Individual Frontpoint Equipment

Door / Window Sensor — $32.99: Window and door sensors actually include a magnet as well, which is placed on the window with the sensor being placed on the window frame (same placement concept with doors). The connection between the sensor and the magnet breaks when the window or door is opened; this break in the connection is what trips the alarm. There are a variety of different types of window and door sensors. The main distinction is whether the sensor is recessed or surface mounted. The difference between the two is that a recessed door sensor is hidden from view inside drilled holes in the door, frame, or wall. A surface-mounted sensor is visible to everyone. 

Motion Sensor — $64.99: There are two different types of motion sensors: active sensors and passive sensors. Active sensors are essentially radar-based motion detectors, which use ultrasonic sound waves that reflect back-and-forth between the surrounding environment and the sensor. This reflection is repeated until interference is detected, tripping an alarm, opening a garage, or even opening a door. Passive sensors utilize either heat sensors or lasers to detect disruptions. 

Glass Break Sensor — $74.99: Glass break sensors use microphone and advanced sound technology to detect the frequency of the sound of breaking glass. 

Garage Door Sensor — $44.99: These sensors send out an alarm by detecting the tilt angle of a garage door. Garage door sensors generally signal a central monitoring station once the door hits a 45 degree angle.

Carbon Monoxide Sensor — $89.99: These sensors detect the levels of carbon monoxide in your home over time. If these levels increase, an alarm is triggered. You should have at least one carbon monoxide sensor for every floor of your home. If you have a garage attached to your home, you should also place a carbon monoxide detector in your garage. Many people believe that carbon monoxide detectors are not reliable, given the fact that they typically do not trigger until it detects concentrations of 40 PPM for longer than 10 hours.

Flood Sensor — $44.99: Flood sensors may seem redundant. After all, if there's a flood in your home, you'll probably notice it without the sensor. However, flood sensors are useful for those with large homes, for hard to detect leaks, and for homeowners who find themselves travelling for large periods of time.

Smoke / Heat Sensor — $64.99: The benefits of fire, heat, and smoke detectors are obvious. Fires spread quickly and destroy completely, so every second counts when trying to fight fire. Smoke and heat detectors are must-have essential home security devices.

Indoor Camera — $99-199.99: These wireless indoor cameras function through an RG transmitter, which allows them to record and transmit video. Video feed is either stored or viewed live after it is sent to a receiver. 

Outdoor Camera — $199.99: Outdoor security cameras use WiFi radio signals to connect to allow you to view, record, and store video feed. You can typically access these videos from your mobile security app.

Skybell Doorbell Camera — $189.99: Doorbell cameras function just like normal outdoor or indoor cameras. They allow you to view and usually speak to people who approach your door and ring your doorbell.

Light Control — $49.99: Light control technology allows the homeowner to turn lights on and off from a distance. You can also time lights to turn on and off at specific times.

Garage Door Remote — $69.99: Allows homeowners to open and close the garage door from a distance.

Smart Lock — $179.99: A smart door lock works through a bluetooth connection between the lock itself and your smartphone. The lock can be timed, locked, and unlocked from your smart home app. Some smart locks will include a keypad, but are not completely necessary.

Home Automation Options

Frontpoint has a multitude of home automation options in its "Professional Package". For $49.99/month customers receive the Frontpoint home automation and video monitoring on top of the basic security package.

With this plan, you'll be notified immediately of any alarm activity within the home-whether it's a matter of security or an environmental threat.  You'll also be reminded if you leave without arming your system, using the Frontpoint location-based Geo-Services.

An excellent offer that comes with this program is the light control feature. You can customize an on/off schedule or set lights to trigger automatically in reaction to a sensor alarm. There is also environmental protection to protect you against Carbon Monoxide (CO), extreme temperatures, or flooding. With the Interactive plan, you additionally get sensors and thermostats to guard against these calamities.

This Frontpoint package includes a 30-day money-back guarantee trial period, free text and email notifications, and the option to do self-installation.

However, Frontpoint does not sell the door locks,  or a thermostat, etc. The reason for this is that the Frontpoint home automation system is a self-setup, so it can be difficult for someone to install their own locks and thermostats so they operate correctly.

Another potential issue for many is that Frontpoint's automation system is a self-setup system. While the system is generally simple to set up, there are some who may struggle with connecting it to their smart home devices.

Took a look online and everywhere they are listed as the best. I've only had the system for a few months, but I'm finding more and more annoyances. So far I've seen a laggy panel. Not sure if this is standard, but having to reenter your access code because the panel doesn't capture a digit is worrisome. Secondly, over the phone I was told the panel doubles as a photo frame. What they didn't tell me is that it is limited to only 20 photos and that the photos need to be in a strict format. < 1mb each and 800x480 resolution. Come on guys, this isn't the 80's anymore, catch up to today's technology!!

Simply horrible. Cancellation policy requires you to pay 80% of the remaining balance. We pay upfront for equipment, we do self installation, ah need to pay cancellation policy after using for two years and now need to pay not 10%....30% may be, ....50% have mercy on customers, ....80% sounds magic! Why not just do 100%... will make Front Point a better company.... Bad experience... sorry

I have interacted with customer service a few times and they have been exceptional. I liked the equipment, although I was informed when purchasing that the image sensor would not detect digs under 40lbs. However, my 11lbs chihuahua has set it off in the past, now I am forced to always arm it as "armed, stay" so it won't set off and give us a false alarm.

My sister has Frontpoint and recently had her house broken into. It worked like a charm. As soon as her alarm went off, the guy quickly left the house. I was notified as a contact and met the police at her house. The guy had let one of her dogs out so I got there quick enough to get him back inside as she lives on a busy street. That night I called and ordered my system. The guy I spoke with was amazing. I had an Angie's list deal and got an amazing system for 199$. I have set my alarm off accidentally once since I got it and they quickly called me and asked if everything was ok. I would recommend Frontpoint to anyone!

The only problem I've had was our small dog gets on the back of our sofa and sets off the motion detector. Setting the alarm to arm-stay keeps that from happening but completely negates the need for motion detectors. I was told to lower the motion detector but I'm not sure how that will help.

I remember spending more than 2 months in requesting quotes from different security system companies and couldn't make up my mind until I searched for "highest rated companies" on Google. Frontpoint was highest rated but wasn't sure about wireless features. I decided to give it a try since they offered risk free trial for 60 days. My wife and I absolutely fell in love with the wireless features. I brag about our wireless panel and sensors to all our family and friends. Lots of problems. Still have 1 door sensor and camera I can't use. Also motion image sensor that sends false alarms all the time. Was promised call back 2 days ago and got nothing. Have had 2 other sensors replaced already and it been just over 30 days. Want my money back!!

I tried calling their phone number to talk to a representative to get some basic questions answered. Had to go thru a myriad of automated features trying to get my phone, address, etc.. When I finally got to a connection for a live body it went to eternal elevator music hold and after several minutes I just gave up.

We were unfamiliar with security systems and after our recent move decided we needed one in our new location. Installation was remarkably uncomplicated - just a couple of hours of walking around the house and picking best locations for motion sensors and installing window and door sensors. The assistance from a Frontpoint person by phone was extremely helpful in determining what sensors we would need, how to install them, and how to use the system. Like that we can have several modes of security - one for window/door sensors only, one for window/door sensors and motions sensors. Love the fact that we can each turn the security system on and off remotely with our iPhones. We even have our garage covered. Now when we leave home we feel so much more secure. And on vacations, its a win-win.

I've had my Frontpoint Security system for almost two months and am enjoying it so far. There are a couple of quirks with the motion detectors, though. I was told they wouldn't pick up anything under 40 lbs, and well.... that's not exactly true. I have two cats, and they have set off my alarm system during the day when I'm not there because they "got in the direct line of the laser". So that was a little hiccup I had to maneuver around. I wish that information would have been provided when upon purchasing the Frontpoint Security system just so I could place the motion detectors in adequate locations without having to go through the experience of my alarm system being set off. Other than that, I've enjoyed the sense of security the alarm system has provided.

I do not feel that my home is fully protected wit the amount of gear I was given when I signed on with Frontpoint. Two motion sensors and two door\window alarms are not enough. Adding extra gear is too expensive and over priced by Frontpoint. The service provided is fine and I have been very happy from that perspective.

I am so very happy with my new Frontpoint security system. I set it up in about 30 minutes and it was armed and ready within an hour. We left a door slightly open by mistake and got a text soon after with an alert! Also got one when we lost power and when it was restored. This company is so much better to my former one!!!!
