AlarmForce also offers a free lifetime equipment warranty in the event that one of your home security devices malfunctions unexpectedly. In addition to the latest home security devices, AlarmForce also provides home automation options and backup cellular monitoring, so that no matter where you go you’ll be able to control important devices like locks, cameras, and more.

While its equipment is high-quality, customers may be disappointed to find that less standard equipment is offered with AlarmForce’s $29.99-a-month monitoring. Each home security package from AlarmForce comes standard with two door/window contacts. Homeowners with more than one window and one door to cover must pay for additional contacts.

Negative AlarmForce Reviews

Most of the negative reviews for AlarmForce left on Best Home Security Companys in the last year address the changes in ownership. Overall, people are not happy with their new alarm company, no matter which one they got stuck with. The most popular complaint is that customer service is either poor or nonexistent with these new companies. Other common complaints include:

  • Having a contract with a company they did not sign up with, and needing to send in written confirmation of their cancellation.
  • Alarm system malfunctions (especially when getting ahold of the right customer service people can be difficult).
  • Difficulty with home security app, or alarm app not working.

Appears to No Longer Exist

As of 2017, AlarmForce became a subsidiary of Bell Canada Enterprises, BCE. From 1988 to 2004, this company serviced Canada only. When they were acquired, BCE siphoned off customers in Western Canada to Telus. Customers in Eastern Canada now have their home security systems monitored by various BCE companies. The following is a list of Canadian provinces and which companies now service former AlarmForce customers

Since 2019, every review of AlarmForce on our site has been negative. Most of these are customers touching on their dissatisfaction with whatever company AlarForce and Bell Canada Enterprises sold their contracts to. We do not recommend working with AlarmForce at this time. If you are in the United States, we recommend checking out Protect America.     We have had Alarmforce for 3 years now. We recently moved to a new home and took our equipment with us, the installer was very knowledgable and spent time showing me how everything worked and went through the booklet so I would understand how we could change certain things on the system ourselves, as well as showing me what to do if I received a message that the batteries needed changed. I trusted his suggestion on where the equipment should be installed and he was certainly correct. He suggested a remote to keep in our bedroom to set the alarm at night and have by the bed in case of an emergency. It was the best thing we ever did. I recently received a bill for the remote and had a question, the young lady I talked to was very helpful and was able to get the answer to my question and returned my call very quickly. We are extremely happy with Alarmforce!

    Do not use Alarm Force they are a terrible company. False Alarms all the time. Rude Customer service, keep you on hold 30 minutes. Doubt the alarm even works. BUYER BEWARE. Will be cancelling, .

    Alarm Force has terrible customer service. Terrible equipment and high monthly prices.
    I called their customer service number multiple times for help with the sub-standard system that they installed in my home. Since I owed this month’s balance, they would not even give me instruction on how to change my passcode inside my home. I was leaving the state for a week and since I hadn’t paid this month’s bill – then they wouldn’t tell me how to change the code. In other words, they could care less about your safety of your home. Even if you aren’t behind on your bill, you can not have customer service. Also – I have been with this company for over 3 years bc I was roped into a contract with them in order to get this equipment free. When I tried to cancel with them, even after 3 years, they want their equipment back. So my suggestion is – DO NOT use Alarm Force. They do not offer customer service, they do not stand behind their products. They take your money and that is it! I will never, ever recommend them to anyone. In fact, I’ll make sure I tell everyone I know about how disgusted I am with this garbage company. You can count on it.

    Alarm Force will offer you terrible customer service and terrible response time. They will rent you equipment that is cheap and unreliable. Canceling the contract is an absolute nightmare. This is one of the worst customer care experiences I had in my life. Finally I decided to go with professionals (JTL Alarm & Surveillance) in security field. I am currently paying double my monitoring fee and could not be happier with service or overall experience. My best advice: stay away from Alarm Force, what they sell you, is nothing more than promises, lies subpar service experience at best.

    Bad alarm response it takes a long time before that come on the phone and I don’t know why the contract have to be 3 years. I have them a year and few months I have been trying to cancel with them from the first month I receivd their equipment they told me no I have to stick with them or pay thousands of dollar to get rid of them I was on the phone the other day and I heard another person say to someone( that’s your worst nightmare) now that’s not good customer service at all talking about me are some one else . Then I talk to the manager and I told her I was going to walk away and don’t pay anything and let it stay on my credit ‘her reply was (I guess you know the routine)

    I bought this on the recommendation of a radio host. Signed a contract for 3 years. Technician that had me sign paperwork said that the cost of my cameras and equipment was paid for in the lease. It was not. When I cancelled three years later due to a move and not using their service, I had to pay 650$ for the equipment because I could not return and it was lost in the move. Thousands of dollars later, I got sub par service and I double paid for subpar equipment(camera picture was very distorted color wise and not really clear) Definitely nothing like the pictures on their website. Overall not a good company. Do not buy anything from them.
    Funny side note, when I called to cancel, they would not cancel until the end of the month!!! They didn’t want to refund me the 13 days that it would take to get to the end of the month!

    I had a great installation experience. I understand about the limited number of door contacts, but it’s perfect for what my wife and I needed. I wasn’t impressed with the customer service of the “leading alarm” companies I received.

    Very upset with Alarm Force customer service (or lack of). We used their services for ten years with the original equipment and paid the monthly fee every month. In order to get a service call when we had problems with the alarm two years ago, we were told by the technician when he came to our house that if we signed a two year contract, he wouldn’t charge for the service call. I did this and then we had further problems and disconnected the alarm out of frustration. We were transferred to another part of the province and left the old equipment (ten years old and not working) behind and we carried on with the payments for eight months even though we had moved. I stopped payments when I had four more months on the contract, as I felt that I shouldn’t be paying for something that I no longer had and didn’t work anyway. Their customer service department is demanding that I send the now eleven year old equipment back (don’t know where it is now) or pay $200 to cover the cost of it (only fit for the recycling bin) or they will send my account to a collection agency $432.80 which includes equipment, a few months of charges and interest. My advice is to stay well away from their Company.

    A few things made me shy from giving Alarm force a 10. The Representative I spoke to on the phone lie more than once. He told me the equipment was installed with a strong adhesive when in reality they were installed with screws. I specifically did not want holes in the walls. Also, he told me the tech would be hear on one date but set me up for 7 days later. Also, He told me that the alarm had 1 setting. Not a home and away setting. I feel that the people signing up new customers should know what they are talking about.

    On a good note. The response is very quick if the alarm goes off and the dispatcher is polite. the system is easy to use.

    Bad service and very poor alarm response. Once there was an alarm and they called me on my cell to ask if it was real alarm or false. I was at Walmart about 20 min from my house. I knew that there was no one in the house so I asked them to send someone immediately to investigate. I left everything and rushed home and reached in about 20 min. NO one from Alarm Force was there yet. When I called them up to find out why they informed me that the security part is contracted out to third party and they will come at their own schedule when availability is there. I was so so angry and mad when I heard this.
    They advertise on the radio with a very stern manly voice to an Alarm Two-Way response. But in actual practice once there was a false alarm and I was home. An Asian Indian or Pakistani lady came on the two way speaker and asked in a very soft voice to identify yourself.
    Not a good company to be with.

    Alarm Force is a very good company. The installation was great. The tech was very professional. Whenever I called customer service they always very nice and helpful. I have no problem with them. This is a great company compare to the other company.

    They installed hideous equipment that fell apart in no time! The technician advised me that I was on a one year contract, only to find out that it was actually THREE (they offer nothing less), my fault for being rushed and not stopping to read the contract…when I called to cancel they offered no early cancellation fee, instead they advised me that I would have to pay for each month remaining in my contract ( I don’t even think that cell phone companies can do this anymore!!) Anyhow, the customer service is awful, the equipment is bottom of the barrel and not very easy on the eyes, I wouldn’t recommend these guys to ANYONE!!!

    Alarm Force has horrible customer service. We completed our contract and requested to cancel the service. They are requiring for US to uninstall something that was professionally installed. They should be resonsible for uninstalling their equipment. We never even got to use the system because the installer placed the sensor facing a curtain that would constantly detect motion due to the air vent below it! Horrible!!!

    We went with Alarm Force for our commercial property after having it installed in our home.
    We had a break-in Feb 2015 and the thieves managed to bypass the motion sensors and just smashed the alarm box.
    Afterwards, we called AlarmForce and they said no signal was sent and accused us of maybe not setting the alarm. They couldn’t even tell me if it was armed or not even though we are 100% sure that we did.
    They told us we should have gotten the line cut service but the installation guy said it was not necessary in a commercial building and that we did not need additional motion sensors for the area where the alarm box was.
    We asked for a replacement system so that our property would be alarmed again and told us it would take 5 days.
    We tried to get out of our contract and they refused. So we have no security, no monitoring and paying for it still.
    We went with another company which has much higher quality equipment and better service and are still fighting AlarmForce to cancel our contract.

    Alarm Force customer service is horrible. The only thing they care about is their monthly fee and loves to threaten with collection services. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!

    Awful product, no early termination must pay out full contract. Even after contract up, they are trying to charge me for the 4 year old equipment that was taken away by my current security company. They just hit me with a $558. I have left a message threatening legal action as I am not going to be bullied. Apparently, this is quite common practice for them.

    we signed a three year contract. we stopped using the service after a year but since we signed a contract we had to uphold our end of the deal,so we paid the full contract price and cancelled the service. we were not told that we had to do anything else and since we had paid in full we assumed that was it. well 2 years later in Dec 2014 we see alarm force had taken money out of our checking, so we called and were told that they never received their equipment. ok i can understand that so i dont need or want your equipment so come and get it just like when i signed up for your service you sent someone here to put it all in. No, not only do they Not come and get it, they now want me to write an email with a list of this and that and why i am cancelling this service,something i thought i had done 2 years previous and they are going to keep billing me until i find a box and wait for their shipping label to send the equipment back. So did everything they wanted sent the crap back on Jan 5,waited 2 weeks for the shipping label, and look in my checking today,low and behold alarmforce has taken money out AGAIN. called them .yes they have their crap but………But What????? Dont use this company they are suppose to keep the crooks away,they are the crooks

    Video camera needs to be improved. No internal light in camera to take clear images at night. Customer has to have a motion sensor light installed in order for images taken by the camera to be visible. Horrible and a rip off. If for some reason you want to cancel the service, you need to pay out the money for the whole 3 YEARS-whether you have service or not. WHAT A RIP OFF. Not even partial/a percentage of the cost. That is a scam and not fair! I will never sign up for this company again!!!

    I have alarmforce and last year I bought a new home and needed the equipment set up at the new home. My appt was bumped for someone else to have this reinstalled. Needless to say it has been almost 8 months and the equipment is sitting in a shoebox in my closet. What I find remarkable is that they have no problem contacting me if a payment is missed but have no clue that my home is not hooked up with their service. This just proves that the monitoring service is horrible. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
