Warranty Policy

The most glaring problem with Habitec is their warranty policy. 

Whether you purchase a system with a one or three year contract the warranty is still just one year. 

Since most customers choose not to pay for all the equipment upfront they get stuck using a Habitec Security system for several years that is not ensured. This means that any equipment malfunctions will require extra out-of-pocket costs.

Smaller Company

Another potential problem for customers living outside of the Ohio/Southeast Michigan area is that technical support will be slow due to the small size of the company.  It would most likely take several weeks to receive in-person support for equipment needs.

Lacks Pricing Information

Habitec Security does not provide upfront pricing information on its website about monthly fees, installation fees, or equipment fees.

Customers have no way of comparing Habitec's pricing against its competitors in the security industry. If the company hopes to be truly focused on customer service, it should be more clear about its prices.

Our Recommendation

Ultimately, when deciding to go with Habitec or not, proximity to their central offices should be your first concern.  If you live in the Toledo, OH area then this is a viable option for your home security needs. 

They have a solid local reputation, many years of experience, are well established in the community, and use high-end security equipment.  Their attention and dedication to their local customer base is unmatched by their competitors.

I had opened a business 2 years ago when they had approached us for security service. I had asked the sales person about the term of contract as I had another business with security system, and they had indicated it would be for 3 years. However it turned to be for 5yeas. After 2 years in business with misfortune, I had to close the business. So I had called them about early termination fee. And I did expect it as I have dealt with other businesses, but they came with most excessive termination fee. They wanted to collect for the entire term of the contract plus taxes! 3 years with of monthly charges! Maybe I was stupid, so I don’t want others to be screwed, so I am writing this review.

My 91 year old mother has a security necklasce with you. It's nice to know you are there for her if she needs you. She went on vacation and now that she is back, she has not bothered to turn her home phone back on. Your techs have called me several times and have been so nice and patient waiting for my mother to turn on her phone

I have been really pleased with tall the people from ordering it to installation andhe quick response and kindness of all the people I have dealt with. The checking on me quickly if I set off my alarm accidentally. Well pleased and Happy I chose Habitec Security.

We knew we needed a security system after we lost our dog. Tom Rood was our salesperson and he listened to all our concerns and his recommendations were dead on !!! We have been very satisfied customers for about 6 yrs now!!! Thankyou Tom and Habitec Security!!!

Habitec Security has been the worst company we have dealt with, they Dont keep up with technology and then make the customer pay for it. We recently moved and 3 months later we still don't have our system reinstalled, but they want paid any way. We used them on every home and rental we have. When our contract is up we WILL NOT use them again.

Wow, all I can say is terrible customer service reps; rude and unprofessional. I was compelled to find a place where I could comment so hopefully anyone researching security systems will come upon my comment. I am employed by a well known firm in Toledo who currently and unfortunately have Habitec security. We experienced an alarm issue this morning and received a call from Habitec in which the employee (female) acted annoyed and impatient with having to help us trouble shoot the alarm issue. What a shame.

This insurance company is terrible to deal with. They are extremely rude when talking to the billing office. I recently sold a home and it was terrible dealing with them in getting the contract cancelled. Even though their contract says that you can cancel if you show proof of moving.
