Security One offers four competitive home security packages that offer a number of security and automation devices. Each package comes with a number of standard features, including wireless monitoring, a lifetime warranty on parts and labor, and locked-in monthly rates.

Pros

While many companies charge hundreds of dollars for activation or installation of the system, or for the price of the equipment, customers pay zero upfront costs with Security One. The company's warranty applies for as long as you are a paying Security One customer.

Security One also guarantees that its customers' rates will never increase over time. While many home security companies promise low initial rates, they also reserve the right to increase these rates after an initial period. Security One promises to lock-in its rates for the entire life of the contract.

Security One's Security Takeover package is unique in the home security industry because not only is this package compatible with systems from top home security providers, but Security One also claims it can provide comparable monitoring services at a better rate - or the company will upgrade your system for you.

Many home security companies' equipment is exclusively compatible with their own monitoring, so a company that claims cross-compatibility may be the way to go if you are not satisfied with your current monitoring.

Cons

Although Security One has made several unique and promising claims on its website, the company offers next to no information upfront about what any of these claims actually mean for customers.

For example, while the company claims a lifetime warranty on equipment and labor, it makes no mention of how much this warranty will cost, whether service technicians will charge for repair visits, exclusions under which equipment is not covered, and more.

The same is true for pricing information. Customers are required to request a quote before they can receive pricing information.

As for the security package, Security One does not specify whether it will upgrade your package for free should the company be unable to provide you with a better monthly monitoring rate.

While Security One has many attractive aspects for new customers, one worrisome issue is the number of online complaints they have had in regards to problems with their products, services, and deceptive sale tactics.

Specifically, customers have complained about poor response time following a false alarm, and difficulty in canceling the service.

Our Recommendation

Security One is a nationally recognized home security dealer that has offices in 48 states and provides a high-quality product at competitive prices. If you are in the market for a security system and do not want to pay for all the equipment upfront then Security One is a good choice; however, customers need to be extra careful to get as much information as possible from Security One upfront.

Security One may be a good company, but because so little information is directly available on the website, customers may consider trusting their home security needs elsewhere.

While installation was a breeze, the company offers nothing to validate the clients account. No online account access, no communication sent to the client ever. Customer service is a joke. Call one number and get one answer, call the same number and get transferred to another "company" only to get a completely different answer. Representatives are rude and patronizing. Management does not return calls. Emails are never responded to. Autopay does not exist. They send the autopay request to your bank whenever they feel like it regardless of your autopay date.

Didn't come through on radio advertisement. They took advantage of my mother, locked her into a 2-3 year contract and the house is not totally protected. When I pointed out the security flaws they got defensive and hung up on me. I would never tell anyone to get this service.

No problems with our service. Was impressed on how quickly they called our home when our wireless smoke detector went off due to smoke from our grill outside (smoke got inside due to open window ). We feel safe from break-ins and we are comforted with having 2 wireless smoke detectors added to our system. Next, we hope to add a wireless remote to our system but it was not affordable in our opinion.

This company is the most unorganized with the worst customer service and service. I can't stand that I have to deal with them. 1. You never get anyone to call you back.2. They will take your credit card info and write it down on a piece of paper and tell you that it's on there secured system. When I said okay well then you should be able to see who has my credit card info and transfer me to them, he then said well it's really just on a piece of paper that we walk to the billing department. I think they have one person doing the billing department. 3. I was having system issues and they said they would have someone call me so I called them back after a week of waiting and they said someone was suppose to call me back again. Well another week went by before they told me someone would be out to fix it the next day. 4. I called them to make a payment no one answered so I left a message waited 6 hours called back to give them my money and still no one answered so I left another message and no call back.

I am writing in my horrible experience with Security One Security System/Safe Home Security. I recently had to cancel my 3 year contract with them for several reasons. The first one being I was never noticed by the owner (the first one I initially spoke with to set up services for my home) or the technician who installed the system our home that there was a contract involved with their service prior to signing up. I only was notified after it was installed in our home and the contract was already signed. In addition, I was just notified yesterday by another representative that there is no service warranty with my current contract. I was never notified that I needed one neither was it discussed with my husband and myself at all. I only found out when I called back to verify if there was a technician charge for a technician coming to our home due to their lack of detail. We recently found out on our own that 2 doors in our home does not have any sensors at all. I called to have someone come out as soon as possible to look into the issue and correct as soon as possible because this is a huge whole in their security system. We are paying for a system where anyone can walk into our home and the alarms would not even sound. We have had a multitude of break ins in our area and they stated it would take a week for them to come out and even look at our system. They told me that there would be an $89/hr charge for the technician to come to the home and $198 to correct the issue. It is unfair to me as a paying customer to try and be charged services that they are not issue sure what the issue is or even entails. I have been transferred several time and on hold for extended periods of time and even after all of that my issue is still not resolved. The representatives have been extremely rude and disrespectful. I asked to be transferred to a Supervisor on multiple occasions and I have never spoken with one. I was even told by one representative, “I will not honor your request to speak with a supervisor. You will deal directly with me!” I had to search back to my very first email prior to signing up with the company and locate the owner’s/president (Claudio Roy Hand) of the company email and telephone number. I called him on several occasions due to the urgent matter. His voicemail is always full and he is extremely hard to get a hold of. I finally was able to speak with him and his attitude is worse than the representatives. I attempted to explain my situation to him and he cut me short every single time I tried to speak and told me on several occasions that I was trying to pull a fast one on him! I feel completely disrespected and someone truly needs to look into this fraudulent company and their fraudulent and negligent practices. I finally paid my way out of the contract because I refuse to continue services with a company where my family life is in danger because they refuse to expedite services in which they were at fault for not installing all of the censors from the beginning, disrespecting me as a customer and family and having to deal with a company “owner” who basically calls me a liar to my face without even researching the issue. I had to pay my way out of a contract that I was not even aware of until after the fact which was $1534. Also, I was just informed that even though they have my money and received my official letter to cancel services it is STILL going to take 30 days to deactivate my system!!!! So basically, if someone were to break into my home and my alarm “sounded” the security company would not even contact me because my account is closed in their system!!!!! They took my money unfairly and I will never ever do business with this company or affiliate companies ever again. I should have known better not to associate with a company that was previously sued by ADT.

My alarm was triggered at 4 AM in the morning. I got up to check the doors while the system was still going off and it said that my front door had been tampered with. Not once did I receive a call from Security One. This has happened twice. When I tried to contact someone through the 800 number that is listed, I would get options to press and speak with someone and then a dial tone. PLEASE USE ADT OR SOME OTHER RELIABLE COMPANY.

I was with Security One for 36 months. I found it to not be any thing special, When I had a service man out recently, he told me that I had not been monitored for at least 6 months, but I was charged every month. When I called the office they said it couldn't be monitored because I had Time Warner for my phone. This could not be, because I've always had Time Warner. They would give me one month credit if I would sign another contract. I didn't and they gave me nothing for reimbursement for all the months I paid without being monitored. I told them to cancel , but they charged me again. I'm trying now to find out who I can talk to, to get this resolved. I feel I should have some reimbursement.

Do NOT use this company. They are scammers. In my case I moved to a nearby state that the represented they did business in, but when I got there I was informed that their service could not be installed at that point in time. Even though this was the case and even though they never spent a penny for equipment since they just took over a system I already had installed in my pre-move location, they continued to bill me and four years after the fact submitted my account for collection. THEY could not provide the service, yet this somehow became ME not honoring a contract they could not fulfill. When I called them to try and resolve this they refused to give out the name or email of their billing dept head. AVOID doing business with this company!

Horrible customer service, they disrespected me and even called me names. This Joseph guy I spoke with should not be working there or should be sent to customer service skills classes. Nightmare to cancel service, they continue to bill you and refuse to reimburse your money and when you question them, that's when they get very pissy and call you names. Joseph refused to provide me his last name and refused to let me speak with someone higher than him. I really hope they do record the calls and they review them.

I'm not as young and as hip as I used to be, and in many ways technology today has passed me by. But the alarm that I from Security One is perfect for me. It fits and protects my home, it is easy for me to operate, and it looks slick. Security One has been nothing but professionals while I have been dealing with them. PS - Low monthly cost is pretty great too.

The first time I got a security system I went with a big nation wide company. That was the biggest mistake I made! They charged me twice as much and only provided the most basic alarm system. Then I came across Security One and from my first call, to the install and my first dead battery for my kitchen window sensor, they have taken care of me and my family!

So my husband and I simply got tired of dealing with the constant headaches from ADT. So last week we switched to Security One who was able to come out the next day and set us up with a working alarm. I especially love that they have locked in our low prices so we don't have to worry about them raising it. They were very nice, helpful & professional.

I had a wonderful experience with Security One Alarm Systems! From the moment I called their customer service, they were friendly, professional, and really helpful. The technicians that came out were great, really professional as well, and did a great job on the whole system. My favorite part is that they had the lowest rate of anyone I contacted, and the rate is locked in so that I know it won't change mid-job. Security One most certainly delivered exactly what they promised, and I'm so glad that I decided to call them. I feel so much safer now!

My husband and I didn't like the security company we used in our old home, so this time around it was really important that we find a company that is honest, and delivers what they promise. I did a ton of research on different local and larger companies, and Security One was my top choice. When we met with them, I knew right away that they would be the best company based upon the professionalism of their customer service and their presentation. We were pleased that our rates would be low (and are locked in) and when installation day came, everything went well. The technician was super professional and knew the equipment well and took his time making sure everything was just right. Ultimately, we're really pleased with the equipment; it is really top of the line and better than what we used in our last home. The customer service has been great too.

I switched over to Security One May 2014 and they've been great! I was with ADT before and was so tired of them raising my rates a little each year and then having to pay for service that was not my fault, like a sensor falling off! It was such a relief to find a company who puts their customers first rather than the almighty dollar! Not only is my rate locked in for life but I've had service issues (with old ADT equipment) that they've come and fixed for FREE! I can't say enough good things about this company. Anyone who is tired of rate increases, or getting nickeled and dimed to death by other companies for things that are technically their fault, should 100% check this company out. It's been over a year since i switched and again, i couldn't be happier! No regrets! Thank you Security One!!!

I have enjoyed my home security alarm from Security One. I switched over to this company at the beginning of February of this year because I was fed up with my last company. Security One promised me better equipment and a lower monthly rate, which I liked b/c I like to save as much of my hard earned money as possible. They have delivered. I have only had to call them once which was shortly after my alarm installation because my alarm was beeping at me, which I didn't like. I called the customer service line and they were very helpful. They guided me through turning off the beeping myself. Security One = Professionals

BEWARE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!! This company is a sham. We moved from California to Colorado and asked to transfer the service. Security one never showed up to install the equipment but continues to want payment. The salesman told us our service would transfer nationwide just like ADT. Hillcrest Davidson and Associates, Toni Jackson told me to never trust their salesman. Hind sight is 20/20. It has been two years of waiting for security equipment and the company sends the collection attorneys for payment. Where is th equipment and service from security one?

Was promised the same system that I had prior to signing up with Security One. I feel that my security has been compromised by switching to this company. Reason 1-they only gave me 1 key pad and not two. The tech said my second pad was faulty so he couldn't replace it. Reason 2- my remotes don't have a panic feature like the ones I had. Reason 3- the alarm is very faint and can't really be heard by neighbors or us for that matter. Reason 4- I'm stuck in a conyract for 3 years and I am not 100% happy with my alarm service.

Within the month of May through 6/2014 I recvd 6 false alarm signals and was Cited in my City $399.00 in fines and citations ! due to security one faulty equipment. No one has acknowledged my phone calls to seek reimbursement for these charges and out of pocket expenses. I am outraged and very disappointed with security one / Safe Home Security and their lack of response and accountability

Their techs are clean and very polite when they come to service our system, which btw they don't charge you. Their customer service has always been very fast treat me like we've been friends all of our lives. I couldn't be happier with their service.

THIS COMPANY IS A NIGHTMARE! Our security system continues to have frequent false alarms and this company doesn't have a CLUE how to fix our system! WE REFUSE TO PAY FOR A SYSTEM THAT DOESN'T WORK! They have over 1,100 complaints to the Better Business Bureau and still continue deceptive sales and business practices and treat their customers like half-wits! Will they ever learn?

My parents are getting older and my father has had a couple open heart surgeries, plus the area of town where they live is not so great. maybe it was when they moved in fifty years ago but it has gone down hill. any way my brothers and i felt the need to get a life alert system for my father and to get a security system to help protect our parents for home invasions. as we looked into it we realized that these type of home goods are very expensive and can run up to thousands of dollars to start out plus the monthly monitoring. then we found security one! their customer service experts explained the best options for what we needed, and not only did we get the security system but also the life alert pendant all in one system that was at an affordable price that we could handle. thank you security one! my mother tells me all the time how wonderful it is and the peace of mind she has at night or whenever she leaves the house.

I did a lot of research of several different security companies before finally deciding to go with Security One as I found that I would get more bang for my buck with them. Not only has the process been very simple and fast, but everyone that I've spoken to has been very professional and attentive to my specific needs and were willing to go above and beyond to help me get exactly what I wanted in my security system. Also, as stated in other reviews, the customer service has been exceptional!! 10's all around! Would highly recommend Security One!!

To me customer service is No.1. Security one has always gone over and above. Claudio was informative when I called and answered any questions I have had. If there was a problem the companies response was prompt and courteous.
