AlarmForce was a Canadian-based home security company acquired by Bell Canada in 2017. Since then, it appears that they exist under different names throughout Canada and the United States. To find a home security system still in operation, see our top companies.

They provide home automation, home security, and alarms for individuals and businesses. The company’s equipment. Equipment from the company is provided by Alarm.com

Pros

LifeTime Warranty on Equipment

*This information applied to AlarmForce before they were acquired in 2017

AlarmForce also offers a free lifetime equipment warranty in the event that one of your home security devices malfunctions unexpectedly. In addition to the latest home security devices, AlarmForce also provides home automation options and backup cellular monitoring, so that no matter where you go you’ll be able to control important devices like locks, cameras, and more.

While its equipment is high-quality, customers may be disappointed to find that less standard equipment is offered with AlarmForce’s $29.99-a-month monitoring. Each home security package from AlarmForce comes standard with two door/window contacts. Homeowners with more than one window and one door to cover must pay for additional contacts.

Appears to No Longer Exist

As of 2017, AlarmForce became a subsidiary of Bell Canada Enterprises, BCE. From 1988 to 2004, this company serviced Canada only. When they were acquired, BCE siphoned off customers in Western Canada to Telus. Customers in Eastern Canada now have their home security systems monitored by various BCE companies. The following is a list of Canadian provinces and which companies now service former AlarmForce customers

Available Only to Canada until 2004

  • Alberta: acquired by TELUS in this region
  • British Columbia: acquired by TELUS in this region
  • Saskatchewan: acquired by TELUS in this region
  • Manitoba: Under the BCE company, AAA Secure
  • New Brunswick: Under the BCE company, NextGen Home Security
  • Newfoundland and Labrador: Under the BCE company, NextGen Home Security
  • Nova Scotia: Under the BCE company, NextGen Home Security
  • Prince Edward Island: Under the BCE company, NextGen Home Security
  • Ontario: Under the BCE company, Bell Smart Home or Bell Security and Automation
  • Quebec: Under the BCE company, Bell Smart Home or Bell Security and Automation

In 2004, AlarmForce expanded its reach into the U.S. in the following states: North Carolina, Ohio, Georgia, Minnesota, Florida. In 2017, they sold their contracts with U.S. customers to Select Security. This company has an average consumer rating of 0.4 out of 10 on Best Home Security Companys.

Our Recommendation

Since 2019, every review of AlarmForce on our site has been negative. Most of these are customers touching on their dissatisfaction with whatever company AlarForce and Bell Canada Enterprises sold their contracts to. We do not recommend working with AlarmForce at this time. If you are in the United States, we recommend checking out Protect America. If you are in Canada, we recommend seeing if Frontpoint is in your province.

Worst technical support team, including the very rude supervisor I’ve ever experienced. My security code was changed from the word I set up in August 2017 to an 8 digit password I never set up n’or was I informed or contacted about. First the tech support rep, very hard to talk to and unreceptive to all my concerns, had a hard time discerning what the problem was. Then couldn’t tell me how or when my security code got changed as there was no “record of it”. This back and forth too way too long. He offered to have a supervisor call me back. The supervisor called me back but was rude and deflective right at the start. I asked him how my security code could get changed without me knowing. All he kept saying was there was no record of that code. No effort to to look in to why or how. No apology for this. Just kept giving the same answer. I kept having to explain my concern, he then got even spicier, raised his voice. Wouldn’t look in to the problem. Completely unreal. I told him this is the worst tech support I’ve ever gotten and have no interest in paying your company anymore. He facetiously said “ok”.
The previous rep I spoke to said there was an update in there system a few months ago and something could’ve happened with that. However when he further looked in to it, changed his stance on that and said I never had that code.
Very messed up and very weird.
I will be cancelling my services with them.

All I can say is to avoid this company at all costs. One word describes them; dishonest. They simply do not understand the impact of long-term client engagement and satisfaction. When I first joined them, they told me that if I were to ever relocation to a city where their service is not available, I would be let out of my contract. I ended up moving from Calgary to Houston, and they decided I should stay on the hook for 2.5 years (which I did to avoid hurting my credit score). During my back and forth with them, I confronted them that they didn’t have a list of cities where they operate on their website and if I had know they can’t operate in a city where i could relocation, i would have reconsidered the service. Guess what? they disappeared on me for a week, then came back and updated their website and told me all the info is their. my fight with them was literraly the trigger to update their website.

Cherry on top? after three years of paying for a service, i wasn’t using, i found out that the tenant who was in my house had accidentally packed the equipment with them when they left and I was not able to get it back. fair enough, my bad, i am responsible for this. But get this; after paying over a $1000 for this service, Alarm force charged my credit card another $367 for the equipment which was ancient technology and can be bought off Amazon for under $50. So this add pricing gouging to their resume.

BCE made a bad move purchasing these guys. Simply toxic approach to customer management. I hope this review makes it out for people to learn about Alarm Force’s lack of customer appreciation.

Had an alarm force appointment all set up was happy to have an alarm system in our home. The technician canceled on us I waited and waited with nobody coming I called the AlarmForce number to see what was going on and the team member had all my information wrong and said they called and left messages I received no message at all they didn’t have the right phone number and they were very pushy to make another appointment on days that weren’t good for me I kept telling him those days won’t work for us he was still pushy about it. I think if they made the mistake and canceled on us they should have apologized and rebooked for a day that worked for us cause of the inconvenience on their behalf. I don’t think that’s acceptable

We have been with them for two years and I cannot wait for my contract to be over. 2 weeks after signing we started having issue we was told we have service. They want to up grade us for more money after 2 years we was told our System was old and that’s are issue. They want to charge us every time somthing goes wrong! We have to wait weeks to even get someone out here. Bottom line is our house is not Protected I waited seven minutes for someone to come on the intercom because the connection so bad!!! Then he asked me to Repeat myself several times and this amount of time my house could’ve been robbed and left the time the police would’ve been called this is a on going issue with them! Customer service is horrible Even the supervisor seem an educated about their system. Would not Recommend this company

HORRIBLE customer service!! I tried to cancel and as soon as I mentioned cancellation, the customer service rep put me on hold and then the call abruptly ended. It took me 3 HOURS to cancel the service. I had called a month prior and they told me to call back in a month–they gave me an exact date to call back–so when I called back they told me my contract was “way over” but I would be charged for the rest of the month. When I told the rep this–Gina M.–said there was no documentation that I spoke with someone. Also, shoddy equipment. I should have stayed with ADT. Don’t wasted your time or money.

    ALARMFORCE FRAUD
    DON’T USE ALARMFORCE
    SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME

I’ve been a customer of Alarmforce for 7 yrs now,
My first alarm system with Alarmforce seemed to always stop working at times which is very frustrating so Alarmforce suggested I upgrade to their new system which I did at extra cost to me and it’s been a nightmare ever since, this system is worse then the last one and continues to stop working, my repeated attempts to have Alarmforce come and remove their faulty system is fruitless as supposedly when I upgraded at their suggestion it automatically put me back in a contract for 3 yrs , this was not mentioned when they offered to upgrade to fix the problem so know I’m stuck with a faulty alarm and a contract. I had the technician out 2 days ago to fix a camera, I had to wait 2 and a half weeks for an appointment, the technician fixed the one camera again and now the other camera is not working at all again.
I did this in plenty of time as I was going away for vacation for 3 weeks and wanted to make sure it was all working while I am away.
Now I have no security while I’m away. Great job alarmforce.
When I needed the alarm to work last month when I was alone with the kids and there was an intruder on my property the cameras again were down so the police had no evidence that he was on my property.
I just want you to come and get the alarm and be done with it.
I don’t need the extra frustration, I got the alarm in 2010 for protection as I’m a single parent and on a budget and now I’m still paying for it and it doesn’t work properly.
    UPDATE
Well Alarmforce came to fix my front camera and after it was installed ithe trchnician showed me the camera pic and it was all shaded and dark with a purple lens over it, the technician said the purple picture it was showing would go away in half an hour or so after it adjusted to the light which of course it didn’t, they came out again and changed the camera twice again before it worked properly, they informed me as I was concerned that when the doorbell was rung it no longer ringed to my phone so I could talk to the person at my door, that option was no longer available and now it would send a notification to my phone but it takes 2. 1/2 minutes before I get the alert and by then the person has left as their was no answer. I called into the office about this and they told me they would correct it remotely, they sure did as now when there is motion at any of the cameras it sends me 12 notifications for each motion which kills my phone battery in a very short time. I called Alarmforce again today to try to fix this problem and was told the new cameras has some defects that they are working on and hope to fix it soon.
Please don’t get caught up in the conversation with them that they would come out and replace the faulty equipment with up to date ones then they don’t tell you they just got you with another 3 year contract.
After being with this company as a client for 7 years and many days off of work to stay home and wait for repeated repairs they offer to cancel if I pay them 1236.00 plus tax??
I am taking this to the CRTC and Consumer Protection offices and also have a few newspaper contacts doing a story on the Alarmforce Reviews and how they are not a good choice as an alarm company, The thousands of reviews say it all, there are no happy customers at this company. There are many bad reviews by clients that have no contract and sent the equipment back to Alarmforce only to be told it was never received then they were charged outrages fees for the equipment they sent back.
This is how they treat their customers at Alarmforce.

The ALARM FORCE is a hoax as they won’t tell you any details if the alarm goes off, due to legal liability. Mine went off the other day and they have dispatched the guards without telling me additional information (i.e.: procedures, the guards time of arrival, etc.). I’ve arrived home, checked the perimeter and the guards were not there. What a terrible service. They have told me that if I cancel they will charge me the remainder of the contract. Thoughts on cancellation?

First entering the contract all went well, then the slow billing statements. If I made payments in advance I had to call them because the payments never posted. Called well in advance to advise we would like to cancel upon completion of two year contract and still received a bill 5 months later for each month. Their reason because you must call them to cancel. Then received another bill for the equipment not being returned when I contested and filed a complaint with the BBB then they sent a UPS paid parcel envelope for their equipment. That was returned and I would recommend this company ever to anyone.

i had a contract with this company for 5 years. the first 3 years was OK. After that the system started to fail, fals Alarms the camera not working, when disarmed it armed it self after a minute. Even last year I wanted to cancel services and they told me that I`m to late to do so and my contract extended automatically for another year. So today I called Alarm force again to cancel service and found out, that Alarm force isn`t alarm force anymore and is now called Select Security. Still. They really don`t make it easy to cancel. But the new provider told me, that Alarm force last year could have cancel services because I just had a month to month service. Not happy at all with this company. Terrible service, unreliable and absolutely not to recommend. Buy your own equipment and your better off. Thats what I did.

I use this now but am moving to another state and hope that I can cancel my contract without a lot of hassell. I would not use them again because of their equipment always needing new batteries. I have had to replace batteries at least three or more times a year and that’s to much and to expensive for their batteries and not to mention the fact that I am insecure about the real coverage that I am getting from them. so I would not use them again.

Alarmforce are always available when you call, but they don’t show up for appointments and don’t call to advise you they won’t be there. We scheduled an appointment on May 2nd for our move on June 23rd. Today is June 27th and they still haven’t provided us with a new install date. I can’t recommend their service.

Terrible Company to deal with. When I moved I left the system and the new home owner was to take it over. Alarm Force has been nothing but difficult. They told us on the phone to leave the system and it would be changed to the new name. Now they have put me in the Canada Collections for over $1,000.00 and insist I took the equipment from the house. I did not. The new owner has called them on many occasions & been told it was all good, the equipment was all there, yet again today we are both fighting it out again with Alarm Force. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THUS COMPANY AT ALL! EVER! This is the worst way to begin retirement.

Contracted them for 3yrs. Paid in full. Have all statements, cancelled checks, cancellation confirmation. They send my account to collections for $300. Poor record keeping on there part. I provided all proof to collections and they ignore my documents and ruin credit anyways. With continued harrassment over a fraudulent $300, that isnt owed. Stay away from Alarm Force, they will ruin your credit even if you fulfill your contract.

Alarm force took an hour to send a security guard. When I called customer service, they started in with ‘there’s no guaranteed response time’, ‘it’s not our fault; we contact another security company to come to the property. When I said the guard took an hour, they didn’t stop making excuses. They said it seems long, but offered no apology. They didn’t even offer to call the security company to find out why they were so late and whether they would do better in the future. The bottom line is they have no idea what security is. They figure they can show up, whenever, like tourists, and witness whatever happened. The worst thing is they don’t even contact the police until AFTER the security guard arrives. So there is no security. Three year contract… Now I get it!
