  • Equipment: AMP Security uses Honeywell equipment in their home security systems. The Honeywell Touch i5000 is the brains of the AMP Security system. Some of Honeywell’s Touch i5000 unique features include full-color touch screen, two-way voice GSM cell, news alerts, and home control integration.
  • Special Features: Geofencing is smart automation feature offered by the alarm company. It is a digital perimeter around your property that allows users to link AMP system devices. Customers can sync their AMP alarm and AMP Smart home automation systems with a smartphone so your home knows when you are away or approaching. When you come within a predetermined distance of your home, the mobile app network will prepare your home for your arrival without having to use the control panel.
  • Monitoring: Home security and automation can all be accessed and controlled from mobile devices via the AMP mobile app. Availability, however, is dependent on different monitoring options and what is chosen. Some of these options allow you to control your security system and watch video monitoring of your property with your smartphone or computer, yet some do not. The garage door, lights, air conditioning, locks, and even TV can be preprogrammed to how you’d like them for your arrival.
  • Cancellation: If you have AMP Security and decide to cancel it will cost $1,250 or the remaining of your account balance, whichever ends up being less. In addition, it is difficult to find information on AMP Security’s pricing, installation cost, or contract length on their website. We called AMP customer service to retrieve that information, they told us we would have to be contacted by a sales agent at their earliest convenience.
  • Our Recommendation: While they offer quality equipment, the high cancellation costs and other unknowns prevent us from recommending their services. Prospective customers should look into Protect America and Frontpoint.

    I would give less if possible. Sales guy was slimmy and scam artist. He told us we would get 3K worth of FREE equipment. After everything was installed they tried to make us sign an INTEREST FREE payment agreement. We told them it is not what we agreed to and that they could tale everything & leave. Installation guy called his office and it spunded like we we’re not the first to have this problem that day. He would not take equipment down and said sales rep would call us back. He randomly showed up the following day. I politely informed him that what he sold us on was not what we received & that it was a Sunday to please leave our family at peace and take the equipment. He did not leave and used pressure sales tactics. After my husband had to firmly tell him to leave he did.

    Furthermore, the equipment is sub par. It is slow when you try to access it from your phone and most of the time the door bell camera does not connect. As soon as electricityor internet goes down you have zero security. In FL during hurricane season that is not good…. we know this because it has been a month and no one has returned our phone call to return the equipment. Would NEVER recommend – in fact I am sure to mention to avoid it to anyone I hear looking for security.

    Signup for AMP Smart if you want to OVERPAY! Plus they will do a hard credit check, while denying it and try to get you into a 5-year contract with no cancellation options.

    First of all I was told that I could cancel this service in five days so when I called to cancel they told me no you should cancel in three days so the verbal agreement that I had with the sales rep meant nothing also this service has been very poor the monitoring system will say that I have a door open when there is no door open so it will set off an alarm it has also said that the l Glass was b breaking call the police out there was no glass broken! I don’t even use the Service anymore but I’m still paying for it I also tried to get a hardship cancellation and they would not allow it ! For god sake never get this service it sucks

    They sale them self well but you have to watch out for the things they are not willing to tell you on the contract easy to get into but will cost you to get out so make sure they explain and read the contract the only give you three days to get out of it which is not long enough to see if it’s worth it the Mistake I made and it cost me and didn’t get everything I was supposed to get there good just to get you to sign the contract anything over a thousand clip on your video you want to watch you have to pay for which other unlimited and they don’t tell you that you get a thousand clip a month wouldn’t recommend to no one now I am stuck with equipment I can use

    Worst mistake we made. Had to call company to get a copy of my contract. Called them first and wanted to cancel. $1250 to cancel and told me my contract was a 5 year contract. When it was installed we were told it was a 2 year contract. Nothing was said about automatic renewal. Found that out when I received copy of contract. U must write them 30 days before the end of the contract. Not easy to work with and when I called them they were rude. Do Not go with this company.

    Be careful with this company, they have a very expensive cancellation fee and do not inform you about it before you sign the contract. Also they do offer only a 5 years contract while other companies do two or three years for a lesser monthly payment.

    I highly regret going with AMP smart for our security system. Very expensive for what you get. And what you get is crap. Half the time our doorbell camera and house mounted cameral don’t pick up movement outside our house, no matter how many times we play with the camera settings or call customer service. It also only records for a certain amount of time per clip. So if someone is breaking into your backyard and taking things out of your shed, for example, it *may* capture them but only for about 10 seconds. But then it will capture 200 clips of the wind blowing in the middle of the night and use up your clip limit. Oh yea, there’s that too that they DO NOT TELL YOU. You’re only allotted a certain number of clips per month. You can PAY ADDITIONAL for more clips, which is asinine considering what they charge for this garbage service to begin with. This company is scam. We have had them close to a year now and I’m seriously considering just paying the hefty cancellation fee, which will sadly, end up being a fraction of the total cost of our 5 YEAR CONTRACT they dupe you into. Just horrible….STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

    This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. 2 months after my initial install the women stopped working. I contacted them many times and they advised me they had no 1 to service said within 4 weeks. I waited the 4 weeks nobody ever showed up i call them again and they advised me that they have no 1 scheduled to come service the equipment. I rescheduled and still no one could come out. After several months, I advised t by email that I am not going to pay for something that is not working. The worst customer service and alarm equipment ever! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

    BUYER BEWARE. Do yourself a favor and RUN if AMP Smart Security tries to sell you their services. In July, 2016, a rep of theirs came to our home and informed us that our alarm security provider at the time (ADT) was “no longer monitoring this area,” and that AMP Security had been sent to replace our service with Guardian.
    We naively signed with them (although the rep conveniently didn’t leave a copy of the agreement, and, when I later called about it, they said it had been emailed to me).
    I wish I had called ADT to verify their claim. It turns out that it was a complete fabrication on the part of the sales rep. ADT never stopped monitoring our area. AMP Smart lied to us.
    Please understand that AMP Smart is a third party managing your service. You are not dealing directly with your monitoring company. They sold us on Guardian, and then, two years later, switched monitoring services on us with no notification and no new yard signs or window stickers. I didn’t even know they’d bait-and-switched us until I called Guardian to get the numbers I needed for our city’s permit updates. Guardian informed me that they hadn’t been monitoring our house for months and that they were no longer doing business with AMP Smart. (Can’t say I blame them.)
    When I called to cancel due to all of the misleading practices, they said I would have to pay over $1,000.00 in early cancellation fees. So, we are stuck in contract with AMP Smart for 33 more months.
    After that, we’ll switch back to an ethical and professional security company.
    I hope this review prevents someone from making the same mistake that we did.

    Amazing equipment. My home is smart homed out! Thier cameras blew a away the ones I that I installed myself last year. I also added some things off Amazon and added them to thier system myself! A Google home now controls my zwave lights and the whole amp smart system including the thermostat and deadbolt I got from them. Never thought changing my home into a smart home could be this easy.

    At the end of the day I was looking for a company that would protect my home the right way. They made it so affordable with no out of pocket cost for the Equipment and they installed it for free. I would highly recommend this company. Great service!

    WORST SERVICE EVER! In less than a month after installation we’ve had 4 false alarms due to faulty equipment, twice police were dispatched. We had two windows that would not arm, the door bell feature works randomly. We have called to complain 8 times and still the service isn’t working 100%. 4 hours after calling, another false alarm! The police say if we get one more a charge of $200 will be given to us. Throughout this whole nightmarish ordeal their customer service has been complacent. No urgency to get it fixed. Today is Saturday and they won’t send anyone out until Thursday! WARNING: do NOT open your door to these people! They promise 24 contact. Not true: weekends and holidays you get no answer. Hopefully the thieves keep this schedule too. I personally feel AMP services are a “SCAM”. Steer clear, do not purchase this service!

    Made the worst decision ever by converting over to Amp Smart. I’ve had the system for maybe a month and has yet to work properly. Everytime I’ve left my home or went out of town my system continues to go off. They’ve came out several times and have yet to fix the problem. At this point I do not have a peace of mind. I had my suspension about this company and should have went with my instinct. I have been a nervous wreck since. DO-NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY.

    Not only do I constantly need to “troubleshoot” my front door security, but when I wanted to cancel my service.. after more than a year of trying to find a resolve…I was told that I signed a 5 year contract and the fee to cancel was outrageous! I most certainly did NOT sign a 5 year contract, so the service rep lied.

    After 5 minutes of talking without letting me say anything, when he said he was going to take his shoes off and come inside, I stopped him and said we weren’t interested. After a few times saying this, he turned to leave and said, well I will go where there’s more intelligent people.
    If that’s the kind of sales people they use, why would ANYONE want their product?

    We have had AMP Security systems for 3 months. It still does not work correctly. The time is still off by one hour instead of 4 hours. So if we have a true emergency we will be dead by the time an ambulance or local police arrive.

    The system is not reliable and we are literally throwing money away. We want to cancel this subscription because it is not what they advertised it to be and has not worked correctly since day one. We do not feel safe and secure with AMP and we want all of our money back.
