Tyco Integrated Security has been in business for over since 2012 years and provides security solutions for large and small businesses alike. Tyco serves many Fortune 500 companies and covers many sectors, including finance and banking, transport and logistics, education, and the pharmaceutical industry, to name just a few. Tyco implements a wide array of useful features to help keep businesses secure; however, the company does not always provide the best customer service to its corporate clientele, and businesses looking for a corporate security company with good customer service might look into our top security providersmany of which offer corporate solutions as well as residential.

The Good

  • Annual Contract
  • Excellent Features

Tyco use equipment from several companies including American Dynamics for their video systems who provide everything from fixed CTV cameras to video intelligence solutions. Elpas handles the company’s location-based solutions by supplying a range of products such as Real Time Location Systems, Assistant Living Monitoring, and Wireless Nurse Calling. Other companies that Tyco rely on to provide services and products on their behalf include: Bentel, DSC, Sur-Guard, Visonic, CEM Systems, Kantech, and Software House.

As it’s such a large company, Tyco Integrated Security can offer comprehensive security packages to businesses that have multiple outlets, even when they are nationwide. Tyco has a quick response time for those who need it and their sales team makes every effort to get to know exactly what the individual custom’s security needs are. Tyco’s contract is only 12 months long, which is only one-third the length of contract most security companies provide.

Tyco offers a plethora of impressive corporate security features, including fire monitoring, burglar alarms, mobile security management, video monitoring, and more. Notable among these features is Tyco’s asset tracking capabilities. Tyco provides its customers with GPS-enabled tracking devices to detect the location of lost or stolen corporate vehicles and other important equipment or company property. Few companies offer this important feature.

The Bad

  • Poor Customer Service

It can be difficult to get certain call out services on the weekend and when you do, it cost a lot more. As an alternative, a Tyco staff member can talk you through shutting down your security system over the phone until a regular call out is available, but this leaves you vulnerable and potentially uninsured.

Tyco rates poorly among customers for a number of reasons. According to user reviews, Tyco’s customer service is slow and unresponsive. Some customers have reported poor equipment quality and confusing or even deceptive contract terms.

The Bottom Line

Tyco Integrated Security is a long standing, well established company that can provide a one-stop answer to any business’s security needs. Regardless of size, location or amount of products and services required, they know how to listen to the customer to provide the very best security solutions available; however, Tyco has rated poorly among its customers. Although the company is designed specifically for businesses, potential clients are encouraged to investigate our top home security companies, as many of them offer comparable corporate security packages and with better customer service.

Terrible service, when we need to have a trouble ticket on an alarm, it takes up to two weeks for them to come out to fix the problem, they don’t show up when scheduled and then just show up 5 minutes before the business closes.. When a door wouldn’t close due to a faulty key card access latch, they wanted to charge us $300 for same day service.

These guys are the worst. They never do what they say they are going to do, they show up unannounced but then when you try and schedule they don’t show up. Never seem to be able to finish a job completely, then you can’t find anyone that can actually help. If you are looking for a security company do your self a favor and look elsewhere. Nothing but frustration and aggravation trying to work with this company.

Had a failure in the system. A sensor battery needed to be replaced. The battery was $15. They charged me $229 for labor (to replace a battery!) and $99 for mileage…..Looking for a new vendor.

Fire alarm was not functioning for 2 weeks. They kept saying they will send someone over but when the day comes, nobody shows and we have to call customer service back. We get put on hold for quite a while and then they try and reschedule for a different date that ultimately gets canceled on too.

Service calls can take 48 hours (business days) or longer to respond. If the service need is especially heinous, a call to the alarm company may warrant a response similar to, “At least the rest of your zones are working.”

After multiple issues and service calls, we requested a stress test so we could tell what would break next, but the company refused to offer one. Fire suppression testing might put our system out of order for days or up to a week (fire is a zone that cannot be bypassed) after triggering an error that cannot be cleared. Imagine requiring a service call once every six months for a routine fire suppression test that prevents your business from being secured for days on end!

The dynamics of our system keep changing also, what used to be a clearable error is now one that requires special tools and ladders to repair. I’ve had this company cancel service calls because they forgot to bring a ladder! We have expected important service calls to happen on a specific day, we can call and confirm the appointment in the morning of the service call, and find by the middle of the day, after calling, that our service call has been cancelled without warning. This most frequently happens on the Monday after a weekend of service issues.

The local office by our business closed, so our technician frequently comes out from a city up to an hour away (most service center locations are an hour away in any given direction).

Asking to speak with a manager time after time receives the response from a phone service representative that they are what would be considered “a manager” with no willingness to move the call up the service chain for a response from an upper level representative.

Alarm events at our location are so bad and so frequent that the local police department refuses to visit our location any longer. That’s a frightening notion!

We should probably have abandoned ship with this company years ago; service was fair when they were Simplex Grinnell, then TycoADT, and now Tyco IS. Not the level of service we signed up for years ago.

Tyco is merely going through the motions. Reviews I have researched from Google to BBB to this website are shockingly similar to our experience. I’m not sure how a once trusted company like this can stay in business.

I am now 5 months into a 7 door security installation where I STILL do not have a fully operational system.

It took Tyco 3 1/2 months to complete work on 7 doors. We have now been waiting 2 more months for the correct scanner cards. Incorrect cards came, then waited 6 more weeks for new cards to arrive and they are once again incorrect cards. Customer Service does not respond to voice mails, nor does the district manager.

Simultaneously, I also have a fire/life safety system being installed by a Tyco crew who has no familiarity with our city’s building codes and failed 3 rough inspections before finally passing.

Do not walk away from Tyco Integrated Security – RUN!

we thought we were securing our building. first and foremost you have to really listen when they say that the bill is only sixty dollars a month because then you think that your going to get a bill every month for this amount. they bill you for three months and every time you get a bill it’s 180.00. then the service doesn’t work I can’t tell you how many times I accidently set off the
alarm and I haven’t seen a police officer yet. so now payments are late because we were not prepared to pay almost 200.00 a month. they are very misleading in their business. when you
try to get in touch with them to resolve issues it takes for ever to get through. but they blow up your phone about the money they want for this very poor service. it is a rip off. like I am trying to get them to come and get their equipment they are trying to charge us 2,000.00 and even though I am behind I am not that far behind they really suck

Service with Tyco has been god awful from day 1. They just didn’t show up on the scheduled install date. Twice. When they finally did show up and install (about 2 weeks after the start of the contract) they left trash, drywall dust, and chunks of debris littered around every camera and sensor install point. We of course got billed from start of contract date, not the date they actually got around to installing the system, still fighting with their billing department over that…
All of this could be forgiven if the damn system actually worked! After a week of 3-5 false alarms a day, the system has just completely stopped working. Well…it works, but more accurately it can’t be disarmed. It still sets a piercing alarm off every time someone moves, but not even Tyco can seem to figure out how to shut it off remotely. I finally smashed the panel with hammer just so we could get some work done. We had a tech scheduled to come by today at 8am, but it’s 1:27 and they haven’t been here yet, and when I called in to figure out where the ****** is, they hung up on me, so I’m not holding my breath.

Too bad I did not do research about this company. We have signed a contract with this company and we are just waiting for the contract to expired. Customer service is bad and every time we call, it’s always a 30 min waiting for a representative to get on the phone, go figure we just hang up, not to mention we call to ask why service charge is increasing every month, and we’d like to pay the bill but no one ever answers. Apparently our calls ARE NOT IMPORTANT to you. We will not renew our contract with them and their reputation is definitely on the line, because word of mouth travels fast, and for businesses, reputation is everything. Thank you for the worst first time customer experience. We would write the names on the people who have been dealing with us but since everyone needs a job/career to survive on this earth, we will remain nameless to those that provided us a terrible and horrific experience.

When using Tyco Security for your business, you can count on 3 things:
    -30 minute minimum hold time anytime you need to call them;
    -Revolving door of “account reps” that remain invisible and non-responsive to your calls &/or emails;
-Long lead time for service unless you want to pay them $600 for Emergency Service (even when you have a maintenance plan & send them monthly payments!)

My recommendation: Try another company first

When we moved our business to a different location, they refused to let us out of the contract. There already was a previously installed system and contract in the new building. Our new landlord insists we use it. I have spoken to many different people at Tyco and yet they still keep charging our account? Finally had to stop payment with the credit card company.

We had TYCO security at our church and were continually battling with them and the service they were supposed to provide to us. They did not return calls and when you did call no one was able to help, we just got transferred from person to person never getting any issues resolved. This was not a one time or one person issue it was ongoing and got so bad we broke our contract and paid a steep fine to end our service with them.

When we are reviewing a company for hire we rely greatly on reviews from others who have used their service. We felt it was very important to let others know what a bad experience we had with this company before considering them for hire. We did try everything possible to resolve all the issues we had with them before canceling our service, but in our dealings with them they were only interested in how they could be benefited.

Installation was fine, but we only had TYCO for 6-months in preparation for a start-up business, but lost business contract due to lawyers nitpicking every detail to death. We moved out and are now stuck with a Contract that TYCO will not let us out of, UNLESS we pay for the balance of 4-1/2 years of monitoring up-front.

When in operation, their monitoring was at best a pain in the ass with dozens of alerts- from weak batteries and communication errors, we had to unplug the system to get some peace.

I cannot recommend them mainly because of the Contract. TYCO insist on charging me for the duration of the 5-years, even though we moved out.

    Stay AWAY from TYCO
