  • Name Change: LiveWatch Security is now Brinks Home Security.
  • Equipment Costs: There are two different packages customers can choose from: Home Complete and Home Complete with Video. Customers can choose to buy the equipment up front which will cost $399 for Home Complete and $499 for Home Complete with Video. There is also the option to pay for equipment each month which will cost $11.08/month and $13.86/month respectively.
  • No Early Termination Fees: LiveWatch customers are free to cancel their service at any time with no early termination fees, although you may have to pay for your equipment. Many home security companies require their customers to pay the remaining balance of their contract, which sometimes adds up to hundreds of dollars.
  • Rate-Lock: Customers don’t have to worry about their monitoring costs rising since their ate-lock guarantee ensures monthly rates will not increase.
  • Trial: Potential customers can try the Brinks Home Security plan/equipment for 30 days. If unsatisfied, it can be returned for a full refund.
  • Install: Both professional and DIY installation is available through Brinks.
  • Our Recommendation: While customers can choose to pay for their equipment each month, the up-front costs are high and there is still a contract associated with service. For these reasons, we recommend Protect America or Frontpoint.

    I used to be a proponent of Livewatch but overall you're better off going for a more reputable brand. My livewatch has been nothing but a headache and they've actually cost me more money than they saved. I've had 2 random false alarm calls due to faulty sensors where it just sent the police to my house without being triggered. Thinking it was a break-in, I let the police check it out. Turns out the sensor just decide to call the police on its own. Bam, $115 fine which Livewatch says it's not responsible for. Right now I'm more scared about false alarms than actual burglaries. But seriously, you'll end up paying more for your system if you're in a state that charges for false alarms.Read More

    In my opinion Live Watch is Bait and Switch. The Bait; offer low fee for equipment. The web site will offer equipment for as low as $99. Sales will tell you low equipment fee, To get the low fee , you must try the Monitoring service for at least one month, cancel anytime after that you want. .
    THE SWITCH:; I found a charge on my credit, that was not authorized.Turns out be be a hidden fee. When I called about the fee I was told, I was being charge for a Monitor, that was to an exchange for a faulty monitor I received with my equipment. The problem, I never got the Monitor, that was to be the exchanged for the bad Monitor. Now I’m expected to pay $129.for a monitor that I did not get and I had already paid for the faulty Monitor.
    I refused to pay and blocked my card. I wanted to cancel the service. Now I’m told that I can not cancel I must keep the service for 1yr or pay $600 for Equipment or return the equipment. I already paid the other LOW fee and set-up. That makes Live Watch in my book a scam company and doing Bait and Switch The Good is I liked the Monitoring Service and would have continued, Scam, is a Scm

    WOW, talk about getting the run around, and I was just on a online chat with them. All I wanted was the prices for their products. They really didn’t want to supply them. So what are they hiding. Monitoring costs are worse than ADT. I just wanted to see what it would cost me for a new system for our home.

    Summary: Overall, good DIY alarm company with low up-front cost and very clear plans. Lifetime warranty for products available, but only if you ask. Marketing is extremely aggressive.

    I was shopping around for alarm companies recently and spoke to customer service agents at several of them. LiveWatch has the most aggressive sales tactics I’ve seen in a while. You will be emailed, called, and nearly harassed as they try to get your business, and even when you sign up (which I have) you will still get emails and phone calls. I think they’re trying to come off as caring, but I see how some people might get fed up with it. The simple solution to this is to politely ask them to limit their calls/emails or ask them to stop entirely. I feel this is a non-issue.

    The billing is done through credit card and is automatically paid per month, so you don’t have to worry about doing anything manually. I’m not sure if there is a manual payment option should you be interested in doing so.

    My equipment costs were $99, as advertised, and if you speak to the sales agent they can probably get you most or all extra equipment for the same price. The default package comes with a panel, only two door/window sensors, and a few other things. Just ask for more door/window sensors and they’ll likely provide you with some for no extra cost. Once you receive the equipment you have 90 days to return it. After one year of service you can keep the equipment for yourself and use a different monitoring company. If you leave before a year is up you have to return the equipment, but you are also refunded whatever you paid for it. I would not consider $99 to be a “high upfront cost” considering some monitoring services will require you to buy your own equipment (easily $500+ for everything). LiveWatch has a good hybrid system with what I consider a reasonable upfront cost and fair monitoring price.

    Equipment installation was a breeze. Door/window sensors have little manuals to help you out (or you can call LiveWatch’s support line) and attach via double-sided tape. LiveWatch pre-programs the sensors for you and labels each door/window sensor box so you know where to put them. All sensors are clearly listed on the panel and it makes setup a breeze. Down the line this will also make it easier to replace sensor batteries, as the panel will give a message saying “front door low battery”, or something along those lines. I did have a problem with the transformer for my first panel (the part that plugs into the wall) and I received a replacement within a couple of days.

    Pricing is month-to-month with no contracts. As mentioned above, if you cancel within the first year you must return the equipment, but you are also refunded the equipment’s price.

    Customer service and tech support isn’t as readily available as their marketing team is. However, I have no complaints about their reply time. Calls were either answered after less than 10 minutes on hold, or they would return my call within 24 hours. For some people this may be too long, so do keep this in mind.

    Overall I’m very happy with LiveWatch so far. They seem very honest about their policies and their service is very personalized, if a little overbearing at times. I noticed some of the reviews here have conflicting information (upfront cost of $900?) and that just seems entirely incorrect to me. It is possible that LiveWatch has made some changes in the last few years, which is resulting in very different experiences. If you are looking to go with LiveWatch I recommend calling them yourself to see what they have to offer. If you get overloaded with emails and phone calls, just politely ask them to stop. Reviews here speak poorly of the cancellation process, but it’s not something I have experience with. I would advise you proceed with caution on that front.

    I will NEVER do business with their company. I filled out the contact form and received a call right away. As soon as the salesman told we they were not high pressure o should have known what was about to come. He gave me a quote. I told him I needed to talk with my girlfriend. I emailed the salesman and said we had another company that had better pricing but we would discuss it more, do our research and let him know on Monday. He called me right away and told me why his company was better than the others. He wanted to get my Girlfriend on the call. I told him we didn’t have time as it was around 6:30 and we were headed out and that Monday would be the time. The first call came at 8am with no voicemail. The next was 8:37. The next was 9:47 with a voicemail. Then 10:56, 12:05, 1:14, 3:18, 5:19 and 7:23. Not to mention the multiple emails I received. I was in meetings all day and couldn’t answer but my phone went off all day. I finally answered and laid into them. I will never do business with them. Ridiculous.

    At first the advertising is great, then they have no answers once you get it. And if the thief has your email God forbid and tries your password and locks u out, you can’t get into it until morning! No 24 hour service like they say! And I came home and my house is different and socks were on my floor! So the point is, someone went threw my stuff. I can’t look at my cameras and WHY didn’t the alarm sound? I guess my email adress. Word of advice, use a brand new email adress. And not sure if this comp is a hokes.

    I have had a livewatch alarm system for about 4 years. I absolutely love it. It was really easy to set up and I have never had an issue. When I moved to my new place last year they sent me all new equipment for free. I have never had anyone break in but I have tested the system and it works well. The only thing negative is that the alarm itself is not actually as loud as I would like. I’m not sure if a neighbor would actually realize their was an alarm going off in an urban dense area like I live in.

    Used Live watch for slightly over 6 years. The monitoring equipment has been very reliable. Our system uses the wireless phone card in the main console. It failed after several years and was replaced for free, Customer service for me has always been great. . The monitoring company is quick acting and I have always been able to get through to cancel a couple of false intrusion and smoke alarms. We also control multiple devices, thermostat, pool pump, and interior/exterior lights with the same system. It is amazing to be able to see live video and turn lights on and off when you are 1200 miles away from your home. The phone and computer apps are also great. Would not even consider another company for our security. Yes you do have to install the system yourself, but everything is set up and identified as to where it will go. Pretty easy to do,

    We have tried to cancel basically soon after we got this so called system the sensors dont work and we want our money back. On top they just tried to get the monthly fee of 49.00 out of our account after we callex twice and cancelled. They were not suppose to be charging us for a month because of faulty equipment. But we said we were cancelling, thetefore we should not have belen billed at all. We have only had this system for 3 days. We cancelled the next day. We need our refund to get a system installed that protects our home.

    Worst ever security devices and services. Not reliable at all. The system hangs without you being knowing and you would think you are being monitored, not to mention, you keep paying month on month. My alarm went off a few times, but I never got a call, again confirming the monitoring sucks!!!!

    I’ve had LiveWatch for over a year now and I have loved it. Since day one the customer service was amazing. I don’t understand the people that have posted bad reviews on here. It’s been the complete opposite for me. I had an issue with my first iq panel and they replaced no questions asked immediately. Also, People must not understand they are buying a diy alarm system. Installation​ was so easy a five year old could do it. Haven’t had any issues with the hardware minus my first panel missing a tampering spring.

    wireless sensors are very weak and the tape that holds them up is not good. I have had my system for 2 months and 1 sensor has failed and my light sensor does not work. My router covers 10,500 square feet and the sensors are so weak that they cannot be picked up bu my router.

    I installed the system last summer (2016)..Was at home for two months to make sure system would work for us. Left in the fall to winter in the south. One month into our vacation, the front door blew open(was not latched properly). The system worked perfectly. They called me to see if alarm was valid, I indicated that I didn’t know what had happened, so they called the police and the police were there in no time and checked the house and property. They saw no footprints up to the door so knew that no one was responsible for the door coming open. They closed the door and left. Every thing was fine for rest of winter.. I am very happy with the system and would recommend it to everyone. It is such a peace of mind to know that if anything happens, the system is going to work!!!

    I’m very happy. I’ve had the system two years and had a break in while away. They called me right away and then police. The thieves got nothing. I needed new signs, thieves stole and customer services had them to me in two days. I needed a new sensor (I placed one too close to the door frame and it got crack after a year) and again customer support sent two new ones (one extra) fast at no charge. It did what it’s supposed to.

    I have been using Livewatch since 2015. This system was easy to install and setup. Livewatch made it easy with their customer support 24/7 and in no time I was up and running. I am amassed at out fast Livewatch responds in the event of an alarm also. Cost may be high in the beginning but don’t just look at cost look at cost, customer support and options plus if you are a diy type of person you will appreciate this company and system.

    This outfit was great for set-up, good hardware and monitoring, but once there is a problem, forget it. I had verbally and in writing instructed up front that our police department was never to be summoned; only I or family members were to be informed of an activation. Sure enough, there was an accidental alarm trigger, and we got a stiff fine from LAPD. Livewatch is in total denial and won’t admit their error or reimburse. They have lost a customer for life.

    Terrible customer service. Extremely long waits on hold. I had a very simple issue to discuss, call was transfered 3 times. Their own website lists 5 different phone number. In disgust, I finally called to cancel service, was assured it would be. They have since tried to bill meTHREE (3) more times. Am considering legal action, complaint to BBB, internet posts, etc.

    The Company LiveWatch is a fantastic alarm System provider. I especially like they’re great tech support, sales support, and customer service. I’ve been with companies in the past that don’t compare to this one. In total the company has one of the best response time in the industry, and the most up-to-date equipment in the industry.     In these days it is not often one is provided with customer service that is memorable and leaves a lasting impression. The representative that serviced me provided me with exceptional customer service that really set me back. I thought to myself, I wished that all customer service interactions were like this, because we could all accomplish our task and I would have less stress & frustration.     Live Watch is an amazing Security System! I chose after a home breakin late Nov 2015. Sadly my daughters dog was poisoned with sedatives & died from beart failure! Got home find back entry break in, fortunate they ran off with just a few items! But losing my daughters dog & the threat to our family , dogs safety was huge wake up call. I researched & chose Live Watch over other Companys, user friendly self install & fair monthly fees! By Dec 24th my security system was activated & I had a much relieved sence of safety! The equipment is State of the Art, yet affordable! They gave plenty of signs for property & decals for windows! The Customer Service & wonderful Tech Dept are patient, considerate they work dillagently help set up equipment for Client Safety! The key fobs are incredible technoligy, I now feel even safer knowing how to use them properly! I give Live Watch ☆☆☆☆ & highly recommend to anyone in need of a Security System!     Cheap cheap design!!!! I received my unit today 2/14/17 I am very unhappy with the master control unit it is not designed to hang on the wall once you remove the stand you have an opening in the back of the unit it is a very poor design. I was told I could cover it with cardboard not for the fine price if 600.00 dollars that stand should be able to come off without that cover coming off. This system will be going back.

    The LiveWatch Security system has worked extremely well for me. The equipment was delivered in a timely manner and set-up was easy. Customer service employees were kind and courteous.     LiveWatch was great at helping me design my system and making sure I got everything that we discussed. They were proactive about scheduling follow-up calls for both sales and installation/configuration. Adding an Alarm.com camera was really easy, the LiveWatch DIY videos were easy to follow and the service technicians understood exactly how to help with configuration. We took advantage of the offline training period and the interface was easy to use. Even with the training period, we did set off the system during our first few days. The great news is the system and LiveWatch support performed EXACTLY as described. Follow-up has been exceptional. Great customer service, easy DIY installation, and a 12-month money-back guarantee?! UNHEARD OF!! So glad we made the choice for LiveWatch… I have easily recommended for others.
