What sets Protect America apart the most from other home security companies is that there are no upfront costs. Instead, customers can pay for their equipment in their monthly bill with no interest charged. This makes Protect America one of the most affordable home security companies in the industry. While other companies will charge anywhere from $99 to over $1,000 in upfront costs, Protect America currently charges $0 in upfront fees. However, those who want to purchase their equipment outright still can.

If a customer wants to purchase devices from Protect America upfront, they definitely can and this will result in a lower monthly fee. Protect America has transparent pricing on their services and equipment. Other alarm companies require homeowners to call in and get a quote. Protect America displays all this information on their website and allows customers to get an instant quote by building their own home security system, or choosing from the company's packages.

Low Monthly Monitoring Fees

Protect America offers five different home security packages ranging from a locked-in rate starting at $19.99 per month (landline monitoring), one of the cheapest monthly monitoring packages available in the home security industry. Minimum monthly monitoring with cellular is $41.99/month, the same or lower than other companies. Monitoring includes free equipment (see above).

Once you sign a contract with Protect America, your rate is locked in. They will not raise your monthly monitoring fees as long as you are under contract.

3-Year Contract

One downside of Protect America is its 3-year (36-month) contract. Some home security companies offer their home security services with shorter contracts or no contracts at all; however, a 36-month contract is quite common within the industry. The reason companies can have shorter or no contract is because they require a customer to purchase the home security system upfront.

Cancellation Policy

If you do decide to cancel Protect America's services, you will be required to pay 100% of the remaining balance of your contract. Other home security companies may only require you to pay a percentage of the remaining balance. Paying the full balance can end up costing you hundreds of dollars if you haven't been on the contract very long. Be sure to research Protect America's terms before committing to a contract.

Motion Detectors: $99/each

There is also the option to install motion detectors. These motion sensors are easy to install, and they detect both heat and movement within a 25-foot range in a 90-degree arc. They can be installed in the corners of rooms, and it is recommended to put these in high traffic areas in your home.

Window and Door Sensors: $39/each

Protect America offers several different types of sensors. They have the door and window sensors which detect whenever the door or window is opened. The Protect America door and window sensors are wireless microsensors which means they do not have to be plugged into your wall and are hidden out of the way. It is advised that customers place a sensor on every door and window for optimum security.

Glassbreak detector: $99/each

Protect America's equipment includes a glassbreak detector. With this device, an alarm will trigger if glass breaks while your system is armed. The alarm works wirelessly and picks up sound within a 20-foot radius.

August Smart Lock Pro: $229

This is a deadbolt door lock that you can control from your mobile app for keyless access to your house. One of the Z-wave devices from Protect America.

Keychain remote: $49

Remote that you keep on your keys to arm and disarm the alarm at your home. Works up to 100 feet. Includes a flashlight and an alarm sound.

Indoor Camera: $100

Users will want to place Protect America's video surveillance cameras in high traffic areas, like by door entries/exits and hallways. Protect America enables users to view video surveillance through their "Smart Connect App." Live footage from the camera can be viewed at any time from anywhere as long as they have a WiFi connection. The camera starts recording during an alarm or as scheduled. Includes night vision and two-way audio.

When you sign up, you are committing to a 2 yr agreement and purchasing a lot of equipment. Once my items arrived and billing began is when I found that the wonderful deal the sales rep described was not so great. I fought it, but at that point it was too late. I had been deceived into the contract and commitment of the equipment. When I finally was able to cancel, the sales rep was promising me 6 mos of $10/month if I stayed and signed a new long-term contract (my bill was a whopping $52/month). When I asked for his statements to be sent to me immediately in writing, he agreed, and then began telling me it would be $10/OFF per month. Just signed up. The representative went out of his way to get me the best price and answered all of my questions. I read all of the cancellation reviews and getting a little scared. Does this company really not let you cancel after 3 years? My experience with adt makes protect america look like angels.

I live out in the country so it is really nice being able to have a security system for my home. I had the motion sensors on and at 2 o'clock in the morning, it detected my grandson and the alarm went off so I know this thing works. They're going to call you if the alarms go off. Protect America is a good company.

I felt that they were very helpful with questions when I first contacted them. They answered all my questions beforehand and went through it step by step on how to pus the monitors on the windows and doors. I am happy with it so far, I feel a lot more secure at night when my husband is out of town.

The WORST COMPANY EVER they DO NOT explain everything you need to know about the contract. Any services you need you have to pay a certain amount PER HOUR. THE CONTRACT IS FOR 5 YEARS IF YOU WANT TO CANCEL OUT THEY HIT YOU WITH $3,600.00 FEE TO BREAK CONTRACT CAMERAS ARE CONSTANTLY NOT WORKING DUE TO TECHNICAL ISSUES ITS TIME THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU GETS INVOLVED FOR DEFRAUDING CUSTOMERS. Outdated mobile app! Equipment is all over the place and the cancellation policy too strict! I wish I had followed up with my boyfriend before he chose this. I would have never followed through!!!!!

This company sucks do not sign up with them or you will be locked in a contract that you can't cancel, they are cons...after two years of being with them, I told them I was moving out of my house and they said there was nothing they can do to cancel my alarm... it's horrible customer service I wasted 30 minutes on the phone, trust me maybe these are fake reviews

They harrass you by calling 9 to 10 times a day when I just wanted an online quote. I would never do business with a company that harrasses you. Never again. I called and asked to be added to the 'Do Not Call' list and the sales rep hung up in my face. His name was Jason. It was poor customer service. I would never give them a dime of my money and I will continue to look for an alarm company.

My daughter and her children moved into a rental home. I had concerns for their safety because they were by themselves, so I did my research and felt that the best service would be Protect America. My daughter eventually purchased a home. When it came time to cancel our service we were told we had to give a 30 day notice even though we didn't live in the house for that 30 days, it wasn't our contract. So that was acceptable however the notice was given in July 2018 here it is April 4th 2019 and they are still taking $60 a month out of my daughter's account and hassling her about canceling our service. They said she gave him the wrong email they said she didn't call soon enough it's been one excuse after another. My daughter is extremely ill she's going blind she needs this money for medical bills. I called and try to explain they were very empathetic very good customer service but told me that there was really nothing they could do and they finally agreed to give us a $200 refund on what they had taken out. To help us out they agreed not to hold next month's payment out and if she signed the new email they sent out right away they would go ahead and cancel it but as of now it's still current and in effect. I could not recommend this company to anybody. You should care about your customers and if you read the reviews for Protect America you can see when it comes to the cancellation service it's very difficult to get them to stop their service and they try to continue as long as possible to receive payments.
