angle. My equipment is also of good quality with no false alarms and that includes 3 door sensors, 11 motion detectors, 3 smoke alarms and 1 freeze sensor. You get to buy a package and I have added on additional components specifically for our needs at a reasonable cost. The others give you too many or too few individual components and charge a kings ransom for additional components. They are sending me a Verizon module for improved cellular over T-Mobile in my area. Tests have always resulted in a quick return call from dispatch within 1 minute. Maybe SimpliSafe had early growth pains based on the other reviews but I have had only great results. So well designed with the base station sending dispatch calls instead of a keypad that can get smashed. Best of all, at $15 per month, this beats all the rest. I have a fantastic solution at a great overall price that I feel extremely safe with. I literally set it up in no time and saved the cost of a sales rep and distributor by going direct to the source. What’s not to like?

    Really love this system. Customer Service is fantastic. They can quite readily answer ANY question I have and I ask some tough questions!

    VERY easy and quick to install. Great videos on how to do it if necessary.

    No false alarms. After a huge electrical storm the system worked as well as always, but a keychain remote wouldn’t work until I removed and re-installed the batteries. First time that happened in the year I have had the system.

    Their monitoring service is VERY QUICK to respond to my accidental tripping of a sensor wanting to know my all-is-OK pass word.

    What I don’t like is that the motion sensor is tripped by my cat that likes to climb in front of it.

    Unfortunately it appears you get what you pay for. Like most, I signed up for this system for the monitoring cost and ease of installation. However, like other customers, I’ve had malfunctioning components and poor monitoring service. I’ve had two motion sensors cause false alarms with no actual entry by any person. They didn’t cancel the police after we had cancelled the false alarm (caused by faulty motion sensor), so we ended up getting charged by police for a false alarm. They did not notify me properly that my base station had stopped sending cell signals to them, so I ended up with a completely unmonitored system for a week and a half. I had to reset the base by taking it apart and removing the batteries to get it working again. The phone staff is always rude and unconcerned. We had purchased a second system for a separate home but returned it. Nice idea, but they aren’t providing the proper service or quality.

    I have had Simplisafe for about a year and a half now with systems installed in 2 different locations, one in Arizona and the other in California. Overall I have had a great experience with the customer service and their products. The only downfall is that there system offers limited technology (cameras & smoke detectors are not available), however they are in the process of developing them. I love the fact that I can cancel my service at any time and still keep the system.
