  • Nationwide availability: Vivint is available in all 50 states so customers all around the nation have access to its products and services.
  • Multiple equipment options and automation features: With Vivint’s base security package, customers receive a touchscreen control panel, a smoke detector, a door/window sensor, a motion detector, and a key fob. The key fob can be used to arm or disarm the system without having to enter the home. Additional equipment is also available, including recessed door sensors, glass break detectors, flood/freeze sensors, carbon monoxide detectors, tilt sensors, small appliance controls, doorbell cameras, smart thermostats, panic pendants, and more.
  • Lifetime warranty: Vivint offers a lifetime equipment warranty on all of its home security and home automation devices, which covers both defective parts and normal wear and tear. This warranty applies for as long as you are a paying Vivint customer.
  • Remote access via mobile app: Access the entire control panel with the Vivint Sky mobile app. It allows customers to arm and disarm their security system, view and record live video feeds from the doorbell camera, lock and unlock doors, control the temperature of their home, and more. Customers also receive instant alerts if door or garage door sensors are triggered.  The application even integrates voice control capabilities using Amazon Echo.
  • 60 month contract: Customers are required to agree to a 5 year contract, which is longer than the industry average. If a customer would like to end their contract with Vivint before the term is over, they are required to pay off the remaining contract balance in full.
  • Expensive rates: Monthly monitoring rates start at $39.99/month and go up from there. There are several competing home security companies that do not charge any upfront fees and have lower monthly rates.
  • Customer service complaints: Former and current Vivint customers have complained of deceptive sales tactics, poor customer service, poor billing practices and slow technician response.
  • Our recommendation: With a 60 month contract and high monthly monitoring fees, we recommend a more affordable and flexible option such as Frontpoint Security and Protect America,

This system has NOT worked properly since we first purchased it. We have had to call customer service numerous times for them to try to fix the system and they have never fixed it. When it was first Installed they did NOT install all the components we paid for. Had to call back and reschedule for them to install ALL the equipment that we ordered. Customer service is completely useless they try to make the consumer repair the item over the phone without threatening to charge a service fee. The app NEVER works properly. I had a smoke detector go off a few days ago and because there was a glitch on the panel (which there is ALWAYS something wrong with it) the panel was not charging and disconnected the emergency responders call. He then had to call my husband at work WHO WAS NOT HOME to confirm the house was NOT burning down and he is NOT suppose to get calls at work yet miraculously he did answer during work. The thermostat NEVER works properly. Had a $200 electric bill thanks to Vivint not explaining the settings on the panel I called customer service and all they tried to do was pressure me into signing a 48 month contract to get an upgrade panel they wouldn't even offer a free service to our system to confirm over the next 30 day cancellation period that they require to ensure our system was working properly during that required 30 day cancelation period.Read More

It seems Vivint has a great sales pitch and that is where their greatness ends. Not quite a year into having the system and my cameras rarely, if ever work. I have spent HOURS on the phone with customer service to fix the issues. Each time I have the system fixed, another camera goes down, or my personal favorite, none of them record or allow playback. DO NOT purchase this system, it is not reliable.Read More

The worst Home Security Company on the market today. Save your money and go with another Home Security Company. They also have the worst Customer Service when it comes to making an appointment for repair services. The monthly monitoring is also very high at over $40.00. .

First off, if I want a product- I will search you out. Please do not come to my door two times asking why I won’t consider a contract with you. I have ex- boyfriends that have handled rejection better.
Don’t come to my door asking for reasons why. Move on. Pick your chin up, and find another sucker.,

Having our 2nd installation into a 2nd home. Installation took over 5 hours. Also, told that the 2nd key fob and alert bracelet would take 7 to 10 business days to receive. Well, called on the 11th day and asked about the key fob/alert bracelet. Customer Service stated it would take 5 to 7 business days to receive. Well, it’s been one day past this and still no 2nd key fob or alert bracelet. Ok, I am paying for a service and the service is not been delivered………Oh, well more phone calls in my future….

Vivint Customer Service is crap. The salesman made it all sound so great. Once we signed about 430pm on a Friday, the installers showed up about 5pm. They just happened to be in the neighborhood and would get right on the installation. 3 installers and 4 hours later and down to one installer, he said he was tired and that someone would come back the next day to finish installation. He also informed me it might be a week or two before we got the Carbon Monoxide detector, because they were out. Really nice after you just gave them your credit card for the first months payment.

He never went over the equipment with us either. The next day came and went, the second day came and went, and then on the third day, I got three calls, one from the Salesman, one from the head installer, and one from the Corporate office. All three gave me different stories. Now that I have all these things screwed into my walls and this unit not working and we are not sure how to use it, I called and told them to get this equipment out of here. I told them they would have to fill the holes in the walls, the doors, the vinyl siding and all. Of course you know what will happen. They will come and take their crap and I will have to hire someone to do it. I am almost 67 years old.

I wish that I had taken the time to google this company. Do yourself a favor and google them, worst company I have ever dealt with. Stay so far away from them. We live in Lincoln NE, but the installers were all from Florida. Found that out after the fact also. Shoddiest company and their lies. Remember I was called by three of the people that I worked with and all three had different answers.

I would not let them put a doorbell on my dog house. If they did not have all the equipment, they should have told me upfront. Carbon Monoxide is a very important piece of the system. Just stay away from them. You have been warned.

Boy this company really upsells their products which are actually quite expensive if you look at what you get. We have ADT for our surgical practice that my husband and I own, and they have been average, but outstanding compared to Vivint. Our cameras go offline all the time, and wind constantly triggers them on my phone. One windy night, I had about 50 triggers that kept sounding a notification on my phone – had to turn off the notifications. We had the system for just over a year and already we’ve had the tech come out 3 times due to non functioning equipment. If equipment problems, you have to pay for a technician to come out. The tech came out due to a non-working panel, and he set off the panic alarm. I get a $275.00 fee from the City. There’s only an email and fax you can send your appeal to get reimbursed. It’s been 5 months and still no response or reimbursement for the alarm fee incurred by their tech. Customer service is terrible, follow up is terrible, company does not take responsibility for their equipment or service. Worse decision ever to go with this company. Would absolutely not recommend.

At first the company gave an awesome pitch. I did have an alarm system and wanted to upgrade to the cameras, since my previous company was charging in my opinion to much I went with Vivint. Vivint was in my neighborhood at the very same time so they made the sales pitch. My problem with the company is that the camera are always off line, even though we have gotten more WiFi bandwidth, the panel always have to be rebooted and now for a certain period there is no clips to look back on. I got this system to view my mom who has a home attendant and the clips will be important in the event there is an issue, now there is none. When you call the support line you are always being told to check this and when you yourself have done it all before calling the support. When I ask for a technician to come and check the line cannot get one all i am being told is to trouble shoot, which works for a very short time. I feel the connection at my home is not correct but they refuse to send a technician to come and check. Only been with this company since April.

Worst Service Ever… , I wouldn’t recommend this service . First of all , the customers service has to be worst than the actual security system. Full of ignorant workers who doesn’t consider that we as the customers have the righter way especially if we have evidence of the actual contract. Also, the most complicated cancelation policy known to man . How does the progress last about 5 months to cancel and we had to pay for it because if not we were going to be sent to collections .. DON’T RECOMMEND THE SERVICE !

I have only had the vivint products for a year and I am more than dissatisfied with the products/equipment and customer service. They are the absolute WORST home security ever. My doorbell camera does not work and we have only had the service for 6 months and the doorbell camera has not worked for 2 months. When I called the rep had me on hold for over 40 minutes to speak with a supervisor. This is just a ploy to get you to hang up. They are terrible!!! So they want us to pay $199 for a service technician to come out and fix an issue with their product. I strongly recommend if you are in the market for home security go elsewhere DONOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Sales person came out and sold me on the service but when the installer came out it was a totally different story. I’m still waiting on my camera to be installed and it been 5 or 6 weeks now. No return phone calls after the 3rd week or so. Just a blame game from installer to salesman. Haven’t been able to get the salesman to call back since the first time we met. I want this equipment pulled out of my house. Neighbors had the same terrible service experience. Not impressed with customer service at all!!!! I’ll be going back to ADT ASAP

No Happy at all with the customer service!! Sales person came out and made promises that the installer will not keep. It’s been 5 weeks and I’m still waiting on the camera above my garage door I was promised. Installer says the sales person has disappeared and no one can find him. They want me to pay extra for a camera now/ which I will not do. If your company makes promises then they should stand behind them!! My neighbor across the street had the same problem! Not at all happy with the company or the customer service we have received! Next step for me will be a call to The Better Business Bureau! If your sales people are out making promises you need to deliver on them or get new sales people!!! VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!!!!!!!!

The technicians and customer service reps are great, however I actually feel sorry for them that they are working for a company that I am convinced is crooks. I signed a 42 month contract, I am 24 months into it and have been dealing with complete frustration for the past 12 months. The equipment started giving me problems and I spent numerous hours on the phone with technicians. It was always resolved but then new problems would start like clockwork within a couple of weeks. During one of the few times my equipment was actually supposedly working, every item off my front porch was stolen and my camera didn’t catch one glimpse of it. I ended up selling my home and buying a new one. The process with Vivint in getting things transferred was so absurd and ridiculous it was hard to believe they can really get away with this type of service. I spent multiple hours of phone calls of frustration and there was always a new roadblock. As soon as I solved the first challenge, I was met with a new one. To make a long story short, I ended up paying for service over a month in a home I didn’t live in even though I contacted them 4 times discussing my move and followed all of their instructions including calling them on moving day immediately after closing to alert them for the 3rd time. Now it’s a new challenge getting service in the new home because I’m being denied for purchasing the new equipment. I have an 800 excellent credit score and my debt to income ratio is fine all of which I’ve confirmed through Lifelock and Equifax and provided Vivint the proof. Ive never been turned down for anything in my life and now I cant purchase a security system for $1,200?? Now Vivint cant tell me what they are checking for but it must be more than credit if I’m being denied. I have long job history, lived in my last home 12 years, and no criminal history. What else could they be checking for? Even they can’t tell me as no one seems to know, even management. Its obviously a glitch in their new system and they even admitted a handful of people have had the same problems as me with no explanation. Yet I’m still penalized. So I know I’m stuck in the contract and decide no big deal I’ll just pay cash for the equipment so I dont have to continue dealing with the roller coaster of issues. I really dont need to borrow the money from them anyway, they just seemed to be forcing me into this as the only option. Oh but now I find out if I pay cash for equipment, the monthly monitoring fee goes up! If I want the monitoring fee to go back down, I need to be approved under their conditions (which they still cant tell me what they are and they won’t accept my proof of their error) or I need to sign another contract for 60 months. They completely backed me into a corner. Its almost as if it’s a scam to force you to sign another contract or pay a higher fee. I can understand enforcing policies when necessary but there is a hole in their system here and I am the one being penalized for it. It seems unethical and they are unwilling to help other than apologize and say they are as frustrated as me with the situation.

After being with Monotronics for years, we switched to Vivint. What a huge mistake! We have had nothing but trouble since day one. The system is offline more than it’s on and we constantly have to reboot the panel. The cameras don’t work and since installation, our WiFi has slowed considerably. So very disappointed with this company and customer service. This was a costly mistake and I’m not a happy about being out $800.

First off my contract will finally come to a end in Jan. Has to be the worst service to date. From the control panels always having issues to the doorbell cameras never ever working the whole length of contract. Always calling being told they will waive the fee for a service call…wait what for service that never ever has worked. Gee thanks for the favor. Told when we signed up other outdoor cameras would be available a month later and we would be given them at the time for no charge. Well years later still no camera besides the doorbell camera which mind you doesnt record ever so what is the point of having it. When somepne does ring the doorbell unlike other systems that work our system with vivint well you get the actual doorbell coming thru 20 mins later after it was rang so no you cam not see who is at your door or talk to them because they already left or broke into your house! Such a joke thus ststem is. Save your time uts toi precious to waste on this company. You are better off with bars on Windows then this system.

I have been having issues with my cameras since I’ve had it. They seem to disconnect randomly. I have called many times and have been on the phone with the customer service for hours trying to trouble shoot the problems. Let me explain to you my fustration with this service

I have to call Customer service when the cameras or doorbell lose connection and have to have the representative remotely unlock the installer settings to reset the doorbell and cameras. We are on the phone for more than an hour troubleshooting.

When that fails, the representative on the phone tries to convince me that I have to pay 50$ for a technician call out to my house. I refuse to pay for a callout on the equipment that has never been working right since the beginning.

So an appointment is made but there is usually a week long waiting list. So now I have to take more time out of my life to be home for this appointment. The “technicians” that show up at my house are not even real employees of vivint. They are contracted and are not exactly business presentable. These are not the type of people I would normally let in my house. They give me all kinds of excuses as to why it doesn’t work right. Excuses include firmware updates, software glitches, cameras are an older version, wifi interference, panel interference with the neighbors panel, soo slow internet speeds, and my router. They normally just reset the panel and say it’s all good now. I spend more time on the phone with a customer service representative trouble shooting and do more work than what these technicians do and yet they claim to resolve the issue within a few minutes. About an hour after they leave, a camera or the doorbell will lose connection. Guess what? I have to start all over again call customer service , trouble shoot on the phone, set up an appomtment that will be a week later, have some “technician” show up and provide another excuse and not really fix the problem. I have grown tired of this routine and do not have time to be dealing with a failed system. Even rightnow my cameras are randomly dropping connection.

I used to have vivint before they introduced cameras and then they were known as APX. The service was good and I was convinced when I signed up for this new service that my family would be secure 24hours a day, especially with this camera system. This system has failed me. Would you put your Family’s safety at risk witht a system that doesn’t work right? I want 24 hour security for my family and home. Not at random times when the system is working. What makes this worse is that I am paying a premium price for unacceptable service. I just hope that the alarm is working right if something were to ever happen.

At this moment I would not recommend Vivint to anybody.

Absolute WORST company I have ever dealt with. It was a nightmare the entire way through. First, the person who installed our cameras. It took him hours upon hours, and many of those were on the phone with support because he was so baffled by our ‘smart’ router, but that’s a VERY minor complaint here.

The day he left, we noticed how poor the quality of our cameras were. Extremely pixelated and laggy; they were totally useless for surveillance and records. I called and explained this and we were told that it was most likely either bad cameras, or the installation itself had not been done properly. Upon hearing that, I requested a different tech to fix our cameras, and was told that they would absolutely send someone else. They sent the exact same moron the next day.

I spent hours on the phone with these people over a period of two days. No one had answers, and no one cared. They were practically begging me to cancel. It is the most bizarre response I’ve ever received from a legitimate business. They didn’t want to solve my problem, they just wanted me to cancel and move on. It perplexes me that this company is still and was ever in business.

They never turned on the 24 hour recording I paid for. The icing on the cake was the last tech who came out to my house to uninstall the equipment who forged my signature on the removal paperwork and later claimed that we hadn’t given him the ‘monkey’ or whatever that stupid thing is called.

Do not do business with these people.

Terrible service. And liars. I was told from the sales men. That it was just an extension of my existing security system. That was not true. It was a hole new company. Found that out after they had already drill holes through my house. I was told it was wireless. Another thing he lied about. When I found out it was a new company. I told them to pull there equipment out. Sales men says he would look after my old security company. Cause I was on contract. When it came time for them to pay for my old contract with another company. The sales men says he never said he would pay it off. But I had all the text messages and conversations recorded. So after numerous calls. I won that part. Cameras don’t work. Told me it was my wifi. I have high speed internet and I shut off all other equipment. More then enough speed. And still shoty cameras. I was told they would look after the system even to change batteries. Put in a work order. And no one showed. Ever. The sales men also told me I was locked in for two years with the company.and I could cancel after that amount of time. Cause I’m Canada he said the contract could not go over two years. So it’s been two years. Went to cancle. And here I’m locked in for 5 years. My fault for not reading the fine print. This is a Terrible company. And only want your money and don’t care about their service. I highly recommend not using Vivint. There app dose not work either. Won’t sinc up. And tells you error a lot of the time. This company is full of liars. And do bad business.

Terrible equipment doorbell camera freezes and forget about talking on the intercom from your phone app. I have had the door lock changed out and tomorrow I have a tech coming out to replace panel. Panel shows kitchen door open which it’s not and the panel is not accepting my PIN number. This system was installed 1 year ago … shop around before you buy

Upon the install of the equipment, our home wifi became very slow. In addition, the phone features did not work. When trying to view the doorbell feature, I was not able to. When trying to use the microphone feature, my phone said the feature was not available. I wanted cameras for the backyard, but did not want holes in my drywall or siding (thought they were wireless/cordless). I was also charged unauthorized amounts and getting my refund has been a nightmare.

I have had issues for 6 months. Their good intentioned service is 3 weeks+. My cameras, thermostats, doorlocks batteries, motions not working etc contually have issue and without resolutions. Our contracts is why we are forced to remain With the service. I’ve been on hold right now as we speak over an Hour trying to find a Technican who is 3+ weeks out. This is unacceptable service when I’m paying monthly.

DONT GO WITH VIVINT. The equipment is horrible and they expect us to pay for a service call trip fee to fix THEIR equipment. The panel constantly freezes and we’ve had multiple sensors fixed. It’s obvious their equipment was not ready to be used but Vivint does not care about their customers, they just want to get our money.

Worst customer service! When you have an issue they try and make you resolve it on your own. I spent an hour on the phone with a rep and they couldn’t fix the issue then they wanted to charge $50 to send out a technician nearly a month out. Don’t use them

While customer service rep was friendly. The door has not work correctly for the past 7 or 8 months. The sales rep expected me the home owner to fix the part once it’s shipped out. My car was broken into in front of my house and the camera did not record anything. All that money once a month and horrible equipment

Vivint has been such a disappointment. Everything was fine for the first couple of years but now they won’t send anybody out to fix their equipment without charging a fee.. the doorbell camera has never worked longer than a month. They expect the customer to do all the repairs, I’m not an electrician! A door sensor has stopped working, the system keeps freezing up on us and yes the doorbell cam still isn’t working. We are locked in a contract so we can’t leave this terrible company. Please take my advice and DO NOT sign up with Vivint!!!

Still have one year left on my contract my keypad no longer works as well as other sensors. Horrible customer service, stuck with a non working system unless I want to have a service tech come and have to commit to another long extended contract….or shell out big $$$ to replace faulty products.
They are great salesmen but their product is faulty and they don’t back it. Avoid at all costs.

Less than a month and I want to run away from Vivint. Can’t do to the contract unless I pay over $1000 for equipment fees. Guy came back 2x first was because the doorbell stopped working and getting said a wire was loose, then the doorbell stopped again and now they are saying it’s my home wiring, and I need to pay someone to come fix it. No problems before, and if it was the wiring why didn’t he say that the first time? If anything is wrong, I think it’s the shotty work of installer. Now I’m waiting on a different tech and that is going to be another week before he comes. Meanwhile I am paying for equipment I can’t use. Also, my point of contact who I purchased thru with Vivint has stopped answering my calls.

We moved to an area where vivint does not provide services, however the company insists that we must continue to pay for services that aren’t possible to provide to my home. I will be seeking legal council.

I paid Upfront for the system and was not told that I would not have the app on my smart phone unless I paid their exorbitant fee for monitoring. Do not go with this company their sales rep is not forthcoming and you will be stuck with a lot of out-of-pocket money. I am going with a different system in a different company and I have this useless equipment if anyone wants it I’ll sell it to you for a good price.

They refused to refund my installation and take the equipment out so I am out over $800. I hope you are smarter than I was and read these reviews before you go with this company. I plan to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the FCC on Vivant.

Never! Never! Get mixed up with this company! They will leave you hanging!! They have the slickest sales people. They tried to install the alarm system at 9pm, so I wouldn’t have the time to check out the company. I refused. This should’ve been the first red flag. The equipment is a very poor grade, the finance company they set you up with to pay for the equipment is Citizensone and they are terrible to deal with also.
The sales person will not tell you what you have to go through to get your alarm serviced if it goes down. You will be put on hold anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to speak to a representative. I’ve had the alarm system for four months and have had to call seven times. I just went two weeks without an alarm. Yesterday, I called the alarm company and the call escalated to the point of having to speak to a manager. The manager tells me to get my tool kit out and he wants me to troubleshoot the system. I don’t know anything about this alarm system and by the way if you break or something happens to the equipment It voids the warranty. I can’t get the alarm panel back on. I expressed concern about doing this … this manager said either you do it or we will charge you $49.95 to send out a repairman. The manager finally agrees to send out a repairman days later. They cut corners by having you do their work for them. I was with Monotronics for over 12 years and they never asked me to work on my alarm system. I have asked three times to get a hard copy of the contract sent to me. The last person I talk to refused and said they do not do this. Don’t ever do business with this company. Vivint is out to Utah. Once they sell you your alarm system this company could care less about customer service or any needs you may have. I plan on filing complaints with the attorney general here in Arizona.

I was billed twice for installation. The system malfunctioned. The rep told me to try to fix it.They sent a tech out after 3 weeks.False alerts.I had to write the BBB of Utah and The NCDOJ in order to have the system removed and the contract canceled. The tech ripped down the panel in anger and left a part of it on my porch after I asked him to leave my home. They wanted me to sign a refuse for a damage repair.I refused. The reps are condensending and rude

Do not do any business with this company. I bought my house that already had this system installed. I accidentally broke my thermostat glass screen and I called the company on June 26th, 2018 and asked how to replace it. I was told by Eric that if I sign up for the month to month service plan, they would replace it for free. I started the process of signing up and needed to be at home to have their technician talk me through the system update process. They withdrew $39.99 from my bank on that day. On June 28th, 2018. They sent me a blurry screen shot of what looked like a contract that I was unable to read. I did not E-sign it because I could not read it. On June 29th, 2018 I received a phone call from the technician and I then was transferred to the Thermostat Department. I was told that they would not replace my thermostat for free and it would cost around $169 or $235 depending on what system I wanted. I asked them to cancel my account and refund my money. I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with them that day explaining why I was canceling and I was promised my money would be refunded in 7-10 business days. I called them back on July 9th, 2018 to ask where my refund was. I finally was transferred to Rebecca and after a 15 minute call of explaining why I wanted to cancel and that I wanted a refund. Rebecca was very professional and nice and she promised that she had figured out why my refund had not been sent out. Rebecca told me that I would have that refund in another 7-10 days. I called back on July 24th, 2018 and finally was transferred to Lauren. I was told that I would have to send them an email to cancel my policy. This was the first time I had been told that I would have to notify them by email of my intent to cancel my policy. I sent that email to them while I was on the phone. Lauren then told that they would not be giving me a refund since they have been monitoring my house for a month. I tried to explain to Lauren that I had never signed a contract with them and since I had removed my WIFI address off my home security panel on June 29th, 2018, they have not ever been capable of actually monitoring my house for anything. Lauren told me that the instructions to cancel the account was in the contract and it was my responsibly to know that. I explained once again to her that I did not sign the contract because it was blurry. Lauren stated that I had to sign the contract to be able to read it. That ignorant statement pissed me off. I told Lauren that no one in their right mind would ever sign a contract without actually reading it. Lauren was rude and condescending and she refused to transfer me to her supervisor. Lauren talked over me and would interrupt me several times. After I kept telling her to transfer me to her boss, she finally told me that there were no supervisors available. She told me that she would have a supervisor call me sometime today or tomorrow. This call took 50 minutes of my time and I doubt anyone will call me back. It’s now July 25th, 2018 and I have not received a phone call from any supervisor. I received an email this morning stating that my bill is due July 29th, 2018 and they will withdraw another $39.99 from my account. I still have never signed any contract with this company and they have never monitored my house.
