Frontpoint’s equipment and devices are easy-to-install. There are no installation fees, and Frontpoint understands the value of diligent customer service. Frontpoint’s Pricing

Frontpoint’s equipment and monitoring cost is competitive with other leading security companies. Frontpoint home security offers monitoring services in three packages from which customers may choose: protection monitoring, interactive monitoring, and ultimate monitoring. These Frontpoint systems have a monthly fee for professional monitoring, but that price is not disclosed on the website as prices may vary depending on each individual home.  We were, however able to get some numbers for standard costs of alarm monitoring.  The monthly price ranges from $34.99-49.99. Frontpoint security systems are all 100% cellular monitoring services, with the higher priced option offering additional add-ons like home automation for smart home devices and video surveillance monitoring. The mobile app is included in the Interactive and Ultimate plan only and you need a smartphone mobile device to have access.

Contracts are available for 12 and 36 months. However, there is a $99 minimum equipment purchase. Pre-made, comprehensive security packages range from $199.95 – $349.95. Customers own all the Frontpoint equipment they’ve purchased and have a  30-day, risk-free trial. If you are unhappy with your alarm systems you may get your money back.

Frontpoint uses a simpler approach to monitoring options by offering a 100% cellular connection. Unlike other security companies, their wireless home security system is not dependent on a phone line, internet connection, or any other system within a home. Home Automation Options

Frontpoint has a multitude of home automation options in its “Professional Package”. For $49.99/month customers receive the Frontpoint home automation and video monitoring on top of the basic security package. There is also environmental protection to protect you against Carbon Monoxide (CO), extreme temperatures, or flooding. However, Frontpoint does not sell the door locks,  or a thermostat, etc. The reason for this is that the Frontpoint home automation system is a self-setup, so it can be difficult for someone to install their own locks and thermostats so they operate correctly.

Another potential issue for many is that Frontpoint’s automation system is a self-setup system. While the system is generally simple to set up, there are some who may struggle with connecting it to their smart home devices.

Upfront Costs

While equipment fees start at $99, they may reach as high as $449 if you chose to upgrade packages. For example, a base package includes 3 door and window sensors.  If you were to customize their base package to include 10 extra door and window sensors, you would pay close to $248.90 out of pocket.

Frontpoint Security Equipment Warranty

FrontPoint only offers a 3-year warranty on their equipment.  Many other competitors offer lifetime equipment warranties.

    They are very professional and spend time teaching you. I looked at other alarm companies and I didn’t particularly like them by comparison. I feel like their stuff is higher quality and easier, my child can use it if I need them to.

    They are receptive, helpful, knowledgeable, and smart people. Their system is a little inconsistent, such as when the sensors say it’s open when it is closed and perfectly mounted. That is frustrating for me as a customer.

    I’ve been a customer of Frontpoint for over a year now. I’m happy with their customer service, not worried about costs, their response times are good, and the equipment is decent.

    Where I’m disappointed is innovation. I went with Frontpoint because they promised advanced features like mobile phone integration and geo location services. I want a security system that reliably arms itself when I’m away, and disarms itself when I arrive. I want it to know to set “stay” mode alarm when I go to bed, and to then not set off the alarm when I walk out the front door in the morning. I understand these are hard challenges to do consistently, but I was looking for someone that at least tries.

    Frontpoint does none of this. It’s an old-school, single panel, manual code entry arm/disarm system that happens to have a smart phone app. Its “geo services” consist solely of sending you a reminder notice to set the alarm yourself when you leave the neighborhood, and its app is pretty much just a way to manually arm and disarm from your phone.

    I don’t want to manually input codes to security panels 4-5 times a day, and either leave my house entirely unprotected or set off my own alarm if I forget even once. That’s the reason I have never had a security system in the past, and their marketing sold me on the promise that Frontpoint had solved all of that. It doesn’t. Now I’m $1000+ in equipment sunk and in a 1+ year contract that I can’t break.

    Worse company ever!!!
    Worse company ever!!!! Stay away, currently filing complaint through MD State Attorney office on this company. Read their contract before you sign anything, they literally have things in there that are borderline illegal. For a company responsible for protecting your family and home, they take no responsibility should anything happen and they do not stand behind the warranty they sell you. For instance, NONE of my door sensors work, I am literally paying for motion sensors and after spending 4 plus hours over a five days on the phone with their customer service nothing has been done. I even emailed their founder and CEO and only silence. This speaks volumes to the kind of company they are. This is the reason I have taken it to the State Attorney office. Please go somewhere else, they do not deserve your business. If I could I would give them a negative star.

    My experience with setting up the system was very good, relatively easy. So far, the customer service people have been very nice and helpful, which for me is very important.Unclear whether you have to go to website to pay each month or whether they can charge you automatically. Also hard to assess some of these questions unless you see them perform during (God forbid) a break in.

    Avoid this company. $99 starter fee, try closer to $600. Wouldn’t allow me to return unused sensors as was originally advised. System is not audible from second floor landing. The system is so garbage it doesn’t even startle my dog with dementia. I have been fighting with them for 5 months, they refuse to do anything and are demanding full payment of the contract. They refuse to have any contact via email either. STAY AWAY!! I have ATS system now and you definitely get what you pay for!

    Shopped around for a while and FrontPoint had the best service by far. Easily scored a 10 by my count. Even let me call back after speaking with my wife. We settled on their middle rate plan…liked the features. Overall, we considered them the best value.

    I spent alot of time looking into security systems prior to deciding on Frontpoint. I am almost at the end of my first year with the system.

    Pros
    Customer service reps are ALWAYS super polite and helpful.
    Because they use more common sensors it is easy to add things, like door locks, into their system.

    Issues
    Had to return the motion detector because it kept picking up my 20# dog no matter what I did.

    Got a secondary panel to mount on the wall near the door so I could hide the bulky panel out of site. Secondary panel doesn’t chine when sensors are opened! Removing it to return led to having to repaint my living room because the mounting strip wouldn’t release.

    Glass break sensor decided to just fall off of the wall, it uses the same strips the secondary panel does!

    Smoke detector starts going off that there is a fire. Thankfully I was home and knew it was false since my hardwired detector 12″ away wasn’t going off.

    One of my bedroom sensors is always losing contact. Even though there are 3 additional sensors on EITHER side of the one losing contact they claim its having interference. The other 6 around it have NEVER had an issue. So that led to a replacement with a king range sensor.

    Their app worked great until about 2 weeks ago when it stopped showing the current status of the panel. ie I would arm it and panel would show it is armed but app still displayed disarmed. I was on hold for about 30 minutes and finally did the leave a call back # at about 5pm on a Saturday. I did not get a call back until TUESDAY!

    Some components that had to be returned were never proberly processed in their system leading to additional charges on my credit card. I had to find the tracking numbers to prove they were returned, even though they sent me the labels!

    Account charges were double billed one month. I understand things happen but as you can see it’s another bumb on a long road.

    About 6 months that in I wanted to cancel due to all of the issues. After spending an hour on the phone and talking to 2 different managers the best I got was to “only” charge me $750 to cancel!! I understand contracts very well and if the service contracted isn’t provided you should have the right to leave with no penalties. Getting an attorney involved would lead to that very quickly I am sure. Unfortunately the attorney would cost about what the cancellation would ,or more. That is probably what they count on.

    In hindsight, and as soon as my contract is cancelled or expires, I would go with SimpliSafe. My parents have had then for years and are very happy with it. Yes, the equipment doesn’t work with all providers and will run you a bit more upfront. Because they make all of their equipment it works better with their systems as a whole. If you are unhappy you can simply cancel with no fees. I guarantee you the equipment purchase with SimpliSafe will cost you less than the contract cancellation when your unhappy with Frontpoint.

    I am really disappointed. Reading the reviews and everything Frontpoint claimed I had high hopes for this system. As I said earlier they probably have the friendliest customer service reps I have dealt with. Unfortunately that does not make up for poor equipment and the time and frustration involved. If you really must have a system you can move to different provides then go with ADT. You will pay more but at least they will be installing and dealing with the issues when you inevitably have issues.
