During a new business presentation to one of the nation's largest alarm companies, he decided a need and opportunity existed for a new kind of alarm/security company that combined the highest quality products with the best customer service possible.
Founded in 1980, American Security Systems has become one of New York's largest independent security providers in the area. Currently, it is the 65th largest alarm company in the nation, with over 8,000 customers. They have a locally owned and operated UL certified and NYCFD approved central monitoring station. ASS also has many notable commercial and residential clients, such as AOL Time Warner, the office of the New York State Attorney General's Office, politicians, UN dignitaries, and international film stars.
One of the biggest issues with purchasing a new ASS system is that they require new customers to pay full price for the all the equipment upfront and then typically lock them into a multi-year contract. Most companies in the industry typically provide some flexibility on the contract if the customer buys the system outright ASS does not.
If you have the funds, ASS can build a top-of-the-line system that will match the best in the industry. However, if you are looking for a deal on the upfront costs then ASS is not for you. Customers who choose to go with American Security Systems, Inc. (ASS) are required to purchase all of the equipment up front. Typically, they install basic Honeywell wireless systems that include one panel, one keypad, a siren, one door sensor, and one motion sensor. Once the system is installed and activated the monitoring fees are about $30/month. If new customers want more points of protection on other doors and windows than the initial costs could be much higher.

We invested over $3500.00 in what we thought was a top quality safe only to find out that the locking mechanism is crap. The electronic keypad was checked and works on other safes at Anderson Lock and Safe company, where we purchased our safe. We were told that our safe needs to be drilled behind the key pad to unlock it so they can replace the locking mechanism from the inside of the door. Unfortunately, American Security Systems will not stand behind their product or assist in the $450.00 opening/mechanism replacement charge by Anderson Lock and Safe company since it's past the warranty period.

ASS takes advantage of elderly, and handicapped, it is a scam selling security by robbing people! Was told could terminate contract if not happy within three days, emailed them repeatedly within allotted time to cancel, they responded with a bill! And they don't have a TDD number!

There is something seriously mysterious about this company and telemarketing calls. They will NOT honor any requests. If you ask to be removed from the calling list, you are only called more frequently. The strange part of all his harassment is that I am NOT a potential customer for I am under contract with a more reputable service.
