While other companies will charge anywhere from $99 to over $1,000 in upfront costs, Protect America currently charges $0 in upfront fees. However, those who want to purchase their equipment outright still can.

If a customer wants to purchase devices from Protect America upfront, they definitely can and this will result in a lower monthly fee. Protect America has transparent pricing on their services and equipment. Other alarm companies require homeowners to call in and get a quote. Low Monthly Monitoring Fees

Protect America offers five different home security packages ranging from a locked-in rate starting at $19.99 per month (landline monitoring), one of the cheapest monthly monitoring packages available in the home security industry. 3-Year Contract

One downside of Protect America is its 3-year (36-month) contract. Some home security companies offer their home security services with shorter contracts or no contracts at all; however, a 36-month contract is quite common within the industry. The reason companies can have shorter or no contract is because they require a customer to purchase the home security system upfront.

Cancellation Policy

If you do decide to cancel Protect America's services, you will be required to pay 100% of the remaining balance of your contract. Other home security companies may only require you to pay a percentage of the remaining balance. Window and Door Sensors: $39/each

Protect America offers several different types of sensors. They have the door and window sensors which detect whenever the door or window is opened. The Protect America door and window sensors are wireless microsensors which means they do not have to be plugged into your wall and are hidden out of the way. It is advised that customers place a sensor on every door and window for optimum security.

Glassbreak detector: $99/each

Protect America's equipment includes a glassbreak detector. With this device, an alarm will trigger if glass breaks while your system is armed. The alarm works wirelessly and picks up sound within a 20-foot radius.

This is a deadbolt door lock that you can control from your mobile app for keyless access to your house. One of the Z-wave devices from Protect America.

Indoor Camera: $100

Have had the system for 4 months. Great customer service from info gathering to buying and finally to set up. With the cell phone connection you can do everything from the app. Arm, disarm, check entry history. The yard signs are cool....solar lit at night. Initially when I began to write this comment it was going to be negative. I have had numerous problems with my control panel since last year when I initially installed it. This time I was waiting for a new battery because the one inside is leaking and it could not send a signal to the monitoring station. It’s been three weeks since my panel has sent a signal. One of those weeks I was waiting for the new battery which was going to be shipped over a week ago. I changed my mind when I spoke to Tamara who quickly went into action and ensured that I would receive a new panel instead of sending part after part and the panel still not working. Thanks again Tamara.

Setting up this alarm system was relativey simple. However, use of the main console in it's entirety can be challenging. I believe the Operating Manuals Technical Writers could have done a much better job in helping the uniiniated to under stand the complexities with the "system programming." Nonetheless, the help I've received from customer service personnel (over the phone) has been outstanding and makes up for the instructional shortcomings. Talked with three different personnel and all were very helpful. Plus I know if I encounter more challenges I can count on their help again. "Old timer with short attention span."

We had multiple issues with the product and components not working or coming off doors and then I had a terrible experience canceling my service after having it for more than four years! We called in December and gave them every necessary security to cancel. Then we gave an additional written notice on on our January bill but they still wouldn’t cancel. I gave them the correct email address for their “required” signature yet they sent to wrong email. And after four phone calls, long delays on phone calls they offered to send me a new email but it wouldn’t be accessible for 24 hours and expired in seven days! Then they tried to charge me for the additional months I was trying to cancel jumping through their illusions hoops! After all I went through, the multiple hassles, then the new cancellation email required me to pay for the extra months I didn’t have service before it would let me cancel. Finally I think I’m cancelled and recorded customer service team leader, Tiffanie , I get an email again asking for verification of my e signature!!

I have had other security companies in the past and while Protect America offers about the same security, I love their customer service (as well as the product). We have a few alarms go off and police were dispatched immediately. We just renewed our contract for another 3 years, with upgraded equipment and happy to be a customer of such a great company! Yes, yall can get our business!

Protect America refused to help my 84 year old mother 2 years in to her 3 year contract after my father passed away. Her doctor deemed her medically disabled and she moved in with my sister who already has a system. Even with ADA designation and a doctors letter, Protect America expects 100% of contract even though they are no longer monitoring any system on her behalf. Received 4 conflicting resolutions from PA personnel, from no problem she is disabled and we will cancel after you are transferred to that department, to we will absolutely nothing to resolve this problem. It takes 24-48 hours to speak to a supervisor. Protect America deserves a negative number. I am appalled by their lack of reasonable service

I dont remember having a contract, as soon as my contract was over i called to cancel, on the phone for a long time. the agent said i have to give a 30 day notice which is a bunch of crap when your contract is over and you fulfilled the time it should be over. DONT DO BUSINESS.WITH THIS COMPANY

They have been okay so far. Customer service is absolutely amazing, minus one call which made me feel as though I was a complete idiot. My concerns are that sometimes when I pick the house and wait for the final beep, people will still be able to come in without the alarm going off. My partner (who lives with me) was also kicked out of our house once by the cops after one of the reps sounded the emergency code and the cops thought she was a burglar. So that was not a fond experience.

I signed a 3 year contract 13 months ago in a house that I owned. I just sold my house and per the contract home security, intercom, and home surveillance systems are to stay in the house and considered personal property such as the blinds, curtains, etc. Protect America has zero concern that you are moving and the equipment has to stay. They just want their monthly money or the remaining balance in full. Needless to say they will NOT be going in my new home NOR will i suggest to anyone else to use them. Equipment - in addition, i had the extra key pad which they could never get to work nor would they replace it for me. The cameras both stopped working. Getting them to fix it over the phone or in person is almost impossible. They refer you to their website etc. So the last year I haven't even used the crappy stuff.

I've had this system for 7+ years, easy to set up, I understand they have newer system available , may try it but the old ones working great. The motion sensor to me is the most important part, even if they get through door/window the motion sensor picks up signal very quick. Also great protection for family member that's left alone when everyone else leaves for work, My most recent experience was with cust service Mark, very helpful and professional. He offered new products and told me the features, we discussed pros & cons and their was no high pressure sales, he thanked me for being long time customer and said they were always available.if I needed anything. Wish more larger American companies would take notice and learn what excellent customer should be like!

I just bought my first home (yay!), and it already had ADT installed. I didn't really need the new equipment,but they were actually able to use my existing equipment, and didn't pressure me into something I didn't need. HUGE props. Thanks guys!

I just spent an hour on the phone with Pete, who must have lots of patience. He walked me through each step for downloading my system onto my iphone. He was most helpful, and encouraging - even when I wasn't sure I could disconnect my system. I did succeed in getting my iphone programmed -thanks to Pete. At 73 years old I feel very "high tech".

I posted a review on here in November, when I experienced a total Protect America failure at all levels: customer service, equipment, emergency number, website, etc. Since then, I have tried multiple times to cancel account and have not had any service since then. Yet, they continue to bill me, pretend to set up call-back times and don't call at the scheduled times but instead on different days at random times when I'm not available, and then claim they called back as scheduled. They are also trying to extort 6 months of payments in exchange for ending my contract, ignoring the fact that their service has failed, which itself is a violation of the contract and grounds for termination. Is anyone interested in joining a class action lawsuit action the company? I am looking into that now.

HORRIBLE! Tried o switch from ADT...NO THANK YOU! Customer Service is awful, hold time is very long EVERY TIME that you call. You have to install equipment yourself, equipment is to be place with Velcro sticky on walls....TACKY! To return the equipment you have to pay for return OUT OF POCKET!!! DON’T DO IT, WORST SERVICE EVER!!

Been with this company for 7 years, started out great, since mid 2018 their customer service has taken a catastrophic turn for the worst. Sales will pick up the line immediately however service is non existent. Hard to say if they can be reliable in the event of a problem. Have spent hours trying to reach them for a simple problem. Stay away is my recommendation.

This company has intentionally deceptive billing and cancellation processes. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the CFPB, but suffice it to say, you need to select a different provider. They refuse to allow you to submit your cancellation request unless it's within 30 days of your last contracted service date BUT then they will tell you your service cancellation won't take place until the 'following billing cycle' which means you are paying for 2+ additional months. When you try to call them to cancel, they will transfer you multiple times, put you on hold for 20+ minutes and try to get you to stay with many (many) upsell/continue service offers. All in all, I was on the phone with them for almost an hour to simply cancel the service. Then, they say you need to sign a PDF cancellation document that will arrive via email in 3-5 business days (again possibly pushing you into their next arbitrary billing cycle, making you pay for additional months of the service). I have found that, although I personally signed the cancellation document in October, I still see them charging my credit card today - January 19th. I have issued a chargeback with my card, but this is ridiculous. Stay away from this horrible company.

Terrible customer service, terrible service, the installers who "attempted" to help were less than helpful and acted like it was a chore to assist. When attempting to cancel service the runaround to actually speak with someone was so ridiculous that I was sitting on hold for over 30 minutes before finally giving up. I sent the equipment back within 30 days, the contract was unclear on what constituted cancellation and they continued to charge my account without having any equipment actually being monitored. Then they refused to cancel the contract and stated I had to pay for all the years. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Use Vivint or Ring

In July of 2018 I called Protect America to cancel my service since I was moving out of state. The agent stated that they would reduce my charge to $9.99 to hold my service to see if I wanted to reinstate it once I got re-established in my new home. Due to past experiences I chose to go with another company. I expected a $9.99 charge. Later I noticed that Protect America had continued to charge for my services at the previous address even though I had not lived there for months. They never charged the agreed upon amount of $9.99 but charged the complete amount each and every month. After a lengthy discussion with their credit department on 11/14/2018, the manager agreed that I would only pay a portion of the now large amount due. I had her send me an email stating our agreement and that the account was paid in full and closed out since I no longer trusted a verbal conversation with Protect America. On 1/14/2019 I received another bill requesting another payment as the account was never closed as was stated verbally and also in writing. BEWARE IF YOU EVER HAVE TO CANCEL SERVICE. YOU MAY NEVER STOP RECEIVING A BILL NO MATTER WHAT IS TOLD TO YOU!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A RACKET!!!

The length of the term was never made clear to me or the fact that there was even some sort of contract. I am moving to another place with someone who already has the same alarm service and Protect America has not been helpful in providing options to me. I either pay TWO years of service or transfer my service to someone else. Thanks a lot “Protect America”. I also chatted with someone on the customer service team who was very rude. When I told her I preferred to call customer service and have a more direct conversation she replied with “I am customer service ma”am”.

I've had the same problems as many other folks commenting here. The panel and keychain devices are cheaply made and fall apart easily, when the alarm goes off for no real reason, it's impossible to reach anyone to have them turn it off, I've spent hours on the phone on hold trying to get a hold of customer service reps and supervisors. To boot, they refuse to cancel my contract with having to fork over hundreds of dollars even though their products and service are defective. I would never recommend Protect America to any homeowner. They are atrocious. The only way to get them to change their terrible practices is to shame them publicly. I've tweeted at them, and I encourage others to use social media against them as well.

Extremely difficult to cancel. I called 3 separate times and signed email to cancel and they still billed my bank account. They would not refund me the bill. Very frustrated and I feel robbed. Their customer service have very nice people but I don’t trust them.

The sensors failed all the time and the equipment is bulky and outdated. But when you try to cancel they make you pay the full amount of the three year contract. Avoid these people if you value your money. So many other services out there -- like Ring -- where you can get better equipment for less money and no contract. This pyramid scheme will hopefully be out of business soon.
