Pros

SAFE Security asserts that their main focus is on customer satisfaction; they concentrate on customer care through building custom security and safety systems, offering live call center customer service and providing free home security audits.

SAFE Security also offers other perks, like a Mover’s Packet for easily transferring your security system to a new home. Furthermore, due to SAFE Security’s UL (Underwriter Laboratories) certification, you can qualify for a discount up to 20 percent on most homeowner’s insurance policies.

Cons

There is an array of negative reviews concerning SAFE Security. However, it is difficult to know if problems arose from the SAFE Security company itself or from an authorized dealer.

Issues reported include poor customer service, hidden fees, and an undisclosed long-term contract. Make sure that you read and understand all contract information before you sign on the dotted line. We spoke to an official representative from Safe Security who told us that because they purchase contracts from other providers, often times people are disgruntled from their previous providers. Safe Security welcomes customers with several pieces of communication as well as signs and decals.

About Safe Security

SAFE Security provides three different services or products. First, they sell and install home security and safety alarm systems. SAFE Security offers a wireless home security solution:

  • Control Panel and Keypad
  • Motion Sensor
  • Door/Window Contacts
  • Interior Siren
  • Remote Key Fob
  • Yard Sign and Stickers

SAFE  Security also supplies 24-hour monitoring. The monitoring center is staffed by live, UL-certified operators who are ready to alert the authorities, medical emergency teams or any other appropriate personnel; including alerting you and your family.

Additionally, SAFE Security also provides two different levels of extended service plans and optional services. Optional services include:

  •  Two-way voice intercom capabilities
  • Guard services
  • System arming and disarming reports
  • Cellular backup modules

The professionally installed systems will cost money for basic wireless systems and the IP-based self-install systems start at $0 for equipment fees and the basic protection package.

    This security system is horrible. Do not let these people in your house. They forged a signature on a “contract” that we never saw, stole some equipment from another system that was previously installed, refuse to talk or correspond, lied when they claimed to clear the transaction with our previous system, did not explain any of the “workings”of this system, gave no one for us to contact.

    These people and this business are fraudulent and should not be allowed to operate.

    I feel I was tricked by the gentleman and I use that word lightly. He come into our home as a representative of the equipment installed by ADT advising we needed an upgrade. I agreed to the upgrade and the nect thing I know I hae apparently agreed to switch companies. Now I am being billed by both.

    Was told my contract would be for 36 months cone to find out it was for 60. I told the rep when we signed up that we would be moving from texas to ohio and he assured me it would ttansfer. Well bad news. It doesnt. They dont service in ohio. How am i supposed to know that. My guy screwed me. They will not cancel my contract for this saying its not their problem im moving to a state they dont cover. So im supposed to pay for a system for 5 years that i wont even be using. SO PISSED!!!!!!!!!

    I just found out my contract is automatically renewed every year after the initial contract expires. I have had service with 2 other alarm companies, and never have I experienced this issue. Now I am told I have to pay the remaining months on my contract even thought I am no longer living at the residence.

    Will I sigh up with the company again, NO.

    My parents had safe security monitoring for many years. The service fee was set up on automatic payment from their bank account. My father passed in July 2017 and my mom moved to a memory care facility in October 2017. We removed everything from their home by the end of January 2018 and put the house on the market. At that time I contacted safe Security to cancel service. They continued to deduct the monthly service fee. I called customer service numerous times to cancel service. Sometimes the agent would say it was cancelled. Other times I was told it could not be cancelled without the code. I explained that my dad knew the code but he was no longer with us. My mom has dementia and had no knowledge of a code. The fee continued to be deducted from the bank account. I went to the bank and cancelled the auto payment. I then received bills for the stop payment, late fees, and the monthly fee from Safe. After numerous calls to them and letters to them which I signed (executrix of the will), they sent me a form for my dad to sign -the only way they would cancel. I continued to call and write Safe. In reality, they owe the estate for the deductions from the account for the months they deducted from the bank account AFTER January when I cancelled service. . Today, May 30, I have received another paper bill for service for the month as well as “past due charges” which they continue to add to the account. This is ridiculous! They continue to charge for a house my parents no longer occupy and has been sold! The contract on the service expired years ago and they were billed monthly and my parents paid faithfully for many years. I find it extremely disrespectful for safe to continue their billing and threats to send the account to collections. The house was empty with no phone service and alarm service cancelled in January. There is no way my late father can sign a cancellation form!
    My husband and I switched monitoring services from Safe after 20 years. Safe has continued to sent bills and call us for payment although we cancelled service months ago. Apparently the customer service is terrible!

    These people are scammers. They prey on older people and take advantage of chaos that surrounds moving. They are unresponsive to needs and unyielding to discuss modifications of contract, even if they caused the confusion. DO NOT USE THEM>

    In Aug of 20I7 I sent my payment in and along with it my letter for canceling my service. I called in Nov. 2017 and was told they did receive my letter and to disregard the statements. Well here it is apr. 2018 and I’m still getting statements. I called and after going through 2 different telephone I finally got a hold of someone who put me on hold for someone else to speak to. They hung up on me. I still haven’t got this resolved. I’m just glad that I paid by check monthly or they would be taking it out of my checking account.

    What the article says above is true. The sales pitch doesn’t match the contract you eventually sign, and the way that it is signed makes it difficult to sit down and read (it’s one of those click-through/auto sign tablets) and the kicker is, they make you call a hotline and hold up a card that says “yes” or “no” and then you mechanically answer when the salesperson points to the answer. If you’re a shy/nervous person, beware. You will be in a very difficult and uncomfortable situation. After you realize what happened it’s too late and you’re locked into a long term contract.

    Has a very rude dispatcher, my alarm went off and I was not able to give her my password or account number, she asked me if I received a letter from them that contains my membership card and that is suffice enough to cancel the alarm, when I asked her when did they send ithe letter, she replied, “I am not your mailman” blah blah blah, The second time my alarm went off I had to call them and this rude dispatcher put me on hold while I was still talking without fully explaining why I was on hold. I just came from work and was very exhausted,I felt like I was a crazy woman talking to myself.I got so irritated that I had to raise my voice and when I asked her her name she spelled it out to me. Goodness Belen! You are an ” excellent ” representative of your company.. You did an awesome job!

    Cancelled my Safe Security monitoring service in early July, 2017. I have verbal AND written confirmation from Safe acknowledging the disabling of my system. It is now mid December and I continue to receive billings from this company. Had to notify my bank to stop withdrawals or I believe Safe would continue sucking money out of my checking account forever. There are good security companies out there, Safe is not one of them. Do 30 minutes of homework, well worth your time.

    Not sure how to cancel service. We haven’t been with Safe Security for several years. My husband was controlling the finances and is no longer capable. Want to CANCEL the so called service. Since items have been removed there is no way they are tracking us. PL HELP

    Worst customer service I ever encountered with any business. Not enough space here to describe the problems trying to get problems resolved. Also when I told the representative that came to my home I only do 2 year contracts max it somehow became a FIVE year contract. Service people were late or never showed up. Two times they couldn’t even reach there service personnel. Sent a certified letter and as of writing this review haven’t heard from them. That’s 13 days now. They just don’t care. Well we will stop them from withdrawing the fee from my account and see them in court.

    This company is criminal. They require to draw automatically from your account. They make it so difficult to cancel that it never happens. They don’t call you or email you. DO not do business with this company or you will be disappointed. There is zero customer service.

    SAFE SECURITY is the worst company to do business with. They are dishonest and gouge customers for senseless fees. There customer reps are horrible and show up in sweat pant, tee shirts and crocks with no identification. RUN the other way from this company

    Was originally a customer of Castlerock Security, and continued with Safe Security after they bought out Castlerock. Been with either/or for 13 yrs. I’m changing my service to Protect America & Safe now says I haven’t met my obligation to them….WHAT????? They’ve threatened to turn my account over to a collection agency. Certainly not a company I want to continue monitoring my home. May also file a complaint with the BBB.

    We had a salesman named Brad J who sold us a new alarm and he told us that they were going to buy out our old security company two months have gone and still no money and we don’t a copy of our contract tract with this company.

    Absolutely terrible company. Their alarm does not work, although they still charging us $50 every time technician shows up. And even with this terrible service I am unable to cancel l the contract.

    Please avoid this company if you can. Once they have you in their clutches, they will not let you go. You will pay and pay. They will not let you cancel your account. It seems that this is their business model. They even have the BBB stymied. You may get your service from another provider but if that provider is purchased by SAFE (as in my case), they own you and they will not let you go. I have been riding this train since last year when I cancelled my service. They first require a letter of cancellation. They have this and have acknowledged it. Still they continue to debit my account. When I call, they say it has all been taken care of. Then, next month, debited again. Today I spoke with yet another of their CSRs who told me that I would have to call back and speak directly with the Cancellations Dept. Another delay tactic.
