I did not use Guardian at all. This review is about their aggressive behavior to establish meetings with clients. I tried to cancel a meeting with them and I was told the meeting was necessary before my home could be built, which was not true. They said they needed to establish "standards". My builder said he contacted them to say the meeting was not necessary and would be cancelled. On the day of the "cancelled" meeting I was contacted again by Guardian asking for confirmation for the meeting. They were saying that if I still wanted to cancel, a meeting was still necessary to establish standards before a deadline with the builder was reached. I felt like they were trying to force me into using them. It was super aggressive and I was immediately turned off from them.Read More

I haven't had too much of a reason to use customer service yet, but they've been nothing but helpful. The sensors are pretty low profile, and it's easy to use. But, make sure you know how much you're paying a month for your services, I was told one thing and got something else.Read More

The Good

  • Special Pricing for besthomesecuritycompanys.com Visitors
  • Superior Home Security Features
  • Cellular Monitoring
  • Home Automation Options Available
  • Guaranteed Rate-Fix with 60-Month Contract

Guardian Protection provides home security systems that easily compete with some of the top security companies in the industry. The alarm company offers three separate home security packages with 24/7 professional monitoring to fit a variety of budgets and homes.

  1. Edge Essential – Includes a central touchscreen control keypad in-home monitoring station, window/door sensors, and motion sensors.
  2. Edge Control – Includes all features of the Essential package plus the customers choice of one home automation device.
  3. Edge Premium – The most complete home security system with home automation. Includes all features of the other packages, the choice of one home automation device, plus two indoor Wi-Fi security cameras with night vision.

Unlike some companies, Guardian Protection also offers a number of home automation features, branded as Guardian Edge. They allow users to control their security system remotely and prevent false alarms. Home automation comes standard on all but Guardian Protection’s most basic service and gives customers the freedom to control security features, climate control, and light fixtures all from Guardian Protection’s useful mobile app.

Consumers may choose from smart door locks, thermostats, light modules, or garage door switches for home automation.

In addition to the landline monitoring services found in most home security systems, Guardian Protection also provides backup cellular monitoring services in the event that your electricity goes out. Guardian Protection also employs Smash-and-Crash technology to ensure homes remain protected even when the system is tampered with or destroyed. The GE Simon XT control panel can let homeowners know whether window sensors or door sensors were activated and when. A customer will also have the option of Guardian’s two-way voice feature, a hands-free emergency calling feature that lets you speak directly to a Guardian monitoring center operator from anywhere in the room when an alarm is triggered.

Guardian Protection provides a “Family of Guarantees”. With the Best Price Guarantee, Guardian Protection Services will “match any comparable written quote or qualified internet offer for installation and activation of a base home security system.” The theft protection guarantee states the company will give you up to $500 toward your insurance deductible if your home is burglarized while being monitored by their system. Charging customers a fixed rate for such a long time is also something that sets Guardian Protection apart. Additionally, Guardian does have a fairly unique feature in its cancellation policy that allows customers to keep their home security equipment even after they have canceled their contract.

Every home security system sold by Guardian Protection Services is custom-designed and professionally installed. Guardian Protection offers a wide variety of equipment so you can tailor your system to include a sensor and control for your garage door or video surveillance in your backyard.

Guardian Protection also offers special pricing for besthomesecuritycompanys.com visitors. To receive this special offer, visit the Guardian Protection website through one of the links featured on this page.

The Bad

  • More Expensive System
  • Unknown Cancellation Policy
  • Poor Online Transparency
  • Limited Availability

Guardian Protection boasts high-end, cutting-edge technology and equipment, including motion detectors, window sensors, video surveillance, smoke detectors, and the aforementioned control panel that allows for two-way communication. However, customers may find themselves paying a bit more for Guardian Protection’s equipment and protection plan than they would with other industry leaders. Repair fees outside of Guardian Protection Service’s extensive warranty can also be quite costly.

There appears to be some confusion with regard to specifics surrounding Guardian Protection’s advertised contract lengths and cancellation policy. This confusion is due in large part to Guardian Protection’s poor online transparency as well as its method of contract delivery. The Guardian Protection website proffers little useful contract information regarding policies, terms and conditions, and exclusions. Customers are largely at the mercy of the terms of the actual contract, which is delivered in an electronic format. Several customers have complained that these contracts are not only difficult to read but can also sometimes be inaccurate.

Guardian Protection is not a nationwide home security, burglar alarm provider, and the following 16 states are the only that they service: Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.. While Guardian Protection still manages to service most of the country, other top home security companies have true nationwide threat protection.

The Bottom Line

Guardian Protection is a top performer in the home security industry. The company employs the latest technology with its high-end equipment and provides flexible pricing options that fit most budgets. Guardian Protection also provides some unique features, such as a fixed-rate 60-month contract that set it apart from the competition; however, customers should also be aware that Guardian Protection does not service every state, and unless they read the fine print of the contract they could be paying more than they expected for Guardian Protection services.

Terrible company. Total rip off. Doorbell camera installed in April 2018. Has not worked properly since installation. The tecninicians do not know how to install anything without having to call in to the 1 800 number. To make a long story short in my opinion just go with another company. Worst I have ever dealt with

I got Guardian Jan 2017. We were told it was a 2 year contract little an behold it was 60 months.. we got through that shock, well we ended up moving, we were told you have to take it with you, or $750.00 cancellation fee. So we take it with. $145.00 transfer fee. Dealt with that. I asked several times dose it start the contract over, “no mam “is what I was told several times ,,, I was lied to. Started the contract all over again ,!!!! I pay $51.95 a month and I didn’t get the same system in our new home! I was told that cost more money ! But I’m still paying $51.95 for something I don’t have with our system anymore. PLUS We Had our arlarm go off Saturday Night Due To The Door System Falling Off Because it’s on stickers NOT screwed into the wood. Not Only That, I Have A Wall That’s Not Fixed All The Way Do To A Hole That Was Put In By The Installer. Supposed To Be Fixed Today, We Shall See.. Now I’m In The Process of looking for a Lawyer. I could Never Work For A Company That Has To Lie To There Customers. VERY UPSET CUSTOMERS.

My husband and I wanted a system for the amount of time we were going to be in texas. We were told that we could easily cancel with military orders, and now they want to say that we cannot if we aren’t selling our home. The representative should have stated that in the first place, but of course they don’t to make a sale. Besides them not telling you everything that could prevent us from canceling, the customer service from the representative is ridiculously terrible. I am obviously aggravated by all the excuses and Kim decides to give great customer service with some attitude. If you’re looking to start a contact with them, make sure you ask every question possible and that comes to mind, because they it’s very clear that they need more training. Bottom line, we will never work with them again once we get rid of them, that’s for sure.

The sales person was a layer,
    The worst customer service,
No warranty of service, you pay a service but if it breaks you pay out of your pocket, incidents happens they don’t even know, they don’t get in contact with you, they don’t call to see if everything is ok,
They take money out of your account with no authorization.
They sold my account to different company.
I am very unhappy with this guardian company, I wish I can cancel the contract with this company this company is stealing money, very unsatusfie with the service.

Watch out for this company. Contract is for 60 mo. and if you do not send a written notice to cancel 60 days in advance they will try to charge you another year or more. They are rip of artist do not trust. The service is also very bad they will not call for alarms 50 percent of the times. They want the payment but do not want to service.

Guardian protection does not value their customers. I have been with them 4 for years. I was recently informed by Brinks that my account was transferred to them. I received no notification from Guardian Protection about this transfer. I am now under obligation with a company I never had an opportunity to agree to being serviced by. Very poor communication and customer service skills with Guardian protection.

Absolutely the worst customer service of any company. They are attempting to charge us $1100 for cancelling service when we cant take it to the new house and are moving. They are calling it an equipment fee since the equipment is cheaper when you have the contract. This is absurd for us since we have been with them for 4 years. Just avoid them and head to Brinks or use the new nest system which is fantastic.

As stated above their camera functionality is extremely weak. Been disputing with them for over a year with no resolution. Excuses and more excuses. There resolution was to send us to collections and disconnect service will we were in their so called dispute action. So I pay balance so it doesn’t effect my credit and services has still not been resolved. By the way I have been a Guardian customer for 18years though 3 moves. Can you say ” when does contract end”?

This has been the absolute worst. We bought our house in July 2015 got our system in September. Before a year went by got a call and was told our cameras were not working? Sounds a little strange to me? And it would cost us to fix them. First off the cameras haven’t been touched by anyone since they were put up so we couldn’t have broken them. Neededless to say I didn’t like the situation and toon the all down. After 2 years I went to cancel, then was told that I was in a 3 year contract. We have had alarms go off for no reason causing charges for police calls. I asked about the cancellation fee it’s more than my monthly fee over my contract. This company is rediculous. I finally just unplugged my system and stopped my auto draft. Now when my contract is up next month I’m so done.

They were partners with the home builder, so it came with our home. Their price is good and I like that they do stuff pre-billed. I haven’t dealt with them directly, only with their installers and their sales team. I had no issues with any of them though, they have been great. If they made a mistake, they would fix it quickly. They seem very knowledgeable. The equipment is great, but they only give you a very small network box for all their network stuff and you immediately have to open it and let stuff hang off of it. It’s not big enough for all the things they give you.

One of our neighbors has it and recommended it to us. There are other people here in the neighborhood that have it too, so we called them first. I’ve had it for about a month and so far things have been good. Whenever I have called, they’ve been very helpful. There are still a lot of questions that go unanswered, but that’s not their fault. The other thing is that the guy that came out here first was very nice. We were told everything about the service, but he wasn’t upfront about the price. I’ve been a little upset about that since I wasn’t told that there was a sales tax on the system, so the bill is now a lot more than what I thought it was going to be. We also weren’t offered other plans that could’ve worked better for us. That made me very upset.

I had Guardian Protection install my service within a few days of me closing and moving into my house in July 2014. I was assured at that time that batteries for the magnetic door/window sensors could be replaced; however, if I wanted to add to my service (such as video camera, etc.) it would cost me. Based on this assurance,I signed a five year contract under the impression that when I upgraded the original windows in the house the magnets would be replaced at no cost to me. This was false. Now that I’ve invested $17K in new windows and the batteries have died on the sensors, I was informed it would cost me $159 to have a technician come in to change the batteries in addition to the cost of the batteries and/or sensors OR I could purchase the batteries myself and change them, In light of the fact that this company requires a contract for 30 or 60 months to be signed prior to installation, one would think the company would stand behind its product and ensure their customer’s equipment is maintained over that time frame without the addition expense of paying a technician to come in and simply replace the magnets. It should be noted that my system was been inoperable for three months due to this problem. When I called to cancel the service, I was informed that it would cost me over $1000 to cancel the contract as I still have 14 months; however if I KEEP this inoperable system without the alarms properly functioning, the total bill would be approximately $681.80. I personally will hit every social site I have an account with and warn all my contact to avoid any and all contact with this company. Their a rip off.

I signed up for Guardian in May of 2017. In April of 2018 my smoke alarm began showing faults. I replaced the 3 AAA batteries with new batteries multiple times and the smoke alarm would show a fault a few days later. I call and schedule a service call through Guardian at which point in time I am made aware it will be a week before a technician can get to my home. That in itself was troubling but, you can’t help how busy the technicians are. The technician calls me the day before and says he will be at my house between the set hours. I inform him that’s fine but I need to be notified at least an hour before he arrives because I am at training for work and I’ll need to have someone meet him at the house. He says no problem and ask how far away I am from a certain city. I tell him at least an hour and a half and he then realizes I am three and a half hours away from him. So he shows up and never calls to let me know he is one the way and I can tell he’s agitated because I’m not home. I inform him that he was supposed to call me but I’ll have someone there shortly. My brother calls thirty minutes later and says we’re all set and everything is working correctly. I never receive a call from the technician saying what the problem was or that it was fixed. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I receive a bill for $199 in the mail. Due to the way the bill was written I couldn’t tell exactly what I was being charged for so I call Guardian. I am then told that the 3 AAA batteries needed replacing (I had replaced them 3 times within a couple weeks) and since batteries are considered perishable items that would not be covered under my warranty or insurance but they’ll knock $25 off of it just to be nice. I then ask how much time is remaining on my contract (thinking I signed up for 36 months) and they tell me I signed up for a 5 year contract leaving me with 48 months left but if I sign up for 12 more months they will forgive this one time bill. I then ask how much it would cost to terminate my service with them and I am told $1,250 plus any outstanding balance. This is outrageous. I thought dealing with AT&T was bad but Guardian has taken the cake. I will be speaking with an attorney to find out just how legally binding this contract really is. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY

Guardian rep talked us into upgrading our alarm system about a month ago. Last Saturday evening the smoke alarm went off because something dripped in the oven. We couldn’t get it to turn off, which freaked our dog out. Our previous sensor had a “dust cover” that we could attach to it temporarily if we were concerned about smoke. The cover for the new sensor does not fit, so it was useless. The Guardian customer service rep could not turn off the alarm either. So while my husband was talking to her, I was on a ladder removing the sensor to take out the batteries. My husband opened the front door to allow some clear air in and our dog ran out. We could not run after her because we were otherwise occupied and then the police and fire dept showed up. Our dog died later that night hit by a car. Needless to say we are upset. We have talked to 4 people this week asking for covers that fit altho it doesn’t matter now the damage is done. My husband requested a call from a supervisor yesterday and we have yet to receive a call back with a resolution. We are really disappointed in the poor customer service and intend to switch companies when our contract is up.

Save yourself the headache of dealing with this company. If you’ve already bought into their services then to you I say good luck. When we first got the house in 2013 we signed up for their services and signed onto a 5 year contract. We sold our house in January of 2017 and called them to cancel the services and monitoring. We were told the account can be set to terminate but we would have to pay until the end of the contract. We weren’t too happy about that but we did sign the contract so we agreed to pay for the remaining one year left on our contract. Fast forward it’s 2018. Our last payment was supposed to be in January of 2018 which we paid. We then got an autodraft notification in April from our bank about a payment to Guardian Protection Services for the months of February, March, and April. I called them and they apologized returned our money and said it won’t happen again. I was told the account would be taken care of and there was nothing else I needed to worry about. May came around and again another notification from our bank about an autodraft to Guardian Protection Services. I once again called after wasting an hour with the rep I was told yes I was correct we shouldn’t have been charged and there shouldn’t have been an autodraft. So I told the rep to delete the autodraft information from my account because I didn’t want them drafting from my account. She told me it should be fine because she cleared the account and set it to terminated I insisted on her to remove it so finally she did. Well today June 12th I get a call from Marsha who left a message that we owed them $108.00 for the months of February and March and that because there was no payment information on record the payment couldn’t be made so I needed to make a payment soon to avoid additional fees. So once again I called them back and the rep that answered told me “I looked at your account and it is correct you do owe a balance of $108.00”. I asked him if he really looked into it or just glanced at what the charges were for. He said he looked at all the notes and investigated the account thoroughly and that he could take my payment over the phone for me if I wanted. This upset me because I have records showing our end of contract not to mention all the other conversations I already had about this. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred. A supervisor Nancy came on and proceeded with the same bs as the rep so I informed her I was recording the call for legal purposes and that I am requesting she thoroughly reviewed the account before saying it’s correct. I told her I had every documentation from January 2013 including every payment notification and said I have no problem providing her with that information if she needed it to make her life easier. She again said she looked it over thoroughly and we were legitimately charged for February and March. SO I asked her under what contract did I agree to pay for additional months beyond the contract I signed in January of 2013. I asked her to provide me with a contract that shows me signing on to pay for additional months beyond the contract I agreed to in January of 2013. I also told her if she cannot find me that information then she may need to reevaluate the actual contract I signed. After putting me on hold she returned and said I was correct and that it was a different department that messed up. She then said she could call me after the balance has been fixed and zeroed. I told her to fix it and because of their incompetency I need an email confirmation that the balance has been zeroed out since I needed a paper trail for my own protection from Guardian Protection Services. Had I not kept so much documentation they surely would’ve tried to make me pay for additional months beyond my original contract. We called because we needed service. Our keypad let us know which sectioned needed to be looked at. The first apt was suppose to be between 8-12, but he called at 11:45 and said he would be here in an hour. My daughter had a dr apt at 1:00, so that wouldn’t work, so we had to reschedule. I wasn’t happy because I took off. The next apt was scheduled for 12-4, and he called and wanted to show up earlier, which was fun because my husband was home. The service from Alan was great! He was nice and was in and out. We did get a $25 co pay fee waived because of being late last time. We ere not billed anything because it is normal wear and tear. Love that they cover that! Would recommend them because they have always had great service and are reliable when my alarm has gone off.

Because my daughter and son in law had checked out the systems and they were happy using the system. I felt comfortable and they explained everything to me. They answered all my questions and just made me feel real secure so I went with them.

It was recommended by the developers of our community. They’re very responsive and make all the glitches in the system easy to work with. It’s easy to use to understand once you’ve been trained.

I choose Guardian Protection because of the ratings I saw online. They do an excellent job about with customer service. There were some glitches, but they took care of them.

Their customer service is nonexistent. They make no effort to help you with issues and over charge for their actual provided services. In an age where I can really use apps and other technology to provide their same services I made a big mistake in attaching myself to their company.

Had their system for 3 years, never checked the batteries or did any maintenance check ups. Canceled via letter with 30 day notice. Received a letter 45 days later stating that they had been trying to reach us in regards to our cancellation and since they couldn’t they were going to still charge us. I called their customer service line, and was told that they received our letter and that “Nathan” tried to call us 3x’s. The agent gave us the dates and times, however we checked our call history, no calls or voice messages were ever received or left. Since “Nathan” was never able to contact us then our letter was void, and we would have to restart the cancellation notice again.
We found a better security service company, that responds for maintenance calls (i.e. new battery, moving monitors, etc.)—this new company doesn’t charge. They also guarantee a yearly, routine check-up on the system—in that someone actually comes out to the house and checks all the batteries, set-up, connections, etc. Guardian never did this, and if they did would charge for this “service”. Also, this new company has a better cancellation policy that is clearly written in the new contract. 30 day notice via phone call or email.

Our system failed, resulting in Guardian calling the police out to our house while we were out and unable to answer our phone (in a theatre, phone on mute). We were charged penalties for false alarm. For the next 2 plus months, I contacted Guardian several times to repair/replace the defective components to no avail. Their latest excuse for not fixing my system is because the subcontractors they use are not responding to their calls or email messages. I had to hire a caregiver to stay with my 88 year old mother who lives with us, while we went on vacation, because our security system is not working.

I recently posted a review with a rating of 0. The manager from Guardian has called and made things right for my grandmother. I’m giving a 10 to Lorena the manager for her customer service and kindness. But the company over all gets a 5. I dont think that good customer service should come only when they are trying to fix a bad review online.

Guardian protection have a high monthly charge of $51 for their service and an unknown Cancellation Policy. The only thing they tell you about is how long the contract is for, but not the price of cancelling the contract. Very shifty

Please never do business with this unethical scam of a company! We signed up and told them we were renting and they said when we moved they would come and move the equipment over to our new house. Called today to set that up and they said it wasn’t the case. We would need to buy new equipment (current one is less than a year old) and they would charge us over $700. It also costs $750 to get out of their contract, no matter when you cancel. And contracts are 60 months. If you don’t cancel before the 6p months are up, they renew for another 60 months. They are horrible! Please think again! I would never have used them knowing what I know now! Their salesman lied to my face about how a move would be handled

First, the one star is for their business practices. BUYER BEWARE when you sign the contract.

    Story time…

The first house we had them in, everything was free upfront, and we signed a 36 month contract. FREE, everything was FREE!!!! Signed their contract and when we sold our house and moved 33 months later, we wanted to carry their services over to our new rental home. They offered to just charge me an install fee of (around $79 or so) and renew my contract (mind you, I only had a few months left on my first home contract of 36 months) So ok, NP, its a few bucks, just renew and install all new stuff (which THEY RECOMMENDED because they wanted the new resident of my first home to pick up their services). So, no issues thus far into our second home/contract with them.

Well, we have moved again and because we have bought our forever home and we were only at the second residence for 14 months. I call them up to, again to relocate services and I still have 22 months left on my contract, but like last time, I’m just going to renew and sign the contract, pay an install fee and get new equipment again; not much different than the last move, right?? GUESS WHAT MY INSTALL FEE IS NOW??? EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS ($800)!!!!!!!!!! AND THAT’S WITH A 60 MONTH CONTRACT. I didn’t even ask what the 36 month contract cost was.

That’s right, from free, to $79 to $800… I’ll let you decide how you feel about how this played out.
The second home install was so cheap because they knew if they charged me anything ridiculous, I was just going to pay out the monthly monitoring fee of $40 a month, which would have been $120 and PEACE OUT!! Now that I have 22 months left, 22×50 (monthly fee) would be $1100. So, they figure, “We’ll charge him so much because he will either pay the $750 to get out of the contract or the $800 to continue raping him for 5 years” I was absolutely floored when that $ figure came out of the reps mouth. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet, but this had to be said publicly. And my situation is not a unique one either.

This whole operation is a scam. I’ve had the system for almost 2 years and it’s worked about 3 months total. Guardian will try to charge you to come out and fix their faulty equipment, and even charge you to reset your password. Which in my case somehow got erased when they updated their app. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!
