Their mission is to deliver an A+ customer experience and a Safer, Smarter, Simpler home security solution. They do so with a wide range of wireless sensors including window sensors, door sensors, motion sensors, carbon monoxide detectors, and glass break sensors to detect signs of trouble. The Good

Frontpoint’s equipment and devices are easy-to-install. There are no installation fees, and Frontpoint understands the value of diligent customer service. Cost

Frontpoint’s equipment and monitoring cost is competitive with other leading security companies. Frontpoint home security offers monitoring services in three packages from which customers may choose: protection monitoring, interactive monitoring, and ultimate monitoring. These Frontpoint systems have a monthly fee for professional monitoring, but that price is not disclosed on the website as prices may vary depending on each individual home.  We were, however able to get some numbers for standard costs of alarm monitoring.  The monthly price ranges from $34.99-49.99. Frontpoint security systems are all 100% cellular monitoring services, with the higher priced option offering additional add-ons like home automation for smart home devices and video surveillance monitoring. The mobile app is included in the Interactive and Ultimate plan only and you need a smartphone mobile device to have access.

Contracts are available for 12 and 36 months. However, there is a $99 minimum equipment purchase. Pre-made, comprehensive security packages range from $199.95 – $349.95. Customers own all the Frontpoint equipment they’ve purchased and have a  30-day, risk-free trial. If you are unhappy with your alarm systems you may get your money back.

Frontpoint uses a simpler approach to monitoring options by offering a 100% cellular connection. Unlike other security companies, their wireless home security system is not dependent on a phone line, internet connection, or any other system within a home. Their system won’t go down if the landline or internet fails and all communication is built into the system itself.

Mobile App and Upgraded Technology

Frontpoint also makes a diligent effort to constantly improve their technology. The Frontpoint app gives you remote access and lets you control your system from anywhere using your mobile phone or tablet. Home Automation Options

Frontpoint has a multitude of home automation options in its “Professional Package”. For $49.99/month customers receive the Frontpoint home automation and video monitoring on top of the basic security package. With this plan, you’ll be notified immediately of any alarm activity within the home—whether it’s a matter of security or an environmental threat.  You’ll also be reminded if you leave without arming your system, using the Frontpoint location-based Geo-Services.

An excellent offer that comes with this program is the light control feature. You can customize an on/off schedule or set lights to trigger automatically in reaction to a sensor alarm. There is also environmental protection to protect you against Carbon Monoxide (CO), extreme temperatures, or flooding. With the Interactive plan, you additionally get sensors and thermostats to guard against these calamities.

This Frontpoint package includes a 30-day money-back guarantee trial period, free text and email notifications, and the option to do self-installation.

However, Frontpoint does not sell the door locks,  or a thermostat, etc. The reason for this is that the Frontpoint home automation system is a self-setup, so it can be difficult for someone to install their own locks and thermostats so they operate correctly.

Another potential issue for many is that Frontpoint’s automation system is a self-setup system. While the system is generally simple to set up, there are some who may struggle with connecting it to their smart home devices.

Upfront Costs

While equipment fees start at $99, they may reach as high as $449 if you chose to upgrade packages. For example, a base package includes 3 door and window sensors.  If you were to customize their base package to include 10 extra door and window sensors, you would pay close to $248.90 out of pocket.

FrontPoint only offers a 3-year warranty on their equipment.  Many other competitors offer lifetime equipment warranties.

    Great system, easy install, and the customer service is outstanding. I have never worked with a company that offers the same level of customer service that this company does. I highly recommend them, my family and I feel very safe with their system, and knowing someone is always there to answer your call is very re-assuring.

    So easy a caveman could do it! Seriously. When our house was burglarized, I started shopping for a security system. FPS kept coming up as a the winner, not only for ease of use, but cost and quality. My entire system cost only $164 – shipped. I did have to wait a bit to get it – which is the only reason why I rated a 9 instead of 10. Their customer service IS the best!

    Simple to setup and works great. The panel integrated with Z-Wave so not only do I have a secure home but now it is automated as well. Front door opens after dark… foyer light comes on. Perfect. Customer service is top notch. They worked with me to test devices that aren’t compatible with their hardware and were very fair in their charges. After being bugged by the same salesman multiple times for other alarm systems, they stopped showing up since I have my frontpoint sign in the yard. It protects from more than just thieves! :)

    We love this system! Easy to install and great customer service! We have only had 1 false alarm (our fault), and that experience was wonderful. Called right away and stayed on the phone until I got home to check it out. Love the interactive app for my phone. Can arm/disarm, am notified when a door or garage door opens/shuts, notified of power outage and the number of current outages in our area, and am reminded to arm the system if I leave and forget. We have no complaints!

    In the event you need to cancel their 3 year contract they will charge you a huge fee. Buyer beware!

    I ordered Frontpoint security last October. The sales agent was very helpful, and assured me that my system would arrive in 10 business days. 3 weeks later, no system. This is where things got bad. I was fine waiting another week or two for my system, but no one communicated with me. When I called customer service, they told me that my system had been shipped, but the tracking ID didn’t work. I wish I could have gong with fronpoint as they’re listed as one of the best companies, but after this whole shipping debacle I decided to go with a competitor our of sheer necessity.
