Low Monthly Monitoring Fees

3-Year Contract

One downside of Protect America is its 3-year (36-month) contract. Cancellation Policy

If you do decide to cancel Protect America's services, you will be required to pay 100% of the remaining balance of your contract. None of the products worked. Window clings don't work in Florida, they use a cheap velcro that melts to your surface. They are an absolute horrid company to deal with.

I did not choose this system. I was happy with the system we had. This system was delivered but no technician shows up to install the hardware or do the setup. Who has time to do their job for them? We have already been without a security system for two weeks because this change was made, and now it's still not set up because amateurs have to do all this reading and try to learn it. This is too important to be without a system and then have amateurs program it. What happened to service anymore. We don't even plan to use half of this stuff, and it sounds like we are going to have false alarms when the windows won't stay closed. How loud is the alarm? Can you adjust it? I'm not trying to deafen occupants and burglars. I just want the burglars to know they have tripped an alarm and they should get out, and I want to know they have entered so I can defend the house. It doesn't have to be complicated or the alarm be 200 decibels.

Do not use Protect America security service, you pay for the equipment that you need to install the sensors have velcro that deteriorates and this company never answers the phone for any emergencies or for customer service. They only answer the phone when you are a new customer and you get stuck for 3 years. Protect America has the worst security service.

I signed up for new service about a week ago. I called back before I even received my equipment because I didn’t want to enter in to their contract and they made me speak with three different people who continued pressuring me in to trying their service. I said fine as I had already spent an hour on the phone trying to cancel. I received my equipment last Tuesday October 10th. Got it set up the 12th. I still wish to cancel within my 15 days as per the contract agreement and am again on hold for more than 30 minutes this morning trying to cancel. No one has come on the line as of yet. This public post should serve as my written notice WITHIN MY 15 DAYS THAT I WANT TO CANCEL MY CONTRACT!!! Please someone acknowledge this so that I am not locked in through pure poor customer service. I will never do business with your company, nor will I recommend you to anyone. In fact, I will give negative reviews to anyone I can. Again, I am publicly giving written notice I am cancelling my contract as per the conditions provided on cancellation and will be returning your equipment. I am still on hold as I am writing this review. Please stay away from this company. Their offer of a free trial will result in them roping you in to a long term contract because they make it impossible to cancel. They were quick to call more than ten times a day to get your business, but make themselves unavailable at all other times.

This company is something I would stay away from--the problems ranging from poor customer service inflexibility and automatic renewal without checking for a lengthy period of time. We recently moved to another state and tried to cancel the service after many years of being with them (automatic renewal without notice), these people would not give any break. All our pleas went to deaf ears and they threw the book at us. Stay away form these type of organizations.

Does not actually provide security. The systems are cheap, and when they fail to perform basic functions, the company hides behind long term contracts to keep you paying monthly. Very frustrating, have tried many times to cancel or get something that works...countless hours testing my patience with customer service, tech support, and upper management. Can't wait until my contract is expired so I can get away from this company.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!!! Please save your time, money and peace of mind. Customer service is terrible, hence why I do not wish to deal with the company. The equipment has NEVER worked and I am stuck paying for a service I do not use for 3 years. I am almost to the point of just letting it go to collections and figuring it out from there. They are thieves, please do not even consider this company. I wish I had read the reviews before choosing them.

I have been a customer for 5 years and was told that I could not cancel my service, my camera never worked the sensors fell down after 2 years. The customer service is awful, wait time to talk to someone is very long. I am 65 years old and do not feel safe in my own home with this service and they will not let you out of it. Do NOT use this company! Others are less expensive and gives you more. Everything must be installed yourself and is difficult to do.

False advertisement, false alarm so the cops show up and gives you a citation, bad customer service such as they will put you on a long hold and redirect you to as many people as possible if you are a new customer they will speak to you really fast. Remember that you are getting in a 3 year contract with them before you sign any paper. Overall they are a bad scamming company who drinks your blood dry. Stay far away from them cause they are money hungry and will try every way to make you stay. Even after my three year contract they try to get another another month off of me for termination. By signing that contract they saying that they will charge me an extra x amount for that month that I won’t be using. Simple put them out there so no one else gets into the circle of death. They’re the true genius, the true burglary out there so be on your toes. They will get every ounce of money from you as they can. I would highly not recommend them to my friends and family.

Horrible customer service and awful to have service cancelled. I have tried since April to cancel contract...now it is September and I am still fighting with them! They constantly want to keep my service going and then find some reason to charge me more, saying they are giving me a "discount", when the service should have been terminated at my requested months ago (well past the 36 month contract). Dont trust them as I did!!

The monthly price for the security system was good for my budget. However, I decided to sell my home, and had vector to come out and service my system. I didn't realize I was signing a new contract. Now vector is charging me the remainder of the contract. The service tech is not going to tell you. Please read the contract.....

Wish we had NEVER gone with this company for our security!!! Once installed no technician is available to service the cameras if they go offline, which ours have, 2 of them been offline for months and when we call there is a terrible wait time unless you want to enter your callback number & wait for them to call you back, then if you are busy you miss the call and you have to go back through all this again! Once you are lucky enough to get a representative on the phone & you explain your issue, they are more than apologetic and more than willing to "walk you through" how to service your cameras?? Um I'm sorry last time I checked I have a job and I am not asking someone else to do it. Also we were told we would get 3 cameras at our house & we got zero, when I called to ask for the recorded call to be sent to me I did get a call back that said yes you were supposed to get one camera, we must have missed that....really? okay and we were never told the camera that we did install at our business doesn't even record unless you have a sims card? Okay where was that information again they are very apologetic that we weren't told that but they can tell us where we can purchase one and how to put it in..Oh and one of the main reasons we went with Protect America is the video recordings, well when you go look at the video recordings it is of us walking in and out upon open and close! Where is the video of the drunk guy passed out on our sidewalk and the police taking him to jail right before we opened? Oh it is not there. So once again I am on hold for over 8 minutes because "they are experiencing higher than normal call volumes". Well I guess they are if everyone is as unhappy as we are with this so called security system and we are paying 47.00 per month for our business and 51.00 for our home and for what, window monitors? No cameras, no recorded video, who said this is one of the most affordable out there?

This is a terrible failing company on the way down. I got their product and canceled. It worked sporadically and felt cheap and outdated. The camera quality was terrible, not to mention expensive. I went with a few nest products and xfinity home.

Had a horrible experience cancelling my service with Protect America. I requested two months ago to cancel. They told me that they will be sending documents for me fill out over email and a phone call. I didn't receive either for over a month. I got charged again so when I contacted another time to tell them I didn't get anything, I went through the whole process again to find out that they wrote my email down wrong the first time. I told them the correct email and they said the would email and call me. Again, I didn't receive ANYTHING. This is two months now after I contacted them in the first place to cancel. I contact them again and they say they have the right email address but they STILL sent it to the WRONG EMAIL after I told them the right email address. I told them I wanted refunded for these two months that they were supposed to have canceled my account but they made the excuse that they sent the cancellation requests to the email even though it was wrong, so they couldn't refund me.

Most of these positive reviews must be fake. Signing a contract with this company was seriously one of the worst decisions of my life. The equipment was incredibly old, cheap, and never worked. They rope you in with the $19.99 price but, in reality, you will not be paying less than $49.99. Once the 36 month contract is finished they will make it very hard to cancel an auto-renewing month-to-month contract, bullying you in to paying for additional months that you did not sign up for. In all, I gave them over $1,800 for a service they never provided. Look at the Yelp reviews (which are vetted for fakes). This company should be put out of business...they are thieves.

Beware if you get this service! Cancellation is NOT a option. I had the service in my first home. Moved states and will continue to pay another two years even though I don’t use it. The person who bought my house doesn’t use it or want it either. I literally pay a monthly fee for absolutely no reason other than I can’t cancel until next year due to their 36 month agreement that you must sign to get the service. I wouldn’t recommend this service for that reason alone. I hope the company feels better about robbing innocent people.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Had them 4 years, had outdated equipment and would not upgrade me after calling every so often. App is extremely slow. It wouldn't notify me for HOURS that my system was armed/disarmed. It was quite unnerving.Had multiple problems logging into the app because it was so slow. They are extremely expensive compare to the new ring system that I now have and am extremely happy with. They only charge $100 a YEAR for service and that's only if you want monitoring. I was paying $45 a MONTH with protect america. The final straw is the ridiculous cancellation policy. I cancelled yesterday August 3rd. I will have to still pay August AND September ($90 total) because I didn't cancel on the 30th of the month AND give 30 days notice. I gave TWENTY-EIGHT days. I understand it's my fault because after 4 years of being with them, I forgot the cancellation terms. STAY AWAY and look into cheaper,better and faster services like Ring.

Haven’t used mine in months, adhesives fell off after less than 6 months, would go off in middle of the night and scare us half to death, replaced the batteries in them several times of the course of the first 2 years I had it, then when I asked for an early termination fee etc. they made me pay full cancellation for a HORRIBLE experience. I was never late on any payments and quite frankly they charged me to much to begin with for crappy equipment!! Do not recommend. You can get good equipment and updated smart home equipment for the same monthly charge!

I was not too thrilled that the guy who came from Protect America to install my equipment drew a big hole in my wall. He was there for 6 hours as well, so the installation is terrible. But I would say its a good value for only about 30 bucks a month.

I think this company is very affordable, and I like that I can install it myself. I also like that they send me emails when someone goes in and out of my house. The equipment works well with no problems, and the system is modern and seems up to date. I do think Protect America should add free cameras or a door bell camera.

I really enjoy the ability I have to control my security system from my phone while I'm anywhere in the world. I think Protect America should make it so that their system is compatible with other components from other unknown name brand names. Like other systems, you have these all these other web cams work great together.

I love the motion sensors. Any time someone goes past them, or breaks in, the alarm is reported to police. Every time I've called into them, they respond every time and immediately. I do think the amount I pay every month is quite high.

"I did a lot of research on a couple companies before Protect America - they didnÕt work out. So I did some more digging around and finally compared Protect America to Vivint and Protect America got to me faster. They responded to my emails, calls, I liked their program, they fit within my budget, and we went with them. There have been a couple of times that I have called in for help, and they fulfill my request. The equipment is good, the only complaint I have is there are a couple of monitors that had two sided tape on them. They don't stick very well, but work when they need to. The camera is good, so generally I'm pleased. The equipment is accessible and easy to use."

I appreciate how patient customer support is with me. They send and tell me what I'm supposed to do. I like their equipment so much, that I'm thinking of ordering more. The dashboard is a little problem for me. I have to figure it out every time how to turn it on by hand. I wish I was more comfortable with turning it on instead of having to do it manually.

From what seen, the price is very reasonable and actually lower than some of the others. We needed to get the system in a hurry, and they worked with us to do that. They actually had it to us the next day as a matter of fact. We've had a couple of alarm situations, and they've been quick to call and resolve those with us. It's been a good experience overall. It's simple, easy to install, and works.

First of all I noticed Protect America's customer service. The person I dealt with explained everything so thoroughly and also they have the best deal by far. I had talked to A.D.T and there was quite a cost to us. I was able to get the equipment and install it ourselves and the equipment was free. A.D.T was going to be over a thousand dollars. Protect America was also very patient with us and took their time to explain things very well. The only thing was that they had a contract with the computer guys on the camera and I actually found that easy to install myself.

Every time I call them, I don't have to wait on the phone for too long. They're also very profession and very helpful. One day my wife came in and she put in the wrong code and she couldn't get out, but it was handled. The cops came out and everything worked out well. They get directly to the point and get you going on a plan immediately. All of the equipment is on point. If anybody comes through the front door when the alarm is on, it goes off immediately.

Customer support was really good in helping me set up the system, and helping answer any questions I had when there were issues. I had an issue installing the camera, and wasn't able to connect it to my internet. I've also had a couple of the sensors fall off of windows and had to go purchase more. I think they should make the camera work so it's easier for people to hook it up to their internet. I've already told a lot of my family and friends about Protect America because everyone notices it when they come in my house. They hear the sensor every time the door or if a window is open and everyone think it's awesome ,but it is a little sensitive to my children. They wanna go up and touch it and play with it but other than that it's been awesome. We really, really enjoyed having it. I'm so much safer in my house now.
