With 2UL certified central monitoring stations, your home can be monitored 24/7. General Security has one of the largest customer bases of locally monitored alarm systems from upstate New York, to North Carolina. Your home can also be protected with the following state-of-the-art features:
- Control Panel and Key Pads
- Door and Window Sensors
- Interior Motion Sensors (Pet-Friendly models available!)
- Glass Break Devices
- Audible Alarm Sirens
- Remote Controls
- Yard Signs and Window Stickers included
General Security uses their own PROTECTION CONNECTION™ system with the option to set up multiple cameras you can monitor right from your PC or laptop. Using their smart technology, you can ensure every area of your property is completely safe.
General Security's commercial security systems are definitely high-tech and high quality. Here are some facts about their commercial systems:
- The keypad located at entrances allows you to arm and disarm the security system.
- Door contacts are magnetic devices that trigger the alarm system when opened.
- Motion sensors are interior protection devices which detect changes in infrared energy levels.
- Glassbreak detectors identify the sound of breaking glass.
- Sirens and strobes are attached to the interior and exterior of the building to draw attention to the intrusion.
General Security has a limited service area. Their areas are Rochester, Richmond VA, Buffalo NY, Winston Salem NC, Long Island, Utica NY, and Albany NY.
Their typical contract is five years. A month-to-month contract is not available unless you want to pay for the system up-front, which is a little over $500 (though this has not been confirmed).
General Security has plenty of experience in protecting homes, having been deep-rooted in the east coast. However, compared to other home security systems, their monthly costs are high. For a more affordable home security system, we recommend checking out Protect America.

I had the displeasure to use their services today, the Utica NY Branch ran by an Alfred B a real gangster that blackmailed us in up sells and upgrades worth over $10,000 when he refused he called Codes, lied and misrepresented the issues to try to have them shut down the building. General Security business model is really based on extortion and racketeering. I will be reporting their illegal conduct to the New York Attorney General's office under the consumer fraud and deceptive practices act.

Technician Adam came to our house punctually, very professional...We told him we had just solved the problem ourselves and were canceling the call since the chirping we heard was not coming from our smoke detector. He graciously marked us as a canceled call. Would definitely use General Security again for any security need.

do not do business with this company. very poorly run business with unprofessional staff. they hang up the phone on you if they don't agree with you. I called because of over billing and Christine, the head of billing, simply hung the phone up on me because she didnt agree with me. they over billed me and wouldn't give me a refund. they sign you up for a 5-yr contract without disclosing any information on length of contract and then bill you credit card so i asked for my contract to be terminated. They terminated the services but did not terminate the billing. therefore the services aren't in effect but they are still charging my card. Do not do business with this company! they are only in it for the money! not helpful at all! The customer is NOT always right here and they will have the last say and hang the phone up on you. they dont care since they have your credit card info already! reporting to the bbb immediately!

I've been with General for many years. Two other companies couldn't resolve my false alarm issue General sent a tech that resolved it in one visit. I have since updated my system and am very happy.

We have been customers for several years and I wouldn't recommend anyone else. We just upgraded so we can use our cell phones. I love it!

Top technology and professional installation. Better prices than competition. Website has pricing listed. Contracts from 1 to 5 years to accommodate all consumers. Uses cellular communication instead of landline or Wi-Fi for safety.
