Pros

EPS security has over 30 years experience in installing security systems in the greater Michigan area. The company has over 18,000 customers who are a testament to its good quality. The company has grown over the years and is currently the 33rd ranked security company in the US. Client reviews on the internet give the company high ratings in terms of the quality of security systems and customer service. In addition, the company's website is well organized and it contains the type of information that any homeowner would need on security options.

The alarm company has been certified by a number of professional associations which include: Factory Mutual (FM), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). They offer 24 hours monitoring through their central station.

Cons

EPS security has concentrated a lot on business security and most of the sophisticated security products that they offer are best suited for business owners. Their website does not give price details per product and the information on the specific details of the different systems is very scanty.

Our Recommendation

A secure home is the dream of every homeowner. A good security company should offer high-quality security systems coupled with 24/7 monitoring and fast response times. The price charged should also not be too prohibitive when weighed against the benefits that the system offers. Finally, the company should be licensed by the right authorities.

About EPS Security

EPS security offers a variety of residential home security systems ranging from anti-burglary, fire, video surveillance, medical alert, and monitoring systems to integrated systems. Homeowners can choose to install any one of these systems or a combination of two or more. The standard monthly fee for security monitoring services starts at $35. All systems can be customized based on need with various window sensors, door sensors, door locks, and other smart home security equipment.

The company's home security systems are comprised of security cameras and sensors set up indoors, windows and other sensitive areas in your home. These detectors are linked to Total Connect 2.0, a notification mobile app for smartphones, iPads, and laptops, that gives you real-time information on the state of your home. This application even streams live video feeds of security sensitive areas such as nurseries and play areas. Alarm systems can be controlled remotely or through the in-home control panel. For fire security, the company uses Notifier, the leading manufacturer of fire alarms in the nation, with over 50 years experience in the industry. Life Safety Alarm Systems also include carbon monoxide detectors, water leak detection, medical alert, and more.

My wife and I have been wanting a security system as our family continues to grow. We invested in an EPS home security system when one of our children were followed home by a stranger from their school bus and a day-time home break-in happened in our area. Our home is now monitored 24/7 by a team of people. Our system allows us to use our smartphones to view areas in and around our house when we are home or away. Using our Total Connect App is awesome for when family and deliveries get to our house when we are busy or away. EPS team members have been very helpful through the whole process. We've had an EPS home security system since the beginning of 2018. We have family and co-workers who love their EPS home systems. I recommend EPS home security to anyone with a home, especially if you have children or pets.

They did not deliver what was talked about in the sales call.

We needed EPS to make a service call due in part to some break ins in our area. I called this morning to discuss my issues and had an immediate response. The technician, Michael was here within 3 hours of my call. He was so knowledgeable and answered all my questions. What an asset Michael is to EPS. He has outstanding customer service skills, but more importantly knows this security system inside and out.

A real person answers the phone immediately. If we accidently set off the system, they immediately call. I am extremely satisfied with their system and their service!

Beware and read all fine print and don't let the sales rep slide over the 3 year contract term. We have sold our house and have to pay another 2.5 years on the contract.

I have been using EPS at my home for more then fifteen years. We have up-dated it a couple years ago and added cellular/internet communication, instead of phone lines. I have found them to be very quick to respond when we accidentally set it off, so far, thankfully we have never had a break in. We did have a water sensor go off when our sump pump broke during a storm, glad we had added that feature or it would have been a big mess down there.

One of the worst companies I have ever worked with. Their systems do not work properly, Their techs are poorly trained and rude. The call center does not communicate with the operations and tech people. The system is always in fault mode and all they want to do is blame it on the installer who worked for them. The system is basically the most useless alarm system I have ever had If you can find an alternative it will save you a ton of grief.

Engineered Protection Systems has exceptional customer service 24/7. They are pleasant and will assist if there are any questions or concerns about the system operation. They detected a false sensor signal from my home and contacted me and had a replacement scheduled and installed within 24 hours.
