ASG offers a relatively low monthly monitoring rate. Their price is close to the industry average and makes ASG a much less expensive option when comparing it to other home security companies. And in addition to a traditional hardwired system that monitors via your phone line, ASG also provides a wireless broadband option. Through ASG customers can monitor fire alarms and smoke detectors, security cameras, motion detectors, and door sensors. ASG also provides numerous home automation features to help you monitor and control your home remotely. Customers can control door locks, thermostats, lighting, and even small appliances all through the ASG Evolve mobile app.

ASG also offers a $1,000 service guarantee. In the event that your system malfunctions or an undetected theft takes place in one of your home’s monitored areas, ASG will not only pay up to $1,000 towards your home insurance deductible but will also credit your account for any charges incurred as a result of the alarm or service visit. Few home security companies offer this feature.

ASG Security’s website does not provide information such as pricing and equipment specs/details. We called the company’s headquarters and were directed to call a local branch. The local branch then prompted us to give our telephone number to be contacted by a sales rep. In all, it took us four calls to discover information about pricing, installation fees, and equipment details. When we finally found this information, not all of it was positive. ASG charges high upfront costs before monitoring services are rendered. Top-rated home security companies strive to limit or eliminate these costs.

While ASG does provide some helpful troubleshooting tips on its website, it’s lacking in terms of the number of online product manuals found on its site. Though the company lists several of the products it offers, it can only provide operating manuals on a portion of them. Customers have also cited several issues regarding ASG’s billing practices (e.g., charging for services not rendered, changing the monthly monitoring fees in-term, and billing after cancellation).

ASG provides solid home security and home automation features for a decent monthly price.     They billed us for 18 months for monitoring when they were not monitoring, which we discovered at the time of a break in when we could not reach ASG and they did not respond to the alarm.     I have had nothing but problems with this company. The initial instillation occurred one month 2 weeks ago, my system is still not been fixed by a tech, from the guy that screwed it up the first time. Fire alarm is defunct & down, carbon dioxide system is down, back porch monitoring is down, batteries not replaced in my key fabs, either. Today, the tech was supposed to arrive at 10:00am, we're looking at 1:15, called the main guy, and they can't locate the tech. They took over for Monotronics, I wished I hadn't signed up with them.Read More

    its becoming a trend in today corporate practices,when consumer become very aware of unfair practices and over billing also poor customer services of specially security monitoring companies. they go ahead merge with another company.and look rosy for a while but most problems start all over again.

    in this case ASG with the poorest rating in the industry goes ahead and merge with
    Protraction I security Monitoring which has 640 customer complaints.
    this new company trying to bully us to pay them $270.00 cancellation fee.we were month to month.and had given more 30 day day notice we do not need their services.

    Been with the company two years. I have no complaints about the equipment or their service as concerning when the alarm does go off. My problem is with the billing. Upon signing up I was told my contract was for two years with a locked in price. after installation I read my contract which said three years and nothing about a locked price. So I contacted my sales representative and explained what I read and he assured me that what he told me was correct (though the contract didn’t state it) so I asked him to send me in writing what we had agreed on and he did. after a year (I had automated bank draft) my monthly payment went up almost $5 with no notice so I called ASG and was told a notice was sent out months ago, I got no such notice. I sent them a copy of my salesperson letter. Never heard from them but they did drop the price but gave me a charge of an extra $2 because I cancel the automatic draft. A couple days ago I went to pay my bill online and notice that my price had gone up again this time over $8. So now I’m having to go right back through writing letters. I have eleven more months on my contract and I doubt I will stay with them. Clearly They do not honor what their representative tell their customers. And I’m aware that after my third year they will automate lock me into another two year contract and then go up on my service twice in those two years. I understand things going up but without any special features or upgrade and more importantly no warning. I don’t own a money tree, I want to be inform of changes. Can’t say I would recommend them, services isn’t bad but the bottom line is money.

    Increased rate with no notice. Sales rep lied regarding this amongst other things in the sales pitch. When calling to put in my notice to cancel told had to be 30-day notice, not 12 months. I’ll put it in writing and mail it in see what happens. I’ll call every month from now until end of contract. I do not recommend this company.

    I will never use this company again I had all kind of problems and they kept billing me after I told them I was going to pay them in full after the job was done and I did pay them in full I call them about a week and a half ago because I could not pull my cameras up on my cellphone or ipad and Paul told me that he was going to call or get someone out here I have not heard from them yet this is the same stuff that happen when we had them to put up the cameras it took over a month to get the job done at first they put up what they wanted to put up after my husband told them that he did not want no wireless cameras they did take them down almost a month later after they could not get them to work right Believe me no no no I would not recommend them to no one because I feel that they are not dependable at all If you are a good company I let people no and if you don’t do what you suppose to I tell the truth because I will never miss lead people I believe in doing things the right way

    My system inexplicably began experiencing “system communication” errors. My attempts to get someone on customer service would usually end up with telephone death holds. I submitted a request for service on the internet and received no response. I left a voicemail with the person who sold us the system and got no response. I finally managed to get through customer service and scheduled a service call. The tech calls on the way out and tells us we have to pay for the charge (we pay a monthly maintenance fee). After a bit of discussion with him, he relents and acknowledges no charge. He shows up and then tells us that ASG had upgraded their software so our panels are no longer compatible. Then says he has no hardware with which to replace the panels and needs to come back. These people appear to be profoundly inept and I have zero confidence they can respond to an emergency given that they can’t maintain their own internal product compatibility. We will be using a new company in short order, even if it means we have to double pay.

    Talk about the worst customer service possible. I’ve been with the former company Asg took over and never had problems till this company came to play. Being a loyal customer for 9 1/2 yrs and NEVER being charged for labor because my pkg included this service now after so many yrs I never had labor and parts included which is crap. Every time we have a thunderstorm my alarm goes off and opens my garage door but it’s” not their system “; yeah. Services tech came out to fix my system after one storm and now key remote don’t work which were working fine before. They increase your bill with no notifications and claimed they mailed them out. Stay away from Asg in McAllen,Tx!!

    ASG just tried to pass on another price increase. This is the second time they have tried this. The first time they told me my contract was up. No it wasn’t. This time they told me it was a billing error that I didn’t catch for 3 months. Both times they have fixed it, but I shouldn’t have to watch them. Just think of all the people they changed rates on without notifying them and who didn’t call in and have it fixed. Simply put, I think they are dishonest and are deceptive in their billing practices.

    After a phone call and letter to stop monitoring service on a house that was being sold, I found out they had continued to bill me for 3 months from my Visa account. When I called them about returning my money and to stop the billing they said they would not because they had not received the letter…..but beyond that they said that I had not EVER called them and because they did not have the record of the phone call in their computer then it did not happen! They could not have been monitoring the home because it required my phone line and the phone had been disconnected! They have lied and stolen money for services they have not provided while they did it. My bank is assisting with the retrieval of my stolen funds.

    Asg in fort Lauderdale is the worst alarm company i have delt with before national alarms got sold customer service was great now asg i cancelled. 14 of my accounts i do not want my alarm being covered by the slobs that work at asg dan robinson is a asshole since national alarm was there and the new gm bobby is a wack job do not trust to sign up with thia company not worth it they are so disorganized and no proffesional skills bobby does not no how to run the buisness.     paid for service for 5 years. Alarm went off at 2:00am while at hospital with my husband who had surgery so I had to rush home to a false alarm. Sh** happens. In 2013 i paid annual fee and my home was hit by a car which made it impossible to arm the alarm so i paid for 12 months of service when I eas unable to use alarm. When renewal came due 12 months later i told them i no longer wanted the service and was not renewing. They said I had to put it in writing which was ridiculous but I did it. Only to get continues bills followed by being place in a collection agency for an unpaid debt. This us the only negative on my credit and i’m pissed. I called Experian to have them remove it. I would like to sue these idiots. If anyone kmiws of s lawsiut I can join to teach these crooks a lesson, let me know. Oh yea, I forgot to menfion that my father died right before my home was hit by a car, I was handing the estate and succession while being treated for depression and uncontrollable crying and when I explained this to ASG and told them by not paying means I no longer want their service, they said I had to put it in writing.     I was a customer for over 10 years when I found my service had not worked for 6 months. I called and cancelled my account and they billed me an extra months fee even though they advised I had been without service for 6 months. Now, over a YEAR AFTER CANCELLATION I have received a OVERDUE ACCOUNT notice telling me I am $102.58 overdue. They are a bunch of crooks. Stay away from this company.

    I love the local office people in this company. The national staff needs work. Have had one price increase that I was not notified of but got it straightened out with one phone call to local office. Salesperson, installation staff and all persons at the local office have be upfront, honest, and extremely helpful.

    Awfull service we have had tech problems with house DVR they said they were going to quote us we waited over a month for quote and received nothing we bought our own when we called to have it installed they didn’t have the resources to connect our system back to the web and we still have not heard back from them.     I have struggled with getting the system to operate properly. Since Saturday (10.24.14) I have had to endure over 350 tamper alerts for one of the zones. I have spent over 30 minutes on hold waiting for a live person as the alerts sound. I was given the tech’s cell, which he did not answer. Their ability to respond to a problem is a zero.

    I have had ASG for over 3 years now and while I think they are the worse ever, I chose to keep them for the pricing. However I am so over this horrible company. They change prices without notice and when you call to inquire about it, you get told a notice was mailed out months ago. When you question why you haven’t received it the reps just say ” well it was mailed” UMM NO IT WAS NOT!!! This has now happened 3 times. Called in about a problem with my motion sensor and was told it would cost me well over $150 just to have someone come look at it, well no thank you.. It was just a battery!! This company is such a fraud. No other way to put it. I refuse to get charged the $250 to terminate the 3yr (which I wasn’t informed of) contract. Do not use this company!!

    I was a customer of a company ASG bought. Customer service was good at the former company, but once the ASG purchase was completed, things started going down hill. There was a service interruption which I had to call in and the “customer service” person told me I had to schedule a service event, which I knew was wrong from prior experience. I then called the local folks and was given a quick no cost solution. After a few more months, I decided to terminate my relationship with ASG. No sooner I canceled the monitoring, ASG charged my account for the quarterly monitoring and when I called for a refund, I was told I would receive a refund for months 2 and 3, but they did not issue prorated refunds. My comment was, “so you are charging me for a service I did not receive.” The response was, “Yes, that’s right.” Do NOT do business with these people – they will stick it to you. Customer service stinks – especially Miss D Robinson – not a nice person at all…

    The worst Security Co. .My house was broken in over and over and still have a Computer Hacker and accessed my account on line .They changed my postcodes and let her change my contact numbers . Told Me it would cost them to much money to figure out how she was doing it . Is. Trying to sue Us for the $140.00 balance on the account . Told them when they pay me $10 grand she stole .I would pay them . ANY THING CELL PHONE BASED CAN BE HACKED…

    Bad company policies – just received 15% increase without prior notice. was told this was a “cross the board” increase for ALL customers and that a notice went out to all customers in January. I NEVER received a notice. Representative said, “well, we never received anything back and we mailed one”. Gee that sounds like great company policy (sarcasm here). I am looking for another company – and searching for my contract to see what I actually signed last year ughhh. very very disappointed with this company

    I cancelled service with ASG in order to go with a less expensive alternative. We were told via phone that we would owe $70 for early cancellation. I called to ask that the balance of our August payment (approx. 19 days) be credited to the cancellation charge. I was told that it was ASG policy not to refund any part of a month. I was then told that the cancellation charge could be lowered to $40 and I asked that we be billed for that. I was told that we would be billed. When we got the bill it was for $139.00. I called to ask for an explanation and was told that because we did not pay it online at the time of the last call we missed the opportunity for the $40 cancellation charge. I explained that we were told we would be billed for the $40 and was told that was not true. I was also asked why we didn’t accept their offer of lowering our monthly charge. They never made the offer. I finally settled by paying the $40 charge. This company seems to have a hard time keeping their stories straight; $70, $40, $139. If looking at ASG for services my advice would be to run, not walk, away as fast as possible.

    We signed up for ASG in January 2013. We signed a contract for 3 years with a “rate lock” at $29.95. Mid-way through our contract, we got hit with a “company-wide increase” without any notice. What’s the point of a rate lock? When I called to question this, I was told that a letter went out in March notifying us of the rate increase. I never got a letter. Perhaps you should notify your loyal customers via phone, email, and letter to be sure they know you are increasing their monthly cost. The customer service gal Cindy also told me that I can either cancel my contract for $539 or she would give me another “rate lock” at the increased price and extend my contract an extra year 23 months. So when will this next “rate lock” get hit with a “company-wide increase?” I’m really disappointed with ASG so far.

    We have been with ASG a few years and have had a few problems with the system; they did send a tech and the system was up and running in a short time.
    Today we had another issue. A lengthy message has been continually displayed for a couple hours. We called the main number and the person on the other end walked me through some steps to see if I could get the system back running; no success. I called back and was informed; if they send a repair tech; I would have to pay a service charge at $83 for the first 30 minutes.. I thought it was a joke but the girl; a local rep at the Wilmington, NC office tells me that’s the way it is. One arrogant woman. The company can now cancel my account and I will spread the word regard their poor; actually lousy; service.

    customer service is very lacking–when we had a power outage our trouble light came on. when power was restored, our trouble light continued on the keypad. I called ASG and was transferred 4 different times to try to get the problem corrected–after the 4th transfer, and the 4th time I explained my problem, the phone line went dead. Its time to get a new alarm company that has better customer service.

    i have there 2GIG system with 2 way voice and weather alerts. I also have remote access from my smart phone. I have been extremely happy with there sales ,service and prices they are much cheaper than other especially to add on and they don’t extend your agreement !
