Words cannot describe how disappointed I am in Guardian Security. At the beginning of 2016 you of guardian technicians came to my door and told me that my security system was out dated and needed to be replaced. I explained to the young men that I wasn’t interested because I would be putting my house up for sale in the summer and didn’t want to get caught up in a contract. They proceeded to tell me that everything would be ok and the company would work something out. I also had the opportunity to speak with a rep over the phone that told me the same thing. Still being hesitant, I asked what if I didn’t upgrade and was told that my current system may not work properly. I am a single mother of 2 so I decided to upgrade the system for the best interest of my 2 boys and myself. After a month or so after having the system, things started to go wrong. The system would go off in the middle of the night or just beep every 2-3 min. My youngest son is special needs and is very sensitive to sound. This caused very stressful nights because of this problem. I called and reported the problem and was told that someone had to come out to look things over. A technician was sent out 2 times before this was taken care of. The problem lasted for 2 months and during those 2 months, I was forced to sleep away from home so assure my kids and myself had a good nights rest. I was given no sort of compensation for this situation. The only thing that was said was “I’m sorry and thank you for being so patient.” As I told Guardian at the beginning of the year, I sold my home in September 2016. I called and informed Guardian that I sold the house and was told that I would have to transfer the service to a new home or have the new homeowners to take over the services. The new homeowners originally stated that they would take over, but changed their minds. I have relocated out of town and I’m in no need for a security system. I have spoke with several representatives that have stated that the contract stands and I am responsible for the payoff amount. The last person I spoke with was Tim, the Director of the Collections Department. I understand we all have a job to do, but the dishonesty of a company tells me a lot. His answer was I’m sorry ma’am, but a contract is a contract. It amazes me that all phone calls are suppose to be recorded, but there is no record of the call when I was told I would not be responsible to pay off the contract, which is $941.96. I feel that I was deceived from day 1 and would never recommend this company to anyone; I would totally discourage it. This has been one of the worst experiences ever and it’s hard to believe that it was all to protect myself and my family. A person should be able to trust the company who stands for protecting your home. I don’t trust this company at all. I gave one star because I couldn’t not give any.

I had the system installed in 2014 and would have given them a 10 up to that point, as I had no problems. Then in 2016, I started having problems with the back motion detector. After telling me it wasn't the battery, they came out and changed the battery and charged me $105. Then it malfunctioned again. They replaced the sensor and three weeks later it malfunctioned again. Today they decided to replace it once more. I don't know if it's faulty equipment or bad installation, but they've sent a tech out 4 times and the issue isn't resolved yet. The system uses a Simon panel that is too simplistic in features and too complicated when trying to bypass a component. Today I called Guardian and told them not to auto-renew my contract. They simply said "OK"--never asked me why I was unhappy or if asked if there was anything they could do. They clearly were not interested in providing customer service or in keeping me as a customer.

Henrietta Read the fine print and ask questions. I was under the assumption that I was going to pay $359 for three years...I even asked this is for three years and was told yes. My finanacial situation has changed and I went to terminate service. I was now told I had two more years on my contract. They could terminate service but I would still need to pay for the two years! What a rip off! The day I signed up, I had a houseful of inspectors and appraisers. That was nice timing on their part to sell me a service. It was never clarified that my yearly payment was $359 for each year and the contract was for three years. I don't recommend this company.

So have been with Guardian Protection for 10+ years. Today attempts to reach their customer service were horrible. I can only assume they are having staff shortages. My first call to the monitoring service yielded a response that they did not know the answer to my question which was why was my monitor ringing every 10 seconds. They transferred me to customer service where I waited over 15 minutes before I finally hung up. I then repeated the process. This time I waited for 20 minutes before one of your agents answered. She was competent and helpful but 15 -20 minute waits at a security company are unacceptable.

I was shocked to find out there was a cancellation fee and auto renewal policy. after being with them for 12 years they still charged me an cancellation fee. Once I told them i was leaving i was offered a cheaper rate. why does one need to leave to get a cheaper rate not the type of people i do business with.

Our whole house system was installed in AZ in April 2016. On Wednesday, November 9, 2016 we returned from our Winter home to find the smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector in our bedroom "chirping." After paying a handyman and having the Fire Department check our house it was suggested that it's an ADT/Guardian, so we called for service. My husband about an hour on the phone, ADT has NO idea what the problem could be and wants my husband to use a screwdriver and disconnect a wire (not a good idea) BUT they will send a repairman this coming Friday, 6 days from now, to "take a look at things." In the meantime we sleep in a bedroom with a "chirping" alarm. Interesting enough we had an ADT system in our Winter house, a system I had removed BECAUSE no one could figure out why the alarm in the family room kept chirping. THIS IS NOT A RELIABLE COMPANY; THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON-EXISTENT. It is my opinion that they have broken contract with us - "reasonable repair time" - and I'm sure this is going to turn "legal." DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. They are great on selling, not so great on servicing. At NO time has ADT called us to advise us of the problem. Apparently they aren't aware that we have a problem. So much for a monitored system!

I don't know if people realize that home break ins have changed or not. It used to be that they would break in and go through all your possible hiding spots to include your freezer. They would load everything up and be in and out within 5-10 minutes before your alarm system notice could get the cops to your home. So their system would occasionally result in a burglar getting caught. Today's burglar has evolved just like your security system. When your home is broken into, they do a quick one, two and are gone with your most expensive item that each burglar can carry...as long as they're out within 1 minute. That's right people, 1 minute. And that means that your alarm has only gone off for 30 seconds and they're gone. So what good does an alarm system do for you when the perps are in and out within 1 minute? That's right, absolutely nothing but waste your money. Them contacting the police AFTER the deed has been done, in that way, ensures that you will never recoup your losses AND you are stuck in a contract for services that are no good because they're obsolete. It's better to have your own camera system put in that can store data for at least a week and that can be checked by you and send you notifications of any suspicious activity. Yes, you can do this on your own and it doesn't cost much to buy or maintain AND there's no 2-3 year contract to have to mess with them about when you move or when a loved one dies. Customer service for Guardian has been a nightmare for my family. They said they would return my father's money and then turned around and said they could not. My experience with them hasn't been good, but if you use them, don't sign or agree to any contract and pay the higher price for a camera system if you don't have someone who can help you manage your own.

BEWARE, they require a 60 month contractor. We got tricked into this. Our builder referred them as their preferred alarm company and said we get free alarm keypad, well the not so upfront was that this was a 5 year contract. We pay $43.25/mo for alarm and only have sensors on front door, back door, and in living room. No window sensors. This is insane. You probably can get a lot more security from another company, so don't be dumb like us and not shop around.

This company is the biggest scam artist and they will rip you off every chance they get. We moved from our home and called to have the service discointinued so we thought. We continued to get charged and never noticed until I was looking closely at our banking statement and saw a charge from them, we had been moved out of that home for 2 years and they had been charging us the whole time. We over looked it and thought we should have paid more attention. So we called again and was told they could not cancel our account because we no longer knew what the password was it had been 2 years and tried to remember what that one was well they refused to cancel it so we called our bank and had them stop the automatic withdraw, now they continued to call us so I finally got pissed off and frustrated and told them all I wanted to do was cancel my account to a house I no longer lived in they finally broke down and gave me my password and then had to email them a request to cancel. Wtell it was Febuarary when I did the stop payment and August when I was finally able to cancel my account, Injist got a bill from them saying I owed hem 566 dollars, how he hell when my monthly payment was only 30 dollars a month. 30x7 does not equal 566 dollars. These people just are greedy greedy asses. Be careful they will rob you blind!!

We have had Guardian Protection for over 10 years. Their service has been excellent. Their phone reps in the Pittsburgh area are polite, fully informed and speak English! In 10 years we have never had an issue with the system that they did not promptly repair. We recently called to upgrade from landline service to cell phone service so we can control the system from our cell phones. Because we are long time customers who pay on time, there was no upgrade fee.

One of the worst companies around to deal with when it comes to cancellation. We sold our home after 2 years and they still are hounding us to pay for another 3 years. They claim we still owe even though we informed them of the sale and our move to a different state within two months. They are thieves and money hungry crooks. They use their size and muscle to steal your hard earned income. Wish the attorney general would take them to task.

We've been with Guardian for a little over 4 years. They have always been prompt to call us in the event of an alarm, issues etc. Customer service has always been great with us, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend them and have done. For those who have given bad ratings, read your contract. We paid up front for our equipment, so there are no contract issues for us.

Run far away from this company. Tried to cancel today, after having service for initially agteterd upon 3 yrs. Apparently i am 8 months too late to do so as they renewed my contract automatically for 60 months, per the buried language in the contract. If I ever scrape up enough money to pay them I AM Done! BEWARE OF GUARDIAN!

Guardian is great when it comes to selling the system. Unfortunately, they don't tell you all the details of the contract and lock you in for three years without telling you. The customer service is also not forthcoming. They provided me with I contract they say I signed, but it was not my signature. I have sent messages to find out more about it, but they refuse to answer my questions and said it I extended our contract for 5 more years, they would drop the price by $5,00 per month. I want to cancel because of their dishonesty, but they are not willing to even return my messages and explain their position. They just ignore you and claim that they stand by the contract but still wont explain who signed the contract they sent.

Don't do this. We have had the service for 17 years. Never had a offer to up date. Now we want cancel and was informed we have to pay off another 31 months. This is over a thousand dollars. They told me this was in the contract. Keep in mind that was 17 years ago. Talk about hard up.

Very disappointed with this company, after two years of service they sold our monitoring to another company without notifying us. We only found out because the account the payment was made from was changed. We called to notify Guardian and were told they couldn't help us because we are no longer their customer. After several minutes of debate we finally received a number to call. The new monitoring company didn't even have our phone numbers. How could they get a hold of us in an emergency? Shame on you Guardian for not notifying us prior.

I have Guardian and they are great. I sit here and read review about people who are complaining about things that they deal with everyday. I have never had an issue with monitoring and service has always come within days. People complain about early termination cost but don't want to pay out of pocket for the equip up front. I read my agreement and knew I was getting free equipment in lue of the paying out of pocket. I read and understood after the warranty was over that there would be a co-pay for service. It's called an extended warranty for a reason. People are cheap and bitter. I would refer people to Guardian as my experience has been great. I can't speak for other companies as I have no had any. But Guardian was my first sysem in my first home. And I will keep them

When i got the service I was under the understanding that I could be able to cancel at anytime and they will be willing to work with me. When I called they told me that I had a five year contract and that i had to pay the remaining years of the contract. If i knew i had a five year contract I would never had agreed to the terms and conditions.

Guardian charges me an unfair cancellation fee in amount of $750. I am looking for the legal service currently to protect myself from the completely unfair Guardian cancellation fee. Please see the brief as below. If you have met the similar situation, please contact me at *****@****.com. Let's fight for our rights together. A Guardian sales agent in Texas (TX) reached us early and persuaded us to use their service. We finally agreed to use their service mainly because the default home security system installed in our home in TX by the builder is a Guardian system. Before we signed the contract, I asked the agent whether we could transfer the service to New York (NY) once we moved there, because we would move to NY within about half a year. The agent told us definitely no problem and Guardian would take care of the service transfer process from TX to NY. Once we moved to NY and requested to transfer the service, Guardian told us they need to charge us $500 and extend our contract to 5 years in order to transfer. Their monthly rate is about $50, much more expensive than many other companies. We did not want to extend the contract to 5 years and did not think it’s fair to pay the $500 fee either. Our home in NY has existing home security hardware. Then we checked with Guardian if we could cancel the service. We were told the cancellation fee is $750. Our previous home in TX has all the pre-installed hardware for home security. Guardian technician came by and only did some initialization on the control panel and attached a few more sensors. $750 is a completely unfair bill for cancellation of the service. This is quite different from the early termination fee of a cell phone line in my opinion, because the customers receive a new and usually expensive cell phone when they signed a cell phone line contract, and the early termination fee is generally the compensation of the phone for the cell phone company. The account management supervisor/director at Guardian, Ms. ******** * ****, is very hard to communicate. Based on the conversation, it seems to be no way to resolve the issue, except for paying the $750. Un-professional at all in my opinion. ******** also told me Guardian would keep charging me ~$50 monthly until they receive the $750 payment from me, even though the home security system was not transferred to NY and was not in use in TX either. I am looking for a lawyer for help now, who is like to be one from the similar cases below. Even it finally costs me more in order to pursue this way, I still would like to fight for the fairness.

At this point Im done! A customer since 2011, happy with basic pkg. after our contract was up 2014 we upgraded our pkg. $10 more a month for 2 cameras. Back camera never worked properly the screen froze (showing snow in the ground from 2014) Front camera stopped last August 2015. Many phone calls, and trouble shooting. Technician here now, going on 6 hrs. still working- I'm done with the cameras but our contract states cameras, were told were still paying $10 a month with them working or NOT. It's their problem! I need corporates number!

We had guardian installed the end of last week. One thing my husband wanted to know about was false alarms. He was assured this doesn't h happen. After the salesman coming for the 4th time my husband decided to change to Guardian . They installed the new alarm on the wall, New smoke detector and new glass breakage. They used our existing motion detectors. We were assured if we had any problem they would be right over. On Saturday we were taking a day outing, set the alarm and about a hour after leaving my husband got a call from Guardian telling him the smoke detector was going off. He said to not call the fire dept and we had to turn around and go home..canceling our plans. After we got home and turned the system off my husband called the salesman who called the service guy who called us. They argued with my husband telling him it was the motion not smoke detector that went off. My husband told them it was installed wrong and they argued with him. First ally they called back and said they had it corrected on their end. When we asked w hat that meant they said they told guardian if t g e smoke detector went o f2f I t was the motion detector and they said they would f u x the problem on Monday. Today, Monday I l etc a n d set he alarm and not even 5 minutes m y husband called me a b d said i d to turn around the alarm was going off. Right now we don't have much confidence in this product. We will see how they correct the problems tonight.

At this point I rate it a 5. I like having the remote control, and the panic control in case of medical emergencies. Hopefully I will never have an emergency, burglary, or break-in but if I do I do expect that I will get help immediately. You want free advertisement, and I want good service, so send me stickers. I finally received the yard signs this week. Time will tell if this company and system are worth the money I will be spending.

The most awful company I have ever dealt with in my life. Do not, I repeat, do NOT even think about using these frauds. They have terrible customer service and lie about the length of your contract. I am reporting them to the BBB and hiring an attorney to get me out of the 3 YEAR contract I didn't even agree to.

Never had any problems until we updated the system. Since, we have two sensors that keep setting the alarm off. Had to wait 2 weeks to get it looked at even though they just installed it and problems occurred first day. Technician finally came, looked it over, stated he could find nothing wrong and left. Guess what, problem still remained. Alarm went off on same two sensors, cops were called etc. What a mess. Thinking of switching to a new company.

Can't discourage anyone enough from Guardian. Got the service and when I had to drop for a move was still forced to pay out the full contract. My mistake in going with a contract, and in particular with Guardian. Was way too expensive for what we received. Look elsewhere.

Home security was something we have talked about doing for ourselves for several years but had never done. Then 1 day "home security" knocked on our door. Everybody was super nice, the salesperson Austin B. was focused but not pushy, and the installation crew was great, quick and tidy. I don't ever hand out 10's for anything but I'll give these folks a 9+.

We are so happy with our Guardian System. We really like that it is a smaller company that connects with its people. I feel so much safer in my home being alone so much of the time. I love how it keeps track of every time something is changed on the alarm system. We would recommend this system to anyone!

I originally signed up with Guardian in a house that I had on the market. The salesman told me not to worry about the five year term. If I sold the house, I wouldn't need the service, would I? Ha!!! I have since moved twice, and have gotten stuck with a service that I neither need nor want. (I live in a gated community with provided security through the HOA). Good luck getting out of any contracts with this company.

We signed up with guardian early 2015 hoping that they are a good security service provider, but we were wrong. Initially they would answer calls right away and would call if an alarm went off, but then they became extremely unreliable. Never would bother to call and check if the alarm went off, to see if there was an actual emergency or an actual threat. After calling for a technician we would have to wait for days to get a problem fixed, and in the mean time go without the security which we were paying for. They also charged us for the sensors that have gone bad which should have been free. When we sold the house in December, we cancelled the service with guardian and explained to them how dissatisfied we were and did not want their service at the new place. They cancelled the monitoring and send us a cancellation letter. Once we moved to the new place, guardian started haunting us with calls and bills. They are billing us for service that we did not use. When I told them that we cancelled, they are telling me I still owe them money for the rest of the months until the one year contract is up or I have to use them in the new house even if I do not like the service. God almighty, I thought I lived in America and not in a communist country where some one would tell me I must do something whether I like it or not. Guardian, your security system stinks and so does your customer service. you are going to lose more and more business until you are no longer a business if you do not change your business model.

Technicians were knowledgable and quick to install our equipment. Love that it is armed through our cellular devices. Our contract was sent to us through email which I can save or print if I need it. Signs and stickers were left that night but the most important thing is the system itself is easy to use and works great. We did sign a 5 year contract but it can be transferred to a new home and the rates are locked in. Technicians helped us decide the best placement of the equipment and explained we could always add more equipment as we see a need.
