AlarmForce was a Canadian-based home security company acquired by Bell Canada in 2017. Since then, it appears that they exist under different names throughout Canada and the United States. To find a home security system still in operation, see our top companies.

They provide home automation, home security, and alarms for individuals and businesses. The company’s equipment. Equipment from the company is provided by Alarm.com

Pros

LifeTime Warranty on Equipment

*This information applied to AlarmForce before they were acquired in 2017

AlarmForce also offers a free lifetime equipment warranty in the event that one of your home security devices malfunctions unexpectedly. In addition to the latest home security devices, AlarmForce also provides home automation options and backup cellular monitoring, so that no matter where you go you’ll be able to control important devices like locks, cameras, and more.

While its equipment is high-quality, customers may be disappointed to find that less standard equipment is offered with AlarmForce’s $29.99-a-month monitoring. Each home security package from AlarmForce comes standard with two door/window contacts. Homeowners with more than one window and one door to cover must pay for additional contacts.

Most of the negative reviews for AlarmForce left on Best Home Security Companys in the last year address the changes in ownership. Overall, people are not happy with their new alarm company, no matter which one they got stuck with. The most popular complaint is that customer service is either poor or nonexistent with these new companies. Other common complaints include:

  • Having a contract with a company they did not sign up with, and needing to send in written confirmation of their cancellation.
  • Alarm system malfunctions (especially when getting ahold of the right customer service people can be difficult).
  • Difficulty with home security app, or alarm app not working.

Appears to No Longer Exist

As of 2017, AlarmForce became a subsidiary of Bell Canada Enterprises, BCE. From 1988 to 2004, this company serviced Canada only. When they were acquired, BCE siphoned off customers in Western Canada to Telus. Customers in Eastern Canada now have their home security systems monitored by various BCE companies. The following is a list of Canadian provinces and which companies now service former AlarmForce customers

Available Only to Canada until 2004

  • Alberta: acquired by TELUS in this region
  • British Columbia: acquired by TELUS in this region
  • Saskatchewan: acquired by TELUS in this region
  • Manitoba: Under the BCE company, AAA Secure
  • New Brunswick: Under the BCE company, NextGen Home Security
  • Newfoundland and Labrador: Under the BCE company, NextGen Home Security
  • Nova Scotia: Under the BCE company, NextGen Home Security
  • Prince Edward Island: Under the BCE company, NextGen Home Security
  • Ontario: Under the BCE company, Bell Smart Home or Bell Security and Automation
  • Quebec: Under the BCE company, Bell Smart Home or Bell Security and Automation

In 2004, AlarmForce expanded its reach into the U.S. in the following states: North Carolina, Ohio, Georgia, Minnesota, Florida. In 2017, they sold their contracts with U.S. customers to Select Security. This company has an average consumer rating of 0.4 out of 10 on Best Home Security Companys.

Our Recommendation

Since 2019, every review of AlarmForce on our site has been negative. Most of these are customers touching on their dissatisfaction with whatever company AlarForce and Bell Canada Enterprises sold their contracts to. We do not recommend working with AlarmForce at this time. If you are in the United States, we recommend checking out Protect America. If you are in Canada, we recommend seeing if Frontpoint is in your province.

Alarm Force was horrible!!! There was no land line and so they installed something. It never worked. Installed in 11/2010 and we gave up by 04/2011. I paid the contract out for the 3 years and they began strong arm tactics to have their equipment returned. I was there when the technician removed a hallway sensor. Now they are harassing me for the cost of something their tech kept – Ha Ha Good Luck!! Do not deal with this company – Read the reviews!!!!

What a terrible company to deal with when things go wrong. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone looking for a home “security” system. Sure the alarm box they stick under your kitchen table (because the technician doesn’t want to do any more work than she needs too) will make a lot of noise when the alarm is triggered…but half the time the central station can’t hear you. A couple of times I waited to see how long the response time was and I eventually gave up. Cancelling the service is a nightmare. Be prepared to wait several weeks for your cancellation email to be “processed” (yes, you can only cancel via email and they don’t bother to acknowledge the cancellation for several weeks – or in my case when I threatened to file a complaint with BBB). My advice would be to send the email and then call back several days later to confirm they received it. I read on several forums that people sent in the cancellation email only to be told several weeks later that they never received it and had to resent it again. After they finally acknowledge your cancellation be prepared to wait another 2 weeks to receive the return box so you can return the equipment (nope, you can’t bring it back personally and of course they don’t pick it up). So after you send back the box with all the equipment, then you wait until they get around to checking inspecting what you sent and processing the return….and all the while you’re still paying for the service you don’t need. So cancel these jokers well in advance to avoid the hassle and paying them more money than they deserve.

We have had Alarm Force for 5 years and have always been completely satisfied with them. The few times that our alarm has gone off there was prompt response from the company and authorities. I personally like not having to worry about paying for the maintenance on the system. Their staff has always been helpful and always available.

Very skimpy offering compared to other companies. We went with Alarm Force two years ago. We had to pay extra for door sensors because they only included two in the package. We are tied to a $31.00/mo payment and our contract runs out Oct. 2014. I’m shopping for another package with another company.
