3-Year Contract

One downside of Protect America Home Security is its 3-year (36-month) contract.

Cancellation Policy

Indoor Camera: $100

HORRIBLE customer service. I was lead to believe that I would be billed after installation of system. I was charged for a month of service which was not monitoring ANYTHING as the system was still in the box and I was still waiting to close on my house. I figured Protect America would be decent enough to refund me the month charge. I am shocked that a company would not do the right thing for the sake of customer service

It seems as though customer service might be having multiple chats going on at the same time. I tend to like quick responses as I reply quickly. Keep doing what you do It was faster then the phone. We've had Protect America for four months now. Here's our experience. The system is not in the least easy to install, my husband, who was smart enough to build our house had a hard time figuring out what he was supposed to do. Turns out newer homes with side-by-side windows, not older double-hung windows need two sensors, one for each side of the crank-out, so we were short on sensors right from the start, no one thought to ask. Then, since our house was built with 6-inch wall construction, we had to pay for extra sensor adaptors, again, no one thought to ask us about that. After waiting forever on hold to install and set up the system, it turned out we had a faulty control panel and had to send it back and wait for another unit, then re-program the new one...more wait time...lots more wait time. We have spent hours on the phone both on hold and with representatives, some claiming to be experts, others not so much. We're locked into a two or three year contract, so we're stuck. My advice: Pay someone to come to your home and give you an estimate for installation and service. We are paying $65.99 per month for service, I don't know how we got there from the $19.99 per month they advertised. Also, every time we call they try to sell us another add-on to our system, we went for it the first few times, now we're done. Monthly testing of the system turned out to be a nightmare as well, turns out they were not receiving a signal from us and so far have not been able to resolve the problem, we were told to call back in two hours, we did, then we were told to call back in 48 to 72 hours, maybe it would be fixed by then. In the meantime, I guess we're on our own. Did I mention: Lots of time spent on hold...lots and lots of time spent on hold. We will cancel this contract as soon as it comes due in two or three years, as soon as possible.
