I did not use Guardian at all. This review is about their aggressive behavior to establish meetings with clients. I tried to cancel a meeting with them and I was told the meeting was necessary before my home could be built, which was not true. They said they needed to establish "standards". My builder said he contacted them to say the meeting was not necessary and would be cancelled. On the day of the "cancelled" meeting I was contacted again by Guardian asking for confirmation for the meeting. They were saying that if I still wanted to cancel, a meeting was still necessary to establish standards before a deadline with the builder was reached. I felt like they were trying to force me into using them. It was super aggressive and I was immediately turned off from them.Read More

I haven't had too much of a reason to use customer service yet, but they've been nothing but helpful. The sensors are pretty low profile, and it's easy to use. But, make sure you know how much you're paying a month for your services, I was told one thing and got something else.Read More

The Good

  • Special Pricing for besthomesecuritycompanys.com Visitors
  • Superior Home Security Features
  • Cellular Monitoring
  • Home Automation Options Available
  • Guaranteed Rate-Fix with 60-Month Contract

Guardian Protection provides home security systems that easily compete with some of the top security companies in the industry. The alarm company offers three separate home security packages with 24/7 professional monitoring to fit a variety of budgets and homes.

  1. Edge Essential – Includes a central touchscreen control keypad in-home monitoring station, window/door sensors, and motion sensors.
  2. Edge Control – Includes all features of the Essential package plus the customers choice of one home automation device.
  3. Edge Premium – The most complete home security system with home automation. Includes all features of the other packages, the choice of one home automation device, plus two indoor Wi-Fi security cameras with night vision.

Unlike some companies, Guardian Protection also offers a number of home automation features, branded as Guardian Edge. They allow users to control their security system remotely and prevent false alarms. Home automation comes standard on all but Guardian Protection’s most basic service and gives customers the freedom to control security features, climate control, and light fixtures all from Guardian Protection’s useful mobile app.

Consumers may choose from smart door locks, thermostats, light modules, or garage door switches for home automation.

In addition to the landline monitoring services found in most home security systems, Guardian Protection also provides backup cellular monitoring services in the event that your electricity goes out. Guardian Protection also employs Smash-and-Crash technology to ensure homes remain protected even when the system is tampered with or destroyed. The GE Simon XT control panel can let homeowners know whether window sensors or door sensors were activated and when. A customer will also have the option of Guardian’s two-way voice feature, a hands-free emergency calling feature that lets you speak directly to a Guardian monitoring center operator from anywhere in the room when an alarm is triggered.

Guardian Protection provides a “Family of Guarantees”. With the Best Price Guarantee, Guardian Protection Services will “match any comparable written quote or qualified internet offer for installation and activation of a base home security system.” The theft protection guarantee states the company will give you up to $500 toward your insurance deductible if your home is burglarized while being monitored by their system. Charging customers a fixed rate for such a long time is also something that sets Guardian Protection apart. Additionally, Guardian does have a fairly unique feature in its cancellation policy that allows customers to keep their home security equipment even after they have canceled their contract.

Every home security system sold by Guardian Protection Services is custom-designed and professionally installed. Guardian Protection offers a wide variety of equipment so you can tailor your system to include a sensor and control for your garage door or video surveillance in your backyard.

Guardian Protection also offers special pricing for besthomesecuritycompanys.com visitors. To receive this special offer, visit the Guardian Protection website through one of the links featured on this page.

The Bad

  • More Expensive System
  • Unknown Cancellation Policy
  • Poor Online Transparency
  • Limited Availability

Guardian Protection boasts high-end, cutting-edge technology and equipment, including motion detectors, window sensors, video surveillance, smoke detectors, and the aforementioned control panel that allows for two-way communication. However, customers may find themselves paying a bit more for Guardian Protection’s equipment and protection plan than they would with other industry leaders. Repair fees outside of Guardian Protection Service’s extensive warranty can also be quite costly.

There appears to be some confusion with regard to specifics surrounding Guardian Protection’s advertised contract lengths and cancellation policy. This confusion is due in large part to Guardian Protection’s poor online transparency as well as its method of contract delivery. The Guardian Protection website proffers little useful contract information regarding policies, terms and conditions, and exclusions. Customers are largely at the mercy of the terms of the actual contract, which is delivered in an electronic format. Several customers have complained that these contracts are not only difficult to read but can also sometimes be inaccurate.

Guardian Protection is not a nationwide home security, burglar alarm provider, and the following 16 states are the only that they service: Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.. While Guardian Protection still manages to service most of the country, other top home security companies have true nationwide threat protection.

The Bottom Line

Guardian Protection is a top performer in the home security industry. The company employs the latest technology with its high-end equipment and provides flexible pricing options that fit most budgets. Guardian Protection also provides some unique features, such as a fixed-rate 60-month contract that set it apart from the competition; however, customers should also be aware that Guardian Protection does not service every state, and unless they read the fine print of the contract they could be paying more than they expected for Guardian Protection services.

We’ve had this service forever it seems…can’t wait til contract is up!!! Horrible customer service. My service goes in and out all the time. Cameras and Notifications are SLLLOOOOWWWW and I have the fastest internet speed Xfinity offers! DO NOT touch my doorbell, it takes everything offline. We hardly EVER get notifications sent to our phone when we are out of town. I am so disgruntled with this service and we are literally STUCK in this contract for yet another year. When people ask me what service we have, I ALWAYS tell them DO NOT USE GUARDIAN!!!

I regret very much that I signed up for 60 months of this shiny, over expensive service, that starts to break too early. I called in to cancel, my cancellation fee, after 31 months would be over 1K(!!!!). A business should know that a dissatisfied customer that is made to continue to pay for mostly unused services is NEVER going to go back.
My camera never worked properly, it kept going down, until it didn’t work anymore. After going through troubleshooting and resetting way too many times, I canceled it out of the account and oh, guess what? I save $5 dollars!!! The lock – ridiculous lock, by the way – how hard is it to guess a 4 digit code, with a 5-button lock? stopped working after the second change of batteries. Would I pay for a new one? Not provided by them and oh, now I save $3 dollars!!!
Not worth your money, look for other service providers.

Don’t sign up with them! They will nickel & dime you for everything! Even now, I get an e-bill from my bank, which means they DO NOT send me a paper bill, but they insist on charging me a 2.00/mo paper bill fee because I won’t sign up for their auto bill pay service!
In addition, they put this nice Z=Wave device in my home, and won’t give me any of the passwords so that I can add my own devices to it like my garage Door, etc. They want to charge like 25.00 any time you need to add anything to this hub. So, consequently, it’s useless to me. It is pretty to look at but I bought a Samsung Smartthings hub that I can manage myself. STAY AWAY!

Fine print in contract not disclosed at signing states a 24hr back out. Servicing can be one month out; seller qouted 1-2 days for service. Home panel set off alert from dog bark, door came alerts with passing trucks, smoke alarm loose signature during the day, and enter alarm misfired without deley when set on 60 sec delay. Too many disturbances in a few months.maureen C.

I bought a new house where the developer had used Guardian. I called Guardian and wanted to upgrade and transfer the service, also there was a problem with the original system and a door sensor that kept triggering the alarm. I talked to the salesperson and upgraded to include window sensors, which she said were free due to the upgrade and a 60 month contract. I also agreed to purchase their newest and best control panel, smoke alarm monitoring and 2 cameras. My service person arrived 3 hours late. What was supposed to be a 4 hour service call became 6 hours. They did not have the ticket correct from the sales person and I was told I did not have any window sensors. They then got me on the phone with another sale person and I was told that O needed to pay $350 more. I also was assured that the prior problem about the door sensor was resolved by the upgraded panel. Also, I now have extra holes in my house because the technician had trouble installing the camera. Btw, I went to inspect the camera and caught him before he pulled away to ask why I had new holes in my house siding. It has been a horrible experience to have laid out an extra $1000, plus a 60 month contract. Security companies are many and I cannot recommend Guardian.

The offer that we got from them was very good, especially compared to what we got from other security systems. We also felt very comfortable with the salesman that we spoke with, so we got it. We’ve had a couple of calls with them and they were very understanding of some mistakes that we made with the system. They were very helpful and patient when talking us through the solution. Their equipment is very good. We had an incident and within a matter of minutes, the police department was here.

They were the company that our home builder contacted to provide us with home protection services. The people that came to install our service were very engaging, personable, and easy to communicate with. They have responded timely whenever we need them. I had some problems with a couple of speakers that were installed. It was part of the home protection equipment that we got and it seemed that they were not receiving enough voltage to work. It’s all working now though.

Somebody recommended it to me. They are easy to contact and helpful with everything. The only problem is that, in order for them to solve my problem, I have to wait and, while I wait, I still get charged for the service. It doesn’t matter if they do a bad job, I continuously get charged. I’m not really happy with that.

I’ve had it since back in the 80’s. We had a robbery in our home at the time and after that we somehow got a hold of their name and went with it. I’ve been with them ever since. I’ve always had good service from them and had no problems with it. At this time though I would like to discontinue the service. It has gotten quite expensive and, in all sincerity, I don’t really use it for anything other than fire protection. It’s like insurance. You don’t need to use it, it’s there, but it’s very expensive.

The previous owners of the house had this and they were very happy with it, so we decided to keep it after buying it. They have been very responsive and easy to deal with. So far they have been able to solve all of our problems very easily. The equipment has been very easy to use too. It’s all wireless technology, which is nice. I have remote access to it from my phone, so I can set and use the alarm system from there and automate things like the thermostat temperature. It all works well and it’s also reasonably priced.

Poor alarm company. When I moved into my house, I had to use an antiquated panel because they couldn’t handle wired sensors with the new fancy panels. Door disconnects from the alarm system several times a day. A tech has “re-tuned” the wireless sensor, several times. Whatever that means. Never helped. If you want to add any sensors or cameras etc, it costs you both time and money. If you add a new home automation device, you have to go buy the device, and then pay them to come and put it on the network. The 5 year contract is a complete scam. Especially with technology moving as fast as it is. I have old equipment that constantly disconnects and there is nothing they can do. 1.5 years left on my contract means I owe $900 for the remainder of my contract. However if I terminate early, I will over over $1200? That is the definition of a company that is all about money. I didn’t even want the system to begin with but was pressured to buy during the building of our house by not only the salesman but two higher ups in the company that just happened to be passing through that day. Worst Mistake ever.
I got a call shortly after a another review and they graciously said they would disconnect me for $900. Really, that is just what I owe for the next year and a half! They care more about their money than their customers or reputation, evidently.

Honestly, this company is criminal. Long story short – we moved into a new home, they lured us into a long contract because that was the only way that we could get a decent deal… then when we moved into our new home their security system was incompatible with the automation system our builder installed. We tried everything – they even charged us for special “chips” that they said would work, nothing worked. We went weeks with no alarm system and no solutions. Finally we told them we wanted out of our contract since they literally could not provide us service and received no response. But they stopped charing our account for 9 months. Then all of the sudden in February of this year they decided to just start charging us again. No word from them, just started charging. They are offering us no service and no solutions and refuse to cancel our contract or stop charging for services they CANNOT provide for us. Criminals. Do not do business with Guardian.

If your house has NO insulation or if you have window that sweat a lot DO NOT buy this product.
Why? because the sensors go crazy. You will get calls at ALL HOURS of the DAY. Even at 1am in the Morning. The company will lock in for 3 or 4 years with a penalty / fine.
I called them after 2 years of driving me CRAZY with the calls, alerts.
The response was they can BI-pass all the alerts and make sure I get no calls.
They refused OUTRIGHT to disconnect my service without paying the penalty.
They REFUSED to send someone to my home every 3 months to change all the sensors WITHOUT trip charge. Every time they send someone to your home they charge a hefty fee.
    NOT worth, purchasing this product.

Our builder had Guardian as the preferred vendor for security systems. We have since spoken with Bloomfield and begged for them not to set anyone else up or the disappointment of their lives. First, you are locked into a contract, and they will not budge to let you out, even if you, like us, have called for some type of issue 32 times in 2.5 years. Second, the technicians usually are overbooked, and usually, do not come with the necessary equipment to perform prepares. 8 of our 32 calls involved fixing two separate issues. It took the technicans a minimum of 3 visits to resolve an issue. It was so sad: the technicans would how up expecting a surprise since the customer service reps did not document the need correctly, so they did not have the right equipment. I would let the technicans off the hook, but if you work for a few months and the same issue occurs, you may want to fill your truck up with everything. Third, their agreement with Alarms.com is just awful. Our system is frequently unavailable. I have 100mbps down and 35mbps up, which are 3x the requirement, and we can try to load a video, go fix a sandwhich, and return before the video is ready to play. Fourth, how are you going to try to charge me for something you broke? Things are so bad that my wife and I are seriously considering just paying the $200 early cancellation fee just to feel safe. This is the worse experience I have ever had, including worse than AT&T and Sprint mobile services combined.

This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with in my life. First off, I signed a contract for 3 years. I specifically asked for only a 3 year contract. At 3 years I went to cancel my service and they said my contract was for 5 years. Now it was my fault,I should have not trusted the company that is going to provide security for my house and really read the contract, but who expects to be duped by the very company that is supposed to be protecting you. Next, I went to change my service and add cell phone notification rather than regular telephone and I was shocked to learn that I would need to increase my contract by 3 more years to do so. I declined, needless to say and I am just waiting for the few months I have left on my contract to find an honest and reliable customer friendly company.

After having service since 2015, I felt like I no longer needed the service since the reason I got it was a teenager who would runaway left the house permanently. After trying to cancel, was told I’m under contract for 2 more years! If you look at the reviews posted, everyone believed they were only under a three year contract, not 5 years! Are we all wrong in what we were told? I don’t think so!! I will be sure to spread the word far and wide about this false information!

They were the provider that our builder recommended. They’ve always been helpful. Whenever I call with questions they answered them very clearly. I’ve never had an issue with them. The equipment seems to be pretty updated, I actually got a new system fairly recently. It was definitely an upgrade to the original equipment from 5 years ago. The person that came out to install it was very helpful and personable. He did a great job of answering my questions, explaining the system to me, and getting it all setup. The only thing is that the whole thing is a little pricey. I know that other people pay quite a bit less per month than what I do. They have worked with me in the past and reduced my bill by about $5, but it’s still more pricey than some of the other systems I’m aware of.

My real estate agent recommended this company when I bought my house. Whenever I call, there’s always someone available and they always seem genuine in trying to help me. I’ve had one problem though. They installed the equipment in November and 2 out of the 3 sensors that we have are not sensitive enough to pick up on sudden movement. Basically, they don’t work. I’ve been trying to schedule an appointment for them to come and fix that but it’s taking them months to come here. They’re not going to come until January to fix the sensor.

The word contract was not even mentioned when this system was purchased or installed. was told by the installer our signature was needed to state the installation was completed satisfactory. I was shocked when I found out it was for a FIVE year contract. This is dirty business!

Zero stars. Company is an absolute scam. After you have met your contract, they enable a flaw in your panel to start beeping uncontrollably. When you call them to come fix it, they tell you your panel needs technical updates and they need to come out to fix it. When you sign the paperwork for them to come repair it, you dont realize they tricked you into another three year contract. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GUARDIAN!!!

This company does a horrible job at upholding their “trusted guarantee”. The have foolish policies that restrict them from repairing certain tears or rips. This was truly a waste of my time and hard earned money. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PROTECTION INSURANCE!

What a terrible company. You have to jump through hoops to cancel. They made me writer letter to them to cancel and then once I wrote the letter I had to call them up to really cancel. Stay away from them!

I would never recommend this service to anyone, the sales tactics are cruel and borderline illegal. I built a house and this was the only alarm system the builder used / recommended. I was coerced into signing a long term contract with the company at the time of the sale of my new house. I am currently paying 45 dollars per month for merely the smoke alarms, co2 monitor, and door chimes. Compared to other products the cost is absurd the monthly cost is double what Vivint charges with home cameras. I called to ask for the cameras only to be told it would cost 1500 dollars or another 60 month agreement at 55 dollars per month. At this time I am going to research the legality of the sales techniques and potentially review for a lawsuit. I would never recommend this company to anyone and would strongly deter anyone from purchasing any product from this company because of the slow response, the expense compared to other systems, and worse the termination fees are horrible they wanted over 1000 dollars to get out of a contract. Please Run away from this company now.

$1,227 fee PLUS 20% of the remaining 3 years. I’ve had them for three years already and just want out. What a rip off.

“The two eyes of Guardian Protection”
I have been renting a house that had an existing Guardian Protection package already installed. The homeowner (landlord) pays the monthly service bill and has a limited service contract on the equipment. The two eyes of Guardian are IGNORANCE! and INCOMPETENCE! Recently the existing control panel has been wearing out (3 to 4 years old) as the back lit display is getting very dim and hard to read. No brightness control on this model. Even with the lights in the room on you still can’t make out all the readouts. I’m a retired 65 year old and wear glasses so it’s even worse for me to try and make out the display. I called Guardian for a home service call as I pay the monthly service taken over from the owner as long as I live in the house. I had requested a different control panel from the one already here: Simon XT to a Simon XTi which has a larger display (easier to read) and has a sleep mode (saves power and LEDS). Guardian took forever to respond and sent a technician out the next day which I thought was quite fast as I requested a new panel. The reps on the phone stated the techs carry parts on their trucks and should have what I needed with them. The tech arrived late and did not have any replacement parts with him. He stated the work order says the keyboard was not responding which was wrong! He checked the panel out anyway and said it’s working properly but yes the display is dim. He charged me 25.00 for his service call which I believe was unwarranted. Next day, called Guardian back and they said they got the complaint wrong and I would not be charged but 25.00 carried over to the upgrade when he comes out next time with the correct parts. Since then, I have called to verify how much the upgrade to the new panel would cost as I’m on a limited income and retired but keep getting the run around with “they don’t know yet as they have to order the panel and their not sure which one is coming in”. I have specified each time I have called them which panel I’m interested in getting: Simon XTi, but days later, I still have no answers from them. All I know is they say they have ordered the panel and will call me when the service tech receives it to come to my house to install it. I have during this time researched the control panel I want and can purchase it on line myself at a discount but they claim they will not service or warranty it that way unless I buy it from them. What a ripoff! Looks as if they want to charge me and arm and leg for their version which is the same one I can buy online for about one third the price. They are now supposed to call me on Wednesday with a definite price breakdown so I know exactly what things will cost but if I don’t hear from them soon, I will just cancel the whole thing and not even use the existing control panel in the house. I’m unable to read it that well so why use it? I really think I don’t need to use their protection as I have 24HR surveillance cameras around the house now recording any movement as well as renter’s insurance through State-Farm. Guardian needs to get their act together and their facts straight when it comes to informing their customers of upcoming charges and upgrade costs. They also need to educate their customer service phone people about their product lines and all features so when a customer calls, they get the same story from every customer service agent, not different stories every time one calls as I have gotten. I am very frustrated at this point and am ready to just shut off the control panel and live without it or their protection. Too much drama and hassle for me! I have my cameras and insurance to fall back on if anything occurs. A dis-satisfied Guardian Protection customer….

They do not clearly explain contract terms and cancellation polices. If your account is deactivated they send you another contract to sign as if you have a choice as to whether you sign it or not to continue services. I did not sign it and the next contact I got was a collection notice for guardian Protection Services. I then found out it was because I still had a year on the contract. This was not stated in the email and I never received a written letter or telephone call. BEWARE!!!!! Do not put yourself in a situation with a company that is not transparent about their policies. What are they trying to hide that they can’t be clear in their communications.

I went with them since I had been looking to put cameras in my home and they had that. They’ve made sure that everything was completed and that I had the WiFi and Internet connected correctly and everything. Everything is good and works well, plus the people have been very friendly and have the right personality.
