Home Automation Options

Frontpoint has a multitude of home automation options in its "Professional Package". For $49.99/month customers receive the Frontpoint home automation and video monitoring on top of the basic security package.

With this plan, you'll be notified immediately of any alarm activity within the home-whether it's a matter of security or an environmental threat.  You'll also be reminded if you leave without arming your system, using the Frontpoint location-based Geo-Services.

An excellent offer that comes with this program is the light control feature. You can customize an on/off schedule or set lights to trigger automatically in reaction to a sensor alarm. There is also environmental protection to protect you against Carbon Monoxide (CO), extreme temperatures, or flooding. With the Interactive plan, you additionally get sensors and thermostats to guard against these calamities.

This Frontpoint package includes a 30-day money-back guarantee trial period, free text and email notifications, and the option to do self-installation.

However, Frontpoint does not sell the door locks,  or a thermostat, etc. The reason for this is that the Frontpoint home automation system is a self-setup, so it can be difficult for someone to install their own locks and thermostats so they operate correctly.

Another potential issue for many is that Frontpoint's automation system is a self-setup system. While the system is generally simple to set up, there are some who may struggle with connecting it to their smart home devices.

I cannot express this enough - DO NOT SIGN UP WITH FRONTPOINT! I chose to use this company, and had no issues when it came to the monitoring of my alarm system on my home. However, that all changed when I needed to cancel my account years later. In June 2019, I gave them my 30 day written notice. I was told I'd get charged for July, which I understood, but then my account would be closed and I would no longer get charged. In August, I checked my credit card statement and saw my credit card was in fact charged. I then logged in on my account with them, and it was still open. I called to get this figured out, and I had to sit on hold for over an hour to talk to the right person to credit my credit card and close my account. I was reassured I would get my money back and would no longer receive charges on my credit card. Well that was another LIE. Here it is, September, and I received another charge on my credit card from them! I logged in on my account with them and it is still open! I just had to sit on hold for the correct department for 30 minutes again! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. If I wasn't checking my statements, I would keep getting these charges and would have no idea. They send no confirmation that your account is officially closed. You are just suppose to take their word for it, which obviously does NOTHING. When I called this month, I was once again "reassured" that my account will be closed and I wouldn't receive anymore charges. We will see though. At this point, I have sent in a notice to the BBB and I am reviewing them everywhere to warn others. If you enjoy being lied to and then sitting on hold to try and get your money back, etc. then go with FrontPoint. If not, choose another company!

I think they offer the best option for monitoring on the computer and also through the app on the phone. Very helpful when we have technical issues and actually follow through and follow up. The sensor has fallen off a few times and at times the signal is not strong.

Great customer service and affordable products. They have training videos on how to install it and it's easy. They've been great helping me troubleshoot different systems and also when my alarm system was triggered they called me and let me know. I don't have to worry when I'm not there. I had some difficulty getting technical help early on. Sometimes it requires 2 or 3 calls to get through. I'd like to be able to talk to someone immediately. Everything seems to be working fine now. It's nice to know that the house is protected.

Very satisfied with the alarm system. Easy to arm and disarm from your phone. The cameras are the only thing that don't work to well for me. I live on a corner street and I get a notification every 2 minutes. It uses up all my storage in a day and the cameras aren't as sharp as they could be.

BEWARE READ BEFORE PURCHASE, wish we knew!!!! This will be the fifth defective fire alarm. We get false alarms all the time. We have had the fire department here wasting their time & money all due to false alarms. We have been called back home by false alarms, when even being in the hospital thinking, omg, our dogs, but no fire, just another faulty piece equipment. Five times already. Its now 3:30 a.m. and we had another false alarm. They refuse to refund us for equipment. AND They refuse to cancel our contract without charging us $479.00 We will see you in COURT!!

Only two (2) things i suggest improvement on. 1) better online support for the hub (for example what does a blue light mean?) 2) the sticky paper for the door sensors is not the best. When it falls off, alarm goes off, police come and a fine is issued.

We have had numerous issues with their equipment and they've resulted in way too many false alarms. From the equipment falling off the walls (their units adhere to the wall and of course adhesive fails over time but you don't know when that will happen) to worse, the units just failing. Last night, our 8 month old smoke and heat detector malfunctioned and wouldn't stop beeping after sending out 4 false calls that we had to shut down. The company won't warranty it - forget three years. If you are on month to month, which they promote as a huge benefit to using them, they don't warranty your product AT ALL. Period. Could be a day old and too bad according to them. This is on the heels of another unit malfunctioning twice, the second time causing the police to come. This is serious. Police are too busy for this stuff. We've had to replace the entire panel as well as it's battery and we've only had the system 5 years total. The new light units they sent malfunctioned. I'd bought those to replace my original one that with only sporadic use here and there, had malfunctioned. Enough. We will be leaving them.

This company should not be in business. They sale you a product and service to monitor. Then wait 6 minute to call police. During that time they stole about 13800.00 out of the home. Then front point required use to pay for remainder of payment before we could get a good alarm company. Will not recommend this company for anything. I deserve all my money returned plus the 13800.00 dollars lost due to their stupidity or laziness

The entire time with Frontpoint, the break-ins never stopped. Each time I asked questions, they assured me the system could not be compromised. I called to cancel because crooks were never kept out, never set off alarm, never left pictures or any data. Talked into upgraded system that would do the trick. 30 day trial. Sign contract for product. Then read their blog on jammers compromising the system. Sent upgrades back and wanted to cancel. Now I'm told I have a 3 year contract. Makes no difference what customer service said. And insisted jammers won't work in spite of company blog. Even the wifi cameras can be easily jammed. Finally, I spoke to someone who said my description of the incidents was hacking. Anything with an IP address can be hacked. Swell. Now I am still stuck with a service that has never come through and seems is not protected from hacking. I really feel deceived and betrayed.

I think they could be a little bit cheaper but I am willing to pay the price for the customer service and the equipment. They are always there if you have problems and will troubleshoot it. It seems to work, when you open the door the alarm goes off. I haven’t had one issue yet.

Customer service’s technical skills are good, they know what I am talking about and resolve the issues but one concern is I was trying to call and it went to an auto thing that said it would call back the next day but it didn’t. The equipment is easy to use but I am not able to connect it to my home WIFI.

They seem pretty happy to help and they will do pretty much anything to make sure you have a good experience. We’ve had to send back multiple sensors because the completely fail to be seen by the security hub and we still have issues with sensors ten percent of the time. It is convenient to able to look at my phone to know certain events or to check on my dog.

I feel more secure. I wish they would make their app available at a reasonable price, it seem like it charges ten dollars a month to use the app. Everything has been great except some of the stuff doesn’t take well. Ninety percent of the time when I call, I can get through pretty quickly and they resolve whatever issue I have.
