Pros

Yarnell’s UL central station monitors all types of systems – even those they did not install.  All of their accounts are monitored in-house with no sub-contract monitoring, meaning they take full responsibility for each customer’s security needs.  Since they are Lancaster’s oldest locally owned central station and have an A+ BBB rating they are consistently #1 reader’s choice awards winner.

Cons

There is a lack of information and transparency. One issue for some could be the warranty policy, which is only the standard one-year parts and labor.  With this warranty, customers are left without insurance on their equipment for two to four years unless they buy extra coverage for about $100 a year.

About Yarnell Security Systems

Yarnell offers new customers a variety of packages with various equipment and costs to suit their specific needs.  They can install both landline-based and wireless systems that both use top-of-the-line Honeywell equipment. Both systems require a monthly monitoring fee. Both packages come with the following:

  • 1 Honeywell Lynx control panel
  • 3 door/window sensors
  • 1 motion sensor
  • 1 siren
  • 1 key fob
  • 1-year warranty—can be extended for $96/yr
  • Sign & stickers
  • 24/hr monitoring

    Please do yourself a favor and don’t deal with this company. Save yourself the headache and confusion. The customer service is awful and the technicians are clueless .

    When I was using my system (I haven’t for about 2 years), sensors failed, and I didn’t know I had to buy expensive new ones. It was not pointed out to me when I got the system that it was a five-year agreement. I was grieving as a new widow, and I just didn’t see that. When I tried to cancel service I was told that was not possible for the term of the agreement, and I will have to pay almost the full amount of the five years. This is very expensive for something I do not use. I will be giving the company negative reviews online, and will never renew when this contract expires. If I decide in the future I need a system, it will not be Yarnell. I have had businesses all my life, and would never force someone to pay for a service they no longer want.

    Dear Yarnell,we have been a long time customer for good many years.Due to illness I no longer work so bills are a little tight.We need to cut some cost and sorry but this is one of the cut backs.Thank you for keeping my family safe for so many years.So please cançell our services with you and we will pay what we owe you thank you so much.

    Having canceled our service when advised by Yarnell that would have to pay $300 to upgrade our equipment we canceled our contract. There is no penalty for doing this. However for several months now Mr. Yarnell personally has refused to answer any pf my emails or return any my phone calls when I have inquired about the amount of refund and when it would be paid. We have simply been cut off from all communications with Yarnell.

    Worst customer service of any company I deal with.
    I have had Yarnell security at my Business for many years now. I have always been concerned at how they nickle and dime you for every little issue that comes up but I have not wanted to take on the hassle of looking for a new security system. I will now. Recently they had to upgrade my system due to a cell issue. I only found this out when they called the day my service went out. Apparently they sent emails, EMAILS, no follow up phone call or letter notifying me of my need to upgrade my system. The emails they said they sent where never received. I scheduled then to have my system upgraded at a large cost and then they sent the statement via email once again. It went to spam of course as its authored from an employee and not the company. When I called to say I do not want to receive any further email from them especially email not addressed as having been sent by Yarnell themselves they were very rude. If fact its the worst customer service I have dealt with for a long time.
    Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for your security needs.

    I prepaid my fees for 2016 last December. I sold my building in April. They are refusing to refund my money. It seems to me that this is a family owned, nickle diming operation that is probably under capitalized. I mean if they can’t afford to refund prepayments of a couple of hundred dollars they must be a little shaky.

    As the church secretary, I have worked with Yarnell during the installation of a controlled-entry and programmable door at our church. It has been nothing but one hassle after another. Installing the software on my computer took several hours, which is quite a setback when one only works 20 hours a week. Then the software had trouble communicating with the system, and we had to have them come back out THREE times before it was fixed. Now I got a new computer, and once again, the software isn’t installing correctly. Phone calls are not returned in a timely manner, and the whole experience has been extremely frustrating.
