Home Automation Options

Frontpoint has a multitude of home automation options in its "Professional Package". For $49.99/month customers receive the Frontpoint home automation and video monitoring on top of the basic security package.

With this plan, you'll be notified immediately of any alarm activity within the home-whether it's a matter of security or an environmental threat.  You'll also be reminded if you leave without arming your system, using the Frontpoint location-based Geo-Services.

An excellent offer that comes with this program is the light control feature. You can customize an on/off schedule or set lights to trigger automatically in reaction to a sensor alarm. There is also environmental protection to protect you against Carbon Monoxide (CO), extreme temperatures, or flooding. With the Interactive plan, you additionally get sensors and thermostats to guard against these calamities.

This Frontpoint package includes a 30-day money-back guarantee trial period, free text and email notifications, and the option to do self-installation.

However, Frontpoint does not sell the door locks,  or a thermostat, etc. The reason for this is that the Frontpoint home automation system is a self-setup, so it can be difficult for someone to install their own locks and thermostats so they operate correctly.

I got a pushy salesperson and bought a system knowing that I can retract. I did and now I wait for 15 days for my refund and had to call several times, being connected FOUR times and waiting loooong.....never again. They claim customer service as their strength, and the truth comes out when the rubber hits the road.....they dont cherish customers at all

Upon installation of my system I was able to go to the app and see all of my sensor points listed and when they had been activated. This feature was deleted sometime later and when I called customer service was told that this feature could be restored for an additional $10 per month. Very disapointing money grab on their part.

BEWARE. While I was happy with the service when I had it, but when I tried to cancel it, that is when the problem started. I call and gave my verbal password to cancel the service, they still wanted to charge me an extra month for service when I no longer owned the house. Beware of when you try to cancel clearly calling is not enough.

Do NOT enter any contract agreement with FrontPoint. Faulty and unreliable hardware and software! Multiple instances of false alarm and system failure. Troubleshooting has not resolved the issues and FrontPoint refuses any contract termination. Customer service channels were once fully staffed, now you get to enjoyed the automated answer services. FrontPoint leads with profitability over customer safety.

I am moving to Ring after three years. I had the glass breaks, and they fell from the walls. When I contacted Frontpoint, they sent me simple two sided stickers for the walls. I eventually set them on the floor. Guest would ask what they were and I would tell them they won't stay on the walls. They did respond when alarm went off accidentally.

I called in Jan to cancel service due to selling my rental property, but I was advised I had to pay until end of contract which was another 10 months. I said instead of paying a lump sum I will pay until end of contract which I did plus one extra month. They tell me now because I did not notify them in writing the contract is still valid

We've had an overall good experience. Getting signed up with FrontPoint was a bit of a challenge because there was a ton of phone tag with the rep. Working full time that wasn't easy to break away to talk for periods of time multiple times just to get set up. We finally asked for another available rep at the time we called to just get it done. Since having our system it's been great, from packaging presentation, set up ease, and follow up support. The app is pretty good too. Would like the feature of alarm set with no delay Thru the app and to be able to silence the beeping as the alarms are setting Thru the app.

First of all, this service is NOT worth the price of the monthly bill. Getting out of the service is even worse and dealing with an inflexible, unfriendly customer service group is near unbearable. To get someone on the phone for help takes an average of 20-30 minutes and they are anything but service oriented. Run, do not walk, away from this company. I used them for over 5 years, I hate to admit, and have regretted ever signing a contract to use them. They are awful. Robert Church

You are locked into a three year contract with them. If you cancel before then, you will OWE 80% of the remaining term monthly payments. And my image sensors became obsolete within a year. You buy it, you own it, you're STUCK with it.

I moved after two years using the Front Point System. I tried on multiple occasions to cancel or pay for early termination of contract, they forced me into a 3 year contract, and I had no luck with cancellation. I spoke to multiple people at Frontpoint, they are nice until you try to cancel. I have tried all the normal means of resolving this issue to no avail. Buyer beware.

A few months ago, I would have given FrontPoint a 10. We used their service for 5 years in our last house, and had 0 issues with the system which covered two buildings. Their customer service was always excellent - prompt, and always solved the minor issues we called about. We installed the same equipment in our new home, and again had the same positive experience. Except the sales person we dealt with talked us into purchasing another panel, while we waited for their touch screen panel to ship. We waited for months, and finally found out that they had discontinued this new panel, and now has a new Hub product. We had to pay for that, even though we paid for the older panel which we had to ship back. I was very disappointed in the way we were treated. Since installing the new hub, we have had several false alarms, and the sensors are behaving erratically. I had to reposition most of the sensors, and have had to call support multiple times - they tell me that there are no problems with the hub, but why am I experiencing the sensor issues when all I’ve changed is the hub? If we continue to have these issues, I may wind up dropping FrontPoint.

When I first joined, their "easy to install" devices weren't working so I had to wait for them to send me some other stuff. Then I cancelled within the trial period because I wasn't happy and they charged me 80% of the 3 year agreement total because apparently the equipments had to be returned within the trial period too which none of the people I talked when cancelling told me about. They do everything they can to make you join but once you decide to leave they do everything they can to charge you.Nat

Cancellation of service was a nightmare. I was billed an additional two months for because they require 30 days of cancellation and if your notice of cancellation falls in the middle of their billing cycle you'll get hit for another month. When I first tried to cancel, my cancellation order wasn't even processed until I called to complain about the extra billing on my credit card. I spoke to an individual named Ryan F who was rude and refused to transfer me to any other representatives. When I requested to speak to a supervisor, he refused stating that he was the only person I could speak to. BEWARE WITH SHADY COMPANIES LIKE THIS ONE WHO PENALIZE CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY CANCEL THEIR SERVICE!!!! I simply needed to cancel because the home I purchased already had a security system and I no longer needed their services. I was a customer for over three years with no issues when it came to the system. However, their cancellation policy and how the treat customers over the phone is atrocious.

It's 2019 and I get a lot of spam/robocalls. I usually delete robo voicemails unheard but I decided to finally listen to one from a number that kept calling. It was Frontpoint telling me "my account needs updated". I then realized I had a new debit card number and they needed it. This is their business model, no letters, no calls from a real person, no emails, just robo voicemails. I decided to do some Googling and realized that FrontPoint was one of the most expensive alarm systems and this was their definition of "customer service". I purchased a new, much cheaper alarm system (with the same features) and installed it. I called FrontPoint to cancel and they told me the same thing you'll read in other reviews online. FrontPoint requires a "30 Day Cancellation Notice". This means that even though the alarm is sitting in a box next to my garbage can, I'll still be paying for service for 30 days after I "cancel". The person on the phone kept trying to rationalize "the monitoring is in place and we pre pay for it so it's there whether you use it or not" as if that makes me feel better about giving you $44 more for nothing. Making the last exchange with a customer unpleasant is a sure fire way to get bad reviews and close that door forever. It would be very easy to just wrap it up and say have a nice day. I recommend steering clear of this company and their "squeeze every last dollar out" practices. Since the last exchange I've had daily email dialogue where Frontpoint refuses to give me the total amount and due date to finalize my service in writing. They require me to cancel in writing but won't give me something to dispute later should they try to keep charging me (which many online reviews say they do). A lawyer friend advised me to get this in writing and not call in but every time I contact them via email or support form, they call me or tell me to call them. The extra month of billing and reluctance to provide a final bill with a due date in writing seems unethical and possibly illegal.

This is literally the worst company I have dealt with. We were offered 60 days risk free trial period. At no point during the signing up process, the salesperson explained to us that the mobile app, which remotely controls the system, was NOT included in our monthly contract. In order to use that feature, we will have to pay $10 more each month (which we found out as soon as the trial period ended). The tricky part of the company's sale practice is that no customer would find out that the app isn't actually included until the trial period ends just so to make sure that the customers are stuck with a system that they cannot use effectively unless they pay more. We repeatedly contact the business trying to cancel the contract but they wouldn't allow it unless we pay 80% of the remaining contract and also wouldn't allow us to return the equipment (even though they admitted to the misleading sales practice in writing). We have been trying to speak with the company for the past 6 months but it led no where. The company would promise to call and never call. Stay away from FrontPoint if you can!

Buyer beware!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID! We had frontpoint for about a year and a half and entered into a long term contract as they had excellent ratings. Sadly the system did not work for us because of the lengthy delay in calling after an alarm sounds. Did not feel secure!!! The company waits for the alarm to be going off for a minimum 30 seconds and then will attempt to reach you prior to calling police. This ends up being a delay of calling police of several minutes. I had never heard of this as with other companies we had a call the minute the alarm went off we were receiving a call from the alarm company to see if it was a false alarm or if we need it immediate help. We live in a major city and safety is the main reason for having this. Several minutes is way too long. We discussed this with frontpoint customer service and expressed our dissatisfaction and were told at that point that there was nothing they could do. After much back-and-forth we elected to cancel the service and paid a hefty over $600 fee to cancel. After paying that penalty we were still charged another month fee because they reported receiving the email one day after the new cycle I had an alarm we were not using for six months at that point. When we brought this to their attention they refused to return the fee. They will do everything possible to discount and GET your service. But when it comes to helping you after they tell you to bad you’re in a contract. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Long time customer who was migrated to new FrontPoint Hub system. Have had multitude of problems since from faulty equipments to false alarms with fire dept dispatched. Had 4 pieces of their equipment replaced within 2 week period. Customer service not even sorry just keeps sending new equipment.

I’ve had FrontPoint for about three years. Overall, I’ve been pretty disappointed. The hardware is really mediocre. I’ve had to send multiple sensors back because they either never worked, or stopped working after a few months. Just recently, one of my motion sensors began malfunctioning. Now every other day, I get another false alarm, which has caused me to stop using the system altogether while I wait for a new part to ship out. The software is also clunky. Although I’ve never had problems with the app, the in-house LED monitor malfunctions a lot, resetting suddenly on its own, and even triggering the alarm on Stay Mode (when the motion sensors are off and you can walk around the house). To top it all off, the customer service is no longer as good as it was when I first purchased the system. For example, when an alarm occurs now, I get an automated message. Honestly, this is insane. When my alarm is triggered, I want a human being on the other line calling me to see if I need help, not an automated system asking me to press “1” or “2”. When my contract is up next month, I’ll be canceling my FP service. For nearly $50/month, I expect a much better product and much more effective customer service.

When I first got the system, I found it easy to install and setup. From there it worked flawlessly for a few weeks. Then I started having issues with sensors and the control panel. After dozens of calls and literally 40-50 hours on the phone with them, I'm finally writing a review. I always try to allow businesses to redeem their mistakes, as I'm also a business person and would hope for the same opportunity. If you look at my other reviews, I give a mostly 4-5 star ratings. I don't recall EVER giving a 1 star before, so it must be pretty bad. Frontpoint Security is by FAR the worst alarm system I have EVER worked with, and I have worked with dozen in my career. I believe all but one sensor has had to be replaced at least once. Some sensors have been replaced three to four times. The complete head unit has been replaced too. When they replaced the head unit, it was downgraded in capabilities, yet I was told if I didn't send the old unit back, I'd be charged several hundred dollars. When I call tech support, I get the run around as to why the system won't work in my 596 square foot building. If the sensors can't work with direct line of site from at worst case 26' 1" away, how can it be expected to protect a home or larger business. I've now been fighting this system for nearly 2 1/2 years. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in a three years contract, which I've asked them to consider letting me out of since their system doesn't work for me. They are not being flexible at all, and I'm now looking to get another alarm company in to protect my premises, and will just pay-off the rest of my contract. I strongly urge you to RESEARCH before choosing an alarm company, and if you go with Frontpoint, I hope you don't run into the same issues I had.
