  • High monthly monitoring fees: Monitoring plans with Vivint start at $39.99 per month and go up based on a variety of additional package options. This is a bit higher than other leading industry providers. Specifically, their lowest plan is priced considerably higher than other industry leading providers and their respective lower plans.
  • A long, 60-month contract: Vivint provides the installation and equipment free of charge, but with one major caveat. You’re basically signing a 5-year (60-month) home security contract. And these contracts aren’t too forgiving. Customers are expected to pay the remaining balance of their contract in the event that they try to cancel early.
  • Solid home automation features: One of the ways Vivint is trying to separate from competition is by positioning themselves as more of a ‘home automation’ solution. Their mobile app allows you to control your home security system remotely. They also have a suite of additional home automation products and features such as temperature control, auto door locking, doorbell cameras and more.
  • Customer service complaints: Former and current Vivint customers have complained of deceptive sales tactics, poor customer service, poor billing practices and slow technician response times. We have received over 1,500 negative reviews here on this website regarding Vivint from real customers.
  • Our recommendation: With a 5-year contract and high monthly monitoring rates, the economics just don’t make sense for most home security seekers. We recommend much more affordable options that don’t tie you down with long contracts, and have a deeper history of high-level customer service. Frontpoint Security and Protect America are two options you should consider if you are interested in Vivint.

This system has NOT worked properly since we first purchased it. We have had to call customer service numerous times for them to try to fix the system and they have never fixed it. When it was first Installed they did NOT install all the components we paid for. Had to call back and reschedule for them to install ALL the equipment that we ordered. Customer service is completely useless they try to make the consumer repair the item over the phone without threatening to charge a service fee. The app NEVER works properly. I had a smoke detector go off a few days ago and because there was a glitch on the panel (which there is ALWAYS something wrong with it) the panel was not charging and disconnected the emergency responders call. He then had to call my husband at work WHO WAS NOT HOME to confirm the house was NOT burning down and he is NOT suppose to get calls at work yet miraculously he did answer during work. The thermostat NEVER works properly. Had a $200 electric bill thanks to Vivint not explaining the settings on the panel I called customer service and all they tried to do was pressure me into signing a 48 month contract to get an upgrade panel they wouldn't even offer a free service to our system to confirm over the next 30 day cancellation period that they require to ensure our system was working properly during that required 30 day cancelation period.Read More

It seems Vivint has a great sales pitch and that is where their greatness ends. Not quite a year into having the system and my cameras rarely, if ever work. I have spent HOURS on the phone with customer service to fix the issues. Each time I have the system fixed, another camera goes down, or my personal favorite, none of them record or allow playback. DO NOT purchase this system, it is not reliable.Read More

Unreliable products and system. Our system goes down more often than once a week. We live in a large metro area and have reliable internet service. Customer service is poor. They need to work on back office technology that allows their staff with the right credentials and customer approval to make changes using the control panel. The interaction I had with the staff today was unproductive and bordered on being illogical with their responses.

I have had vivint for over two years now and it is not all it’s cranked up to be. First and foremost the young man that installed my equipment did it so fast I din’t feel as though he did a good job. I have been having problems with it from day one, from the door bell cameras to the sensors. When you have to have a technician to come out no matter what it is you have to pay a fee of 49.00 and that’s a bit much. and now when you are late with your bill they want to charge you a 10.00 late fee not to mention your name is mentioned with the credit bureau. I don’t mind a late fee but 10.00 is a bit much. The only good thing I can say about vivint is the customer service department is awesome.

the Worst service EVER they do not provide good service at all neither installing the sensors nor when you call to report the failures. Sensors don’t communicate with panel and they don’t fix any of the problems. When we called to cancel the service are the representative treated us like kids he would not let us talk and he would prefer to put us on hold instead of giving us a solution to the problem. Basically they don’t let you cancel service. When we signed the contract they were supposed to give 30 days to cancel and when we called to cancel they told us the 3 business day cancellation period was over.

I got tricked into signing a 5year agreement, the sales rep was nice and looked trustworthy and said I could always cancel for a 10 dollar per month fee and re assured me I was signing a 2 year commitment, I took his word and didn’t read the fine print and now I’m stuck with 3 1/2 years remaining on my contract with my other opinion being pay the full amount up front to cancel, They want me to pay the 3 1/2 years I have remaining at full amount to be able to cancel wtf really! Horrible customer service as well.. go to Home Depot or any other store and purchase the cameras yourself and save a ton of money their a bunch of crooks.

I have issues with my door bell camera. I have tried everything to fix it according to their website and what customer service reps have told me to do. The camera was still not fixed. I asked for a tech to be sent to my house to resolve the problem and they want to charge a service fee even though everything is covered under warranty. The customer service rep had the audacity to tell me that because it was “my product” it was my responsibility to try and fix it myself. On top of that, a rep would not be available right away. Funny how sales reps will show up on your doorstep whenever they want and will wait for you to come home until they sucker you into buying their product but cant get a tech rep to your home right away? I would stay clear from this service as they will charge you fees even though the product is covered under warranty. And their customer service is just terrible.

I paid $1058 up front for the door bell camera..one back yard camera..panel and door lock…tech couldn’t get my lock off to install door lock…back camera and door bell have failed to record clips almost daily…of course after the three day recision period…I have called and called them..the last rep told me to “wait a few days and see what happens”. I called their retention department and the first rep told me that I could get my money back within thirty days…called the next day to set it up for return and was told no my three days is up…it is 5:38 a.m eastern time..I just got home from trip and my cameras haven’t recorded anything since yesterday at 10:02 a.m….the mail lady wasn’t recorded for was my Amazon delivery etc. I don’t want to this junk any suggestions on getting my money back?

Vivent is the worst. Do not waste
    Your money or
Your time. I spent thousands of dollars on their technology – it is GARBAGE. Do not fall for their sales pitches. They lie to your face. ALL of my equipment has failed and I can’t get someone out at a convenient time to me. I have to take time off of work. When I did get an appointment the guy turned up on the wrong day and I even have to pay to have a service man come to fix their broken stuff. WORST DECISION I EVER MADE. Go with ADT. I had Vivint Services for years and moved a couple streets down. They would not come down themselves and move the security system and cameras out of my new house and into my new home which was literally 2 blocks down without charging a ridiculous fee. They don’t seem to appreciate loyal customers at all. Our payments were automatically drafted monthly so no late payments. Besides that their customer service is HORRIBLE!! Read that contract you sign very careful its years that you will end up with them if you don’t. Very long!!! We ended up paying $700 just to get out of that contract. So worth it. Not to deal with them again. So unprofessional may I add. There are a lot of more companies out there. Do your research. It will be worth it. I wish I had done so before signing that horrible contract.

I had Vivint for 4 years. They charged 78.99 per month. They raised it to 82.99 per month at the end of my contract. The only way to cancel, per my contract, was in writing to them. They disabled the email address on the contract, so I had to send it USPS. I got multiple calls offering me more contracts to stay for less per month. I refused repeatedly. They didn’t stop calling until I told them I had already purchased another alarm (from Abode). The day after my 30 days notice, they charged by credit card $ 82.49 and their computer shows they never cancelled my account. They are planning to charge me next month too. I called tonight and a very nice lady explained that I would have to call back and talk to the cancellation specialists when they are in. The charge was unauthorized and, for a company that I’m no longer doing business with, this has been super annoying. I will never do business with Vivint again.

I cancelled Vivint on 8/15/18. Per their policy They would not accept the cancellation over the telephone, but only accept the cancellation by an email at [email protected] to include my name , account number and stating I was discontinuing service and pay their $276.00 early buy out. I immediately fired off that email after telling them to send me a bill for the buy out amount and not to debit my account.

On 8/16/18 I am debited $75, i wrote this off as bad timing. Somewhere between 1-2 weeks later, a Vivint employee shows up at my door wanting to know why the system was off line. I told him that I had cancelled the account and went with a more affordable company that offered all of the same home automation and for a much shorter contract.

9/18/18 rolls around and Vivint again debits my account for $350.65. I immediately called in asking why they stole money from my account. Their response was that they never received the email I sent in on 8/15/18. I told them I wanted a refund for the amount they debited and that I had previously told them to send me a paper bill and not to debit my account. I demanded a refund and for them to send me a paper bill and that I would immediately pay my buyout amount only. I then resent the email cancelling service.

On 9/26/18 they finally refunded my $350.65 electronically. On 10/5/18 I finally received the paper bill I requested back in August. I wrote out the check and mailed it the next day paying the buyout amount only. On 10/9/18 Vivint cashed that check and I assumed my nightmare was over.

I was wrong, on 10/16/18 I received an email saying that I was behind on a bill. On 10/18/18 I called the provided phone number and was passed around until I ended up with customer loyalty (no idea why they call it this, because they don’t have any). After a long back and forth with the Vivint employee, he advised that he would only refund me the amount I was going to be charged for October, but I was still responsible for the September bill. I explained to him that I cancelled in August and was willing to write that off, but I was not going to pay them anything else. We will see what they do next.

In short, I will go through my neighborhood looking for Vivint signs and tell them about the better deal I got through another company. I will also tell them to take meticulous notes documenting their conversations with Vivint and the employees name. Otherwise, they will keep trying to take money from you for a service they had not provided.

We tried to cancel the service and had to speak to four different emoployees, each one tried to sell us more stuff. In addition, we tried the email the company to cancel and all emails bounced back. We had two different email addresses, but neither worked. Finally we sent a letter, but not certain it won’ t come back too.

They are horrible. Equipment is not that problem but you could get the same for much less. The problem is the iron-clad contract. Like if 5 yrs is not crazy enough…when the time is up you have to request cancellation in hand written letter and it has to be submitted a month before the actual end of your contract or you automatically get sucked into another 5 yr contract. They suck! And any upgrade they try to get you into another 5yr contract…what the heck! They have horrible customer service and only seem to make a living by enslaving families to pay them monthly if theyre not careful for the rest of their lives. You would never expect a company to be set up that way so its possible to come in to it blindly and get sucked into supporting such a horrible company.

Billing – Continued to charge me even after they confirmed the account was closed. Had to keep calling in as their sales teams informed me that they could not help.

Cancellation of Service – What a joke. The amount of loopholes to go through to cancel this was offensive.

Guarantee/Warranty – Products started failing less than a year into the contract, refused to replace. After a few months, sensors were not working correctly and was told I would have to pay premium to have a tech go out and adjust (they did not do this correctly the first time they were out).

Product/Service – Overpriced accessories for system and was not that great to begin with. Cameras were not that great at night and photo quality was meh. (I’m on a 100mb ISP).

Customer Service – Chat on website for Billing never has worked for me. Always tells me that there are no sales people online. Phone wait time is average 15 to 30 minutes. Multiple redirects to get anything done. Average talk time is well over 30 minutes and they always have to put me on hold and talk to someone else.

The terms aren’t clear. There’s a lot of doubletalk if you try to get out. How can $30 less per month with no additional “contract” and upgrade on equipment be possible? Because they charge an exorbitant amount for the equipment which they finance through your credit and you have to pay for 60 months more! Unless of course you just buy the equipment outright. Go to ADT much more honest!

We have had Vivint for a year and I love it the equipment works good I can pull up my cameras anytime and I can see what’s going on there may have been an issue with my wi fi a time or two but not with the vivint equipment and when I called them those couple of times they stayed on the phone til my cameras were right. But my fiancé recently decided to look into other companies when we realized initially we were told our bill would be 75 dollars a month for a year then go to 49 at a month cuz that was when the equipment would be paid for but when he called a few days ago he was informed that it is actually 5 years before the bill will go down. I don’t know who he will switch to but unless they are really good I will miss the vivint equipment and their good customer service they have when I call them.

I acquired my Vivint service by way of a “con” door-to-door sell job. Fraud by a 3rd party. I had no time to research security cameras as I thought I was getting “a good deal” when I fell for this. The price is outrageous, $65/month for 3.5 years (I would have never done this had I known up front what the terms were, as no paperwork was left with me upon sign-up. I was told it was a free special offer – yeah, I know!). But that was in January 2017. The first year I though the doorbell camera operated “ok’. The picture was not blurry or degraded. During the past few months, the operation of the camera is marked deteriorated. I no longer know when the doorbell camera will work or not. A few months ago I called Vivint customer service and complained. They said I needed a software upgrade. They stated the way the doorbell camera works with the update is different than the way it used to work. They also told me the problems with the doorbell camera would resolve when I upgraded to the newest release. The problems have not gone away. The picture is horrible. It’s blurry at distances. I have pictures on the first year 4th of July that were clear showing us going into the street and shooting fireworks. If you walked up to the door, it picked you up. That is not the case since the software upgrade. I hate the camera. It’s horrible. It’s not work $65/month anymore. What a rip-off. It doesn’t notify you if someone rings the bell anymore. I’ve worked with them several times. I think it’s a mis-match of software and out-dated equipment. This company needs to change it’s practices on how they deal with customers. I wrote to the attorney general after getting ripped-off the first year. I heard nothing. In January 2019, I have to pay and content with this sham of product for another 1.5 years.

System works good as far as getting emergency service response (when monitoring subscription is in place).

However, if you use internal door locks or garage controller and have guest in your house with limited access – they can lock/unlock or open the garage just by walking to the alarm panel and clicking the button – not good. This is a major flaw on this system.

For instance, my wife and I do Airbnb at the house. Thru the Vivint app we can create limited access guess/users to arm or disarm the system, it is easy to do even thru the app on our phones. However, when the panel is in disarm mode it shows the option to unlock internal door locks and to open the garage controller without any restrictions.

So, if you use internal door locks and/or the garage controller to prevent unauthorized access to certain rooms within your house…. and believe that a limited guess with no access can not open those locks or garage door….think again!! They can open them by simply walking to the panel when is in disarm mode and “touch” the unlock button for the door lock or garage controller.

This makes the system a waste of money, in my case.

Now, i have to unpair door locks and garage opener from the Vivint panel (hint – waste of money) and link the door locks and garage opener to my Smart things controller were I can control 100% who can unlock a door lock, and who can have access to open my garage door.

    Hope this help!

WORST company EVER – my system intermittently worked off and on over the past several months – they would not do anything to resolve the issue. Finally 2 nights ago and over 2 hours on the phone fighting them they agreed to send a technician out. He said he fixed it, but it did not record him leaving, so I called him back and he came back – reviewed the footage and started calling the IT support. He finally suggested that they replace the panel and doorbell – tech on the phone (apparently didn’t know he was on speaker phone) kept telling the tech at my house not to replace the system, it’s not the system it was THEM, there is a “bug” in their system that won’t be fixed until the earliest February 2019, maybe later, he suggested that they give me a $25 credit – I said get this out of my house. Don’t waste your time, or your money – it doesn’t work!!!

Run as fast as you can away from Vivint.Beware of their sales tactics and do not make any long term contracts if you do go with them(which I highly do not suggest). If you are a current Viint customer and you have to cancel due to selling your home or whatever be aware that they will tell you you must pay off the contract or go to collections.NO ifs ands or buts to it.They have no concern for anything but the money.True it is a business, but greed abounds here.If you are a current customer DO NOT –I REPEAT DO NOT agree to anything on the phone as they supposedly record everything.I have to cancel my contract due to selling my home. They stated that I would have to pay them for 17 months(over $900)to cancel the contract or try to get the buyer to assume the contract..SAY WHAT!” I do not recall being told this over the phone.
Just be aware that Vivint will want any and all monies irregardless. They do not care about anything but the money.Greedy people. If you have any choice whatsoever then avoid anyone having to do with Vivint at all.If they come to your door then slam the door in their face.If you are already a customer please take to heart what has just been said about cancelling as it will cost you big time if you have remaining months on your so called contract.PLUS remember agree to nothing on the phone with one of their sales people you will be screwed over.

Horrible company to deal with. The worse customer service I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. By far the worse managed company going, bunch of crooks.
I got locked into a 5 year contract and tried to get out of it. I ended up paying these crooks over $800 to leave me alone. That was back in May and I thought I was done with them. Now at the end of Sept they stole almost $90 from my bank account for a service that doesn’t exist. I phoned them and they say it will take 3-5 business days to get back into my account. How many times does this go unnoticed, how many people do they rob daily? Vivint, I should be able to penalize you $1000 dollars a day until the money is back I’m my account just due to your incompetence.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF.

Worse service I have ever had next to Sprint, so bad in fact I think that they are owned by the same board. Products do not work as indicated service is inconsistent, I have had this service for ten months and it has operated correctly for maybe three. Every time they come out they charge a $49 trip fee after 5 visits and it my cameras are still offline, I give up!!!!!

What a horrible 6 years of my life. They locked us into this never ending contract that was EXPENSIVE. The price reduced when I moved to a new house, but only because the house was also smaller. They charged me a $100 fee for moving. Fine, I knew I was stuck in this contract so whatever. Next move they want another $100. Now, fast forward to the end of my contract, I call them because I am actually dumb enough to want to see what it would take to get a price reduction and keep them on a little longer. They say that now I need all new equipment and that they have to charge me now for equipment at $850! I already have equipment! But they say it is now obsolete (although they were supporting it before I called), and that I have to pay to upgrade my own system after paying them their monthly fees for 6 YEARS. If this isn’t illegal business practices it should be. Don’t waste your money getting wrapped up in shady contracts with this company. They are horrible and there are better prices, service, and equipment elsewhere. They should be shut down.

This company deserves zero stars. I sold my home 15 months ago and your company still keeps charging my account. My new home was built and included with a system from ADT wth all the bells and whistles and the customer service has been exceptional. I was able to also just sign a one year contract. your company wants me to pay over 1k to cancel my service which I have not used in over 15 months just shameful your business practices are like this I should have read the reviews before signing anything its all there.

We signed up for Vivint in October of 2018! Since then it is has been a nightmare. Nothing has worked, as promised! We installed a driveway camera, a doorbell camera, two thermostats, upstairs and downstairs, glass break sensor, and motion detectors. The driveway camera goes offline nearly every single day! On the app, it has gone up to 35 days without being able to reboot and give an up-to-date image of what is actually in our drive. The clips that are saved tell us that it has recorded 30 seconds of video; however, when clicked on the video clip is 4 seconds, 5 seconds, may 10, at best. They are never 30 seconds in entirety. And they only work when the camera is online, which is sporadic, at best! The doorbell camera did the exact same thing. Something was actually stolen off of our porch and nothing was picked up by the camera, at all. In fact, the camera quit working in March of 2018, and after many many many phone calls and waiting for hours on hold and promises of a tech coming or calling to fix it, someone finally came on September 17th! It never took a video or picture from March until September 17th! The thermostats quit working on the app all the time and we have to actually use the ones on the wall. Getting in touch with someone at customer service is a joke. I have actually set off my alarm three times just to get someone to answer quicker. That was after being on hold for over an hour, each time! Then “they” were appalled I would do something like that! I have been hung up on four times, because I have argued with them about wanting out of my contact for their equipment not working and their customer service being so awful. They said I have to call in monthly to make sure it does work! What?!?! Isn’t that their job….I pay you for that, right?! We were told at signing that we could move and the move of our system would be free, we are now being told that moving will cost us $300+, a few for removal of system and a fee for new set up of system at the new home. “Our policy changed” is their excuse…even though that is not what I had signed up for!

At this point, I would love to be out of my contract and done with this company. I would not recommend them to anyone, ever! Even setting off our alarm we did not get an adequate response time! It took more than 5 minutes for someone to call….you will be paying for junk! Your house will burn down….theives will be gone….and you will not know who is coming or going anyway! Zero reason to have it!

Also….trying to get something to prove that we have an alarm for our home owners insurance is a joke…they will not speak to your insurance company, and they will not provide accurate paperwork that shows you have an alarm system. You will not get the discount!

    Do. Not. Get. This. System!

I called to inquire about getting their service and set up an initial appointment to get more information. They scheduled an INSTALL instead, I cancelled, they rescheduled without asking me, I cancelled that, they showed up at my house anyway. I can’t get rid of these people. They are stalkers. Don’t give them you cell number or you will never get rid of them!!!!!

As we began our process looking for a new security system, Vivint seemed very promising. They had the allure of updated technology and easy to use systems. As we have used our system, however, we have come to find out it is quite the opposite. At the beginning of our process we were told by our installer that we would be able to cancel this service if we were not satisfied at any point in time. What we were not told, however, is that these installers are just saying what they can to get us, the consumer, to sign on the dotted line! From the moment we signed we have had nothing but issues. Our main control panel frequently glitches, and has even started creating false alarms (which included calling the police, twice!) without even setting off a single alarm at our house. It was essentially hitting a panic button that we were unaware of. After 30 minutes on the phone with the company, they reset the service and fixed the glitch. This is not the first time this glitch has happened, and no one seems remotely apologetic about the problem or the lengthy phone call times we have endured. I would say we have called Vivint around a dozen times with problems and at no point in time has a phone call been under 30 minutes. Their service is about as unapologetic as it gets, and we are feeling stuck with this company. I am not writing this as another upset customer, I am writing this as someone who is truly trying to enlighten those looking for a good security company to not sign with someone who locks you in to expensive contracts with no recourse for their faulty equipment. Please, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!

Be careful when dealing with this company. We moved and closed on our house during a family emergency. When I realized we hadn’t called Vivint to let them know we moved, I called to cancel my service. They convinced me to “defer” my account while deciding if I wanted it at the new home with reassurance no billing would occur. A couple weeks later I receive a message from the new owners of our home that the alarm triggered and they had no way to disarm it. The police arrived as well as a loud alarm going off at their home. I called Vivint again very upset that the system was still on! They refused to turn it off since I was on a deferment plan!!! I told them they needed to cancel my service, which I had to write an email and then wait a few days for the service to be shut off. Ridiculous! Fast forward and I realize they charged me for 2 months at a home I no longer lived at! I called customer service to ask them to refund my account and I was passed around and spoken down to the entire time! I was told my billing cycle was on the 10th and I called on the 5th to defer my account which takes 5-7 business days. Since that went into my new billing cycle, I was charged the full amount and no prorated amount would be refunded! I have never heard of that from a company providing service. I went around and around to get the next month refunded and had to keep asking for a manager. They told me a cancellation of service has to be on file for 30 days before it cancels, so again no refund. I explained that the reason for the cancellation was because they refused to turn off my old system, in a home I no longer owned, with new home owners and a system that went off and they couldn’t turn off! After being jerked around by many customer service representatives, I finally was passed on to a manager who used a very good tactic of shutting me down and moving the call along. It was a very unpleasant experience and I am still out money. Be careful. They do not have their stuff together and are ridiculous to work with!

Vivint has refused to refund my money – which they continued to take out of my account – long after I cancelled my service when I moved. When I cancelled by phone I was NEVER notified that I needed to provide my cancellation in writing. Vivint is refusing to listen to their “quality assurance” recording to verify my complaint. They offered me multiple upgrades if I would use them as my home secure provider in my new location. They even stopped debitting my account for 2 months after I cancelled. Then they started the automatic debit again.
They refuse to let me speak with a manager.
They refuse to provide me with a refund.
This company is highly unethical and distrustful.
I am STILL waiting to speak to someone with authority to compensate me.

After having Vivint in my home for 10 years with outdated sensors, Vivint wanted to charge me for replacement. Talkin to customer service, being hung up and transferred from person to person. Nobody seemed to know what they were talking about. Finally decided to cancel with Vivint. Promised one month credit, being though I cancelled on the 3rd of the month. Never was credited the amount! Do yourselves a favor and do not use Vivint!

I would not have bought the system if I knew how not user friendly it was. You can only download up to five minutes of clips from your space monkey. It can only be done from the app and not on your computer. You can’t playback video on your computer only your phone from the app. If you need to get it to the police or someone that need to do an investigation, you can only send it to yourself via email or text, then send or save it to your computer. I was told I could do certain things with the system and two months later it’s discontinued. I was told I could do certain thins with the system, like extract files from the space monkey from my computer, but was told the site was discontinued.

Do not waste your money or time with this company!! I’ve had vivint for a year and the system has worked maybe 5% of the time. Their software is terrible, always has bugs, and simply doesn’t work. You have to be home at your panel to call and troubleshoot- and you spend about an hour on the phone each time – just for it to go down within a day or 2. The people at vivint are great- nice- seem to be knowledgeable- so they have good customer service BUT customer service means nothing if a security product does not work and does not protect your home. It’s extremely expensive and you are locked into a long contract that you can’t get out of even though it’s their equipment and software that doesn’t work. I wish I had done more research before falling for their sales pitch.

This company is very bad for pricing and care for customer service, They were charging 39.99 for moving from one house to another then they went to 129.99. When I called to schedule it was the 39.99 but when they came the price had increased and that what they wanted to charge me.If there is a problem with your system they will keep you on the phone for a hour trying to fix it rather then sending someone out to fix it. Can’t wait to to end the contract. ADT is much better.

We’ve had Vivint for over 3 years. We’ve had issues with the doorbell and camera from the beginning and are now having issues with the front door lock. Have made multiple calls to tech support and had to present an argument every time against being charged for tech visit to come out and repair the problems. Seriously, we’ve had the “Please Knock. Doorbell not Working” sign up more over the past three years than the doorbell itself has worked. My husband has battled cancer over the past two years and having to call in to a tech service dept to be put on hold and argue why we shouldn’t have to pay for the tech coming out was more than I was capable of handling at times. So, the sign went up. Finally fed up, called to cancel the service and was offered the option of buying out remaining 15 months of selling it to someone. Who would sell a horrible system and service contract to even an acquaintance? Not us. Or we could buy out the remaining 15 months. They were willing to remove the cost of the problematic doorbell and camera as a kind gesture. Give me a break! Waiting for them to email me a copy of our contract. I will have an attorney review it and get us out of the contract. Because I would rather pay legal fees than to give Vivint another penny!!!!

I purchased the home security service in April of 2017. By July 2017, there were pieces of the door and window sensors that would fall off and cause an alert. We called Vivint and there was not much that they did for us. By August we were fed up with the system and turned it off. I tried to cancel the service after a year of non-use and Vivint is requiring us to pay off the faulty equipment before they would discuss cancellation fees. They would not accept the equipment back, so now we are stuck with expensive garbage sticking to our doors, windows and wall. Buyer beware of this company.
