  • Equipment: AMP Security uses Honeywell equipment in their home security systems. The Honeywell Touch i5000 is the brains of the AMP Security system. Some of Honeywell’s Touch i5000 unique features include full-color touch screen, two-way voice GSM cell, news alerts, and home control integration.
  • Special Features: Geofencing is smart automation feature offered by the alarm company. It is a digital perimeter around your property that allows users to link AMP system devices. Customers can sync their AMP alarm and AMP Smart home automation systems with a smartphone so your home knows when you are away or approaching. When you come within a predetermined distance of your home, the mobile app network will prepare your home for your arrival without having to use the control panel.
  • Monitoring: Home security and automation can all be accessed and controlled from mobile devices via the AMP mobile app. Availability, however, is dependentĀ on different monitoring options and what is chosen. Some of these options allow you to control your security system and watch video monitoring of your property with your smartphone or computer, yet some do not. The garage door, lights, air conditioning, locks, and even TV can be preprogrammed to how you’d like them for your arrival.
  • Cancellation: If you have AMP Security and decide to cancel it will cost $1,250 or the remaining of your account balance, whichever ends up being less. In addition, it is difficult to find information on AMP Security’s pricing, installation cost, or contract length on their website. We called AMP customer service to retrieve that information, they told us we would have to be contacted by a sales agent at their earliest convenience.
  • Our Recommendation: While they offer quality equipment, the high cancellation costs and other unknowns prevent us from recommending their services. Prospective customers should look into Protect America and Frontpoint.

    I was so impressed with Ray, his attitude, his personal belief in the product, he pointed out area’s our home was easily accessible to crooks. He was able to reassure that our family would be safe. It was an amazing experience. It was like he was the crook and pin pointed our weaknesses and was able to make them strong and secure.The products are amazing… AMP security was amazing, I have recommended him to my family and friends only having it in my home for a day “I’M A FIRM BELIEVER IN THIS” Thank you RAY… YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

    Ray was very thorough and solved all my objections. Fun new toys to learn to make me safe. I like the medical pendant also total connect app that allows my sons to access the system and help protect me. Love the Skybell that let’s me see who’s there & talk to them without having to open the door or even see them when I’m away. Ray came back for follow up which made me very happy.

    When I moved, I tried to cancel my service, at the time, I was told I had signed a two-year contract and the cancellation fee was around $1,500, well the two years ended today, so I called to cancel my service, now they’re telling me I signed a five year contract, wtf I thought, now I have to wait 3 more years, I’m thinking this organization is crooked?

    their sales reps aggressively attempt to enter your home to ‘inspect’ your alarm panel. The scare tactics involve telling you that it is out of date and since they work for Honeywell (false) they can upgrade you for free if you sign a contract for service. Just total BS. They start out polite but they just feel ‘criminal’ to me and seem to be checking out our home for future break ins. I really worry about these guys.

    Sold my house and wanted to put the system/account on hold for six months until our new house was built and we could re-install and re-activate the account. Dealing with this company was MORE TROUBLE than selling the house! I called them to let them know the above and filled out the written request they sent and they called again today and said I needed proof that I had sold the house or it was uninhabitable. I talked to a kid in customer service then her supervisor and got NOWHERE. I told them to let the account run so I can pay out of it and I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN AND I WILL TELL ANYONE THAT WILL LISTEN THE SAME THING.

    I had AMP install a system in my home February 2014. The sales rep and technicians were very knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend this company. I see they have complaints. My only suggestion is understand the contract and what you’re getting into before going a head with it. That goes for any contract or service you sign up for.

    Scammers; came to my house, told me everything would be totally free since they were testing out my area and wanted advertising. After four hours of aggressive and pushy sales pitch and having hardware installed I was totally worn down, then I find out that I’m paying $55 per month for FIVE years. I can only cancel if I pay $1,250 up front which I can’t afford. I still have another 4 years to go and I’m struggling to pay the monthly fee but they could care less. FALSE sale’s pitch, Aggressive salespeople. I felt totally worn down and pressured into this service!!!

    Sales reps arrived at my door on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, and they were very friendly and polite. I welcomed them in to my home and enjoyed their presentation. I had to leave so therefore they asked if they could return the next day around 1:00 p.m. Eddie returned on Thursday at the time he specified and had checked out the information I had given him and had a plan that would fit my situation. I was very impressed by his interest in the security of my home. I learned a lot about security systems from him. Eddie remained until the technician [Jeff] arrived. The technician was very thorough in his work and knowledgeable about the equipment and knew how to troubleshoot when something was not responding as it should. He left the property clean and secured. Thanks for great employees. I highly recommend this company and especially these three employees.

    We upgraded our system a few months ago with AMP who put a Guardian Security system in our home. It is easy to like a system like this since they are so simple to use especially with the ability to control from the phone. The touch screen is nice too since we like to leave a window open during the cooler months and leaving one sensor off was a pain on our last system, However the reason for my review is because my wife and I set our alarm off accidentally by opening our bedroom window the other night while it was armed. The alarm immediately went off and by the time I walked to the keypad they were already talking to me over the intercom. I was really impressed especially since previous systems we had were quick but not even close to that fast. I could hear the girl on the intercom loud and clear. That gave me a little more piece of mind knowing that if it had been a real burglar they would have responded very quickly.

    The only issue I have wasn’t actually their fault. I wanted the garage door opener feature. I have an idrive garage door opener and it is one of the few that are not compatible with the garage door feature. That was a bummer but I understand that my garage door motor is not the standard type. They hooked me up with a smart dead bolt instead though and now I can lock my front door from my phone.

    Overall it was a great experience and I have already recommended to my two sisters who also got the system.

    Well now I know to check with the BBB before committing to something that sounds to good to be true…

    1. SALES REP
    (Sean) had great customer service (of course) but everything out of his mouth was lie…

    – I explained I was monitoring my credit closely and did not want to run it because I did not want a hard inquiry. He assured me nothing would go on my credit because I did not give my SSN and he pays a fee of $15 to ensure it goes down as a soft inquiry.

    Next morning I get an alert saying I have a new HARD INQUIRY??!!!

    – Sean repeatedly told me the monthly fee would be no more than $1 a day and at the end when I am signing forms he reveals my monthly dues will be $55.99 a month before taxes.

    – Sean showed up at my door step at 6:00 PM. It had been a long work day and I was busy with my kids homework, dinner, my own homework and other things around the house. I told him we may need to schedule the installation for a day when I had more time. He repeatedly said “his techs are down the street and once they get here it will be no more than 30 minutes, tops”

    The techs were there in 20 minutes and started right away but did not leave until 11:00 PM!!!

    2. TECHNICIANS

    – The tecs argued amongst themselves about the placement of the key pad, chose a wall and thrashed it before deciding to move it to another wall. They did apologize and gave us a “free” key chain (that did not work) and said they would be back Saturday morning before noon to repair the damages to the wall.

    – Saturday comes around and they were a no call, no show.
    12:00 – I called the sales rep to find out what was going on he informed me they were on the way.
    1:00 – Tech calls and says he’s stopping at Home Depot and will be on his way.
    4:00 – I call tech, he answers and hangs up, I call again, he sends it to voicemail and texted back “I’m busy right now, what’s up?”

    Monday morning I spoke to customer service, we set up an appointment for them to come out and pick up the equipment Tuesday afternoon.

    Again…. I sat there and waited, and waited… NEVER SHOWED!!

    – Now I have to be inconvenienced once again because the only way I can get my wall fixed is to have three different contractors come out and give estimates of the damage, then after faxing them the info AMP will choose which one they want to go with. After it is repaired I will get reimbursed (supposedly)

    Supposedly they will be there today for sure to pick up the equipment.

    At this point I am so frustrated with this company that I want the CRAP (motion sensor does not even work) out of my home and I never want to deal with them again!!!

    I know it will be a waste of time to expect this untruthful company to reimburse me for the damage they caused to my home.

    Their credibility is out the window and I will also be reporting this to BBB

    We had AMP install an alarm system in our home two years ago after checking out a few other places. It seemed like the other alarm companies we spoke with offered cheap equipment and cookie cutter packages. AMP have us a touchscreen system with the ability to control it with our phone and customized the sensors to fit our concerns. We haven’t had any issues. We have accidentally set it off a few times and someone comes over the speaker within seconds. Being able to control the alarm from my iphone is one of the best features. We just recently moved and we called to see what our options were and they moved the system to our new home for free right away. They have been great and we recommend them.
