Vivint Smart Home offers home security, security cameras, and home automation devices for residential homes. Right now, the company has no activation fee. However, if you opt to finance your equipment, you're locked into a 5-year contract with high monthly fees.
Because Vivint has received an abundance of negative customer reviews, we recommend you compare Vivint to the best home security companies in the industry.
Vivint Smart Home Automation Features
One of the ways Vivint is trying to separate from the competition is by positioning themselves as more of a 'home automation' solution. Customers can use either Vivint's SkyControl Panel or Google Home as a hub to control and communicate with all their smart home devices. The great thing about the SkyControl Panel is that it uses two-way audio to communicate with Vivint's monitoring team, so customers have instant access to support.
To control smart devices remotely, homeowners can use the Vivint Smart Home app. Vivint's app is highly rated in the Apple app store (4.6/5) and Google Play (4.5/5). With the app, you can control and see the following:
- Arm and disarm home security
- Lock and unlock your front door
- Check the status of your window and door locks
- Open garage door
- View live feed on doorbell camera
- Use two-way audio with doorbell camera
- View live feed on indoor and outdoor camera
- Turn lights on, off, and dim
- Adjust smart thermostat
- View smoke detectors
Vivint's home automation system is compatible with common smart home hubs, such as Amazon Echo, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. For environment controls, Vivint sells both the Element Thermostat and Nest Thermostat. For lighting, Vivint integrates with Philips Hue - LED bulbs that you can control the brightness levels of with your voice or mobile app.
Month-to-Month Contract Option
If you purchase all of your equipment upfront from Vivint, you can be on a month-to-month monitoring contract with them, meaning you can cancel at any time. Without purchasing equipment upfront, Vivint locks customers into a 5-year contract. This month-to-month contract is a great option for those who want to own their equipment immediately, which will cost anywhere from $500 to $1800, depending on what equipment you want to purchase.
Costly Equipment + High Monthly Monitoring
Vivint's 24/7 monitoring packages start at $39.99 per month and go up to $49.99/month for video monitoring. This is a bit higher than other leading industry providers, considering equipment needs to be purchased separately. Specifically, their lowest plan is priced considerably higher than other industry-leading providers and their respective lower plans.
The table below compares home security systems from Vivint, Protect America, and Frontpoint. The two big differences you'll notice between Vivint and Protect America is 1) upfront costs and 2) customer satisfaction. Protect America doesn't have any upfront fees, Frontpoint has low upfront fees, and Vivint has high upfront fees. Next, Protect America customers rate them an average of 8 out of 10, while Vivint customers rate the company an average of 1 out of 10. Another point worth mentioning is Vivint's 5-year contract vs a 3-year contract from the compared companies.
Another point worth mentioning is that Vivint doesn't display their package or individual equipment pricing on their website. Instead, the company relies on door-to-door salesmen to advertise technology and pricing. In order to sign up with Vivint or get an estimate, you'll either need to talk to a salesman in person or speak to customer service reps. In our section below on negative Vivint security reviews, note that the door-to-door salesmen sometimes have high-pressure sales tactics, don't fully explain the contract, and make some homeowners feel like they have to make an instant decision.
Vivint provides equipment free of charge, with one major caveat. You're basically signing a 5-year (60-month) home security contract. And these contracts aren't too forgiving for those who want to cancel their home security or are moving. A customer is expected to pay the remaining balance of their contract in the event that they try to cancel early.
Vivint has professional installation service- there is no option for DIY installation - which some people prefer. The company charges $50-$200 for this professional installer.
Negative Vivint Reviews
There are many negative Vivint reviews from customers on our site and the majority of them touch on poor customer service and the long contract that ranges from difficult to impossible to get out of. Common themes among these customer service reviews include:
- Deceptive sales tactics
- Poor service
- Poor billing practices
- Slow technician response time
You may be wondering why there are so many negative reviews of the Vivint alarm on BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com, when other review sites rate them high and have positive reviews. Unlike other review sites, we do not allow companies to pay to remove reviews, nor do we filter out reviews just to boost or lower a company's overall score. We have received over 1,500 negative reviews here on this website regarding Vivint from real customers.
Vivint is a well-known home security company that does not charge for its devices upfront. The smartphone mobile app allows you to control your home security systems and smart home devices from wherever you are. However, with a 5-year contract and high monthly monitoring rates, Vivint's home security systems may be too expensive. Most importantly, we recommend choosing a company with better customer reviews. There are also more affordable home security companies that don't tie you down with long contracts and have a deeper history of high-level customer service.

Vivint has various home security solutions (24/7 professional monitoring) with a variety of equipment available. If you are in a 5-year contract with Vivint, you will have to pay the entire balance of your contract when you cancel. Make sure to cancel within the window the company gives you. Customers who have tried to cancel even a couple of hours outside of their cancellation window have been denied.
How Long is Vivint's Contract?
When you do not purchase equipment upfront, you will need to sign a 5-year contract with them. If you want to purchase all of your equipment upfront, you can be on a month-to-month contract. Don't want to pay for equipment upfront or be locked into a 5-year contract? Check out Protect America.

worst company i have ever elected to do business with. Keep in mind in order to use their services you must have a land line and high speed internet. Any time i need to refer back to history or videos saved, the data is not there. They neglect to let you know that you are only allowed a specific amount of storage, whether you have 1 camera or 4 camera's, the storage is the same amount. you call for a service call because two of your four cameras are not working. you specifically advise them that there will not be any tools or a computer for the so called "professional" to utilize while he is there getting paid to do a job, without the appropriate tools. and the first question is , "is there a computer i can use!" What a joke! and keep in mind you are locked into a contract, but apparently Vivint doesn't have to provide you with any type of service. Think twice before you use Vivint.

Have had service 3 years. Had to get lock replaced. Came out fixed in couple of days and even got am additional window contact added that I bought from another site because it was cheaper. Seems like most complaints come from getting out of contract. Like anything read the contract and ask questions up front. Yes you are getting into a yearly plan with this.

What I see as far as complaints are people who don't understand the word contract, who fail to ask questions, who claim to be swindled and/or taken by sales tactics, so very many people here are complaining they bought it and changed their mind the next day. That's not the company's fault. Our family has had a very positive experience with Vivint. The salesman was straight forward with the pitch, we had everything installed for free, our equipment was free, we paid a reduced activation fee. Our equipment works perfectly, we have had no issues arming or disarming, no accidental set-offs, the cameras work fine and are accessable via the iPhone app. My only complaint is that they worked late into the night to install our system, this was caused because of a camera malfunction, however another tech was in the area with an extra. They answered all our questions, walked us through the features and allowed us to get comfortable with the system before they left. I would recommend Vivint to my friends and family, provided they understand simple terms and concepts.

I would have rated the company a tad bit higher until we had to cancel. If you are military completely stay away from this company. Before signing contract for service we clarified that yes we COULD CANCEL our service if we received military orders and had to PCS. Well the accountamanagers made it extremely challenging to cancel. They wanted us to transfer service even placeing a hold on our account till we would get settled at Ft. Drum. Come to find out they would transfer service for free but it would extend contract another three years. We finally had a supervicor tell us that yes we can cancel send the orders and a cxlation letter to vivint. Waiting to hear back, Most companies we have experienced do not operate this way when it comes to serving a service member. Please do not use Vivint for your sercurity needs unless you want to battle them out of your contract.

HORRIBLE COMPANY! GET AWAY IF YOU CAN! There's so many things I don't know where to start.. . I was lied to by the salesman from the get go, both cameras don't work, 75% of the time the website doesn't work to review my stuff, the app doesn't work on my phone, and then there's the billing OMG! I have been over charged so many times bc they are unable to figure out what the "glitch" is doing to my bill, WTF? I asked them if they could just clear out my whole subscription and start a new and maybe that would help the "glitch" they refused and said they have it under control. Just checked to see if my bill went through properly, ya, over charged AGAIN!!! DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!! WISH I HAD READ THESE REVIEWS FIRST. Next thing i'm doing is calling my bank and doing whatever I can to stop them from charging my account!

I was promised three incentives to sign with Vivint; 1) First month free, 2) No installation fee, 3)Three month grace period, where if I decided to cancel I would not be charged. I agreed and signed the contract, and had issues with the system not working since day one. They got it up and running and then came the billing issues - I have been overbilled on top of being double-billed and I have been charged for the first month and the installation fee. When I brought this up to the Customer Loyalty Representative I was told that "Vivint is not responsible for what the sale staff say." At this point I tried to cancel the service all together and am told there will be a payout charge of over $3,500, although I am still within the 3 month offered grace period.

I see a majority of negative comments here and wish to add another. It seems in order to cancel/terminate your contract, you must first ask others within your family/friends to purchase it. If that doesn’t work, then you're screwed as in my case. First off, who signs a 3 three contract? I did but from here out, guess who won't? Secondly, getting out of my contract is taking way too much time! I have better things to do with my time. Third, has anyone read all the negativity surrounding Vivint? It’s out there!

Okay so on July 3rd of 2014 a vivint man was stopping door to door around my neighborhood selling vivint. So around 6pm he came to my door. Keep in mind in late may of 2014 we had a break in and was very pissed about how everything was stolen. So i was already looking for a good alarm system for me and my three kids. BUT i told him to come back the same time in august so around August 3rd because a could not afford it at the time. He said that was okay and to give him a check with an empty date so he could date it in August and i could still start the service today. So it sounded very good to me and i agreed to services and the check commitment and signed the contract. They installed the system and told me it would be 256.99 for the first time and then the rest of the months after that would be 59.99. I was happy to get protection at that price. So after they left the system seemed to be working properly . ONE week after they installed it as i stop by the bank to make sure my mortgage money is there and i see my mortgage money 256.99 short and when i asked the bank they said it was vivint who took that amount. I WAS SOO UPSET because i was told the check would be cashed a month after and now i cant pay my mortgage. I called them and explain how i was a single mother raising 3 girls that all go to private school of the such bad area we live in and how i need to pay my mortgage and refinance so i can pay my ex-husband and give his half of the house. They said they feel bad and will refund in 3 days. 3 days later my mortgage is due and i still haven't seen they put the money back into the account. I called them to find out whats going on and they say they will refund in 7 days. pissed as i am they send a representative back to my house to apologize, as he is standing on my front porch he is scratching his testicles in front of me and my three girls which i thought was out of line. so after 7days they finally said they wasn't going to refund my money. I was upset . So around August 3rd as i am trying to finish pay my kids tuition bill they took another 256.99 so they took over 500 dollars in ONE MONTH. I Am so pissed i am about to call them so they can take their equipment back because its not far to me nor my children that vivint is enable me to pay my mortgage and their tuition.

This company has good equipment (sometimes) but falls short on product knowledge. Also their different departs doing seem to know what each is doing. I have spent around 20 to 25 hours on the phone and have also had multiple service requests to fix the system. Once it was determined that a part of system would not work correctly in my home, I was told that they would lower my bill to reflect the new amount. This never happened, and when I called into them they claimed I was being billed the correct amount. I have also got calls from the collections department stating my account is pass due, they have my CC on file. When I questioned what month this was for, I was told I did not owe the money and that a credit did not get applied correctly. Then the rep on the phone with me, noticed that comment I was paying to much and found the entry about the payment being lowered. She helped with that. Today I look at my bank statement and I have a pending charge for $381.26 due to their mistakes which I now have to wait to get refunded to me. I also started to look really hard at the payments made and the amounts billed and noticed I had overpaid by $70.00 then original thought. This is also getting credited back. I hate having to deal with them most of the time, just because it takes a lot of time. Now if I could only get paid for the wasted time on the phone with them, 20 to 25 hours @ $50 an hour. Unless things change drastically I will be switching services once my contract is up. I also will not recommend them to anyone and will inform anyone asked about my issues. I live in a new home development and we get asked what we think by potential byers all the time. Just wait.

Our alarm is being jammed with cellular jammer. Vivint has been ignoring this. I have no protection to our home. I am thinking of cancelling them as it is a waste of money and the entry is seamless. I filed a complaint with NJ consumer affairs.

Vultures. Not happy at all. The service is fine but the TRAP YOU. "It's a trap!" If you have a contract with them and you wish to cancel (for whatever the reason) you still have to pay the remainder of what you *would* pay if you used their service instead of a simple cancellation fee (which still suck). Have 25 months left of your 4 year contract and wanna cancel? Well you still owe us that money. Again. Vultures. I do not recommend.

We were sold a Vivint System, which we did not like. I called Vivint a week later and spoke to a gentleman that told me it would be to his advantage to let us cancel our account, than try and keep someone who was unhappy with it. A week later I called back to get a confirmation, since I had the equipment removed. They then told me I was going to be paying them for five years even though I am not using their equipment or service. I was lied to by a Vivint Representative.

We bought then immediately cancelled this service. The main reason was their sales approach which very quickly left us with a five year subscription at $53.00 per month, almost by sleight of hand and fast closing. Once installed (for free) the system looked nice, and hi-tech but then we discovered that it was not yet connected for actual operational service. Waking up the next morning, we were still unclear about how the touch screen worked, and spent several minutes trying to stop very shrill, very, very loud alarms. So, we called the company and cancelled. The local service rep appeared on the "same day" to retrieve the system. He was very professional, and understanding.

I transferred my system into new home from previous home. After having the system for several months I kept receiving a radio communication failure. I called and did some trouble shooting over the phone with a tech and only made the communication failure happen more often. I scheduled an appointment to correct the issue. The tech did not arrive until after the time frame that was scheduled. I had to leave to pick up children from school, so I called to ask if the customer service knew when the tech would arrive. They left me on hold for a long while, and ended up putting me into a time crunch to go get my kids. I ended up hanging up and trying to leave. When I was backing out of garage, the service tech was standing in my driveway of course. I left anyway, leaving him a note to be sure to communicate if you are going to be late. My account was noted that I cancelled that appointment since the tech showed up and I left. It did not note that the tech did not show up during scheduled window of time. I called weeks later to try and end my contract with Vivint since I discovered another issue. The front double windows had two contacts on them but only one of each of the set of windows were activated. So for a year I had not had security form my security system. The customer loyalty person said they would need to have a tech come out to verify the issues. I did not want to schedule an appointment since i was still upset from the last appointment that was not kept. I said that I would call again when I had all day to wait on someone to show. I did schedule another appointment. This tech came out and corrected the radio failure stating that it was a bad device. He moved one contact on one window but said he had done both. Then he said he needed to move glass break because it was in a position that would not detect any glass breaking. I would need to purchase a second one to cover the front of my home. He moved the glass break and left the three holes in the ceiling from the first position. After the tech left I kept hearing the alarm saying that a sensor was open. I figured out that one of the windows he said he fixed, he hadn't touched and it was setting off alarm now. I had to bypass the sensor and call in for another service call. The same tech came out the next day and fixed it. Today I called to get my account adjusted for all the down time. I feel I have not had a secure security system since it was originally transferred to this home because the windows were not covered. I was told that i could receive only one month of service free. I am not happy with that. I was told that it is my responsibility to report issues. I don't open my windows in the winter and not often the rest of the year, so I didn't discover the issue with the windows right away. I also did not know that the glass break was in the wrong position, because I am not a tech and do not know the specs of a device. This company sent an installer to make my home secure. This installer was not competent. The company sent a tech to fix the issues and he did not fix all of them until a second trip out. I have paid to monitor a system for 18 months that was not a secure system. Vivint should refund me the cost of my monitoring for more than the one month offered. The customer service person was not sympathetic, stayed firm in saying I cancelled the service call when the tech didn't show up on time, and told me to call customer loyalty department if I wanted anything further. I have to call them on a weekday. I will try to fit that into my schedule.....

They came to our door at 7pm on a weeknight (July 9 to be exact) and offered service. We are currently with another security company and they were able to "one up" them with their products so we agreed. We had the techs start to install the products when they told us they wouldn't be able to due to the way our thermometer was set up. Since they were not offering anything more than our current company was at that point, we cancelled service. They had charged our account $168.99 immediately and assured us we would be getting a refund. We called the next day to verify that the tech had put the refund through. They assured us they did and it could take up to 7 days. No big deal. We waited 7 days and the money didn't show up in our bank account. We called back. They blamed our bank, and told us it had been processed on July 17 (it was originally supposed to be processed on July 10). Told us to wait 4 business day. We waited. July 21 comes, no refund in the bank. We call back. At that point they proceed to blame our bank. We have been with this bank for 10 years and have never had an issue. They state they will put it through again and that we should follow up with our bank. The following day, we follow up with our bank. Our bank states NOTHING has come in from Vivint or any transaction in the amount of $168.99. Today, July 23, we call Vivint back again. This time we request to speak to a manager. The manager is just as incompetent as the techs and customer service reps. He states this refund can take up to 30 days. This is the first time we've heard this. He stated he has done everything he can do for us and cannot do anything else. Yet, here we sit, no product and out $168.99. We will never recommend this company to anyone.

I'm one of the satisfied customers. I haven't had any problems with the system. They do use pushy sale personnel and their contract length is very long. Prices are moderate to high compared to others. What I like. I've been able to add a number of sensors, locks, and light controls. Installation is pretty easy, but I had several not work out of the box. I didn't purchase these from Vivint, so I can't complain about them. Fully featured , my system is easy to use and reliable. I used tech support regularly for the first few days with no problems at all. What I don't like. Vivint doesn't like customers to install their own equipment, and you need to sweet talk them into giving you the necessary permissions. That's a hassle but I (somewhat) understand why they do it. I don't like the price and contract term but I agreed to both up front.

We bought the system less than 30 days ago. To date, we have had three visits from techs and have another one pending. They have yet to wire this thing correctly. It spontaneously alarms, most often when we are asleep. The customer service people apparently have not been trained properly because they are useless. They keep sending the same guy out to "repair" and he keeps declaring the system perfect. It is not perfect, it sucks and shame on us for not reading the fine print that states this is a 60-month contract. We deeply regret this purchase. Buyer beware!

We have never had a worse experience with a company. They came out and put holes in our wall, half installed our system that we are paying full price for, gave us a speaker that doesn't work, and when we called to get the whole thing put in they had someone on the phone who had no idea what they were doing. Now we realize we don't really need the system since we have gone so long without it and since the three days has passed we have to pay $2800 to get rid of the system since we *surprise* signed a 42 month contract when we were told when we got it that we would not have any contract. Now we are stuck with half a sucky system... You guys are crafty and sneaky and I will never ever recommend you to anyone ever.

Vivint salesmen call me and promised a camera and front door panel lock equipment if I extended my contract for 48 months. They give me an appointment date on 06/25/14 to install the new equipment. Vivint personal show to my home, with incomplete equipment, he was missing the camera. I contact vivint customer center and explain what happen with their personal. They was too disrespected with me complain and order me not told me to have another appointment after 55 minute of discussion. They said if I don’t want to install the equipment they will renew my contract with or without the equipment install. I spoke to the manager and he was worse. (Horrible) I recommend if they come to your door don’t answer! I did a big, big, big mistake don’t get involve with this company. Worst experience

Vivint has a license to steal. The conned my ex husband into buying a system with a four year contract and before the end of term (after my divorce) I called to get instructions on canceling my service. I was told to email a cancellation request to [email protected] with the following: Customer Name, Service Address and Phone, with cancellation in the title. I sent it in Feb (before the 30 day required notification period to cancel at the end of my contract). Bank withdrawals have hit every month up to and including June. June 2 I called to inquire and the customer loyalty rep I spoke with told me that because I hadn't included my account number they would not have known what to do with the request. I forwarded the original request and they are still making withdrawals from my account. I trusted them to do the right thing and to stop automatic withdrawals but, as yet, they have not. I do not recommend nor would I choose them again. The reason I'm giving them a 1 is because the updated thermostat was a nice and the only useful feature. If you'd like to cancel your Vivint service in the Subject of your email, include your account number. In the body include your customer name, device address, the phone number on the account and call no more than 3 days later to follow up and make sure the email is attached to your account.

This company sucks. I ended up selling my home and they won't cancel my contract. If I cancel my contract I would need to pay all the remaining month all upfront. This is soooooo bull. Called them million of time begging to get out of contract. They said no. So regret going with this company.

I started with Vivint simply because I had a sales person come to my door and pretty much let himself into my home. He talked to me and my husband about vivint and yes we accepted it but we pretty much felt forced too. Anyways we canceled before the 10 days. Vivint was very good about us canceling I will give them that as they sent out a tech to come take everything out immediately! But they told me I would get my refund after 10 days in the mail... We'll a little more than 10 days passed so I called them asked them what is happening with my check?? They told me my refund was in the mail and should be there in the next couple days. We'll after a month has gone by still no money. I called them again and the guy on the other ends tells me that there was nothing shipped out because it has to go through an approval process. He said he would submit another form to approval and once approved will take two weeks to get there as I live in canada. I am so mad that it actually takes that long to refund me my money. I hope in two weeks from now I actually receive my money. They should honestly stick to there word when they say 10 day refund! This company is honestly a joke when comes to paying you back.. I strongly recommend if they come to your door don't answer! Was a big mistake on my part answering the door!

My father has had Vivint for years. I also had them when I had it in my own house. Thank you to Vivint! They are fast response to our house fire back in September of 2013 we only lost a lil bit of our stuff. The fire department got to our house before the fire spread past the living room. Also my husband and our family dog made it out alive cause of them!!!!! Thank u from the bottom of my heart Vivint!!!

I'm going to devote as much time as possible to telling the sad truth about this rotten company to anyone anybody who sighns up with vivint to any reveiws I can possibly find. Vivant somehow got me to sighn a 5 year agreement to use them at $60.00 per month! I would have never signed such a deal if I new it contained a 5 year agreement. Shame on me for not reading it more carefully. Shame on them having me sighn such an agreement. Triple check anything you sign that could have a multi year agreement. About 6 months into the agreement, I needed to change my door code because we were leaving on vacation, and my kids had given it out to too many of there friends. Simple huh? Three people later, this guy tells me that I would have to pay a service charge for someone to come out and change the lock. $65!!! Are you kidding me!! 4 hrs before our plane leaves, he tells I need to pay $65.00 to get our our now uncoded, unlocked door fixed!!! I ran to the hardware store and bought a standard lock so we could leave. I told him I wanted to quit vivint, that I didn't need it any more. He said it would be simple. Only paying $2000.00 would get us out of the contract. Yes $2000 bucks. There controller has always sucked any way. It's a touch screen that when you touch a number a number next to it or under it or above it activates, you can never enter the correct number, so eventually, we stopped arming the home, because unarming it is nearly impossible. We would have to wait for the operator to come on while the alarm screamed in the backgound, and yell the correct code to the operator. Our camera has never worked right. We had to reset it daily, till finally it is just unplugged sitting in our hall closet. I cannot say anything good about vivint. Whatever you do-DO NOT SIGHN UP WITH VIVINT. VIVINT = POOR SERVICE, VIVINT = POOR SERVICE, VIVINT = A COLLASAL RIP OFF.

Vivint set my account up with the wrong email. I have tried MULTIPLE times to get this changed as I am not able to access my account online! I want to change my thermostat settings electronically and view activity. My latest attempt to get my username changed was a week and a half ago. I have called three times since and each time they tell me that they will have their tech support fix the issue. It STILL isn't fixed! I can't imagine how hard this can possibly be. It has frustrated me to the CORE! I'm about ready to cancel my account and have them pick up all their equipment!

The worst experience EVER! A Vivint rep was going door to door in my neighborhood offering "free" 3 day trial, he pushed his way into my house, gave his pitch, and then would not leave all while being incredibly friendly, of course. So I said yes, it's a no risk 3 day trial, right? MISTAKE! During the install they couldn't get the camera to work and couldn't get their system to connect to my router, or their router, but they promised to come back and fix that later(2 days later to be exact), SERIOUSLY! Also once their thermostat was in I immediately noticed the house beginning to get hot, I commented on it and adjusted the temperature several times while they were here and then continued to sweat over the next 24 hrs until, out of desperation I removed their thermostat and wired mine back in.(thank God for the creator of google!) Well I called the Rep and Vivint support to cancel, it was noted to my account and I was told to call back on Monday. Called back on Monday to cancel by phone, emailed the cancellation form, and when the tech came back he removed the system. All taken care of, right? NOPE! They drafted my account on Tuesday $168.99, so a week later, 5 phone calls, half a dozen transfers, and lord knows how much time I'll never get back, I'm still getting notifications from the system and still waiting for a refund!! Needless to say if that orange shirt knocks on your door shut that door, turn out the lights, and tell them no-ones home!!!!

I am completely satisfied with VIVINT. I was sold when VIVINT offered me 100% equipment replacement of my equipment. And they offered me a no increase contract for life. Thank you VIVINT.

I recently discovered that this company was double billing me, for my previous home and my new home. They refuse to refund my money, tell me it's my fault, and then threaten me that I can't stop payment at the bank because "YOUR UNDERCONTRACT". The service has been terrible in my new home, the panel didn't work well, I had terribly long phone wait times, promises of a tech coming and then no shows several times. I would only recommend this company to a criminal. AD

LIES AND SCHEMES. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Had a sales representative come to my door in the late evening. He bombarded my husband and I, came into our house and started snooping around when we were trying to go somewhere that evening. Told us we qualified for a free home security system. He signed us up and then told us we had to pay over 50 bucks a month for it. We couldn't get a word in edge wise, then he quickly left and told us someone would be over to install it shortly. Two guys came over and installed it wrong. The window censors didn't even work and when we accidentally triggered our front door alarm, it took about ten minutes before anyone from the company even bothered to call my cell phone asking if I was ok. So the next day we sent in our letter of cancellation. I tried to call the company to follow up on my cancellation. I got transferred to 6 different people who put me on hold. After an hour, I was finally transferred to someone who said they would help me cancel. He put me on hold and then hung up on me. So i called the sales representative that sold me the equipment and left him a message. Creepily about two minutes later he was on my door step and invited himself in my home again. I told him I wanted to cancel. He told me to call the company. So we did one last time and they told me over the phone to call back in a few days since they don't have my cancellation letter yet and that my bank account wouldn't be charged. But surely enough, the next day I saw a pending charge from Vivint for 150 dollars in my bank account. Luckily I had time to block their charges. This company has made me so angry and is the most dishonest company I have ever come across. Don't buy from them. If you ever want to cancel it wont happen. Their equipment is still in my house and no one will come get it. Guess I'll just get to use the security system for free until someone wises up and realizes IM NOT PAYING FOR IT. idiots.

I have nothing but good to say about them. My system never had a problem. I had extremely fast response time and always good customer service. The only thing I am not crazy about is the length of the contract and it's in readability. Becomes a problem if you have to move in muddle and cannot take system with you. If they would make change to that or at least let you go month to month when contract period over I would give highest review

THIS IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY! THEY HAVE ZERO KNOWLEDGE!! THEY INSTALLED THEIR THERMOSTAT AND I CANCELLED THE SYSTEM, THEY MESSED UP ALL OF MY WIRING AND WHEN I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY SAID "THERE IS NO PROOF OUR TECHNICIAN DID THAT" AWFUL COMPANY!
