Guardian Protection is terrible. Their equipment is not reliable and malfunctions, and when it does their phone tech support cannot figure out what is going on. The only answer is to replace the batteries, even when you have already done it that same day. They tell you they will fix things remotely or silence continued beeping because of malfunctions remotely, but you still get woken up in the middle of the night from the beeping. Then they want to charge you a fee to come out and fix their broken equipment, When you talk to their "loyalty department" (aka hostage department) they are happy to remind you that any early termination fee will cost you $1250 and don't seem to care if you leave. So, I am sitting and waiting for a service call with part of my system not working. But there is no talk of a discount or credit, no attempt to speed up the service call, no one seems to care. All around a very poor experience. My recommendation: Do not use Guardian Protection.

I have been a customer with guardian for close to 20 years and loyal. But now i see how loyal the are to me. As of right now they have not monitor my service and request payment.. I had a conversation with one of they"er service agents who rude and informed me that they will continue to bill me without any monitoring and I asked him twice and his response was yes we will continue to bill you..!!. Is this how they treat loyal customers.

I have had nothing but issues since I had cameras installed with guardian,when I call for service my appointment isn't for a week later I have been without my cameras now for 4 way,$1,000 to break my contract gtfo, this is the last time I will call for a tecnichian to come out I will break my contract so many problems

Disgusting crooks. Sold my 87 year old father a 5 year contract. He had to be moved into assisted living within a year and they said he had to pay out the remaining 50 months with no consideration of the circumstances. They should be reported to the better business bureau as well as law enforcement

I woyld not recommend guardian to anyone. They are so unprofessional!! The were supposed to come to my house to twice to set up cameras but never showed uo or called. We went 3 months with no security because we were dealing with them. The general manager(greg) in Indianapolis is the worst. He was so unhelpful and rude. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE GUARDIAN!!!

I moved into a new how and opted to pay 199 for new system install, rather than ripping out my old one. Worst mistake ever I assumed that I was going to be getting the security I had at my other house here. That's not the truth I didn't get anything that I had over there and the man I spoke with in the customer service made me feel like an idiot because I don't answer my phone during the day..... news flash some people work nights. He basically said there is not much that can be done and that I can purchase the extras. When I said what's the cost to cancel he said 750. Like they could careless to keep a customer.

This company is horrible!!!! I'm nearing the end of my contract with them and according to their contract it says the request should be in writing 30 days prior to cancellation. First of all, I'm not sure how 3 additional weeks were added to the end of my contract from what should be Aug 22nd to Sep 13th, but ok get paid 1 more month. Now I'm told I need to call again, and send in writing to cancel. why can't you just document that I called and when you get my written request to cancel, do that and STOP CHARGING my account!!! If you can find another company to do your security, do that. I had them because the house I bought already had the security equipment already in the home. I hate their service, and know it will be a headache getting this contract done even though they've got 5 years out of me!!

I had my dream house build and Guardian was the security provider. They installed the hardware and then left. After several calls to them they kept saying someone would call to make an appointment to finish the installation. After 4 months I decided to go with another Security system, due to no follow-up from installers. The system is still not installed fully and they keep sending bills for service. Talk about a backwards company. Save your money and frustration call another security provider

Their salesmen are complete frauds they tell you that there is no installation fee and the next month i receive a bill for $2400 for installation fees they tell you the price is $59 a month when you get your bill it's $71 a month overall I'm not happy with the system the cameras are down and It hasn't even been three months yet if I could do it all over again I would never spoken to the salesman .

Ok, I have been int he security industry since high school. I joined the Marines out of high school, then worked as an Overseas Security Contractor. I decided I wanted to spend more time at home so started doing executive protection here in the states and now I am in the Security and Home Automation business. So I have been in the security field for many years. I DO NOT WORK FOR GUARDIAN! Let me say that up front. I am with a competitor. I look at reviews all the time and this site seems to have a lot of negatives about them. I will say this. I see a LOT of complaints are about cancellations. Listen, you know you are signing a 36/60 month contract. If you buy a car and take out a 60 month loan, if you lose your job or have problems. You can't just say,"OK, I don't want it anymore." What people don't realize is that you are getting this equipment up front. Several hundred dollars worth and even in the thousands of dollars on some systems. There is the salespersons commission and the installer gets paid too. You can't expect a company to eat that money just because you decide you don't want to pay anymore. I see it all the time. Someone wants the system and then get short on cash. So to save money, they would rather cancel something that can save their life or their home. Instead of cancelling their cable television or not going out to dinner one less time a month. As for their service, I know people that have it and love it. I can't say I know anyone that doesn't like it. With that said, I have heard a few complaints about installation problems before. I think those we sub contractors though. Anyway, I just wanted to get that off my chest. Stop complaining about cancellation fees and fulfill your obligation!

I was told this is a good alarm system, and it could be, but unfortunately since weve had this system we have had many problems. The system was purchased in March 2017 and we have been dissatisfied every since then. It's been something every week.. it takes several days before they can send a technician out, so pray nothing happens until then...also the only way to get out of contract is to pay 1000....that's unbelievable when it's not even working....we've had the system for one month and want OUT!!!!

I was using ADT for my small business and had no problems. I moved my business to a new, nearby location and the salesperson who got me hooked up with ADT strongly recommended that I go with Guardian. So I made the switch because I foolishly trusted him, and was never told about the cancellation policy. 18 months later, I had to close my business due to circumstances outside of my control. Guardian will not let me out of my contract and is charging me for 18 MONTHS of service that I will not be using!!! I can't find the salesperson who got me into this mess, either. Don't get involved with this company. I wish I had never switched from ADT. They were great to work with.

I gave a rating of 9 because I doubt any company is 100% perfect. I just read other reviews here and suspect some were written by competing companies trying to make Guardian look bad. Plus, there are some general misunderstandings. Firstly, Guardian does not sell anyone anything. They are the monitoring company and sales are done by various dealers who handle sales, installation, and service. Some of these companies may be more honest and reliable than some others. Besides that, all of these dealers have subdealers who just do sales and not every salesperson is honest. I can tell you that Guardian has strict rules for these dealers and only when everything passes their requirements is a customer agreement accepted. Every agreement has it plainly stated whether it's a 36 month or 60 month agreement and this is verified and initialed by the customer. You may call me biased but I've worked for a number of security companies and Guardian does it right. I do both sales and installations for Skyline Security which is a dealer for Guardian and I can tell you that when a system has a problem, I am required to make it right. Oh, and I see something above about Guardian not covering Washington state. Baloney. I don't know about some other states listed but Guardian has many hundreds of happy customers in WA. Who runs this website? ADT or Monitronics?? Maybe some of the info is just very old but the false negatives are really appalling. A few complaints may be legitimate but I think most are fabricated.

Was told when they installed my system I could call and cancel whenever I wanted as long as I gave a ahead of time notice. Turns out that was bull. Called to cancel and they said I would have to pay 3000 to cancel. I had my whole family here  people when I had it installed and everyone heard the same thing as I. As soon as I have this thing paid for it will be canceled

We started out with Monitronics and had no problems. But then these "guys" come calling and saying they are taking over Monitronics accounts. I wish I had been home alone, they would have never got through the door, however, my husband did and he was the one who agreed to the change. Terrible service, alarms going off for no reason, had to come out to replace smoke alarm three times. Everytime we set alarm when we left the house, we got a call from them saying ...there was this code or that code. Now we are moving and stuck w/stupid contract for 2 more years. Monitronics was so much better. Bad mistake.

Worst people that I have ever had the unfortunate opportunity to do business with. Pushy sales people, rude customer service, hidden fees that nickel and dime you as much as possible, and terrible technical support/website. I was happy with my ADT but a pushy sales man promised me things that they will never deliver on. If you can never do business with this company, use someone that actually cares about their customers. (I still have parts that they have failed to connect properly.)

I had a bad experience with Guardian Protection as well, and true to form they installed a security system in my home as well which did not do what was expected and when they were called out to correct the problem I was also charged a fee. This system was not in my home 24 hours, and when they could not fix the problem i requested a refund. And I was told by them that I purchased the system and they refused to return my money. I had to have the system removed and I was charged another fee to have someone reputable to come out installed a system that would work and provided for me and my family the protection i needed and could not get from Guardian Protection. Nathan D., I have been a customer at Guardian Protection Services since 2003 (14 years) and everything was going okay. But then I upgraded with the camera (1). I spoke with them over the phone and was told this would extend my contract for 1 year, I was okay with that considering the fact that I had been with them for 14 years (I had no intentions of leaving). My monthly fee was also going to increase from $35 to $45, which was explained and okay. Once they came out and installed the camera it was not working properly. (Not picking up any humans just car lights only) so we reset it numerous times as instructed but it still did not work. We called for them to come out, they came out but the camera still never worked. So I called to have them return the camera because it does not work properly and was told, that was impossible and I owe them $350 for the camera and $195 for the repair call for a total of $545 plus the $45 monthly fee we pay for a camera that does not work. I then call to cancel the contract and was told I was under a 3 year contract (when initially I was told 1 year) and it would be over $2000 to cancel. I explained I've been a loyal customer for 14 years but that didn't really matter to them. Nathan D is their liaison for complaints and he really does not try to help. He gave the $195 credit for the service call (which I should have never been charged) but would not take back the camera that has never worked and is still charging me $350 and monthly fee for the camera monitoring service which doesn't work. But he said they will come out again for a fee. Steer Clear of this company

I had services elsewhere (one of the top home security company's). They were good, but Guardian blew them out of the water. I called because I got an offer for a lower rate from another company. I was placed in touch with a woman who not only beat the offer that was made, she made me feel as though I was the most important customer. it just amazes me the amount of focus they have for their loyal customers. I would never leave.

I have been with Guardian for more than six years now and have never had a malfunction with the system. I believe they have increased their offerings since I became a customer and now offer camera systems and remote control over locks, etc that were not available when I hired them, but I have always found them helpful and give them high marks.

Please read until the end and consider all of these things prior to signing up for service. Where to begin. I wish I had read the reviews here prior to signing with this company. My home was pre-wired for Guardian by my builder and a very suave salesman came to my house to sign me up for services. It all seemed reasonable and great until I installed new front/back doors into my home. The sensors no longer worked and the company wanted to charge a $100 service fee for the first hour and then an additional charge for each consecutive hour. After being with the company for 3 years I found this to be harsh. Is no customer assistance covered or warranted? Must I have to pay for each technician visit when I had been loyal customer for 3 years? Wait...there is more... I decided to end my services with the company due to making the decision to sell my home. This was the first instance of hearing about a 5 year contract. Since I have 2 years left on the contract and would pay $1167.00 during that period, they have offered me a DISCOUNTED buy-out rate of $863.00. They want me to pay an upfront fee of $863.00 to leave this "contract". This is a company with eyes on the dollar signs. They would make a customer pay $863.00 for ZERO services rendered. This experience has taught me one thing. If I ever decide to have an alarm system again IT WILL NOT BE WITH GUARDIAN.

Dishonesty from beginning to end. Please don't do business with this company. If you read all the fine print on the contract, it sounds like there is no way out, even after your 60 months are over. Here's how we terminated our "agreement" or contract with them. First, ask your local Guardian office for help. They were kind, helpful and very reasonable. They told me to write a letter and send it to corporate spelling out that I want to terminate the contract, include your password in the letter. Before you send it, take a picture. Call corporate and pay out the remaining months on your contract. Listen to them pretend to not understand that you want to CANCEL the agreement. Then listen to them try to LIE and tell you have a year more on your contract than you really do. Then listen to them try to give you an inflated "buyout" amount for the contract. They will then try to LIE and say they are giving you a discount on the buyout, when they are actually simply honoring the terms in the contract you have in front of you that you had to repeatedly remind them of. Get your confirmation number for the buyout payment. Then, get the customer service person's name, email address and send them that photo of the letter you mailed. Copy the person you talked to at your local guardian office for extra proof of intent to cancel. Then, don't do business with any company in the future till you research their honesty and past customer complaints. As a final note, I read that thieves today know these alarm systems only give them 30 seconds to grab the one most valuable thing they can find and get out. So that's what they do. So this service Guardian is rendered worthless anyway.

After 2 frustrating years they will not cancel the service unless I pay full five year fees. Why would I want to pay for something that does not work,????? A very crooked company. the service was ok signed up for a 3 year contract when we brought the new home I called after 3 years to cancel and was told we were locked in for a 5 year contract even though i had the contract in front of me and it said 3 years on it. then moved and like any other security companies the contract would be over they still wanted me to pay I will never use this company and am probably going to report them

Salesman did not explain system cancellation and fact that would have to pay large fee to cancel. He convinced elderly couple that it was best system however did not advise what would happen if they moved. Upon selling home and moving to villa that is already protected they were told that would have to continue paying monthly fees or pay a large fee one time. Guardian would not take into consideration the fact that their salesman took advantage of this elderly couple and did not offer any alternative to paying full fees. Do not use this company. All they want is to get the system installed in your home regardless of whether you can really afford it. And never mind the fact if you move and cannot take system you will still have to pay full amount of the 60 month contract

Beware: Guardian Protection Services will not terminate a contract for any reason. My father (clearly suffering from dementia when this system and service was sold to him) signed the contract for this service. He can no longer live in his home, despite this fact the company requires a payout to cancel the contract. The payout is the number of months left on the contract minus the cost of 6 months. The cost of the equipment and installation of the equipment was $640 (my father thought he had received the system for free) which seems pretty high for the quality of the equipment provided. That cost was in addition to the $40/month monitoring fee.

Hey Friends... So this is not my style.. but i fell it is only fair to warn people of what's going on! @guardiansecurity has the most ridiculous policies I have ever heard! If you have signed a contract with them you have also signed that your contract will auto renew once you hit your term. I sold my home in October 2016, I called Guardian to let them know it has been sold and that I will pay the remainder of my contract to keep the system up and running. My contract renewed in DECEMBER! The person on the other end of the line did not think this was important information for me to know. Therefore, it "auto renewed". Now I am stuck paying $327.18 to buy out of the remainder of my contract. After speaking to MULTIPLE people and being avoided for a week I finally had to settle with paying $100 even to get out of this contract and be able to "walk away". Here's my problem. I am no longer a home owner... If i had moved to another home.. okay yes, you need to move your contract to that home blah blah blah... But they are making me hold true to a contract that is, in my opinion VOID because I have nowhere to have this service in which they provide! I am absolutely disgusted that I have to pay them ANY money at all but I am tired of fighting them! Please just be warned!! Be sure to keep track of your contract date and the "Information you are responsible for" because there is NO negotiation or understanding from this company. First of all the customer service people are extremely rude. You call for assistance or help with the system and they treat you as if you are dumb. In order to cancel or terminate you have to get in contact with a second company. There you learn you have more years on the contract than you realized. And now you have to pay the remainder of the contact in order to cancel. The system does a check monthly. We recieved letters every month saying "a test signal from your security system was expected on (date) and was not received." When you call to check it out it is suddenly fine and system is working. Then the screen goes black at times and they tell you. "Did you disconnect it and connect it again?" If they have to send a tech or someone to look at the system they charge you 25$ and if they stay pass 5 pm that's an overtime charge. If your contract does not have the service charge then its 100+ for the first 30 minutes and then hourly. The app on the phone does not work half the time. And if the alarm goes off for some reason or the fire alarm goes off and they call you to make sure its ok or just turn it off. They charge you a fee. This is a terrible system and the worst choice i have made.

I had to cancel my service last may. My contract was not up unti november. They wanted the rest of the contract price. I understood only a 30 nogificstion was needed. So i waited and cancelled in November. I asked how to remove the keypad from the wall. I was told to just take it off, disconnect the wires, remove the batteries snd throw it away. I just got around to doing that and as soon as i disconnected it, my landline went dead. Their response? They will send out a technician at a cost of time and parts. So, they told me the incorrect way to do it and I i have to pay to have it done correctly? After i protested, she said call your phone provider, its my problem now. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE AWFUL.

This company gives no consideration for early cancellation, even for hardship cases. Termination for service after 2 years, was 750$. They said for installing fee. I paid 250$ when they first installed the unit. This is an outrageous fee . Be aware.

I advise that you find another company for furniture insurance. This place took three weeks just to get me into their system. Then once I went through all the hoops and several call backs, they found a way to say that my claim was not valid and that were a small company. Being a small company is not the customer fault or problem. If you cannot handle customer’s claims, you should get out the business. It is not fair and it is not right.
