The more expensive plan is called the ‘Interactive’ plan which gives you SMS/email alerts, secret alerts, and the ability to arm & disarm remotely. You pay for your equipment upfront which typically ranges between $200 and $500+.
  • No long-term contracts: Simplisafe does not require its customers to sign into lengthy contracts. Instead their contracts are month-to-month and you are paying for your equipment up front.
  • Equipment: all standard types of home security equipment is available and customized based on your needs. From window sensors and motion sensors, to security cameras and smoke detectors. Simplisafe also has an app that allows you to manage your system remotely. The one downside with their equipment is that it’s a DIY installation. This is a downside for many who seek to have a system installed for them professionally. The equipment you purchase has a 3-year warranty and a 60-day money-back guarantee.
  • Simplisafe is a really good home security option for renters: the system is wireless and portable, making it perfect for renting situations.
  • Simplisafe and hackers: in years past Simplisafe has had issues with their hardware getting hacked as reported by Forbes back in February 2016.

    We were broke into with the newest version of simplisafe, and the burglars must have watched the video on Youtube on how to smash the base station within the delay period before the system can call the operators, and we got cleaned out. The burglar took a magic marker and wrote on the living room wall: BUY A REAL ALARM NEXT TIME. I have a photo of it. My insurance company is not covering the claim because they said that Simplisafe is not UL Listed. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. We called a local company.Read More

    The quality of the equipment is terrible and you can't rely on it - it loses periodically connection to the dispatcher center or keypad loses connection to the base. Also, my keychain remote stopped working - and I have it for just about 18 months.. When calling cust support you need to be at home and then you'll spent half an hour doing various testing and resettings. It starts working again but then after a while the same issues come back. Last time when I tried to call the customer support, i spent over 15 minutes waiting to get connected and listening the music and then just hang up. Sick and tired of this, and looking for another and better company, just wasted about $400 on the equipment. Don't wast your money.Read More

    We love this service , we used a different alarm system and the alarm went off and no one was dispatched and we werent called..Now with Simplisafe we are notified right away any time a sensor would go off..And we even have it connected to our phones when we can activate and deactivate the system and even look at our camera and check out house anytime…WE LOVE IT ..Well worth piece of mind

    My husband and I are senior citizens and we have had Simplisafe for about seven years. They are one of the nicest companies we have never dealt with. When I call them on the phone, no matters who answers we get the same great service. In all the years we have been with them they have never gone up on their $14.99 monthly charge. Sometimes we need a new part and the person on the phone has so much patience with old people like us. I don’t know how anyone could make a complaint against this great company. I guess some people will complain about anything. As long as I live and they are still in business we will be together. God Bless Them!

    What can I say? SimpliSafe has the best monitoring service and they are all so polite! My story: yesterday as I was leaving for work, I accidently started my car in my garage with the door closed. So I quickly opened my SimpliSafe secured door to the garage to open the garage door. With the car running in the garage and the door opening I then set my alarm to leave the house. I’m now backing out of my garage and I get a phone call from an 800 number. I pick up phone and hang up because I think it’s a telemarketer. At 4:30 in the morning? Well I did. Then I got another call so I answer it and it was SimpliSafe! At this point my car is out of the garage. They were so nice. For some reason I had set off the alarm off which I could not hear because of all the noise. The first call came in when I was just backing out of garage…. The second when I was just closing door.
    Thank God I picked up! Hint.. put 800-633-2677 in your phone contacts so you know it’s them! So after that episode, that night I couldn’t get the keypad to stop reading an entry sensor was open. At that point it was too late and I didn’t set the alarm. The next morning I went into test mode. Sure enough SimplySafe is calling me! So awesome! I told him I put into test mode to fix the sensory problem if which it did! I just feel so safe!

    What started this whole thing was my keypad was reading log battery which I did not see in all my commotion.

    The overall system works well and installed easy. Monitoring camera has an extreme delay. I’ve timed it up to almost 1 1/2 minutes. I wanted to use it as a real time monitor but due to delay it is useless.
    I also agree with others customer service wait time is unacceptable.
    It also saddens me that the company fecklessly cowered under political pressure regarding arms rights.

    After 3 years I can assure you Customer service never calls you back when they say they will. Their availability on weekends is awful. The location of the base station has to be in the perfect position otherwise equipment will not work. All their faulty pieces have needed to be replaced and although they might send you replacement batteries only Panasonic batteries will work in smoke detector.

    I have original Simpli Safe system and have found out that it is vulnerable to hackers. I took down the signs so as not to attract bad guys. They also changed their support for the NRA. I dont understand why a home security company is against the NRA. SimpliSafe will notify the police in the event of a burglary/Home invasion, but what does the unarmed citizen do while waiting for police ?

    I won’t support simplisafe for those two reasons. Why didn’t they offer a switch out when they discovered their vulnerability?

    This system is perfect for my fixer upper. As doors and windows change, I easily move sensors around to accommodate the new layouts. I’ve had my system for a year and have only had to change a few batteries out of the 30 sensors that I have. My only negative is that it’s frustrating that tech support has limited hours when you want to ask a question. I’ve found all representatives friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this system!!!

    So i cancelled with this company for their knee jerk reaction to a horrible event that happened a while back. Simplisafe then unsupported all NRA members and anyone that believes in the Constitution. They had just taken my money for the month of March and didn’t give it back. I called and he said he would return it. I have yet to see it, but the bigger issue is now if we set it just to let ourselves know of an intruder enters the whole cone blinks Red. If fills two rooms with the light. It not only tells me its not hooked up to a monitoring system but anyone outside. I asked if they could tell me how to remove that and he said, Nope, your are stuck with it. So after buying a $600 machine it is now useless. We have had many other security systems and used them this way. Simplisafe is a gimmick, a joke. Consumers BEWARE!

    While simplisafe is economical option there is little else to write about. Numerous problems with faulty equipment that results in charges for security company to come and check out the situation. If alarms is triggered they are unable to tell you anything about the situation at your house even if the security company does come out. Recently had a alarm go off in a closed interior room. No sign of break in. So they leave with no information and a sick feeling in your gut that your house is violated and charge you money for this. Also customer service doesn’t really seem to care about there crap product.

    Called to cancel my service due to simplisafe’s ignorant decision to publicly cut ties with the NRA and the agent hung up on me. I had to call back to get the cancellation completed. I had the service for about 3 years and, for the most part, it worked well enough. Occasionally set the alarm off and no call was received from the monitoring company.

    Possible help for most popular complaint of connection to base station. Had Simplisafe for several years and feel it’s great value but had continual problem with mobile devices connecting to base station about half of the attempts. Changed from T Moble to Verizon base unit, new base unit, tried 35 different base station locations in 1700 square foot house with no improvement. Then started experimenting.
    Two different modifications have each one eliminated the problem.
    Easiest, take Blue cap off top of tower and plug in a USB cord into the top port and run the cord up and over any direction to form an ‘antenna’ for the base station – the other end is not connected to anything. This fixed my problem.
    The other ‘work around’ is to purchase a WiFi wall outlet plug adapter and place between wall outlet and tower 110 volt plug. Download app for adaptor on your mobile device and anytime you can’t connect to your alarm, go to the adapter app and turn adapter off and then back on. This is same as unplugging tower and plugging back in. Now try to control your alarm again and it will probably work.

    Not even a year old and completely obsolete. I have the “old” model. They’ve replaced it and the new base station is not compatible with existing sensors. This is unacceptable. Maybe the new sensors have addtional features but they should have built compatibility with the old ones too. No way I will replace all my sensors and certainly won’t buy the new one based on this experience.

    This product is ok for an apartment but not a larger (2500 square feet) house. It’s impossible to get the big picture of your sensors. They promote easy installation which is misleading. Sure you can stick the devices everywhere. There’s no GUI to assist with the install. Your sensors are just a bunch of numbers with no description that come online. When you have a problem, isolation of the problem is a problem. When you set the alarm and get a sensor open, you don’t know where. Maybe you get this feature with the new model or maybe it is available with a subscription. No GUI during installation to enable you to label sensors as you install them.
    I’m already shopping for something that I feel is easy to manage when you have multiple sensors.

    The product is great if it would work. I’ve been back and forth with these characters about faulty smoke detectors (I’m on my 2nd one) and after giving me the run around for weeks now, they are telling me I am out of time to return it. What a load of bull.

    We got this product on a Cyber Monday deal. Set it up a couple weeks later when the holiday craziness settled down. WELL within their 60 day “trial” period. We decided it wasn’t going to meet our needs and returned it. It seemed to go smoothly. Then, we got charged a monthly subscription fee – a couple days after returning the unit. We submitted our return confirmation email and UPS shipping tracking number to our credit card company and they refunded us the $14.99. It has been 6 weeks since we returned the unit and we still have not gotten our money back for the unit. Needless to say, we are very disappointed. If it weren’t for American Express’ excellent customer service, we would be furious. Buyer beware.

    EasiSafe in late 2017 knowingly sold defective systems that do not support any current Macintosh computer host. They dumped these defective systems on the market at a discount just before announcing a whole new generation that fixes the problem. On older systems they will never correct the Mac problem. I had to discover the defect during installation. Wait times for their tech support center are 20-30+ minutes per call. They will not exchange the old systems honoring the sale price. This is disingenuous, rapacious marketing. I’m returning what we bought for a competing system.

    I just received the simpliSafe system I ordered a week ago after a break in. I paid an extra $11 for faster delivery, but I don’t think it was significantly faster delivery. Maybe a tad faster, but not $11 faster!

    The system was easy to install, set up, and test. I thought the instructions were very complete in that regard. I called tech support around 5:00 PM CST and got through immediately. I wanted to return the camera I purchased since it required external power, and where I wanted to install it, the power outlets were not available.

    The lady on the other end, didn’t try to argue with me, or try to upsell me. She just asked for my verbal password and sent me a return label via eMail.

    Clearly, it’s too early for me to discuss build quality and reliability, but everything SEEMS well made.

    I opted for the basic monitoring plan. Since I didn’t buy any smoke detectors, C02 detectors or freeze protectors, the only added value for me was smartphone remote control. And as easy as the key pad is to operate, I don’t think the extra convenience was worth the extra $10/month.

    Awful from the start. Got the camera and couldn’t connect through the app. Restart the camera, attempt to scan QR code, sync fails. Rinse, repeat. Tried to set up monitoring, it continues to say I have the wrong device. I call customer service a couple of times. Every time, I was for 20 minutes or more. I request a return shipping label via email. I request it again, twice. Nothing. Finally, call them and sit on hold for 34 minutes before someone answers. They are unapologetic. I returned the camera almost a month ago. Still no refund. I doubt I will ever get my money back. This company is a sham.

    This product was HORRIBLE!! Easy to set up but the dispatching service DOESNT WORK!! The unit was unable to connect to the dispatchers. When I tried to cancel my membership, customer service said they would cancel it but they NEVER DID!! That was three months ago and I’m still getting charged a monthly fee. Now I have to get the credit card company involved to disputed charges. Do yourself a favor—avoid the headache and get a different alarm system!

    Do not buy this product. I have had nothing but problems with it. First the key fob didn’t work now it won’t connect to the dispatcher. I am waiting for a part to arrive that hopefully will solve the problem this time. I’ve moved the base station, plugged and unplugged several times and no change. Meanwhile I’m paying for the monitoring while the system is not even operating. I’ve had a little over a year ( and it’s not cheap) and they tell me I’m past the warranty time so I can sell a system that doesn’t work on Craigslist. Great company!!

    We purchased our SimpliSafe the last week in December 2017 and received a “holiday” discount of $200. After we installed our system we began to see advertisements for their “ new, improved, faster and safer” system. When we called (Still within our 60 day return period) and asked to switch out the system for the newer model, they said sure and the price is the same, but we wouldn’t get the discount. So now we’re back to square one. Their customer service is bad. We have had different components that had to be replaced since they were faulty; of course maybe that has to do with them being the older system! The call center is terrific, though. I’d advise going a different route, just due to the customer service issues.

    You buy a security system for piece of mind. When it works the system is ok. The inconsistency of the system working does not provide assurance that your home is protected when you are away.

    I have had my system for less than 60 days and every time I have called them I have had a lengthy hold . Today 3 issues occurred with my system. I called and it took 20 minutes for someone to answer the phone and after not getting any of my issues resolved I asked to speak to a supervisor-another 10 minute hold time and after a 20 minute discussion I was placed on hold again (still am as I write this review so far another 15 minutes).

    One time I called late in the evening and their customer service center closed at midnight. Hope you have your issue resolved before midnight because at 12:00.

    They should be called Simpliy a joke. After weeks of phone calls never being able to set up system. Finally getting it done without any help from this company. They offered a free month for all the problems. They canceled my service because of a 11.00 service charge. They denied saying they canceled my service. I went to set it today and got an error message saying I need to reinstall system. No way I have wasted enough time with this company.

    I picked this security system because of reviews I read and the price. I am learning that you can’t really rely on either. I was having issues with the system when I got it. The camera didn’t work, two of the three door sensors didn’t work and the motion detector didn’t work. I also needed assistance setting up the monitoring system. I called their customer service number every day for a week. After being on hold for at least 10 minutes each day I hung up to call back the next day and the same thing happened. I left a message with my phone number each day but no one ever returned my call. I never set up the monitoring system with the police station and one night, all of a sudden they alarm goes off for absolutely no reason. SS called me and I told them it was a false alarm and I never set the monitoring up. This was the only time anyone called me. They wouldn’t report it as a false alarm and 10 minutes the police are at my door. DON’T buy this system. I believe it is a scam!!!!

    Poor customer service response by phone and email which is unacceptable in any security system especially a DYI install. Sometimes takes days to get a response. System sends fake fire alerts. Fire department came to house on a false alarm and one of the fireman said even his SimpliSafe system sent false alarms. Tech support sent replacement part for base station which did not work. Tried calling and get put on hold forever. Service hours very short. No confidence in system anymore. Clever idea but poor service and product quality.

    Wait time on the phone was 20-60 minutes for customer service. Product is worthless. Key pad 10 feet away from the base and it would say “OUT OF RANGE”. Unused sensors would appear on the system as “ERROR”…I was instructed that I had to return them. Some reps were clueless on figuring out problems.The system had many problems including the cel unit that I had to replace my self…and still did not work. They NEVER gave me my bonus miles from JET BLUE. I sent everything back and I got refunded.

    Cheap price, but there’s a reason it’s cheap. You need to learn how to program it and trouble shoot it yourself for the most part. Getting help is really difficult, although they will tell you it’s simple. The equipment is fair, bulkier than other companies and seems to work, but I don’t trust it 100%. We’ve accidentally tripped the alarm on several occasions, but not once has anyone called to check on us and no police ever arrived. I found out that was because of a “setting” I didn’t know existed.

    I have called customer service numerous times for various reasons. I am usually having trouble with the system and not sure if I am “DIY Fixing It” correctly. This system is my family’s livelihood, so I can’t just be OK with winging it. I have never been on hold for any LESS than 10 minutes and usually more like 20+ minutes. I have left messages for them to call me back at their convenience, but have never once received a return call. I have even messaged them on FaceBook, and just received an auto-response, not answering my questions.

    If you can actually get a hold of anyone, they are usually very helpful, but good luck!

    I have been trying to call this 888-957-4675 number for a few days to report shortage in order but I just get info commercial one after another and cannot get through. Got 12 info commercials and then instruction to call 800-712-6600 which then lead to more commercials. this 888-957-4675 number is only number they provide anywhere on their website and in their paperwork.
    I am returning entire order(over $700.00) because I cannot depend on any company that has this system of communication..

    We need to speak to rep ASAP

    This kind of customer service number in un acceptable and makes me questions my decision to purchase SimpleSafe System.

    Intruders broke the glass on my backdoor and burglarized my home. The motion sensor was triggered three times, but the siren never went off. The siren only sounded after the police arrived and opened the front door after the burglars were long gone. Not to mention that the glass breaker sensor didn’t trigger when the glass was broken. Simply NOT safe.

    The system is very good on balance. My only problems occurred when calling customer service, which abandoned me on permanent hold. As long as 3 days later, someone called me back. They weren’t always helpful, and seemed preoccupied with something else. Again, for as great as their product is, their staff isnt. Perhaps they could hire better, and more?

    we have had the system for about 5 years now and have had only one sensor fail about 3 years ago. they system works very well for us. you have to remember when buying check your cell tower service is compatible. the cost after buying system and service is about the same as other systems for the 1st year but after the savings is great and the best is no contract. other plans will charge you and arm and a leg if you leave early. only wish they had a out door wireless camera.

    I have returned the system,even though I knew I would not get a refund, for the following reasons:

    1) The keypad battery drains after only 7-10 days. I tried everything tech support suggested. Nothing worked. They sent me a new pad. The same thing happened again.

    2) I bought a second siren to put in a central location. Even after working with tech support it never work properly.

    3) Two out of 4 motion detectors fell off the wall. Te solution from technical support was to screw them to the wall. I have plaster wall this solution is a non-starter.

    4) The key chain remote got “hung-up” when trying to save new instructions.
    Frankly this system is a piece of garbage.

    I will never recommend this product to anyone.

    I recently ordered this security system. Received the product in a timely manner. The equipment was as advertised. Unfortunately, the system works using a wireless internet connection. I did not even attempt to install the system as I am having issues with my internet reliability. I decided to return the product because I have been unable to resolve the problem with my internet. I was a bit worried about how the return would go as I had read some negative reviews from other customers who had trouble returning their products. I am writing this review because I was so pleased with their customer service and the ease I had returning my system. Simplisafe has a 60 day guarantee. I called the customer service number within 60 days. I was on hold for a short time, but was able to leave a message. I was contacted the next day. I explained that I wanted to return the products I had ordered. I was emailed a return label, no questions asked. I shipped the product using the postage paid label, and was credited the full amount right away. Very easy, and no cost to me at all. If I get my internet figured out, I will definitely consider ordering this system again.

    This company is unbelievable. I tried to terminate the service two months ago. I sent an email. I tried to call them. They don’t answer the phone. They charged me the next month, after I told them not to charge my card again. I filed a complaint with the credit card company. They credit card company gave the money back and a couple weeks later Simpisafe reversed the charge. Now they have just charged me again. After half a dozen emails. After I have attempted to call the several times. I am not going to sit on hold for 20 waiting to tell them to stop fraudulently charging my card. I will file another fraud complaint with the cc company if the charge clears and then file a complaint with the attorney general’s office. I liked this company at one time. I never use them again.

    Ugh, wait time on phone is unbearable. I’ve had to call in several times and was placed on hold for more than 40 minutes each time. The monitoring station answers quickly but they seem to be a third party vendor and if you need technical help they they route you over to SimpliSafe where you go straight to hold!!!

    The customer service has become virtually non-existent. What was once a very novel idea, has almost become the norm in the wireless home security market. Unfortunately, with the growth and additional revenue, SimpliSafe did not put commensurate resources toward its customer service and/or tech departments.

    But you will get RIGHT THROUGH to the sales extension.

    Very disappointed so far. Hours – (greater then 30 minutes per call)spent on the phone waiting to speak to a live person several times over the past 10 days fro the same problem Our base station frequently disconnects from the dispatch. Same problem and we can’t get it fixed

    Customer service is very poor – I have not been able to stay on the phone long enough to get to speak to a real person (waited more than 30 minutes both times). My system has not worked for over two weeks and I cannot get a return phone call or an answer by email. My neighbors are having the same problem. We cannot get the base to connect with the dispatcher after multiple attempts to reset following the posted instructions. SimpliSafe used to have good customer service, but apparently not anymore.

    Cost is fine. Service is sketchy. Have had Simply Safe for over 3 years now. In the beginning it was great, customer service was quick to react and helpful. Now, after a 30+ minute hold for a rep after I sent an email days before, I was told my keypad (Keypad that controls everything!!!) fell out of the system. Bought cameras for $100 a pop to find out (maybe my fault for not reading the fine print) would be $15 ea per month to save a live 30 minute video per alarm. Other wise you have to react on your own immediately from your phone or laptop to record it manually after notification of an breach. Really? you brag about low monthly rates and then this? This company has gotten too big for its britches. Growing pains are a struggle and I don’t anticipate these guys making it. It was the allure of a small business doing a good job that got me hooked but now, they are scumbags like most of the other ones. The big problem with Simply safe is, you do buy the equipment upfront, so if you get rid of them…. you loose your investment. I’m a sucker but wont give them another cent. Time to research my next security company. This one just slid into the hole with the other mediocre ones. Sorry SS

    Have been trying to call them for 15 days straight at various times of the day. I remain on hold for 30 minutes, no one answers the call.

    Extremely disappointed with horribly unreachable customer service. One of the worse services I have seen.

    It is a total rip-off for more than $200 I paid for the device and service.

    I recently purchased a system, the system won’t connect to the cellular tower, two sensors don’t work, and to top it off no one will respond to multiple emails and voice mails. How can you trust someon to protect you and your belongings when they won’t even respond to a email or voice mail. Worst security company around!!!

    Just bought this system and started setting it up. Needed to call customer service yesterday to work through an issue with the Install Wizard. 20 minute wait until phone was answered, and at that point I was “mansplained” to with erroneous (and incorrect) information. Summary: very poor and unknowledgeable customer service.

    I bought a security system from SimpliSafe, installed it and it doesn’t work. I followed instructions to put the system in test mode so the base station is supposed to send a msg to the dispatch node. I tried repeated and with no luck. I’ve called SimpliSafe numerous times and they do not answer the phone, they don’t respond to my e-mails and it is now day 5 without any assistance. They continue to send me e-mails telling me I haven’t sent a test message and it is apparent no one is reviewing the emails I’m sending. I really want my money back at this point, totally disgusted, don’t believe any of there reviews that they are the best – they are the worst! Do you research before wasting your money on there service and equipment.
