American Alarm was founded in 1971 by three engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). American Alarm is New England’s largest independent security system and monitoring provider.
Security System Overview
American Alarm offers customers the option of a cellular or landline system and uses both Honeywell and DMP equipment. If you choose the wireless cellular system it will cost about $800 upfront for the equipment and installation and $35/month a year for monitoring. The landline system requires about the same upfront costs but is five dollars cheaper a month. Every new American Alarm home security system installed and monitored receives a lifetime warranty with an annual wellness inspection to keep the system in perfect condition. American Alarm provides the following components in their home security systems:
- Perimeter sensors on doors and windows
- Interior motion sensors
- Glass break sensors
- Keyless entry technology
American Alarm operates its own 24-hour home security monitoring center. The center is UL listed and CSAA certified. Customers are placed in a 12-month contract with renewal starting month-to-month. Customers can cancel during the month-to-month period with a written notice 30 days prior to termination date.
Since 1971, American Alarm customers across New England have been protected by reliable, responsive home security systems. These security systems are backed by the 24-hour security command center in Arlington, Massachusetts that are ready to dispatch policy support around the clock. With an A+ BBB rating and 40 years of experience American Alarm has been ensuring the safety of their customers from fire, burglary, carbon monoxide and more.
For customers that don’t have around $1000 ready for a new system it might be difficult to get an account with America Alarms. Since they do not offer promotional packages that include “free” or discounted systems customers need to be ready to purchase the system in full. This could be a potential barrier for many who want home security but don’t have the capital.
