Pros

  • No Early Termination Fees
  • Rate Lock
  • Trial Period

No Early Termination Fees

LiveWatch customers are free to cancel their service at any time with no early termination fees, although you may have to pay for your equipment. Many home security companies require their customers to pay the remaining balance of their contract, which sometimes adds up to hundreds of dollars.

Rate Lock

Customers don't have to worry about their monitoring costs rising since their rate-lock guarantee ensures monthly rates will not increase.

Trial Period

Potential customers can try the Brinks Home Security plan/equipment for 30 days. If unsatisfied, it can be returned for a full refund.

Cons

  • Minimum Home Automation Equipment
  • Expensive Monthly Fees

Minimum Home Automation Equipment

Link Interactive, now part of Brinks Home Security, does not sell home automation equipment. Those interested in home automation will have to purchase equipment separately from another company. The company sells very limited equipment: motion sensors, door sensors, fire monitoring, indoor cameras, and doorbell cameras.

Expensive Monthly Fees

Those who choose to roll the cost of their equipment into their monthly monitoring costs will end up paying or $40.08 for Nest Secure $42.86 for Home Complete, $55.64/month for Home Complete + Video. This is without any additional sensors.

Our Recommendation

LiveWatch Security (Brinks) has positive home security reviews and uses excellent equipment for home security. For those who are interested solely in home security and want to purchase their equipment upfront, this company is a good choice.

Choosing and installing a security system can be daunting task. LiveWatch takes the stress out of securing your home. The initial contact with a system consultant provides all the help you need to select the best possible combination of sensors to adequately secure the home. Delivery was virtually overnight. Everything was boxed, labeled, and listed by location on the list provided. The email link to the installation video provided can't miss instructions for placing the components. The activation call provided assistance in getting everything up and running. We had a minor problem with one sensor placement and were treated with patience and expert assistance. Step by step help with setting up our account made this task a breeze. And everything worked perfectly when we completed the install. I especially appreciate that every communication with LiveWatch has the name and contact information of the sender. You deal with real people who care about your experience. It's like working with a home town merchant just down the street My only gripe: the instructions for operating the IQ Panel seem cluttered. More white space on the pages would make it easier to find and read the information. And I would appreciate an index. Overall, a great product, personal service, and a competitive price. We are happy with our choice of LiveWatch for our home security needs.

Installation of LiveWatch equipment... The purchase, review of equipment setup and activation was one of the most professional processes from start to finish. My background is years of Information Techonology so I am not the easiest clients to deal with much less impress. I was and am very pleased with LiveWatch and I think you would be too.

LiveWatch Security provides the kind of experience that one expects. This includes every aspect from the Products/Alarm system, to the rapid response of the Monitoring service. It has been my experience with all Customer Service interactions that they did everything in a professional, knowledgeable and curtious manner. They listened to my inquiries, not matter how trivial or serious with patience. Always making sure I had been helped to my satisfaction, never rushed. Also encouraged to call whenever I needed to if I had any other questions or concerns. If you want a Security service that feels like a trustworthy friend, you want LiveWatch!

Have you "experienced" Sirius/XM Radio cancellation protocol? Same run-around with Livewatch. For personal reasons, I chose not to install/activate their equipment, have been texted 12 times; "We see you're not activated/protected, what can I do to help?", and when I text back, or email, that I want a return authorization, I'm told someone will be in touch "very soon." Then they began to bill me, for both, activation and fees. HUH? The bits are still in the box they came in!!?? Then they send me a form to sign; allowing that they will continue to bill me, until the parts are returned!?!? HUH? They present a very low-class business model. Really poor!

I called to get information on the different packages and was hit with a hard sale which I found deplorable and unnecessary. The upfront cost was surprising and I didn't like the attitude of the sales person when I called customer service. I am at an age where I know what I want and just don't have the patience for hard selling when there is no need. LiveWatch was #1 on list and now I have decided not to do business with this company. I asked the sales man not to call me and sure he called the following day anyway. I simply asked him to take me off the list and please to not call my home again. The company may have an outstanding record for monitoring but need to place more energy on customer service in my opinion.

My product stopped working in January of 2016. They sent me a replacement part & tipple billed me for the replacement. It took several months to correct the tipple billing & the device still did not work. for 7 months they billed me for a service that they did not provide & i finally had to have the credit card company refuse payment. Very disorganized company, not worth the amount you save, they end up charging you on the back end with erroneous charges.

I had live watch for only 4 months and my house was broken into, the copper was stolen from my house, the wiring was cut and drywall broken and not once did I get a call from LIVE WATCH. I had supplied 4 different phone numbers where I could be contacted in case of an emergency. When I got home and saw my front door wide open where there was a sensor as well as the back sliding door where there was also a sensor was open. The only response from LIVE WATCH was there was an email sent that the battery was low. The alarm was connected to the outlet and was stolen as well. I was never notified and now I have over $20,000 in repairs needed to my house to make it a habitable living conditions. With now no electricity or plumbing we can no longer stay in our home. Do not use live watch, when I called about everything they threw the policies at me and said they are not liable. If you are trusting a company to at least inform you when your house in broken into they should be liable if they did not do so.

After being a SafeMart/LIveWatch customer for the last ten years or so, I am feeliing very disappointed. I thought I was purchasing some level of security/protection. However, as diffictult as it is to even contact this company, I do not understand how they would possibly respond to a security issue in a timely fashion. i tried calling the "award-winning customer serivce department" this morning. Following being bounced around from one recorded message to another, I was connected with a live line through which I could hear conversations going on the in the background, but no one would respond to me. After shouting and whistling on the phone line to get someone's attention, I spoke with a man named Steve. I let him know that because it was so difficult to contact them, and it seemed they are unable to answer a simple phone call, I felt I had not been receiving any secuity protection and had just been wasting my money. I told "Steve" to please cancel my service. Very disappointed. This service is NOT what is advertised. I have not been "protected" at all. I have wasted my money for years.

Customer service charges $25 per call after their 3 day "trial" period, if it is not an emergency !!! They surely don't tell you this when they are selling you the product ! This help is also not available at all after 5 PM Saturdays or anytime on Sunday !!!! Pathetic.... Their message is " if this is an emergency, call 911". THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THEIR JOB !!! This does not work for my 85 year old father, who needs longer than that to train to a new system. I will be returning the system soon, and will update as to how their warranty goes....

Just quit their service after 12 months of paying over 50 dollars a month to them. I had 2 homes one in Oregon and one in FLoria that had the live watch service. When I was in Oregon the camera were not working, but they kept charging the 10 dollar fees. They told me I need to be on site to fix the problem, so I guess I need to fly back everytime the cameras do not work. I was back and tried to stop the 10 dollar charge they wanted me to send them another agreement in order to stop the charge. I asked why they could not just stop it . They said it is their policy, at that point I just asked to cancel the whole contract since I had 12 months with them. DONE DEAL.

The installation was easy, step by step instructions. The phone call with the technician on the day of activation went smoothly, he stayed on the phone for as long as I wanted to. The follow up calls and emails were genuine concern and satisfaction of me the consumer. No contract, the price, and the RF frequency wireless technology were the 3 things that got me. Other companies prices were way too expensive, you had to have a long term contract, and there were penalties for cancelling, that drove me to Live Watch. I have Comcast TV, Internet & phone, and they would not give me a break with the bundle. The only reason I still have Comcast when I had it in Boston before I moved to SC, was to keep my email, but I scaled down all the other movie stations. I was literally a "New" customer when I moved but the price was almost the same as when I was in MA. Sorry Comcast, this is the truth. I would recommend Live Watch to anybody. Look at the packages, price, and value.

I paid $500 for the system and half of the shipped equipment did not work. I spent many hours trying to make it work in my home but it would not. I received a return authorization from LiveWatch and now they say they will refund my $500, but they will not pay for the cost of returning the equipment. So I'm out of pocket for the $27 shipping, after having spent several weeks to order it, try to set it up, wait for their technician appointment, box it up for return, etc. The equipment was defective. Why won't they pay for the return shipping??

A few weeks ago, I ordered a fairly basic security system. It was shipped to me UPS overnight. When it arrived, by then I had decided that I didn't want a system with mandatory monitoring, since we are home most of the time. I called them, and returned the package (with unopened pkgs inside. I had to pay the freight charges of over $30 dollars. 5 days later I called to check that the pkg had been received. This was over a week ago, yet I haven't been refunded the price of the system. I called them 3 days ago, and they still hadn't initiated the debit back to my account! I am very upset about how this refund/return has been handled. Yes, they will take payment immediately at the time of placing the order, yet they fritter around and play games when it comes to giving a refund. I recommend caution when dealing with this company, should you not be satisfied with the product!

I had an existing hardwired system which was no longer functioning, so I knew what I needed and I knew that no company's standard package would be adequate. I also have no aversion to DIY projects. In fact, I went beyond the usual by using the old system's wiring to power my three panels remotely, thus eliminating any exposed wiring. My system included 23 window, 2 door sensors, 3 smoke detectors and one CO2 sensor in an old (150+ years) house. I encountered some issues after installing the system. One of the door sensors would not work, apparently due to its installation on a steel door, as the adjacent 6 window detectors in the same room functioned properly. One of the window sensors in the basement repeatedly signaled a failure. Without pushing too hard, I didn't get any meaningful help from LiveWatch. I just purchased a couple of concealed (recessed) door sensors which mount in the jamb and a signal repeater from sources other than LiveWatch, as they listed neither on their web site. I also purchased two "IQ2" secondary panels elsewhere because one really needs a main or secondary panel at each door to confirm that the system is ready to arm or has been successfully disarmed, not to mention a disarming keypad. The main panel is located in the master bedroom where we can communicate with LiveWatch in the event of an alarm during sleep hours. Those additions resolved all my hardware issues, albeit at $150 additionally for each IQ2 and $34 for each door sensor. but I'm critical of LiveWatch for not asking anything about my home environment. Given that the distance between the main panel and the furthest sensor comes close to the maximum range of the system and that there are plaster walls and stone foundations, the need for a repeater should have been obvious to LiveWatch's security consultant. Likewise, the two keypads I ordered (and returned) would not satisfy my needs as they incorporate no more control than the 4 button key fobs - there's no feedback for system status. I have had one false alarm, which was prior to adding the repeater. It was apparently caused by the system not getting a closed signal from my exit door. The response was not as quick as I expected. I was in my car about 1/2 mile from home before I received a call on my cell phone. I estimate this took about 3 minutes. Everything seems to be working flawlessly now. The LiveWatch people are very pleasant to deal with, but their knowledge seems to be focused on their simple, package systems consisting of a couple of window/door sensors and a motion detector. If you have some expertise, as I do, that's fine. Just expect to take some additional steps and expense to remedy the system's shortcomings. If you have needs beyond the simple package and you don't possess any nerdy skills, find a local provider who can tailor a system to your site. Just make sure the equipment you purchase is portable and usable by others, like LiveWatch. On the equipment front, my system is based on the QOLSYS IQ panel, which is GE 319.5 Mhz compliant. There are lots of devices available on the market and lots of monitoring agencies can interface with it. It's also the most up-to-date system widely available. Despite my issues with LiveWatch, I maintain that I made a good choice in my selection. Of considerable importance is the lack of a contract and the portability of its use. If I do have a problem with their service or if they go belly-up, I can call many competitors who will be glad to provide monitoring services.

I have had Livewatch in my home for about 1 1/2 years now and I love them. They were so easy to purchase the initial system from and they have been great doing upgrades. I have upgraded my system gradually from just a couple of door/window sensors to now having sensors on every single door and window, motion sensors, cameras, light switches connected to the home automation portion, and smoke detectors. The system warns me all the people in the house are too far away from the house (1 mile) and the system is still disarmed, the ASPSer system is great for when we have an alarm, allowing us to talk to family members instantly in 1 chat room to see if it is a real alarm or not and can have police dispatched instantly as soon as we determine it is a real alarm. So happy I went with them and keep referring everyone I know to them as well. BTW, I have seen negative reviews about their tech support, I don't know who these people called but it must not have been Livewatch. Anytime I need to talk to a tech, they are great at resolving my issue right away and getting my system back up at 100%.

I did a ton of research looking for a no contract alarm company, in the end it was between Simplisafe and Livewatch. I decided on and bought my Livewatch system about 2 months ago because their equipment seems to be much further ahead in technology than Simplisafe. I also like that they are home automation compatible if i ever decide to go that route. I bought a simple system from them - touchscreen IQ panel, 3 door sensors, smoke alarm, and a glass break sensor (couldnt do motion sensor bc i have a large dog). Everyone i have dealt with knew their stuff and was very helpful and friendly. The setup was painless and i had no issues with any of the equipment. I have been charged exactly what i was told for the equipment, the activation, and the monitoring. I have not had any real incidents to "test" the system, but i do not doubt it will work as advertised. Livewatch seems to be an awesome company and i am glad i picked them.

This was our first ever security system, and I decided to first set up a very simple system with Lifewatch. A couple of year later, I added more sensors, including water sensors in case of a water leak. This was all reasonably easy to do. It does take some time and there is some learning involved. The system has worked flawlessly, and just last week the water sensors saved us from a catastrophic event when a water heater sprung a leak.

After reading my previous review, I received a call from the Company. They said they will fix all my problems. They sent me free 4 pcs of repeaters and then scheduled a time to help in installing them. Spent almost an hour on the phone. They also offered free two months of monitoring. The system worked well for few days. Again received a call in last Saturday requesting me to put additional reviews. Today again the system has started malfunctioning. The same problem again. This system is HORRIBLE, I would not recommend anybody to buy this system. In fact I am planning to return the system. I am a original buyer and I will never recommend this system to anybody.

I agree with basil's post the after sales service is horrible. Their lack of follow through with complaints, posts, or emails sent to their company further proves that the customers are NOT their #1 priority. The only thing that was a priority was getting me to sign up for their service and buy their products, but after that you will hear crickets. Good luck being able to get a hold of anyone, if you submit a help ticket you will get an automated reply saying that they will get back with you in one day or sooner. A week has now past, going on two, and still nothing. If anyone hears who actually runs this company and how to send them an actual letter of complaint, please post the information. I have been overly patient with this company, and the next step is to post my negative review on all social media websites as well as contacting the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint and give them a failing score. If you are a company that actually cares about its customers, and doesnt just give it lip service on your sales website, it is an easy fix. Follow through with the reported issues, actually call your customers back, and fix the problem. If not, please close you business or turn the company over to someone who actually cares about people and not just the money you so eagerly took during the sales call!

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. I am so frustrated that I wasted HOURS upon hours trying to set up and troubleshoot a system that never functioned properly. I tried adding additional z-wave repeaters as they suggested and the system worked for less than a day before I started getting notifications that doors were open (that were not open) and then that the system wasn't communicating with the panel. The system was not as advertised to begin with. It is not as simple as they claim it to be. The worse part is that they guaranty a full refund if you return all the equipment. I paid $900 for the equipment and was only refunded $700. I called twice and was on hold and transferred multiple times (both called lasted over 30 minutes) trying to get this resolved, both times I was assured I would be refunded the rest of the money I spent. It has been over a month and a half since then, and I have not been refunded. I have emailed and called more times and gotten no where. They are trying hard and have the right attitude, but there are a number of problems. The largest is technical support. They acknowledge this and are adding and training people, but wait time and varying responses including wrong answers are time consuming and difficult to undo or resolve. The general customer support seems to be better than the technical support, but they are stretched there also. They need to serious review their website and not state something is plug and play when it is not compatible with the system they are currently promoting. On the availability of add on devices there are some major gaps - garage door opener, links to popular temperature control devices, particularly the standard of the industy - Honeywell, there is no siren or strobe that will work, etc. They have a good basic idea, now they just have to work hard to make it functional, inclusive of needed and best add on devices and improve technical support and website descriptions of products so they are accurate.
