    I did not use Guardian at all. This review is about their aggressive behavior to establish meetings with clients. I tried to cancel a meeting with them and I was told the meeting was necessary before my home could be built, which was not true. They said they needed to establish "standards". My builder said he contacted them to say the meeting was not necessary and would be cancelled. On the day of the "cancelled" meeting I was contacted again by Guardian asking for confirmation for the meeting. They were saying that if I still wanted to cancel, a meeting was still necessary to establish standards before a deadline with the builder was reached. I felt like they were trying to force me into using them. It was super aggressive and I was immediately turned off from them.Read More

    I haven't had too much of a reason to use customer service yet, but they've been nothing but helpful. The sensors are pretty low profile, and it's easy to use. But, make sure you know how much you're paying a month for your services, I was told one thing and got something else.Read More

    The worst company ever. They seem amazing until they reel you in and your stuck. The basic system itself is simple to use and the app is great however the cameras are another story!
    I paid over $500 (with a discount), so not great, for two indoor cameras and an outdoor camera. I can’t even tell you in less than two months time how many times different cameras would go out/stop working for days! I’d call, they’d send a tech which would be late every single time, literally. They get a four hour window for example 12-4pm and I’d be lucky if they showed up by five. And only ONCE did they actually call me to inform me they’d be late. We are talking one out of at least six time.
    I had to take off work and stay home several times to wait for them, they’d show up late, the camera would be fixed for a few days at most then it or another would stop working again. I’m a working mom of three, I need to see my kids are safe while I’m at work and I paid a lot of money to do so!
    Finally I got them to replace one camera that was the biggest issue but after two months of non stop issues I asked them to please just take the cameras a reimbursement me for them. They wouldn’t. All they would offer is to send another tech out to “fix it”. Well we tired that, numerous times! Obviously they’re not able to actually FIX IT.
    Terrible company that can’t stand behind their products. They make you sign a contract, charge you a crazy amount do their equipment that DOESN’T WORK and then you’re stuck with it.
    I haven’t needed them for security purposes so I can’t tell you how their response time is or how well their alarm system works but I can tell you their cameras and camera system are horrible, customer service is a joke, act nice but that’s about it and techs are very late 99% of the time.

    Buyer Beware! The cancellation policy and fees are very misleading. The sales person was obviously very well trained in the art of deception and unfortunately I fell for it hook, line and sinker. Don’t waste your time and a great deal of money with Guardian. In the end, you will be screwed!

    Guardian originally installed their equipment in my Dallas home with no installation or equipment fee; my monthly bill is just over $62.

    Recently, I moved north of Dallas to a new home. The Guardian service agent came over today to evaluate the home for installation; my new home is in an area that Guardian services. We agreed on the the same equipment (two less motion sensors) as the Dallas house.

    Late this afternoon the Guardian Sales rep called to make me an offer – new 5 year contract at $59/month, BUT they want $700 for their equipment! I told the rep to call me back with an offer that did not have any installation or equipment charges, just like my initial installation. If I don’t get a call back, my next call will be to a lawyer.

    Guardian equipment and techs are first class. Their business practices are characterized by deceit and bullying. If it costs me the $1,800 cancellation fee to get out of their clutches, I will do it. The ball is in their court.

    Several weeks ago we had a fire in our kitchen. A pan with grease was left on the stove and caught fire. The Guardian alarm went off and the house quickly filled with black smoke. My husband, Richard was able to get the fire out and we opened all the windows and doors and turned on all ceiling fans. Several times we had to go outback due to the heavy smoke. All the time we are fanning the smoke out and waiting for the fire department to show up. After about 15/20 minuets Richard was able to turn off the alarm by taking out the battery. It took hours for the smoke to clear.
    I called Guardian to see why the service did not work. They agreeded to send a serviceman to see why the alarm did not communicate with the call center. The charge for service was to be $125.00. I was going to cancel due to poor/no service and than they agreed to give us a service call at no charge for being a loyal customer for over 10 years. The serviceman came and reported the problem to be “found that the smoke cap was still installed on the smoke detector “. Today I called to let Guardian to let them know I was not happy to learn I have been paying for a service since 2007 and did not receive service. The representative offered me, if I would consider my service (due to expire May 2019) he would keep the rate the same $26.70 and give us 1 month free service with a 2 year agreement (more free months if I accepted a longer contact. Not happy with this situation.
    P.S. I would also like to add when I signed the new agreement in June 2016 (with a price increase) was due to Guardian calling me and telling me my alarm had to be updated as it was having trouble connecting to Guardian, blaming my telephone provider. Looks like the problem was the cap left on.

    I have had Guardian Protection services for a little over a year. Within the first 3 months of having the system in my house there was an issue with my panel that made it beep continuously every 30 minutes. I ended up having to call and have the rep step by step tell me how to power off my system. The system was OFF for MONTHS. Yet I was still charged the full monthly rate for my system. In order for someone to come “diagnose” the problem, – I was going to be charged a fee. A little ridiculous considering I hadn’t even had it 6 months! The rep recommended that we try replacing a battery that was within the unit. They charged a fee for someone to come replace it for us – or we could attempt to pull it apart and replace it ourselves (which is what we opted for). Regardless, they charged me $35 for the battery and sent it in the mail. (mind you I’ve only had this unit for 3 months and paid well over $700 initially – a battery shouldn’t be dead already if I’m truly being given a “new system” – Their warranty didn’t cover this apparently)

    Fast forward a few months… My system is working fine but I received a call from a competitor that said due to the fact that I’m in law enforcement they offer a pretty significant discount. They quoted me what they would charge me for the exact same services and it was a third of what I’m currently paying Guardian! I called Guardian to see if we could lower the cost at all and was surprised by the fact that I am apparently locked into a 60 month contract that I had no clue about because their sales rep never discussed this with me and their contracts are less than transparent! In order for me to cancel services with them I would have to pay over $800 as a termination fee. They also said they can’t lower the price while you’re in your first term (mine being 60 months) – so you’re stuck paying significantly more than you would if you were with their competitors instead!

    Please do your research – I wish I did! There are FAR more negative reviews regarding this company than there is positive. Now I’m stuck with a company that provided me with poor equipment quality – horrible customer service – and a bill three times what it should be!

    They were fine until I went to cancel service and found out I was “auto-renewed” for another 5 year contract. Apparently it’s in the fine print. Watch out for them. I would recommend someone else who does not “auto-renew”. Then they sold my service to someone else and now I am suck with an alarm system for the next 2 years that cannot use. Thanks a lot Guardian for wasting my money.

    cancelled service in May 2018 over the phone – they did not honor this disconnect even though I no longer had a land line. They could not monitor my system. I had a direct checking deduction. They continued to deduct June and July and then kept on billing me until September. My contract was for 3 years that was started in September 2013. I canceled the policy in 2018. They did not tell me at the time I called to disconnect that they would not honor it. They failed to tell me it had to be in writing. Now they are threatening me with a collection agency because I refuse to pay for a service that they could not provide with no phone connection. Also they did not provide any security for your windows. Someone could actually get into your house without you knowing it. They could shoot you before the motion detector would even go off. so you are not really protected. They are only there for the money. Also they raised by rates without notifying me and was directly taking more out of my checking account. I would not recommend them to guard a dog house. They are dishonest company.

    Claims they have Nationwide service but not in a major city like Denver. 36 month policy is unheard of and make you pay a cancellation fee. Customer service is very rude and I would never recommend them to anyone.

    Guardian is horrible. They send these salesmen to your door to try and sell you there service. Everything is electronically signed and they don’t mention at all a 5 year contract. It’s hard to read and I believe this should be illegal. $1850 cancellation fee if you break it. Unbelievable.
    Never again!!! Don’t do it. You will regret it.

    Was pressured to get guardian upon building my new home and signed up for 3 years with a month to month renewal there after.
    After the initial 3 years my price went from $39 a month to $53 a month with no new contract or real notice. I called to cancel my services since am moving and was told I am now on a 60 month contract and must pay over $1k to disconnect. This is even if I don’t live in the home or own it; they’re forcing me to pay for the service for another year for whoever buys my house, install a system in a rental property I move to, or pay them $1300! This is ridiculous especially when I never use the system!!!

    Called in June of 2017 to cancel, they said contract was still valid until Nov of 2017 so I waited. Then they sold my contract to brink with a new 5 year contract. Guardian does not have my old contract they said it was sent to brink, and brink says guardian should have it. So now I’m just looking through the internet to see if there is a class action lawsuits I can jump in to get some of my money back.

    HORRIBLE!!!! They are a scam! Buyer beware! Don’t use guardian!!! They will sell you a system that becomes outdated within your 5 year contract. They will then say you need to update your system and sneak in a new 5 year contract! Then they will say that your contract doesn’t actually begin until they installed it, which could be months later. Beware of them using an electronic signature and acting like you agreed to it. When I told the rep (Steve) that it wasn’t my signature, he actually told me to contact the local authorities and file a complaint! Like seriously! Then I still had to pay a buyout for an outdated system that they told me I could keep! Sick to my stomach over this and in the end, I just wanted to get out of dealing with them. Poor customer service and even worse business practices. The games they play to make a buck. I would never go through this company again.

    I use it regularly as far as I can tell it all works, I do get a daily email from Guardian notifying me of the status of system and one time I was actually doing a test case on it and didn’t turn it off right away and they called to make sure I was okay so it gave me a clue that the system was working just fine, so I think the equipment is good. No issue with it at all. I’m really not sure its worth as much as I pay for to me you know I don’t think its over priced or anything like that, the only reason I put it in is because I wanted to have it when I first moved in and so I’m not sure I’m going to continue it because I really don’t know for sure if I value it that much.

    When I have questions or issues I just call the support phone number and usually they help me. Nobody is rude, some companies tend to be rude sometimes but I never get this from Guardian Protection. They have a Spanish line which I love. I also speak English but its easier for me explain something in Spanish, so they have you know customer support in Spanish which is amazing and I love it, I love it. So far I never had any issues. As far as the equipment, I never have to replace anything actually. Only one time I had an issue with my mobile app but they came and fixed it, they were very inexpensive and the person who visit was very nice and it was fast.

    Terrible company. Total rip off. Doorbell camera installed in April 2018. Has not worked properly since installation. The tecninicians do not know how to install anything without having to call in to the 1 800 number. To make a long story short in my opinion just go with another company. Worst I have ever dealt with

    They bought out my contract from Monitronics & automatically renewed my contract 36 months. I am trying to cancel with about 12 months to go & they want to charge an extra $1,000 or keep paying my monthly bill. TOTAL RIPOFF!!! Don’t go with them!!!!!!

    I got Guardian Jan 2017. We were told it was a 2 year contract little an behold it was 60 months.. we got through that shock, well we ended up moving, we were told you have to take it with you, or $750.00 cancellation fee. So we take it with. $145.00 transfer fee. Dealt with that. I asked several times dose it start the contract over, “no mam “is what I was told several times ,,, I was lied to. Started the contract all over again ,!!!! I pay $51.95 a month and I didn’t get the same system in our new home! I was told that cost more money ! But I’m still paying $51.95 for something I don’t have with our system anymore. PLUS We Had our arlarm go off Saturday Night Due To The Door System Falling Off Because it’s on stickers NOT screwed into the wood. Not Only That, I Have A Wall That’s Not Fixed All The Way Do To A Hole That Was Put In By The Installer. Supposed To Be Fixed Today, We Shall See.. Now I’m In The Process of looking for a Lawyer. I could Never Work For A Company That Has To Lie To There Customers. VERY UPSET CUSTOMERS.

    My husband and I wanted a system for the amount of time we were going to be in texas. We were told that we could easily cancel with military orders, and now they want to say that we cannot if we aren’t selling our home. The representative should have stated that in the first place, but of course they don’t to make a sale. Besides them not telling you everything that could prevent us from canceling, the customer service from the representative is ridiculously terrible. I am obviously aggravated by all the excuses and Kim decides to give great customer service with some attitude. If you’re looking to start a contact with them, make sure you ask every question possible and that comes to mind, because they it’s very clear that they need more training. Bottom line, we will never work with them again once we get rid of them, that’s for sure.

    The sales person was a layer,
    The worst customer service,
    No warranty of service, you pay a service but if it breaks you pay out of your pocket, incidents happens they don’t even know, they don’t get in contact with you, they don’t call to see if everything is ok,
    They take money out of your account with no authorization.
    They sold my account to different company.
    I am very unhappy with this guardian company, I wish I can cancel the contract with this company this company is stealing money, very unsatusfie with the service.

    Watch out for this company. Contract is for 60 mo. and if you do not send a written notice to cancel 60 days in advance they will try to charge you another year or more. They are rip of artist do not trust. The service is also very bad they will not call for alarms 50 percent of the times. They want the payment but do not want to service.

    Guardian protection does not value their customers. I have been with them 4 for years. I was recently informed by Brinks that my account was transferred to them. I received no notification from Guardian Protection about this transfer. I am now under obligation with a company I never had an opportunity to agree to being serviced by. Very poor communication and customer service skills with Guardian protection.

    Absolutely the worst customer service of any company. They are attempting to charge us $1100 for cancelling service when we cant take it to the new house and are moving. They are calling it an equipment fee since the equipment is cheaper when you have the contract. This is absurd for us since we have been with them for 4 years. Just avoid them and head to Brinks or use the new nest system which is fantastic.

    As stated above their camera functionality is extremely weak. Been disputing with them for over a year with no resolution. Excuses and more excuses. There resolution was to send us to collections and disconnect service will we were in their so called dispute action. So I pay balance so it doesn’t effect my credit and services has still not been resolved. By the way I have been a Guardian customer for 18years though 3 moves. Can you say ” when does contract end”?

    This has been the absolute worst. We bought our house in July 2015 got our system in September. Before a year went by got a call and was told our cameras were not working? Sounds a little strange to me? And it would cost us to fix them. First off the cameras haven’t been touched by anyone since they were put up so we couldn’t have broken them. Neededless to say I didn’t like the situation and toon the all down. After 2 years I went to cancel, then was told that I was in a 3 year contract. We have had alarms go off for no reason causing charges for police calls. I asked about the cancellation fee it’s more than my monthly fee over my contract. This company is rediculous. I finally just unplugged my system and stopped my auto draft. Now when my contract is up next month I’m so done.

    I think I saw an advertisement and went with it. Some of their technicians don’t know how to install things. My equipment goes off constantly during the week.

    They were partners with the home builder, so it came with our home. Their price is good and I like that they do stuff pre-billed. I haven’t dealt with them directly, only with their installers and their sales team. I had no issues with any of them though, they have been great. If they made a mistake, they would fix it quickly. They seem very knowledgeable. The equipment is great, but they only give you a very small network box for all their network stuff and you immediately have to open it and let stuff hang off of it. It’s not big enough for all the things they give you.
