Unethical company. My home burned to the ground in 2011, and this company kept billing my credit card the monthly fee for a whole year, before I got them to stop. They have never refunded the nearly $400 they took from me. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!

The entire time that i was covered with PA i was satisfied. However, the moment came when i could no longer take care of myaelf. I moved in with my sister and no longer could continue using PA as my sister had a security system at her home. Now PA is threatening to ruin my credit as the man my sister spoke to "if your brother cannot pay, we will report this to all three credit reporting agencies". So buyer, just go month to month.

I would not recommend this company because they are misleading, negligent and will take advantage of you at every chance they get. The reason I obtained home protection was due to a stalking situation. Two times protect america contacted me that my alarm sensors have been broken. They were unable to discharge police because of their inability to contact the right police department. Now that my contract was over I contacted them at the end of the month. They took down my information and reported they would call me back. I never received a call so I called back two weeks after. They then asked me to send an email. Its been three weeks and now they are making me pay an extra month because of their negligence once again. They have record of the first time I called, but they will not honor that day. They are disregarding their negligence and instead taking advantage of getting my money for another month. I will definitely share my negative experience every time anyone I know is considering them.

What are the charges to download images for reporting a burglary to the police and the insurance companies? Does your company hold the rights to download images? Some companies charge up to $200 to download images. The 395 complaints is far too many to be overlooked.

I have been with PA for 7 years. They always take really good care of me when I call for help. They walk you through the installation which is super easy. After being a long time customer, they upgraded my equipment and even added some additional sensors. I really feel safe in my home now. I initially called them after my house was broken into. I can't tell you how safe I feel and confident that my things will not be stolen again. I highly recommend this company.

I have had so many problems with their equipment in the past 3 years. Sensors don't work all the time, they fall off the wall because of the sticky tabs they give you to install the system. And for the past 6 months my system beeps every 4 hours saying low battery. When I call the company to fix the beeping, they have no clue how to fix it. They go through steps then tell me it will quit beeping within 48 hours. And it never does. Also you have to test your system monthly. Call up the company, sit on the phone and test it. How stupid is that? I don't have time to call a company monthly to "test" my system that should work. I went as cheap as I could when I got the system 3 years ago because I was strapped for cash. But my monthly payment is $43.99, when I look at what others are paying I get very angry. How are people paying half of what I am every month? Doesn't make much sense. Lets charge one person one thing and another something completely different! Not okay with me. I'm done with this company and would never recommend them to anyone.

Protect America is great! Been with them for 10 years. If I have issues with my system they are quick to help. There Chat is great and easy to use. I just signed a new contract where they gave me new equipment to upgrade my entire system at no cost. I did have to take an increase in monitoring monthly, but that is a small price to pay for all the free equipment, and the new cellular monitoring. If these people are having issues it is because they have not let someone there know because every time I get issues they always fixem.

We wanted to switch to Protect America. We waited several days for the equipment necessary for that switch. When the equipment arrived it was the wrong equipment. Protect America apologized and said that the error was their fault. We waited another week plus for the correct equipment. When the correct equipment arrived, it was broken. We told them that we'd had it. They said they would refund our money. They said that the errors were all their fault. When I called to ask where the refund was, I was told that I should be happy that they only took that much, the "normal" restocking fee was twice what I paid.

I wanted to read some reviews and shockingly WoW! Ok for the late payment thing, my bill is to be paid thru my debit. This company is amazing, it has been times that they could not debit my card and they send me a bill. There is no harassing phone calls.What a Blessing.My sensors too have fallen and off twice during hot South heat. I bought some glue and like a snap no more problems.I don't call unless I have too. Wake up people do some things on your own instead of calling someone to do it for you. That's what this is DIY system. Please don't trash a company because of your frustration with equipment or customer service. Always ask for an on duty supervisor. Thank you.

They sell you a service that you can't cancel while not in use. You are unable to sell back the equipment after use so that they resell it as refurbished. Different departments had different pass codes for me causing issues with verification when I set off a false alarm because communication is not handled properly within the company. They stated I had a zero balance when I was able to activate a hibernation for three months at a rate of 4.99, only to be charged the following month and not have a record of the conversation. Was told on a second call that the hibernation can only be for 2 months. Don't get the bills monthly. If an alarm goes off the only call you one time and even then not leave a message every time. Service is so terrible that you end up paying for equipment you will never use again because you want nothing to do with the company. The system is easily hackable.

ITS GREAT HOWEVER you have to install it yourself. I have Protect America myself and love it. The install was actually super easy. It is all wireless and only took about 20 minutes. I can control the whole system from my phone and even view a live feed from the camera. There is no equipment cost, activation or installation charges. Packages start as low as 19.99. I am only paying $60 per month and I have 14 door and window sensors with one motion and a camera and the smart connect app.

I have had service with protect america for months however the system did not work and has not worked since installed but I'm stuck in a contract with this company. This is the worst company to do business with, a month after installing system my house was broken into and the system did not even call the police I had to leave my vacation early. Next point, my family and I are leaveing to move out of the US to do work .. I called to cancel service but have been paying for a system that does not work because of contract anyways they told me I had to still pay full contract terms ... Do not do business with this company at all.....

I just want to change my review rating from a 2 to a 10 now that I have recieved my new unit and have talked to several ppl over the phone with their company . I had a lady call me personally to try and fix any problems that I went thru and they even credited my bill for the time I was down ! They really went above and beyond to get any problem resolved so far ! We are still workin and trying new things with the cellular serv because I am no getting a good reception inside my home . But protect America is a fine company to deal with ! I am staying with them as long as I'm alive because they are cheaper and better than any other provider that I have talked with and tried to deal with ! So yes thank you protect America for your help and I appologize for jumping the gun and not getting ahold of the right ppl to deal with ! You have made me again a proud and happy customer !

Bad Custer service, got my package and the door sensors don't work, they said they would send better magnets, I got a bag of tape. Had to call them again, Said I got the wrong type of magnets for my doors, said they would send correct ones, STILL no magnets After a week of waiting, so I called again, now they said they were sent by mail, really?? They gave me a tracking number which does not show up Every cs agent tells you a different story about how the item was sent. This company maybe in the top 5 but not for long with this type of service

I have been a loyal customer for 14 years now and had to get a new cellular serv Module from them and has taking almost two weeks just to get it shipped out to me and I had to threaten them with cancelation of serv to get it over nighted to me ! Up until now I have been happy but has went down hill very fast !! Pay a little more and go with another provider!!!

I purchased a wireless HoneyWell system with a cellular backup years ago (didn't want a landline setup as I haven't had a landline in over 10 years). When i sold my house I gave the alarm system it to my parents. It was still in contract with the original alarm company (cant remember its name) so it was no big deal. Just moved it to their house and they took over the payments. Unfortunately the contract was sold to another monitoring company and then another. I think we went through 3-4 monitoring companies in like 7 years. Each time the price went up a few bucks. The last company was charging like $40 a month to monitor so once the last contract ended, I switched over to Protect America. I gave them an 8/10 rating because I needed to use their control panel, their cellular unit (inside the panel), and because the smoke detectors and key fobs didn't work with their system. But the wireless door/window sensors, necklace sensor (for my mom), glass breakage sensors, and motion sensors all worked fine. They also gave me a good deal on new key fobs (think it was like 1/2 off for 2). Was pretty easy to set everything up while on the phone with customer service. They even helped me name all the sensors online an on the panel so I know which sensors have gone off. My parents birds and dog do not set off the system. The only big problem we had was that my parents have thick concrete walls and the cellular antenna could not get a signal. It was only like 3' long so they sent me a longer one (which took a little bit of work talking to a supervisor and then a manager to get it for no charge) but it works fine. Its like 15'-20' long so I ran it up the wall, through the ceiling, and placed it on a roof rafter at the highest point on the house. We now get a 8-10/10 cellular signal strength. They have internet systems too, but I don't trust the Time Warner internet up-time (it goes down at least twice a month). Plus, I set my parents up with Ooma VOIP phone service and I wanted to make sure that even if the internet goes down, the alarm signal will still work, even with a power outage as the system has a battery backup. Since the install there has been absolutely no problems with the system. They even call us when batteries need to be replaced, which is really easy to do. I just call them and tell them I'm putting the system into test mode, swap out the batteries (which I get on ebay/amazon) and then call and take the system out of test mode. I would of liked to of gotten the smoke detectors from them but they currently cost $60 each so we are going to wait for now. The iphone app works perfectly to arm/disarm the system and you can set up the system to send out emails/texts online to see who is arming/disarming the system. It will also email/text you when a sensor is going bad/needs a new battery, or if the alarm goes off. They even warranty all the equipment, even the original sensors that I used with their alarm panel, so that's nice. All in all I like Protect America, but I wish that it wasn't a 3 year contract as I have come across other monitoring companies where I can lower the $29 a month bill down to $8-$21 depending on the kind on monitoring package I want (see http://www.geoarm.com/). My mother-in-law currently has the exact alarm system that I gave my parents (father-in-law purchased it around the same time I got mine) but she currently pays $47 per moth to ADT to monitor. I'll be calling GeoArm.com today to see if I can get a better deal than Protect America, but if I can't, I'll definitely switch her over to Protect America. If you are tech savy, or know someone who is, I highly recommend Protect America. If you cannot at least program your DVR/TV or would never think about opening up your computer, I would recommend you go to another company that does the installation for you. It may cost you more, but at least your system will get installed. But if you can follow directions (especially over the phone) open the panel to set it into program mode (by pushing a small button a few times), are handy with a drill, know how to set wall anchors and screws, and can hang up the sensors, then I say give them a try. But remember, its a 3 year contract. If you have your own system, call them and make sure your current system will work, otherwise, I would recommend purchasing their equipment.

I have had problems with my Protect America System almost since I signed my second contract with them almost three years ago. For the first fifteen year I was with them, almost no problems. the equipment now is definitely second-rate. Velcro fasteners and batteries. The battery in my motion detector has to be replaced about every two months, and each time I must spend 30 minutes to an hour on the phone with a customer service rep. The monitoring company did not even respond twice when I set the alarm off in the middle of the night. Recently I have had problems almost on a daily basis. Spent about two hours on the phone with this company a couple times on my day off. Loads of fun! Last week when called by the monitoring company, I was home and the alarm was not even armed! Last night while I was working the alarm went off again. Said it was the motion sensor again. However, I did not have the motion set. Today I tried to set alarm to leave my home, and it said back door was open. It wasn't. Now it will not set at all. When I called Protect America, their representative was totally bored obviously. I could almost hear her YAWNING AND ROLLING HER EYES! While I don't think any company is better then another, the lack of response at Protect America is alarming!! Use someone else!!

So, I signed up for 3 years contract and this company is really really serious about your 3 years contract. Keep that in mind guys, because I used their security protection plan for over 2 years and half and I tried to ask if they can waive the last 7 months or pay a small amount of early termination fee for working abroad and they pretty much said "no". So if you think your house really worth to protect within 3 years then sign up for it. Otherwise, think careful.

Customer service is horrible, Whenever I call I have to wait a minimum of 45 minutes to speak with someone. Techs aren't as knowledgable as you would expect, most of the time they end up transferring you to someone else so be prepared for another 20-25 minute hold. Contract term is too long (3 years). If you are late on your payment billing calls you asap. I know this because whenever I have any questions my new method to getting them answered is to miss a payment so they can call me and I can ask whatever I need to. Works Everytime. I think it would be safe to say that 70% of their employees are billing specialists, 25% are sales reps, and 5% are technicians of which 2% know what they're doing.
