History

According to legend, Phoenix received its name from Cambridge-educated pioneer Darrell Duppa, who saw the ruins and prehistoric canals of the Hohokam and believed another civilization would rise from the ashes. Phoenix was initially settled as an agriculture community near the crossing of the Salt and Gila rivers in 1867. It was eventually established as a city in 1881, some 30+ years before Arizona became a U.S. state. Phoenix is at the northeastern end of the Sonoran Desert. Phoenix’s unique canal system allowed this desert climate to thrive as an agricultural hub for the export of various crops dubbed “The Five C’s” which includes Cotton, Cattle, Climate and Copper. The export was the main economy driver up until the end of World War II.

Population

Phoenix is the capital of Arizona and also the most populous city in Arizona. Phoenix is the United States’ sixth-largest city with a population of over 1.5 million people. The city is also the most populous state capital in the United States; the only capital with a population over 1 million residents. The Phoenix metropolitan area is the 12th largest by population in the United States with an estimated 4.3 million people as of 2010, and by land mass it is one of the largest cities in the United States.

Crime Rates

For every 100,000 Phoenix residents, 572 will experience violent crime, 7.5 will be murdered, 66 raped, 193 robbed, 306 assaulted, 3,724 will be victims of property crime, 936 will be burglarized and 2,318 will be victims of larceny/theft. Phoenix’s crime index, last year, reached 400 compared to the National average crime index of 319.1. In addition, Phoenix had almost 18,700 burglaries last year and over 38,000 thefts.

Frontpoint’s mission is to deliver an A+ customer experience and a safer, smarter, simpler home security solution. The company provides three monitoring packages to choose from starting at $34.99 per month. Higher priced options supply a variety of add-ons including home automation controls and video surveillance. Contract lengths start at 12 months, which is shorter than other companies that ask for a minimum of 36 months. Frontpoint minimizes consumer remorse with a 30-day money-back guarantee, which seems to have yielded a loyal customer base and highly rated services. The main drawback for Frontpoint is the upfront equipment fees and shorter, 3-year warranty.

Headquartered in Warrendale, Pennsylvania, Guardian Protection is the world’s largest privately-held home security company. The security company offers four different packages to fit a variety of homes and budgets. Its equipment and advanced protection technology easily compete with some of the other top companies in the industry. Home automation comes standard on all but the most basic service, allowing consumers to control their security system remotely. Security equipment, however, is more expensive than other industry leaders and the company has been known to have poor online transparency. Guardian Protection offers special pricing for besthomesecuritycompanys.com visitors.

With so many home security companies out there, and a lack of sites willing to bring you the HONEST breakdowns of each company, what source can you turn to for the real information you can trust?

We are dedicated to bringing the truth out, and rank home security companies as they should be. Through our investigation, and experience with each company, we rank each company, and bring you our honest, unbiased opinion. We also include authentic user reviews by past customers of each company that are moderated and verified.

Like many sites, we are compensated through affiliate relationships with each company we review, however all of our rankings are based on our 9-Point Ranking Criteria.

All reviews are subject to moderation and approval. Any reviews that may resemble false information, or competitors of another company will need to be verified by our staff before being approved and published. We reserve the right to approve or deny any reviews left on this site.
