    It took a full week to get a response from Bay Alarm regarding a communication issue with my system. So for a full week, our alarm was not monitored and Bay Alarm failed to solve the issue. In regards to the lack of communication the service manger said “stuff happens”. You wouldn’t expect an alarm company to have a complete lack of sense of urgency, but judging by the service manager’s response, it seems systematic to the company.

    Horrible company and customer service. Called to cancel service, received a cancellation confirmation letter that stated to return the equipment by a certain date. I told the rep on the phone I wouldn’t be able to return the equipment by that date and was told it wouldn’t be a problem. I returned the equipment 10 days after the date and they billed me for another whole year. Called to find out about a refund, even a pro-rated refund (would have gladly paid the 10 days) and was told they don’t give refunds. Rep refused to engage a manager saying she was the highest person in the company. Beware and stay away from Bay Alarm!

    Horrible company to work with, salesman told me I could cancel any time after two years. When I decided to move after two years they said that I could not cancel and was responsible for the remaining 3 years.

    Very disappointing. I have been with this company when it was SST, so Bay Alarm took over. I recently had the fire system alarm go off and after a call to check that the house wasn’t on fire, they sent out a technician that took 5 hours waiting, and he came at the very end of the time period (so 6 hours of my time). The technician didn’t find the trouble, but when a zone showed up on the security screen as not cooperating, instead of fixing it, he just bypassed it and added it to another zone. About a month later the fire system again set off. No call to check the problem for over 24 hours!! Seriously, not happy. If it had been an actual fire, my house would have burned! No security! 24 hours later they called and try to correct me on the trouble time. I was here for it, so don’t tell me when it happened. They again give me a service time, which after waiting another 4 hours, we are told that a truck broke down… then given another 5 hour window to wait the next day!!! If they had fixed the problem the first time, none of this would have been a problem. Also, the tech that they sent said that the other tech knows the system inside and out, but he was on jury duty… so we wait, again! I’m waiting to see if they can fix it after 14 hours of my time!!! I am looking into another security service.

    When my family moved into a bigger home 3 years ago, we knew we wanted an alarm system. After much research, both online and offline, we went with Bay Alarm based on their local history, expertise and reliability. While they weren’t the least expensive option, many of my neighbors who are Bay Alarm customers shared stories of previous alarm vendors who had horrible monitoring, customer service and reliability.

    One neighbor shared a DIY story that was every homeowners nightmare, complete with a system that was difficult to install, operate and had the worst monitoring imaginable. After his home was broken into while the alarm was set and his monitoring was unaware and unresponsive, he immediately jumped ship to Bay Alarm.

    In the end, all it takes is one bad (or good) experience to realize that going with an established, well run company that has your best interest in mind is worth more than finding the cheapest subscription fee.
