For only $19.95 a month, customers can receive a full array of home security devices, including motion sensors, security cameras, touchscreens, and glass-break sensors. Each Ackerman security system is custom-built to ensure the client’s specific home security needs are being completely addressed. Ackerman provides a free consultation to help give customers an idea of the system requirements before they have to buy.

Home Automation

Ackerman also provides a number of impressive home automation options you can add to your security system including door sensors, wireless monitoring, various detectors, and other security equipment. Customers can arm/disarm their systems, control locks, thermostats, and lights, receive text and email notifications, and even view live video surveillance camera footage all through Ackerman’s mobile app.

Monitoring Service

In addition to building custom home security and automation systems, Ackerman Security systems provides professional monitoring service for burglars, fire situations, and medical emergencies. All systems have the option for broadband internet monitoring, which can be either a handy backup or less intrusive alternative to traditional landline monitoring.

Ackerman strives to provide more in the customer service department by offering a 200% money-back guarantee.     I setup a scheduled appointment over a month ago to get a wireless speaker installed in my bedroom. The tech showed up without the equipment and told me a product to order. When he came back out to install the product he told me to order, he said it was the incorrect product and he would grab the correct product from the warehouse and get installed. Fast forward 2-3 weeks when he gets back to do it, he installs the product and leaves it charging right next to the system. I go to put in my room last night thinking it was working. I test out this morning and it is not working. I put the speaker right next to the system and now the system is saying there is a loss of sensor zone.

    When the company called because my alarm went off and was disabled, I voice my displeasure with the caller who says thanks for choosing Ackerman and hangs up on me.

    I am beyond frustrated at this point with everyone I have come into contact with this Company. I am ready to cancel my service and switch to another Company.

    You do not want to do business with this company. .On 2 occasions the service people came out.($ 89.00 fee) and was unable to fix the system., They left me with a partial unsecured home each time. Even though they are not able to fix the malfunctions in the system they will not release me from the contract. The supervisor option is if I leave the company I will pay for the remaining 8 months of the 3 year contract or pay for a cellular system at 15% off so that I would have security. Remember it is Ackerman who is unable to fix the problem but it is the customer who must pay.

    A service call to address my window issue took more than a week
    A sales call to install new devices never happened since sales person showed up did not have the sales order
    Subsequent calls were not addressed
    Above all – they have a 12 month renewing contract which requires written cancellation before 60 days.
    They also expect you to cancel by writing a letter.
    Very poor service, customer service.
    This company is all about making money from mediocre service and cancellation fees.
    They make ton of money in cancellation services. Mine is 300 plus dollars. I bought all my equipment and not that they gave for free. I paid for maintenance and not that they gave it for free.

    Customers should open their eyes about this company and their policies.

    This company has very misleading business practices with their fees- especiallly charges for dispatches. They will say a dispatch is needed, when it is not, only to inform you of the $89/per 30 minute fee after the visit. Also, the visit is another chance to push products you don’t need. If you signed up for direct debit for payment you will have to dipsutw with your bank. This is just one example. They should not be trusted with your finances or security.

    After having been with Ackerman for over 2 years, I ran into a personal situation where I requested my account be put on hold. I was told that I could not put my account on hold but that it would have to be cancelled. I even explained to them my personal situation but they did not care to work with me. They are not the Customer Loyalty company that they say they are!!!
    There are too many other really good security companies here in Atlanta so what I recommend is that you use a security company other than Ackerman. That is what I plan to do. What a disappointment; they really don’t care about the Customer!!!!

    Were not monitoring my alarm for 2 months, never called when my alarm went off. They were receiving the signal, then said they were not . Said that it was a courtesy by them to let me know if my alarm signal was not being received. Agent gave me two months free to cover the months that I paid for and that they were not covering my system. Now when I went to cancel my alarm, they are charging me for those months(which I already paid for). They are awful. Act as though you are working for them when it is the other way around….

    I have tried to cancel service with this company for 6 months. We moved my mother and they refuse to discontinue service. I have sat on hold with them for over 40 minutes before someone told me that I had to fill out forms to cancel and they had to be mailed. Then they wanted a death certificate because it was in my fathers name (he died in 2004) and refused to cancel without it. Funny, they sure did cash the checks that were not in his name….

    Awful customer service – the woman actually compared the Company to COMCAST, which we all know has the worst customer service! Why does no one in customer service understand that without customers they would not have a job?

    I have been with Ackerman since 2011. I upgraded my system in 2015. After my husband past, I found I could no longer afford my home and moved out of state. Ackerman refused to cancel the contract and told me I owed them in access of $1200. I have requested several times for consideration. If I had stayed in the area, I would have transferred my system but that was not possible. There must be better companies to deal with.

    We have been customers of Ackerman since 1998. All was fine until 2012 when we changed telephone service from Bell South to Comcast phone service. Although we have paid for Ackerman monitoring service continually, we learned from the Ackerman technician last month that our security system does not work with the Comcast phone service, and apparently has not been working since we switched phone service in 2012.
    I understand we are at fault for not “testing the system monthly,” as the people I’ve spoken to at Ackerman are quick to point out. However, we had an Ackerman technician here at least once for service since 2012 (battery replacement in 2014) and although the invoice said “Tested signals – OK,” it was not possible that the call in service functioned.
    I have tried to cancel our service. My first call was at 5:15 pm last week, but the office was closed. On Friday 7/22 I called at 4:43, and was transferred to the “Customer Loyalty” department for cancellation. After over 30 minutes on hold, I called again on another phone and was told the department was closed, and they were sorry I was on hold for what ended up being, literally, 45 minutes because I really wanted to get this behind me. I insisted on speaking to a manager, and a manager (“Ms. J”) did call back over an hour later and apologized, but still could not cancel my service but said she would pass along my complaint to her supervisor.
    Today I got through to the cancellation department, and was told I need to complete paperwork, after which I am required to give a 60 day notice to cancel my service. They said it was “for my home security.”
    Just wanted to share this – customer beware! I am giving them a 2 rather than a 0 for 1) the early years of satisfactory service, 2) the most recent tech who was honest enough to tell us our service could not have been working since 2012, and 3) “Marcelle” who I spoke to today, who, although delivering news on Ackerman’s extortionist 60 day cancellation policy, was as pleasant as she could be. She said a manager would call me back today, and even called me back to say (not surprisingly) that the manager would indeed not be calling back today, but to expect a call back tomorrow morning.

    Beware of Ackerman security they have no moving clause in their contract. If you sign a contract with them and you move out of their service area they will go after you to pay it in full. They do this even though they can provide you with no service for your money. This is a terrible way to do business it is totally unethical.

    Tech misdiagnosed problem, salesman sold me wrong equipment with a new three year contract, all prepaid. Still not working and i am out about $300. By the way, i am a longtime customer or Zi would have never agreed to this.

    Just THE WORST!
    This company has no follow-up, minimal customer responses and they are obviously completely overwhelmed.
    Switching to them is the single worst decision I have ever made.

    A power failure must have drained the 9V back-up battery and now the alarm system beeps endlessly at night. FORTUNATELY, I know how to turn the whole system off; if my wife were here alone she would have to hear this all day and all night!

    Ackerman’s time window–AND I pay extra for their “wire maintenance plan”–SIX FRIGGING DAYS!! Can you believe that?

    Ackerman is terrible. Shady service people repairing with used parts and willing to do side work installing cameras and smoke alarms on the side purchased from e-bay. The service takes days and the Georgia office is nice but the local service people could give a rats behind that your system is down.

    HORRIBLE PRODUCT! The sensor fell off of the white cardboard attached to the window that they initially attached and changed out several times. I reattached it, AGAIN, and now the yellow caution light is on. I call to get it cleared, as I have done quite a few times before, and the young man tells me that the only way to get it cleared is to have a technician come out. ARE YOU CRAZY? I’m not paying for that when you can assist me over the phone. He couldn’t, I Googled, set off the alarm and they call me. I tell the lady what happens, she’s trying to have me pay a fee to a technician come out as well. Spoke with a supervisor. Guess what, SHE DOESN’T KNOW EITHER! What a joke! She has me put a code in to bypass that zone so if someone wants to break in, THEY CAN because no one there can assist me. I can’t WAIT until this contract is up. NEVER AGAIN ACKERMAN!

    I noticed an error message on our panel and called to see if our alarm is working. They said they haven’t received a signal from us in months. However, I could still set the alarm and the lights showed ready. I asked them to cancelmy sservice and he told me i had to do this in writing via email. I can’t locate the email address to contact anyone on their website. I call back and they say they are in sales and do not have the email address to provide. That department is open until 5. This has been a total waste of money.

    Since being back with Ackerman it has been problem after problem. I reactivated my system on good faith that the service had changed. I paid the past due balance on the faith that the representative said that the service was better. They upgraded my system and assured me that nothing would change. I haven’t had basement coverage since. They reactivated the system upstairs and did nothing for the basement it’s been over a month since I complained about this issue and I’m now being told that nothing can be done not unless I pay $89.95. I purchase this system from Ackerman in 2012 and upgraded to digital in 2016 it has not been a year and I have had piss poor service. This is unfair and rip off. I spoke Michelle a customer service representative that showed no compassion for my safety and she was short and rude. She was told to tell me that it’s nothing they can do by her supervisor Andrew. I feel as though this is unjust. Ackerman is a piss poor alarm system company and I will make it my business to let anyone that want an alarm system to not choose Ackerman. This company run gimmicks and they are fraudulent not to mention the customer service is poor. You train and send your agents out in the community to sale these systems and they do not tell you all the hidden shenanigans that’s in the contract. I’m very displeased with the customer service and the insulation that was done. I can’t even enjoy my system the way I use to, because the reactivation was done poorly, now you want me to pay for your technician’s poor work Ackerman a fraudulent company stay away go with ADT or another company as I should have done.
